This is a non-pretentious little joint with great music. Their drink prices - beer, wine, seltzers, specialty cocktails - run about average for this sort of place. Western Stars, with top-notch musicians, was playing when I was there. There was no cover charge, but they did pass the hat. I love the fact that they have live music at 6PM on a Friday night. It's not surprising that it was a relatively older crowd, with some great dancers who were really fun to watch. Gotta love this unpretentious local spot to see live music. I've seen a lot of bands here but my favorite was a Vapors of Morphine show. It's rarely crowded so you can almost always have a good view of the stage. Friendly, chill vibes and a decent selection of beers. They used to serve food but I don't think they do anymore so get a bite to eat somewhere beforehand. read more

One of my favorite places to see live music in Providence! And Karaoke Fridays are legendary! Another reviewer commented on the neighborhood being sketch, but I have been coming here since they opened & I have never had anything happen to me or my car, I have never even seen a fight. The patrons are a mix of neighborhood locals, college students, rockers of all ages& flavors, hell one night I even saw Vinnie Pazienza(sp?) For a long time (pre-pandemic ) there was a sign on the door that says "All are welcome here" and they mean it - the staff are all friendly & good at their jobs. They have an excellent beer selection including the basics as well as local /craft brews & their pizza menu is top notch! If you find yourself on North Main in PVD near the old Benny's(RIP) stop in and soak up some warm fuzzies wrapped in a thick layer of dive bar charm. So just randomly stopped by this place. It ended up being a night that a band is playing and they were charging 7 bucks at the door as cover I later looked online and it says 5 at the door... not sure if that's a mistake but it was a-little strange... ended up talking to the bouncer and asked him if we could just go in for a quick drink before the band and he let us in free!! Hipster type spot, cool place for a drink and to see live bands definitely check the website for cover charge and to see who is playing ahead of time. Wouldn't eat here so don't come here hungry lol but cool for a drink and to listen to live music. They also have a few old school arcade games if your interested in that. LOVE this place!! We try to come as often as we can for open mic night, always a fun time! Everyone always puts in their all and the performances are genuine as hell. Amanda at the bar is super cool! Always polite and quick with our next round. Drinks are pretty cheap too! Chris, the host of open mic, is entertaining and lively. He always keeps the night going with his humor and vast musical talent. Jim was in the kitchen tonight making DELICIOUS quesadillas. Mine in particular had beets and bacon in it, an unexpected perfect duo. I hope Jim continues to make delicious treats for everyone continuing forward!! Brian, the sound guy, does a great job! We can always hear everyone and he has good taste in music in between acts. All in all, great place and great people! The Parlour has become my favorite nightclub in Providence. 3 of my favorite things in this world are live music, good food and tasty beer. For me, this place meets all my needs. I come frequently on Monday nights. It's reggae night with a band and no cover. A couple of sliders with locally raised beef make the rest of the workweek bearable. If I can manage another weekday night out, it's Wednesday night. It's funk night, and with another band and again no cover. If I didn't have dinner before heading down, then its pizza for me. It hits the spot but doesn't slow me down on the dance floor. I come down other nights too, depending on what's going on. My only complaint is after a night of dancing and having a few cocktails, before heading out I'd have an amazing cookie they used to sell, but they disappeared sometime ago. I've been lobbying the staff there to bring then back. If you go, ask for a cookie, maybe they'll start selling them again. It makes for a perfect night out. read more

Best and probably cheapest place to get stupidly drunk while listening to pretty good live music in Providence. Located in a not so ideal location on north Main Street, this place has so much happening inside even though it looks like just another bar from the outside. Budweisers, bud lights and millers for 3.50$, max price for a draft or bottle is around 6$, they do have a decent selection of beers. Cocktails are also around 6$, not the best ones but a great deal for the price, also the bartenders work like crazy and are undertipped :/ They have cover charge at the front, went on a Wednesday, changes every day I think but was around 5$ when I went. Slightly older crowd I'd say. They do have some food including chicken pot pie, didn't get to try. Street parking's there. Overall great place to have fun and listen to great live music with cheap alcohol. You could bring a date if you want to but it's usually pretty loud. I'd like to try their food the next time I'm there. read more

