I liked Dr. Arvan's qualifications and hospital affiliation. (Torrance Memorial). I am so glad that Dr. Arvan was willing to see me. Dr. Arvan is excellent. She Listens, asks the right questions, addresses the issues of your concern, and has excellent relationships with many doctors, and knows what and where you may need to go next. I just had the worst doctor experience in my life with Dr. Arvan. She was rude to me as soon as I told her I recently saw a Naturopathic Doctor who diagnosed me with SIBO after having serious gut issues for two years. Dr. Arvan didn't review any of the paperwork I gave her which included recent lab reports, diagnosis and treatment plans, etc. She didn't ask me any questions about my health or how I was feeling. She was more worried about the natural supplements I was taking to treat SIBO not being FDA approved. I simply needed to get a physical exam done to qualify for a discount on my medical insurance but she refused to treat me because I'm seeing an ND as well. Are you kidding me? I'm taking things like calcium, multi vitamin, vitamin D, K, C. I'm also on HRT but she didn't like that either. How would she have any idea on my hormone levels without even looking at my lab results. What a waste of time. Seems she doesn't like her patients seeing anyone but MDs. However, I don't need any more prescription pills. All I needed was a simple physical exam. Unbelievable! read more

TERRIBLE! First, the office did not call to tell me that my appointment would be virtual, so I drove 45 mins each way to sit in my car. Secondly, Dr Arvan was very disorganized and not prepared for our appointment, she had not reviewed my records prior. She kept talking over me and was not listening, she proceeded to tell me that she is a medical Dr not someone good at paperwork, defending her lack of organization and preparedness. Thirdly, my appointment was a pre-op appointment for brain surgery and she did not do a thorough job of vetting my health. I would NOT suggest going to Dr Arvan for anything serious. She is unprofessional, asking me questions about the paperwork sent from my neurosurgeon, questions about medical acronyms, which of course I had no idea. Basically she asked if I was on any medication and if I had high blood pressure and that was it - approved for surgery. I do not feel like I received an adequate evaluation at all. read more

I have gone to her a few years now and have always thought she lacks knowledge but she has always given me what I needed for simple colds. I basically had to tell her the medication I needed and she would give it to me. I went to see her recently and she basically said she had no knowledge of what I was talking about, has no idea what tests she should run and I should go see a holistic doctor. I told maybe she should research it and find the knowledge and what tests to run and her response was she doesn't have time we are in the middle of a pandemic. This office doesn't test for the Corona virus, it is not an urgent care or hospital and I was the only patient there! I have no idea how she became a doctor. Dr. Arvan has been my mother's physician for over a decade. My mother is 94 years old and has multiple medical problems, and dementia as well. Dr. Arvan's care has been beyond excellent. She is very, very thoughtful , patient and understanding . Her medical knowledge is vast, and she's very deliberate and thorough. She's kind, and a good listener. Her diagnoses and treatment plans have always been "spot on" accurate. My mother loves her. Dr. Arvan also always calls me to check up on my mother after a visit or during any treatment. She asked me the right questions, then ran a blood test that caught signs of clotting and sent me to the hospital where after a CT scan I was diagnosed with multiple pulmonary embolisms, which could have killed me. I am so thankful to have Dr. Arvan as my primary care doctor. She is attentive and smart. She actually listens to her patients. I recently had an orthopaedic surgery. Afterwards, I had nausea/ vomiting which is not uncommon for me post anesthesia for a day. But it continued for the 3 days I was there, along with sharp stomach pain...not a single hospitalist seemed concerned. They just kept giving me anti nausea meds in the IV. The problem is that after I went home, the nausea/ vomiting started up again as well as the sharp pain in my stomach. I called Dr. Arvan's office..unfortunately it was a friday and they were closing, so she said I should go to the ER. I did and was kept overnight, given IV for dehydration and IV meds for the nausea/ vomiting again. I kept telling the hospitalist that I could feel the pain building up in my abdomen, then I would vomit and get relief for a while. They took x- rays and CT scan and found " nothing wrong", but a urine sample showed some white blood cells, so they assumed I had a UTI and that was making me sick. ( I had zero symptoms of a UTI- and later found out zero grew in the culture so I did not have a UTI) . They sent me back home with antibiotics and more anti nausea meds. I still kept throwing up and also had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic. I could not keep anything down...not even clear liquids. Needless to say, I was getting weaker and sicker every day. I knew if I went back to the ER it would just be more of the same- IV and anti nausea meds. I knew something was wrong, so even though I was feeling so weak/ sick I wanted to see Dr. Arvan, I knew she would listen to my concerns. She agreed I looked sick and my symptoms concerned her. She wanted me to be admitted back in the hospital and would arrange for a GI specialist to see me to get to the bottom of the pain, nausea/ vomiting. I was so weak, & sick I was quickly getting worse just while in her office- including now feeling my heart with palpitations, and my muscles did not want to work. She called an ambulance to come get me, and sent orders to the ER doctor to get a GI doctor to see me. When I arrived back at the hospital again I was very dehydrated, along with low potassium now too. Once again IV fluids, plus IV bags of potassium and more anti nausea meds. The next morning the GI specialist did an endoscopy procedure and looked into my stomach/ upper intestine and found a large deep ulcer! Finally an answer for all the stomach pain, nausea/ vomiting. So, finally I then started getting the IV meds to treat an ulcer and was kept in the hospital for 4 days, & given an RX for oral meds to treat the ulcer upon discharge. This time, once home I was able to keep all liquids down as well as food, and the stomach pain started to disappear! If I had just stayed home and followed the advice of the hospitalist, that ulcer would have eventually perforated, which can be very dangerous, even deadly. Thank God I went in to see Dr. Arvan & she got me back in the hospital with a GI specialist to see me! She is a great medical doctor! She listens and takes everything in her patients tell her, she is smart , attentive and caring. Her staff also is kind and seem on the ball. I am always seen on time for an appointment, she will call you back with lab results or questions. Even with my follw up with her yesterday. I told her I was nervous about waiting for the biopsy result the GI doctor took. If it was positive for a specific bacteria, I would have to take antibiotics and I was worried with my recent allergic reaction to an antibiotic. My follow up with the GI was over a week away. She got on her computer and said, " your test results are back in already & it was negative, so you don't need to worry about that". Was so nice of her to check and let me know so I could stop worrying. Needless to say, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Arvan to everyone...by far the best doctor I have ever had!! read more
