Located pretty close to 195, this is a very intimate venue to watch any performances you may be interested in attending. They also have a gallery where you can check out the art. I would recommend getting there early as seating is first come first served except for donors who get the option to reserve a table. They allow coolers for drinks at the performances and also have treats, coffee and water for sale. Just about all the seats offer a nice view of the stage. The people there are friendly and helpful. I attended a show at the Narrows Center for the Arts this past weekend and before the show even started I was looking up their calendar online to see what I could catch at this venue in the future. What a cool place to catch some live music! Such an intimate setting, comfortable seating, not a bad view in the place! Located in an old mill building, the stage set up and chairs is located on the third floor. There is an elevator to access for those who prefer to arrive to their seats unwinded. A quick check of your tickets and you're on your way! The venue is BYO food and drink, which honestly is such a cool concept given most venues are overcharging for these things left and right. They do have a small cafe with coffee, bottled sodas, and some treats for purchase if you come empty handed. They are also located next to a brewery where you can pick up some goodies as well. Parking is a breeze - free on street as well as an available lot behind the building. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and made the whole experience an enjoyable one overall. I have been going to the Narrows for shows since the days before the air conditioning and the pole removals. right after they added the elevator it is great to see the improvements they have made over the years, allowing them to bring in higher caliber ax, along with still exposing new and upcoming ax and old favorites. This place is great! Saw The Breakers there. Best Tom Petty tribute band out there by the way. Love the small intimate-ness of this place. One drawback is you can't dance at your seat. You have to go to the small area to the side of the stage. I get it, but it is a bummer. I think this place is for maybe the older crowd who likes to sit while they listen to music, but I just find that hard to do when the band is rocking, like The Breakers did that night. Huge bonus, it's BYOB! Love that option. It saves a ton of money, which makes it a good choice for a nice night out without breaking the bank. read more

This place is a complete scam. I went in December, this woman was walking around hard-selling raffle tickets. She said it was to win a whole year of shows there. She kept walking buy, eyeballing everyone. I finally caved and said I'd buy three tickets. She asked me for fifty bucks cash. That seemed a little steep. Only after I had forked it over did she say they were selling raffle tickets at every concert all year, and that the winner would be posted on their website on December 31st. I wish she had told me that prior to my paying for tickets, as that lowered the odds considerably. She never took my name, phone, or any contact information, just said, "DON'T LOSE THE TICKETS". I stuffed them into my wallet, and put on my calendar to check their website. It kept not appearing, but people get behind. I wrote to them in mid-January to ask about the raffle, and I got a terse email back saying, "We are notifying the winners directly." Really? How? You never even asked for our contact information, you just gave us three red tickets with numbers on them, and told us to keep the matching ones. It's also a very awkward space in which to see a concert, and I don't mean to be mean, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all, but the art was laughably bad. We will not return and don't recommend anyone else do so either. read more

This place has HEART! The Narrows is non-profit, all for the love of bringing people together around great music. Climb up to the third floor to the beautifully re-imagined mill space. The creaky, roughed-up hardwood floors and ceiling beams share the building's history, updated with white-washed walls. The floor is broken up with gallery space and artist studios around the performance space. This is how live music should be experienced! The stage sits shy of a foot off the ground so audience and performers interact at an intimate level. There is a ring of small round tables around the stage and rows of new comfortable chairs and some church pews arc behind, more tables and chairs to the back. BYO! - carry in a six-pack and burritos, wine and cheese, a bottle of scotch and paper cups- it's all good! Most of the names that come through The Narrows aren't well-known, but the people running the show here are truly passionate about music and choose fantastic up-and-coming acts to complement the more successful artists. I recommend the email list to sample who's lined up to head into Fall Riv. Oh yeah, parking lot in the back for Battleship Cove! Couldn't be easier. read more

I'm spoiled by the Narrows. 280 seat venue. Great artists in an intimate setting. BYO alcohol and food. Free parking right on the street. Been 6 times and will be back. FYI It's General Admission. Doors open at 7 PM. Show at 8 PM. You need to get in line before 7 PM to get better seats. We usually get in line 30 minutes before doors open and we always get seats in the first two rows. However if you have a ticket, you can walk in at 8 PM and you won't be far from the stage because it's so small. You won't see better artists in a smaller venue (with your own food and drink and your car parked out front on the street) than at the Narrows. read more