OPEN MIC REVIEW - I recently moved to Providence from the Boston area and wanted to get my feet wet in the music scene so I came to the Tuesday open mic night and was thoroughly impressed by the level of talent of each individual, including the host who was funny, welcoming and a damn fine guitarist himself. You get to play 4 songs or 15 minutes on a decent stage with lights, monitors and a dedicated sound guy which from years of experience doing open mics is more than what is typically provided. Love it here. I've been to Monday reggae nights a couple times in the past, but last not solidified my love for this place. So much great vibes, relaxed environment, friendly people and the music is amazing. The Natural Elements Band are phenomenal and play such great, mellow, reggae music. The DJ/Selector Pauly Danger is also really good. He plays some really good lovers rock, roots and dancehall music. Plus, he doesn't talk a lot like some other selectors. He just plays the music and keeps it moving, just like it's supposed be. Back to the Parlour..no cover, plenty of street parking and reasonably priced drinks. The Parlour from the outside is not normally a place I would just see from the street and decide to go. I started going here years ago when a good friend of mine started bartending here. My fellow co workers and I used to stop in to visit her. Their is something about this place, it's slightly divey, everyone is friendly. Theirs always some good music or fun going on, good beers and ciders available. But the best part is the food! The food is local some things are organic and super high in taste! The SLIDERS!!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite bar in the area. The bartenders are courteous and on the ball, and the food is delicious. If you're expecting to have fried food with your brew, don't come here. They don't have a fryolator, and they don't need one. The pizza is delicious (all of them, believe me) and the Stuart Foster mini burgers are literally the best. I don't usually eat gluten due to an intolerance, but I will quickly and without hesitation cheat for the wonderful amazing burgers. Mini patties with bacon, Gorgonzola butter, and onion JAM. You heard me, ONION JAM. It's out of this world. Even better, order it on a pizza for an amazing combo (but you won't see it on the menu, just ask.) The menu is constantly changing, so if you see something you like, ORDER IT! It may not be there the next time you come. All of the food is purchased locally too, so you're supporting a great local bar, and local businesses too. Plenty of beer (and cider) on tap, as well as great whiskey selections. Almost every night there are musicians playing, or trivia. You may have to pay a cover on the nights that there are musicians, but the people who book here know what they're doing. The bathroom is *always* clean (you'd be surprised what places don't have clean facilities) and people don't come here to get belligerently drunk. Went on Reggae Night and boy was that interesting. Very very interesting. The music was fantastic...it was legit. The vibes of the place were just spot on. The drinks were cheap, the ladies bathroom was CLEAN. The bartender was really personable and kind. I let her know that I ddnt know what I wanted to drink. Asked her if she could create a cocktail that was not sweet. She handed me a tarte lemonade and or grapefruit cool-refresher with tequila. Perfect. The best part about this place is the people. The Parlour is an adventure in eccentricity. The first time I went there, they had sports on one TV, the food network on the other, and cartoon network on the third. An older guy burst into the bar and yelled "I JUST CAME BACK FROM DRAGONCON!" and proceeded to show us all the pictures he took and how he was going to be a warlock. I drank beer while playing a rousing match of Connect-4 with a stranger in which we discussed a sea shanty sing-a-long happening at some point there soon. The bartender and I discussed raiding and gaming in MMOs. When I asked the bartender if they played hockey games, he pumped his fist and yelled the exact number of days until the Bruins series started. The beer selection is great if only for how wonderfully they serve our local brewers -- Bucket Brewery and Ravenous Brewery to name a couple of the rarer selections. I haven't had any of the food yet, but I did spy it and it looked pretty decent. It's worth a visit to see what's going on, who you can talk to, and what's on tap. It looks like a complete hole in the wall when you're driving by it -- I literally went in on a whim while I was waiting for someone to finish a doctor's appointment -- but ending up at the Parlour ended up being the best part of my day. EDIT: So I went there last night and got dinner and this place is seriously a hidden gem for food. They make everything by hand -- including their own bread. I had a chili dog slider made from all locally sourced ingredients on fresh bread made literally a couple hours prior. The pasta salad, pickles, chili -- all of it's in house. It's definitely not something you would expect looking at this hole-in0the-wall little divebar, but it's truly worth the trip just for the food. read more

