The best time to come? Middle of the week early! Not as crowded, and you get the park to yourself! Everyone had a great time here! Why not a 5? Well the Airboat rides were shutdown, and a lot of the things inside shop and the concessions that were open were a little pricey. What place isn't right? You can feed gators, they have shows, got to hold baby gators, and pet all sorts of animals. Fed land tortoises as well. Highlights...my midget got attacked by a turkey! The place is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. We picked a good day because it wasn't crowded and all the animals were out. A cane pole was rented (by someone in our group) to feed the alligators. A pack of 4 hotdogs were provided with the pole. I also wanted to purchase a marshmallow gun. However, I found out that I would have to blow into the gun to shoot the marshmallows. It wasn't what I expected, so I decided to pass. - Adventure package - $10 - Gator & emu pellets - $2 - Total: $13.01 (including tax) (Prices for September 2022) The juvenile gators snatched the hotdogs quicker than the older ones. The bite-sized hot dog pieces are the perfect size for them. Samuel, an employee at the park, offered us a chance to hold a bearded dragon, variable king snake, and a gator. Samuel also invited us to watch the alligator show, which he hosted. Feeding a wild alligator in Louisiana is punishable by law (leads to loss of fear of humans) and is also a death sentence for the alligator. Texas has a sanctuary for wild alligators that have been fed, but Louisiana does not. The fine for feeding a wild alligator? $1500 per FOOT of alligator. Check out how large some of these alligators are! Samuel mentioned that an alligator named "Beef stick" is over 11.5 feet. That would be an approx. $17,250 fine. Yikes! Alligators can also jump up to 5 feet out of the water! The water in the "show" area is purposely on the "shallow" end so that they aren't able to propel themselves out of the water. After about visiting almost every year for the last 15 years I'll say me and my family will not be back. We are extremely disappointed with the new ownership. They are very money hungry and have taken away from the overall experience. If you don't pay for the full package you're just wasting your money going. Even the show has been ruined by the new ownership. I would highly recommend going somewhere else. This used to be a budget friendly family environment but now all anyone is worried about is making the most dollar out of every guest. We waited around for almost an hour for the show and were highly disappointed. It looks like a lot of the tanks are very dirty you can hardly see what's inside. They take the baby alligators out of the wading area after the people with the wristbands leave so even if you don't have a wristband you can't even see the baby alligators. There's hardly any gators there anymore. Just very disappointing I will not be returning. Also have painting of plantation homes along the side of the building embracing a very dark time in American history. read more

First of all I don't know why four people ran into me on a sidewalk. It was cool you could walk around barefoot with little baby alligators with their mouths tapped shut so they wouldn't bite people. The feeding gators show was neat but the intern kept missing the gators giant mouths at point blank range. Could use some better audio equipment. Public speaking is for anyone. I held a dragon and a snake too which was awesome and a once in a lifetime experience. I had never seen a place with a raccoon exhibit so that was interesting. No horses. A bit pricey to get into the park. 75 cents for one bag of small strawberry fruit snacks. Some of the stuffed animals were cool tho. The video playing on the tv was poorly filmed and edited. I am a professional videographer so I'd know. The deer were the best part they ran over to me and a male counterpart and we petted them like dogs. I'd go back in an instant if only to see those deer again. Gators varied in sizes some were pretty large. The rides near the gift shop weren't working when we paid for them so we had to ride them manually. Got a few cool pictures with holding baby gators. The bathrooms were small and the first time using them (yes I went 3-5 time) a man was sitting in a stall talking on his cellphone with a default telephone ring tone. There were three school buses there so I had a somewhat difficult time finding a parking spot for myself with my illustrious 15 passenger van. Emu were a different type of animal. The speech during feeding was kind of informative. Walking to the feeding felt like return of the Jedi and Ewoks because there were 3 school buses of kids walking to the show with me and my 7 masculine male people. The stands for the show reminded me of zoo tycoon. Overall an enjoyable time spent on a Tuesday morning/afternoon. Fun for the whole family even tho I don't have a family of my own. Thanks and regaurds. The road made me thirsty too. And the goats and one sheep were a lot of fun to feed and tend to and I felt invested in their little sanctuary. read more

