Unfortunately I did not have a good experience at the Violin shop. I had several things done to my…read moreviolin; fingerboard planed, reshaping of the bridge, a little varnish touch up, clean and polish and bow rehair, new leather grip and clean and polish. They had my instrument for over 2 weeks. When I called to check on how much longer to expect the repair they said "oh, yes it's sitting right here all finished". I couldn't believe they didn't call me to tell me it was done! When I came to pick it up they set the case on the floor beside me to go over the bill. I was shocked they didn't open the case and have me play it for the amount of work that was done. I opened the case and gasped when I saw RAW exposed wood on my bow. The new leather grip was placed a bit higher on the bow leaving a spot that was under the old grip raw exposed wood. My heart sank! When I removed to blanket off the violin ALL the strings were completely loose. I don't know how the bridge or sound post was even standing!!! They staff talked to me as if I was a beginner or low intermediate student when I expressed my concern. I paid the $400 bill. When I got home and played it I simply wanted to cry. It sounded terrible as if the sound post had fallen but not properly replaced or possibly the bridge hadn't been reshaped properly. I went to another shop in town Williams Fine Violins to see if they could fix it and the luthier there was able to fix my bow. He also worked with me to adjust the sound post till my violin sounded back to its old self. I don't understand WHY the violin shop didn't have me play it ESPECIALLY if they knew the sound post fell during the repairs!!! I looked up the owner of the violin shop on their website and sent him an email but got NO reply. Save yourself time, money and energy. Go to Williams Fine Violins. They will take good care of you!!
