Trying to deliver here is a nightmare my employee has a pass,delivers here everyday for years still has to wait in line.It makes no sense to put trucks in the left lane who do not have a pass there should be no exceptions.The system is terribly outdated and often failscausing slowdowns and backups for anyone on a schedule.Please Sirs,correct your outdated system and training program for this job on your facility. read more

I decided to pay base a visit from Houston. I am a veteran with a service connection. I got a room at the Navy Gateway Inns and suites. I wasn't expecting much out of this joint reserve base, however, I was fooled. The base, NAS JRB, Fort Worth has a pretty robust commissary and exchange. I was surprised. It was not small by any means, and they had everything anyone would want there. The food court at the exchange has only a CHARLEYS steaks and that's it. The other place to eat is at the bowling alley and you can order a submarine sandwich at the commissary deli. If that isn't good enough, there are plenty of places outside the gate within a mile. Applebees, Sams Club, Mexican taquerias, hamburger joints, restaurants, you name it. The base has excellent static displays of airplanes an artillery piece there, a howitzer, Marine Corps helicopter, jet, Navy planes and ANG, Air force Phantoms, F16 fighter jets, Strategic. Air Command plaque and a thermonuclear bomb on display and the base has a hobby auto repair shop which I didn't investigate. But the highlight for me was the bowling alley. Its called the TEN PIN bowling alley. They have a ten-pin grill in there too. Can order pizza, hamburgers, tacos, sandwiches, breakfast. I bowled 3 games with my wife at a DOLLAR PER GAME! 3 dollars each for the shoes. You will never bowl anywhere else cheaper my friends! I also ordered a large pizza. Not the best but GOOD ENOUGH!!! To top it off, I had my cold class 6 store Yuengling beers in the suites in the refrigerator waiting for me after a grueling 3 game bowling. We had the whole bowling alley to ourselves. Its ran by MWR. My knees were shot. I haven't had fun like this on a base in a long time. They have a lake too that has NAVY LODGING which to my surprise was different than NAVY GATEWAY INNS AND SUITES. If you want to stay on base, consider if you want to be by the lake or just inside the gate. but either way you do it, it's safe, secure and a great value. I highly recommend this base if you want to getaway to something different for a couple of days, bring your cooler if you live far to stock up on commissary meats and dairies. The visitors control process was simple and they gave my wife a 3 day pass me as her VA sponsor. My registration is good for 6 months before I register again. Most bases do a year or 3 years but the 3-day pass for my wife was great. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Will do this again sometime and I highly recommend it. Don't let the joint reserve name fool you. It's robust. I saw plenty of retirees in there shopping too. I rated this a 5 because of the bowling alley experience. I loved it. Sometimes its more fun in an off the beat small base than a large well known one. read more

Pros - Within City Limits - Variety of Option - Plenty of Site Seeing - Secure Cons - Lots of Cockroaches - Spacious if you Hate Walking - Semi Difficult to Get To (Driving) The base is fairly small in comparison to some of the other based scattered around the state of Texas. For a reserve base however, it was decent size, not to mention it is next to Lockheed Martin, which manufactures military grade items. It is structured like a typical military base and allows for people to travel to and from, civilian or military. While there with my old college buddy, I was able to walk around and see some of the layout of the base. Plenty of statues and monuments to read and catch up on the bases military history, not to mention only minutes from downtown Fort Worth, so for a reserved member of the military there are plenty of opportunities to be involved with. There is also a very cheap priced gas station and free air station as well. All within close proximity of each other. On the other side the base was difficult to get to having one entrance that is very easy to drive past and be well on your way out of the city or towards Dallas. NAS Fort Worth is NOT a active base. It is a Joint Reserve Base. Big difference. It has a Commissary, small Exchange, Branch Clinic for the reserve and active duty. This is by far the worst base in history I've been to, especially the CDC day care. Beware, do not bring your children here. Since I've been coming in this base and to work here, I've always been questioned about my license plate and registration since we came from out of states over seas. My registration sticker clearly is still good but yet they still want to see my registration. There are a lot of discriminations and very rude people especially at the day care. There is things that I seen at the day care is very unethical. read more
