But after all these years, I've never had a chance to visit his gravesite. On this beautiful, sunny day, I found myself across the street from Williamson Memorial and I felt it was time to get some closure and see the final resting place of my former student. He was a brilliant mathematical mind. But I had no idea where he was buried in this vast cemetery. I walked into the main building to ask for assistance, and the staff was busy juggling multiple memorial services and a number of funerals. I already felt intrusive and hated to bother employees with a simple grave location request on such a busy day. And that's when I met Joe. After a sweet young lady told me she didn't know how to find a grave but knew someone who could, that's when Joe emerged from an office to assist. He could have easily told me he was too busy, or blown me off because he was coordinating bigger events. Instead, he looked up the name I gave him and found the site. But that was hardly the end of his generosity. Joe literally walked with me into the cemetery to show me the precise location. He actually took the time to leave the main office just to help me find the gravesite, allowing me to get closure on a day that was long overdue. This is the most wonderful example of customer service I think I've ever experienced. And if that's how they handle a random person stopping by for a visit, just imagine how they work with families during their most difficult time burying a loved one.

My mother is gone. After 2 weeks that is still so hard to accept, let alone write the words. Mom…read morehad nothing in place...nothing paid for...no directives except for telling my brother and I to make sure that 1. Nobody "dissected" her and 2. She was cremated. We have taken care of her together for over 20 years and the whole time she swore she was dying soon. We told her she would outlive us all. Until 5am on Dec 1st, we really believed she would too. I have nightmares of sitting in the ER, holding her hand as her body turned cold. But I knew I had to honor her wishes and quickly. That's how she wanted it. Heartbroken, I spent hours the Sunday she passed trying to deal with paperwork, absent doctors, and getting mom out of Tennova. She hated that place. I had no idea what i was doing. I came across this company online and sent Miss Erica a message thru the internet. Less than an hour later she called me. The only person to return any message that Sunday. She was so very kind as i cried into the phone. We scheduled a time to meet the very next day and from the moment she and I met, I knew moms wishes would be taken care of. She kept the family informed every step of the way, she was caring and compassionate during one of the worst times of my life. This is more than a job to her. What my mom wanted meant something to her and she gave 100 percent to make sure it was done. She listened and stepped in to help us when the hospital and docs were giving my brother and I nothing but a hassle. She's honest. No hidden fees and costs. As I was the one paying for it all, i couldn't help but appreciate her professionalism all the more. She's even checked on us since moms cremation just to let us know she's thinking of us and that she was here if we needed anything else. That meant more than I could ever say in words. I miss mum so much. She was one of the most interesting and unique individuals I've ever known. I feel so lost without her. To know I was able to honor her wishes thanks to the excellent care of Erica and Tennessee Cremation Care gives me peace and makes these difficult days a little more easier to bear.

When my FIL passed my wife…read morecalled as the only paperwork we had from him was from Harpeth Hills and it was for everything he had prepaid. He had told us in advance that he had done that. Nevertheless, she ended that call with Thomas with a 14K quote for a funeral! And a referral to a local funeral home in Austin to help us here with transport or whatever was needed. When we finally had time to think and spoke with the local funeral home about options we decided on cremation. We also separately decided we did not want to do a funeral or have that expense. Thomas was upset and rude when my wife informed him of the plan. He then called the funeral home from Austin and was upset with them for talking us out of the funeral services he proposed! They did not do that, we had already decided that prior to talking with them. Thomas then also left them a nasty online review. Not a great start! We then proceeded with the cremation and confirmed those plans with the cemetery who confirmed everything was indeed prepaid and there were no additional fees. Guess what happened when we showed up? That's right, additional fees! Almost $800 to have the date of death added to the scroll as the year is included, but not the date. I've since learned this is somewhat industry standard as it is a 3rd party cost, but what is not industry standard is repeatedly informing a customer everything is paid only to ask them for money at the last moment. Furthermore there is a complete disconnect between the funeral home and cemetery. They (Lynn-GM and John Sales Mgr) ultimately offered to provide the scroll at a discount but days later have still not sent that offer/quote to any of the family. They began by trying to take advantage of a family at one of their weakest moments and when that didn't work threw a temper tantrum. It then felt like they were trying to extract something from us on the burial as payback, but I now believe it was just further incompetence on their behalf. Even at their best throughout this process they felt shady. This is a corporate run funeral home and you'd hope since you lose the empathy in exchange for greed, you should at least gain efficiency, but here you get neither. Stay away!