I am about to let you all in on one of my most cherished secrets. For those of us who love, truly love, live music there is not a place within driving distance that we won't go to see a favorite band or artist. That is how I first discovered the Narrows a few years ago when Dar Williams was playing there. Now, instead of following artists all the way down to Fall River, I scour their concert calendar to find artists that I might be interested in seeing, just so that I can go and revel in all the glory that this music and art venue has to offer. On the third floor of a converted industrial mill building, the Narrows is off the beaten track, but everything about it makes it worth going out of your way to find. It is a combination art gallery/live music venue that hosts local arts vendors to boot. The venue itself is visually stunning, completely renovated with incredible views of Narragansett Bay. Over a hundred feet of linear wall space in the main gallery, and a smaller café style artist display area provides lots of room for visual presentation, during normal gallery hours, or before concerts. If you do go for a concert, get there early enough to walk the gallery, and to check out the room of artists kiosks selling everything from paintings, to textiles and jewelry. Musical artist performing space is in a wide open room with high ceilings and soaring windows. Seating is a combination of tables and wooden benches, possibly recovered church pews, and is intimate at a capacity of just under 300. They do offer a small selection of coffee and bottled juices. You are not only welcome, but encouraged, to bring in your own food and beverages (alcoholic or non). Many people show up with picnic baskets and coolers. On my first venture here I was invited by some very friendly regulars to join in at their table and share in the feast of bread and cheese and fruit and wine they had brought. Their excitement at having a couple of 'younger' people from 'the city' make the trip down to their little venue was obvious, but sincere and would have been enough to win me over if I hadn't already become a fan just by walking through the doors. I'm not going to list the incredible concerts that I have experienced here... I've already given too much away and if you're not feeling inspired enough to check this place out, I'm not going to try to convince you. I'm more than happy to keep it all to myself. If you do decide to go though - do me a favor and don't tell too many people. When a place this amazing can stay secret it only benefits those of us in the know. read more

My first time in Fall River was made a memorable one by witnessing a rocking show by The Richie Furay Band at the fantastic live music venue in The Narrows Center. Amazingly good sound (administered by Patrick) and a fantastically helpful staff made my visit a delight. I'll certainly be stopping back in when I'm in town again. Wonderful! read more

In three words I'd describe the Narrows as: friendly, safe & original. The Narrows is a great little multi-use venue on the waterfront in Fall River. There is a nice gallery space which often exhibits local artists as well as student work from area schools and the main feature is the live act venue/area which gets some great musicians, comedians and other live acts of all sorts. It's BYOB and BYOFood so pack a picnic and get there early to grab a table and set up your smorgasbord! They do have a small concessions table set up with Coastal Roasters coffee and nuts/cookies if you decide not to bring your own. Since this place is way more laid back than a true "club" the crowd is tame and free of drunk and disorderly patrons and the bathroom facilities are impeccably clean! The only drawback is that since it is a non-profit venue, the prices for shows tend to be a bit high and the decor is pretty stark. But it really is a great spot for live entertainment in the Riv so you should check it out! read more

I can't say enough good things about the Narrows. I've seen The Tubes twice, Adrien Belew twice, Peter Wolf as well as many lesser known artists. I've had the pleasure of being right up close at a table several times. There are no bad seats in the house. I love that it is a BYOB and food establishment. You are guaranteed to have exactly what you want!. For music, the sound system is top quality. The volume is loud. Awesomely loud. But totally crystal clear. You are able to hear the nuances of each instrument clearly. Vocals are accurately reproduced and always right in the pocket. We attended our first show at the Narrows last night to see the Jon Pousette-Dart Band. What an amazing venue. All the previous reviews echo my sentiments. They recently installed a new sound system and it was fantastic. I checked the website and saw it was BYOB and BYOF. We had initially intended to do dinner before the show. However, I suggested to my wife that we pick up a couple of sandwiches from D'Angelos and dine in at the Narrows. It was a great decision. We packed a cooler with some favorite adult beverages and headed down to Fall River. We live in Franklin and it was an easy drive down 495 and Rt 24. I highly recommend you GPS your ride if you don't know the area. We're looking forward to more great shows at the Narrows! read more

