Vehicle had some moderate work done yet, Ben offered this information without my even asking. Try getting THAT somewhere else!!! Perfect vehicle for my needs. Love it! Now it's time to talk money and I meet Ben, the co-owner and main sales force. The vehicle seemed to need a couple minor things to help make me comfortable with the purchase, and these were done, WITH a LOANER car, thanks to Ben. Dave at the front counter is Ben's right hand man, and very capable. Every employee I bumped into or interacted with at Gateway was at minimum professional, and as I understand it they are all ASE certified! Between them all, the agreed minor repairs were completed, my full smile installed, deal struck. A good deal. In closing, now many hundreds of miles later, my vehicle is running and behaving perfectly. I bought this at a fair price and Dave and Ben did what they said they would do, and did so respectfully and promptly. They handed me information NO used car seller would ever do, and kept their promises. I would not recommend anyone buy a used vehicle before looking at what Gateway has to offer. To make a long story short, Tires Plus, on 132nd and Maple told me this Ford Escape of my daughter's which I had just spent a bunch of $$ at Tires Plus to put a new AC compressor in and recharge a few weeks ago now needed more work. But, when we tried the AC on warm days and even the day after leaving the place the first time after the repair it was not throwing any cold or even cool air out. When I took it back in, assuming it was under warranty from 3 weeks before, they said it now needed a new evaporator coil. The cost? $1600. I took the car back and took it to Kurt at Acme. He and his mechanics checked out the whole AC system to find out it was only a fuse and now the AC is working great and Acme did that at minimal cost. I will keep bringing my cars to Acme. Here's a firm but fair version: I really wanted to have a positive experience with this shop. The communication was great, and everyone I dealt with seemed very genuine. In fact, a friend in the industry described them to me as "not the cheapest, but fair and not crooks." Unfortunately, my experience with their pricing left me extremely disappointed. I was charged approximately $3,100 to replace one headlight, including labor. I questioned the cost of the part at the time and was told that was simply what it cost. However, when I submitted the claim to my insurance company, they actually called me to confirm that I had only had one headlight replaced because the cost of the part was roughly double what they expected. My claims adjuster then contacted the shop directly and was told that there was a 128% markup on the part. The shop would not adjust the price, and as a result, my insurance company would not reimburse me for the full amount. I understand that businesses need to mark up parts and make a profit, and I don't expect any shop to be the cheapest. But a 128% markup on such an expensive part, especially after I specifically questioned the price and was simply told that was what the part cost, does not feel fair to me. We live in a small community, and I believe we should be able to trust and support our local businesses. I appreciated the communication and professionalism I received, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Based on the pricing and the way this situation was handled, I cannot recommend this shop and would strongly encourage others to compare parts pricing and ask specifically about markup before authorizing expensive repairs.

This hero answered my phone call, while out running errands and said he'd swing on by.
