I really wanted to like this place especially with the supposedly good reviews. I always wondered if these are friends or families helping the business with the over praise. First, I have had facials in different parts of the country and overseas. I know what is a true and real facial feels like. This was not it. This is on me for not making time on carefully research this place. The DMK felt like the " esthetician" watched bunch of you tube videos and mimic the steps. There was no facial massage, it was more like throwing the products on your face which literally it happened that way. Lily was lovely and everything but one thing is the personality the other is the execution of work. The place: people go to have a facial or massage in a place that is zen and quiet. It's a space for healing and focus. There's no privacy. The working areas are separated by panels. There are no doors but curtains facing the checkout counter. I could hear the next door client chatting with her esthetician nonstop. For that you go to therapy or simply have that session at home. It was distracting and extremely annoying. The choice of music and volume not okay. It gave me the impression these people wants to make quick money without having proper practice and real experience. I'll keep looking and make the time to check on their certificates online. The ones on the wall look pretty fake. Got my first spray tan a couple of weeks ago. It was the day before I was a bridesmaid in a wedding I couldn't have been happier with the result! Abigail made me very comfortable and gave me step my step instructions to ensure the best outcome. The tan was the perfect color!! I was provided with barrier lotion to apply to my hands and ankles to prevent the orange fingers I was scared of and stickers for the bottoms of my feet so I didn't have brown feet. Great wax and friendly staff! Wax Nashville is a great spot to get waxing services. They have easy online booking and a great team of qualified individuals. I had my eyebrows waxed and Maisie did a good job at making sure I received the right service (I accidentally booked the wrong one!), which ended up saving me money. She took her time and I was very happy with the service I received (and thank you, cause my brows were way over due)! Pricing was fair for some services, but some also looked a little bit on the higher end. I'm deducting one star for the pricing and the building set up and atmosphere. Although it's a vibrant and upbeat place, I feel as though loud music is not what I would want when receiving waxing services; I know I'd want more calming music. But that could just be a personal preference. In regards to the building set up, as others have mentioned, the rooms are not super private due to the walls not going all the way up. Sure it looks hip, but if I were wanting a Brazilian, I think the layout would be a huge turnoff as I DO NOT want anyone listening into that. WAX Nashville is this perfect little spot tucked away in a hipster block of East Nashville. The store is super clean and has an adorable black and white stripe theme. The receptionist is less than enthusiastic, but efficient. I visited Maisie for a full Brazilian. Let me tell you--the hard wax they use is a GAME CHANGER! No strips required, and it's much easier on your skin than regular strip wax. I'll never go back to strip wax now! Maisie was super sweet and made me amazingly comfortable, which can be difficult to do when you're spread-eagle on a table under a bright light. She was thorough (and sympathetic) and I was really satisfied with the results. The one negative is how the salon is set up. There are small cubicle-style rooms and the walls don't go all the way to the ceiling. The room is sufficiently big, but you can hear EVERYTHING from the room next to you, which makes for some awkward moments! All of that aside, I'll definitely be back to see Maisie. read more

I've had two amazing encounters at this location. First time with the bikini wax. Second time lip/chin and bikini wax. It was painful but after the wax is pulled off, almost immediately the pain goes away. I treat my skin with Retin-A, so I was concerned about scaring but that didn't happen. The Wax Artist Caitlin was super, super gentle and warned me when to breathe. Parking was a little tricky because it's limited on the street. Wax Nashville does a wonderful job with brows- absolutely no complaints there. Great value for what they deliver, and I'm pretty picky. I would, however, urge them to rethink the way they enforce their cancellation policy for regular clients, though. I had an unavoidable situation come up so I called the front desk to explain what was going on a few hours ahead of time (albeit same day). I was told that they'd check in with the esthetician on waiving my fees given the situation wasn't something I could prevent. I received a call back a few hours later urging me to reschedule my appointment, else I'd be charged the full amount of my service and that if I rescheduled they'd only charge me 50% and that "it's nothing personal." The reality is that supporting local business is always personal! As a client of nearly two years who normally tips 40-50% on each service, a little leeway would go a long way on a difficult day. Beyond that, I couldn't just give the person my word I was going to reschedule- I had to do it then and there or get charged the full amount which felt a bit unnecessary. I get that late cancellations put businesses in a tough spot; absolutely charge no call no shows and repeat offenders! But cut your loyal clients a little break when they need it Kindness goes a long way. read more

I had to update my review because of a negative experience I had last time, I haven't been back since. I called on my way to Wax to ask if there was time for a brow wax. I arrived ten minutes later and was taken back right away, which was great. The wax itself was not good. I had spent several months growing out my brows so they would be a bit thicker. I explained this to the technician and asked if she could be cautious to not wax anything but the stragglers underneath, and that I wanted them to remain thick. My technician spent ten minutes on my brows before handing me a mirror, asking what I thought. I was surprised to see that she had waxed my brows pretty thin (removing the newly grown hair I asked her to avoid) but there was a lot of loose hairs all over my brow one that had been missed. It was weird..as if she did the exact opposite of what I had asked. I mentioned that there was still a lot of hair left so she laid me back down and waxed again. A second time she handed me the mirror, and again, lots of missed hair. I realized at this point that this was probably not going to pan out well so I thanked her, paid, went to my car and spent a few minutes tweezing my brows in the review mirror. For $30 it was disappointing. I haven't gone back because that's a lot of money to spend to have to fix my own eyebrows right after. read more

I have a lot of hair, and it is coarse and thick....but it doesn't stand a chance with her. She gives the least painful wax I have ever received and she is patient with my unruly hair.
