I'll start with the fact that this was my first experience with a balloon ride. Logan (the pilot) and his lovely wife were clear, attentive and friendly the entire time! For anyone who may be concerned going in that they don't know what to expect or how to behave- when you take off you absolutely will. They make it totally clear in concise terms. You'll really feel confident going into the ride. The experience is one that is surprising! Take off and landing are gentle yet exciting- far more so than a plane! The views are spectacular and Logan remains in constant communication with the ground crew. In addition to all of that you'll learn about the history of ballooning! I won't spoil it all, but don't hesitate to take this leap with this company! They are amazing people and will provide an amazing experience! Support local business!

They texted us in the morning to confirm our reservation then promptly met us at the Jefferson Springs boat ramp. We were quickly outfitted an off to explore. We found lots of wildlife and pristine river banks that we were free to explore as all the land on both sides of the river is public. We spent about 3.5 hours on the water and had quick lunch break in the middle at the great park where the ramp is located that is set up with picnic tables, public restrooms and grills! The Stones River company kept in touch with us and were ready at the end of our rental to promptly collect the kayaks. We would highly recommend this company for your kayak rental needs!

However, I had a really fun and fabulous time last weekend on the Harpeth River with a group of friends. This city girl can get down with nature...for just a few hours at least. I sincerely appreciated the options that vary from just 1 hour on the river on upwards to 12 hours for the advanced river rat. We opted for the 3.5 hour adventure and it was the perfect amount of water, beer, and paddling for this broad. I don't think that I'll ever be interested in the option of "on-site primitive camping or camping along the river bank." Call me a wimp, but a Heavenly Bed at the Westin sounds more my speed! Pricing is based per canoe and kayak and when we mentioned an "Internet Special" we enjoyed $10 off the price of a rental. For an afternoon of fun for 2 cost us around $45 which included the rental of the canoe, paddles, life preserves, and seat cushions. The staff was friendly and dropped us off at the docking point and helped us get into our canoes. The river was a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the weather and when I was feeling especially sporty, I put my jiggly arms to work by paddling like a mad-woman. I would imagine that this is the secret workout for Jennifer Anniston + Michelle Obama...how else would they get such sculpted biceps.? Just sayin. The rules of the river prohibit booze but I can assure you that our group were not the only ones that smuggled a case of PBR in our coolers + vodka in water bottles. The staff doesn't check coolers + backpacks so you can certainly bring your booze along with sandwiches, fruit, and Sun Chips of course! You can take the city out of the girl but NOT the vodka. TIP: Pets are also welcome. Chico + Bellini are totally going to be 2nd mates on the next outing!

Watching the boats enter and leave the marina, we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. The entire booking and preparation process took place online and was super easy. I had a couple of questions and called the phone number provided and spoke to Chris. He answered my questions and provided some additional insights about our reservation timing (4th of July Weekend). We completed all the waivers and educational overview online. We also had all our passengers complete waivers in advance which really sped things up on departure day. Drew met us at the dock and already had the boat pulled up and fueled. He helped us load our stuff and walked through the requisite safety items. The boat was fairly new and in excellent condition, clean, and well maintained. Drew was very helpful and personable, offering some tips on where to go on the river and what to watch out for while cruising (those barges are BIG). We had added the downtown dock option so when we arrived, we called Chris for the gate code. Again, he answered quickly. I was very impressed with Chris' responsiveness and availability. There's a bit of anxiety when you're traveling and the only contact you have is a phone number...will they answer? Will I get voicemail? Every time I called (or emailed) Chris, he was there or quick to respond. Overall, we had an awesome experience with friends and a wonderful experience of our new hometown. It's amazing cruising the river and feeling like you're in the wilderness yet knowing that the city is just past that line of trees somewhere.

We caught 6 different species of fish , had many more nibbles and saw a baby gar. In addition , Matt is a certified EMT and Fireman , it's great to have capable trained expertise on board. Matt and Jimmy were the nicest and most knowledgeable guides you could ask for. We started down the Duck River around 8am, stopped along the way for lunch and reached our ending point at 2pm. Matt and Jimmy were so patient with us, and didn't seem to mind that we kept doing the same things wrong over and over, but it didn't matter because the whole adventure was SO RELAXING.
