Lily told me "I should be grateful" for doing blend electrolysis due to my skin tone being darker since she prefers the thermolysis machine since it zaps quicker ... it's not my fault my skin is darker and at the end of the day I'm paying for a service. She'd complain about using the machine she didn't want to use continuously throughout the appointment to the point where I would consider finding a different electrologist, then subtly remind me there are less than ten electrolysis in all of san francisco and that most of them book patients who "aren't normal girls". Lily worked with me for 2.5 years. She is very knowledgable about selecting safe yet effective intensity settings for different areas of the body. I never experienced any burns, scarring, or discoloration. For longer treatments, some initial redness that resolves quickly and mild swelling of the treated area in the first 24 hours which is normal. She provides guidance on post-treatment skin care and my skin looked great without a trace. The overall process is not a quick fix, it is a time and financial commitment, but it does work. So glad I found Lily! I discovered electrolysis when I was living in LA, but was struggling to find a place to get treated in a similar quality when I moved to the Bay Area. My work eventually brought me into the city; with some research I found SF Electrolysis and after my first visit I knew my search was finally over! Lilly is amazing, hands down. She completely calmed my nerves about the whole process explaining every bit and answering all of my questions. Regarding the actual process: I've done laser before (worked during the treatments but now a year later I have even more hair :( and I'm supposedly the ideal candidate with light skin and dark hair) and wasn't quite sure how to prepare for the feeling. Let's just say, any type of hair removal is painful, period. However, knowing that this is p e r m a n e n t makes it all the more bearable. It honestly depends on the hair she is working on; if you've been tweezing like I had for years, especially a particular hair, that will be painful. But then there are easier ones which are less painful. Plus it's relatively quick so just think of that. Overall, I leave her office each time so so happy. Her office is very centrally located, and every time I've gone I've lucked out and found street parking. Amazing! I met with Lily in late 2017 and she bluntly told me it would take about a year of work, every two weeks, and no plucking or she wouldn't work on me. I did the math and decided to invest. I was plucking every week or more at the time. I stopped plucking and went to Lily for a bit over a year, every 2 weeks. It was hard not to pluck at first, but after 2 months there was less hair. We finished up the year in late 2018. Then I popped in for maintenance every once in a while in 2019, but it was mostly gone. As covid hit, in early 2020, I didn't even notice that there were no more hair issues in the area we worked on. Occasionally a longish stray hair here or there, but so thin and light it doesn't really matter. So at the end of 2020, a year after we finished treatment, I'm doing great and have no more plucking to do. It's truly amazing. Please know that you need to be vigilant and go every 2 weeks for it to work, and not pluck, and follow instructions, but it's totally worth it. I can't say that enough. It's totally worth it. Disclaimer: I did not have any sessions here. This review is solely based on the booking process and pre-customer service. I e-mailed this business asking for a price quote (I could not find any on the website). I received an answer with the price, and I replied saying that I would like to schedule a 1-hour session. They don't have an online booking system, so when I replied to this e-mail I asked whether they'd have any availability on a few given days, and requested that they call me to schedule an appointment if those proposed dates did not work. I got a reply back saying that bookings are only done over the phone, and that *I* need to call them, between 9-11am. Off to a good start... So I find 5 minutes to call them from work, during a break between two meetings. We agree on a date, but Lily wants me to give her a credit card number over the phone. I don't love providing this information over the phone, but I would have done it anyway if I had had my wallet on me. Alas I did not. I asked Lily whether she could please save the time slot for me, promising that I would call back as soon as my meeting was over and I could go get my wallet. She refused to do so. So I think not. This review is very overdue, as I've been going to Lily for electrolysis for about 8 or 9 months now. Prior to SF electrolysis, I was getting treatments at a place in the South Bay for about a year and saw very minimal results during that time. I have very dark, coarse hair, so I attributed the slow progress to that. I also had constant scarring/hyper-pigmentation from treatments that I thought would clear in time. As soon as I moved to SF I looked into a new electrolysis place and found Lily's clinic to be closest to my house. Right off the bat, Lily was quick to explain the different types of electrolysis and why she chose the settings that she used for my treatment. I was utterly amazed to see such a huge improvement in my hair growth with just two sessions-not to mention I have NEVER had a single scar or break out from a treatment with Lily. She always gives great aftercare instructions and also keeps a personalized log of what types of settings she used for optimal results. On the personal side, Lily is incredibly easy to talk to. Lily took the time to thoroughly go over the process and procedure, showed me all her tools and safety protocols, and then looked at my skin and the hair and said "we can just do this now if you want."