i have been to this place a few times and had a pretty good time. i have not seen my mother & her boyfriend in quite a while because of there health & they live together in a nursing home. my mother had a stroke a couple of years ago, and is on oxygen, so i love my mom, and take her out as often as she can, but because of her stroke, she can not feel her entire left side now, but she is the reason i love music, so as often as i can afford it, i will treat her to a show here, or a trip to a nice restaurant, or a nice time at a local park. anything i can do to get her mind off of her situation living in a nursing home. these four ticket's were a surprise 71st birthday present for my very unhealthy mom. i bought my jim messina ticket's early when they went on sale, and left work a little early to be sure to talk to the sales lady about a simple accommodation with two 70 plus year old's needing a good area to see & hear the show in there wheelchairs, and maybe say hi to jim messina after the show. i met him last at the blue bird cafe, in nashville when i was living there pursuing a music career in the early 90's, and was really excited to see & meet jim again to say hi, and update him about my music endeavor's. i was very disappointed that there was no suitable handy cap access, and "no parking for handicapped, and because of the rain on friday, my mother & her boyfriend got drenched & know-one working at this place even offered to help me outside in the rain. very tacky, and we were ok, but i had to dry off, and all of that, and very poor communication regarding the "volunteer's" working there especially "paul" the volunteer that ruined our evening, because once we got upstairs from out of the rain, and the show started, i was rudely and inappropriately assaulted by this raging idiot, that was spitting in my face & punched me in the shoulder 3 times, and demanded i come with him! i was taking a few pictures, and minding my own business, and was rudely mishandled & i want everyone to know, if you are handicapped, or disabled in any way "do not waist your money on this dive! i will never forget the way the owner & her "volunteer named paul" treated me & my mother & her boyfriend & my close friend that was with me that evening! i will get over this, but it hurt's, because we were all really excited, and really looking forward to spending a great nite out, because we don't get to see each other that often, so it really hurt, and the owner was not hearing a single thing i said, and tryed to kick me out, with out my mom, and company, and i almost had a heart attach, because i have a heart condition, and paul, and his boss (the owner or manager) treated me like a piece of crap, and threatened to throw me out if "i didn't shut up" so she walked to my seat & was so rude to my mother & her boyfriend, that we had toi leave, because the show ended for us, the way the staff made us all feel. my mother is a retired state employee living in a-nursing home, and i am so sorry for not seeing the no picture's sign, and i only was taking pictures, because everybody around me was, so i pulled out my camera phone, and took a few shot's in a seat unoccupied up front, and i was very careful to not be in the way of anyone, but this jerk named "paul the volunteer" ruin's my evening with my dear mother who is already on borrowed time! i have to question how you guy's are even in business! i will be filing a complaint with my attorney general's office asap & my better business b. to see if an investigation needs to be implemented, in regards to violating disabled patron's right's. my being assaulted by "paul the volunteer", or the lack of a heart beat (zero-compassion) to the gal (the manager or owner) that really tried to kick me out for no good reason, and have my mother with no left side to roll herself out of the place to fend for herself. something to think about if you are considering a nite out, i would not ever recommend this place to my worst enemy! i hope & pray for "karma" to take care of this terrible experience at the narrow's! i will never have a reason to ever walk into such a "disgraceful" run business in my life, ever again!!!! grow a conscience & pray for god to have mercy on your soul's! good ridden's narrow's! i lived in nashville & a bunch of other cities in this beautiful nation, and i have never been treated so disrespectful, especially with two wheelchair bound elderly & very handicapped patron's. the gal running the place that has no heart, & should resign, or be fired, as well as her "volunteer-paul", who evidently is more important, then four birthday nite out patron's! i would get rid of paul, and focus on paying customer's. just a thought! god bless us all, and "the best is yet to come!" Great place to see live music - general admission, BYOB and food, amazing acoustics. Last month we had tickets to see Toots and the Mayalls with special guest Anders Osborne. Because of hurricane Sandy, Anders could not make it. The Narrows REFUNDED OUR TICKETS, even though the main act was still performing, as they knew that some folks were going primarily to see Anders. Now, that is what I call keeping the customer happy. We've been there a number of times and will keep going back. LOVE IT!!! read more

This is a really special place. I have seen a number of shows here over the years and would highly recommend a visit. Located in a old mill just off the highway. The space is great big open and staffed by some very friendly and laid back people. It's small intimate and has a great vibe. The acts are always top notch and they clearly like coming because they always mention how nice it is for them. Can you do better? Parking is easy and the alcohol BYO so if you are on a budget - and the ticket prices are also totally affordable - then even better for you. Go have a great time! read more

I've seen Dickey Betts, Little Feat, Anders Osborne and had to miss the Radiators and Al DiMeola due to my scheduling conflicts. This place is a hidden gem. Very pleasant small venue concert spot. We were there recently for Albert lee. Seats perhaps 200 at small tables and sgl seats. Parking in narrow lot behind the venue. Local art show in outer lobby. Acoustics good with some poles obstructing stage view. You can bring your own refreshments - that alone is worth a star! This place is great to see a show. The only problem is waiting in line before the show to start and the mad rush to get a seat. Maybe I am getting older, but this doesn't appeal to me. Once inside and situated...this place is awesome. You feel like the artist is hanging with you and add the fact that it is BYOB....it is like chilling with friends. The staff is very nice and accommodating. They do sell some soft drinks, snack and baked goods. You can park on the street for free.....so this ends up being a very reasonably priced evening. Anywhere you sit is within feet of the stage and artist. The acoustics are great and I hope to see several more acts there in the future. I am still debating whether to make a donation and have access to one of the tables in the front. They do a great job running this place and they should be proud. Rock on. read more

the concert i went to was great! here's why i didn't give it 5 stars: the location is not ideal. the art was only meh. the rows of seats were too close together - couldn't scoot past people sitting down, so everyone in the row had to get up and file out so i could get to my seat in the middle. i was told ahead of time to bring food, but all the tables were reserved so i had to sort of balance everything on my lap. otherwise, great venue for music and a really great idea in general. read more