My husband and I had such a great time here! They are under new ownership and they are doing great job. I'm a huge fan of alligators and this place did not disappoint. We fed the alligators, goats and tortoises. We also watched the alligator feeding show. We happened to be the only ones in the park at the time of the show so we had an upfront seat to all the action. They were very informative about the alligators during the show, explaining basically anything you'd need to know about these animals and how they thrive in their habitat. After the show we were able to pet a snake, lizard and hold a baby alligator. All of the alligator trainers and employees were extremely helpful and friendly. We are definitely coming back, bringing family and friends next time. read more

My sisters and I visited when we were in Natchitoches for the weekend. I had no idea this place existed until a few days ahead of our trip, but while looking for things to do, we found this. We had a great time. It was fun to feed the animals, hold the small gators, snake, and big lizard. It was also fun watching the gator feeding. It was clear the staff enjoys their work. We decided to visit the park on Labor Day, although we have obviously been before, we never visited under the new ownership. As we walked in we were greeted immediately. We asked several questions about the optional feeding prices (which is basically raw hot dogs). After paying for admissions you walk out the gift shop and the fun begins! It's almost like a open concept and not like a trail at typical zoo's. The staff is extremely nice and answer any questions. The owner interacts with you during and after the feeding show answering any questions you may have. Overall it's definitely worth the price of admission and we will be back. read more

Ive never been to a gator farm before so I have nothing to compare it to. What I will say is the food was some of the most disgusting I've ever seen. Also a pathetic representation of gator meat you will ever find. You would think a gator farm would have some good gator dishes. Well its so bad this place should be ashamed. I ordered the gator kabob and my lady got the gator bites. My kabob stick was nothing but a fried mushy and tasteless mess. It had 2 or 3 tiny pieces of meat and the rest was big pieces of veggies and big chunks of potato. Potato in a kabob? Come on people! My ladies gator bites were also a fried mess. After removing all the breading, she was lucky to get a couple TINY bites. When I mean tiny, Im talking about the size of a chezz it cracker. Both were so bad we ended up throwing it all away. They also had food that was pre cooked sitting in a case for who the heck knows how long. Save your money and go to a local restaurant to try some gator. read more

This was an extraordinary experience for me and my teenage boys. We were visiting from California and don't get to see gators where we are from. The boys were extremely excited to go and we were not disappointed in any way. It was Father's Day and very rainy with thunderstorms and lightning. As a result there were no animal shows which was understandable. And there was hardly anybody there so we had our way unimpeded to see as much of the wildlife as possible. For us the Gators were the main attraction and Gators do not care about the rain and were out swimming around looking at us and wondering if we were going to fall in. Also as a result of the low attendance on this particular afternoon we had the pleasure of talking with the owner for quite a while. I really enjoyed speaking with him and learning about his 30 years of raising Gators and how this park came to be part as a repopulation effort that started years before. He showed pictures of various celebrities holding his baby Gators and shared pictures and videos of unusual situations that have arisen over the years such as floods and meandering 12 foot Gators. My boys and I were very inyerested in seeing the unusual tactics that need to be taken when working with such dangerous animals. Additionally my boys were in awe of the weaponry for sale lining the inside walls of the store. I highly recommend this park and will visit again if we return to Natchitoches. read more

I would expect it to smell considering it's a bayou and there are a lot of animals BUT all the animal stalls were gross and the bathrooms were filthy!!!!! We went twice. Once in 2011, and in 2013 a couple weeks before we moved out west. It was reasonably priced, and had everything gator related you could have wanted/needed. Gators Galore. The gator feeding times were nice, as well as feeding the baby goats. We loved feeding the baby goats. Our child loved it both times. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area. read more