A great, low-key spot to bro'down with some friends. Since the new owners have taken over, this great little neighborhood pub has undergone a much needed facelift. I popped in here one night to grab a quick beer with a buddy of mine, and was quickly sucked in to a vortex of delicious New England craft beers, highly inappropriate photo hunt, and an eclectic music selection. We ended up staying hours longer then we had intended, and made some fun new friends (who I believe now have a dj night here??). Definitely a great new place to lubricate your brain. read more

The more I go here the more I like it here. They do what as220 did years ago before they decided to just cater to hipsters. They have the widest variety of shows in the area. Monthly 45 record dance parties, songwriters nights, themed open mics, reggae nights, and an incredible variety of musical genres. The crowd is great too, young, old, a few hipsters,n but mostly normal people. The food is still great as is the beer selection. The beer prices are some of the best in the city and parking is not bad either. Good service as well. read more

Young and old, collared shirts and tie-dye prints. The Parlour brings us all together! The Funky Autocrats are such a jammin band, gotta check them out. The Parlour is a pretty middle of the road bar/venue combo. I am sure if I were to have had dinner here I am sure this would bump them up to a 4 star review, but since I have not...it is what it is. I have only been here for shows, usually on off nights (sundays, tuesdays, thursdays) so there isn't just an influx of people out to be out, which I sort of like. That being said the crowd is definitely eclectic and does have a bit of an older vibe. No one is out just to get trashed, and I enjoy not hearing folks screaming for shots or girls destroying the bathroom in a white girl wasted mania. Mixed drinks depend on who is pouring, and the beers are always superb in offerings in both. I made the unfortunate mistake of picking a fairly new and popular brew the other evening and when it kicked about 6 oz into the pint, they gave me it for free to sip on while I mulled over their plentiful offerings both bottle and tap wise. The only thing I can say for the food (as I haven't actually eaten it) is that it does take a bit of time to come out...often friends will order when they assume they'll have enough time before their set and the food with come out right after starting or shortly before they end. read more

Oh man, this place really has...its own "demographic". Every time I go there, it's like someone walked down Main street and scooped up every odd-duckling, then emptied the scoop inside the Parlor. It's fun though - sometimes there is karaoke, sometimes there is a live band. If you a girl, people will hit on you...often, and then some of those people don't hit on many women and you might end up with a story or two, or who knows maybe you will meet your Yoko Ono. The parlour is a pretty legit place to hang out, have a few drinks, have a few more and have a great time. They host a wide variety of events from kareoke to sports games on the tvs, to open mic night. I was a bit bummed on some of the nights when I just want to chill but there is a cover for an event, but sometimes those nights end up being pretty awesome. They have an excellent and well thought out selection of beers on draft. Most of them are local to New England and most are delicious. They also have most of your typical non-local, non-craft beers in bottles. The vibe is great, kinda hip, kinda divey, kind of laid back but all sorts of fun. I would definitely get used to this being my neighborhood bar, as I just moved down the st in Pawtucket. read more

I searched for live music in the area and this venue popped up. Right when I walked in there is an overwhelming smell of moth balls. Some type of cleaning chemical in the air which probably made me feel high after a while. The live band came on which was pretty decent but reminded me like I was watching the Dewey Cox movie. Had a 45 minute layover at the Peter Pan bus stop in Providence. Nothing was open in the terminal, so...we Yelped "bars." Enter the Parlour--just a 5 minute walk away. We went. What the hell is a great music bar, with fantastic craft beer, doing in the middle of nowhere? Got beer, got pizza. Twas delicious. 5 stars for good beer, food, convenience, and an awesome bartender. Will totally go back if I find myself waiting for a bus back to NYC. read more

This review is coming strictly from the point of view of a musician who played a show here, but I have to say... I like The Parlour. I think Providence needs a bar and venue like this. The beer selection is awesome, the bartenders are cool as hell, the crowd loves music and loves to dance, and it's an easy place to pack and bring that energy of a full crowd to. Greg really installed a top notch sound system here, and this was one of the first full band shows I've played in literally years that I could hear my vocals on stage. The fans who came to see us said that we sounded better here than we did at The Middle East Downstairs opening for Penguin Prison. Kudos, Greg. That's a big compliment. read more