My family was in visiting from Iowa, and we took them to the Alligator Park this past Saturday, August 8th. I had been there many years ago when my sister was visiting, and we both enjoyed it. This time, she wanted her sons to have that experience. It was even better than it was before- if I could give them 10 stars, I would! I'm not quite sure why the reviewer from July 5th was so dissatisfied. We had a wonderful experience- the feeding show was very entertaining and my nephews (ages 10 and 2) were absolutely enthralled and had their eyes glued to the show the entire time. The gals in the gift shop were super friendly, and seemed very happy to assist us. They were smiling and it appeared as if they genuinely enjoyed their jobs. The woman in the snack bar was also fabulous. She was very helpful, and especially kind to my nephews. The food was also surprisingly good, especially for a snack bar at an attraction. My mother, sister, and I all got the alligator bites, of course, and it was tender, juicy, and delicious. My husband got a meat pie and fries. The prices were very reasonable at $6.00 for alligator bites with fries. My 2 year old nephew got the kids Gator Crunch Meal, and ate the heck out of it! The animals were very well cared for. The food purchased by the visitors is in addition to their regular diet. This practice is common for attractions with animals. Children love to feed animals, and it provides an opportunity for further interaction. Having this food available ensures they are fed something healthful that will not cause undue harm. Yes, some alligators were confined. These alligators are babies that have deformities or other problems, and were going to be destroyed by another farm. However, Bayou Pierre Alligator Park did not want that to happen, thus, they took them in and are providing the best possible life for them. All the pens were clean and well-maintained. None of the animals appeared to be sick or stressed, and the emus were not missing any feathers. The miniature horses were not biting at anything ("cribbing"). The goat pen was not overpopulated. Were there a lot of goats? Yes. Goats are herd animals, and they prefer to live in large groups. They fare much better in these circumstances. However, the goat pen was huge, plenty of space for them. After doing some checking, I found that the Alligator Park IS inspected regularly by the state. The previous reviewer also mentioned "wet dirt" and that she is from West Texas. Therefore, she should have known about all the flooding that occurred in West Texas and in Louisiana during the early part of summer. I actually contacted the Alligator Park via social media. At the time of her visit, they had literally just re-opened after being under four feet of water. All the animals were kept safe during the flooding. (I will do my best to figure out how to upload some photos from my phone.) After the wonderful experience we had, we will definitely return. Unfortunately, when people use terms such as "teenage beauty queens," it leads me to believe that they may just be a negative person with a chip on their shoulder. Hopefully this will not dissuade anyone from visiting the Alligator Park. It is absolutely an asset to the area, and a wonderful opportunity for education and interaction with animals! $8 per person seemed a little high, maybe they could have a children's rate and it wouldn't be as bad. Food for the animals was .75 cents for a small bag but with two bags we had plenty of food to feed the animals. Cool alligator exhibits that were very natural habitat. The feeding was fun to watch, as soon as the music starts, all the alligators come swimming over because they know what is going to happen. This is where they lost points for me as I think it takes away from the natural feeding and environment, but I get it. Nine year old loved it and LOVED feeding the baby goats. read more

This place is pretty cool for a day trip. It is fairly small and you can walk around it in about 10 minutes. Make sure to see the gator feeding show and buy the food when you pay to enter. That is the best part feeding all of the animals. Don't bother trying to feed those nuggets to the big gators, they don't care. Make sure you take hand sanitizer as the goats will slober all over your hands while feeding them. I definitely recommend and would go again. read more

Flyer totally is not accurate. Only one creature lives it's natural habitat and that is the alligators. Rest of animals live in terrible conditions. Reptile house stinks and they are in small areas and no where to move. Snapping turtles don't have any room to swim. They are stuck in a trough maybe 10 inches wide. Deer look like they are starving, flanks all drawn in and their coats are dull and not shiny. If you love all creatures as I do don't go here unless you want to be totally depressed. My mom who hates snakes felt sorry for them and all the other animals that live here. Wish I could post negative score instead I had to give it one so I could post this. This place is amazing! If you happen to live or be in the Nachitoches area, then this is a place you should most definitely visit or frequent between April and October. The gators are great! The feeding frenzy is something to behold! What I enjoy most here, and I've been a multiple of times, is Castaway Island. The Island has a crashed passenger airplane and supposed mayday calls coming over the loudspeakers overhead of the presumably perished pilot and passengers. The gators are fed off of the island from an authentic-looking cajun houseboat...AWESOME! I just LOVE Alligator Park, and I have driven in from Shreveport to see it! Not a bad drive at all, and well worth it! There is also a bird sanctuary and petting zoo on site! Here is some more important information: Open 10am to 5 pm. April 1st through August 15th, park open every day! August 16th through October 15th, open weekends only, including Labor Day. Adult admission $7.95, Ages 3-12 $5.95. I would probably give this 1 1/2 stars! Notice all the other reviews, as well as the pics, were posted 2-3 years ago! I don't know when this farm was opened or if it's under new ownership/management compared to 2 years ago!? But the experience was less than mediocre! First impressions are important! The teenage beauty queens running the gift shop & taking payment for entry, were hovering between apathetic and unfriendly! They acted as though we were bothering them by having to do their jobs! Had this park just been Alligators & I was charged $3-$5 entry to see the feeding show & receive education, I would probably rated it 5 star! Most of the alligators were in natural habitats, however some were confined and did not look healthy. The Raccoons looked sick. The Emus looked stressed with large areas of feathers missing, the miniature horses were cribbing, the goat pen was overpopulated, all the pens were wet dirt that looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in months. Other than the Pygmy goat pen I didn't see a source of food, and that was a trough w/ crushed kibble that one goat was lying in and it had goat droppings in it! I don't know what the animals are fed beyond the sacks of food they sell in the gift shop and that appeared to be Dog Kibble, not balanced nutrition for Emu, Goats, Horses, Raccoons!!! I don't know what kinds of regulations the state of LA has on these types of establishments? But someone needs to inspect this place. The only reason I give this place 1 1/2 stars is b/c the kids enjoyed the Alligator show & it was a good education on alligators for West Texans unfamiliar w/ them. Being born and raised in California, and this being our first alligator park experience it was perfect and well worth it! Unlike a depressing zoo, these animals look happy, healthy and very much in their meant to be habitat. Getting to see the alligators feed was astounding. They have food that you can buy to feed and interact with the animals. Even the gators will eat it! The goats were my favorite part personally! This park has a good range of different animals to see, not to mention alligators in several areas throughout the park. The best 5 minutes we spent there was actually getting to hold a baby (3ft + long) alligator, along with taking a picture with it. They also have a little cafe with a full menu including alligator, although we did not eat there. Admission price is totally reasonable and there is tons of "wants" in their gift shop. Highly recommend this for the whole family, and also an easy, fun day for out of town guests too! read more

There is so much potential here in this park! There are so many alligators and other wildlife that it could totally become famous especially for people from other areas of the country. I have been here 3 to 4 times over the past 10 years and the facility has really deteriorated. They do not seem to put back any money in repairs or updates. The walk ways are very un-sturdy so take caution when walking and make sure to wear closed toe shoes. It wouldn't take much to put some fans periodically and to replace the broken hand sanitizer stations, repair broken walkways, and to clean up a little bit! There are several cute activities for the kids but they are all broken and not at all useable which was a huge disappointment. Tips: make sure to buy the 75 cent feed when you check in it was the most exciting part, wear bug spray and sunscreen, and summer clothes, if you have toddlers make sure they are in good shoes or they stay in a stroller (small stroller). If your toddler likes to run off you may want to use a back pack with the rope attached to it because it could be dangerous. The show was pretty neat but...again, fans under the pavilion would have made a world of difference especially being 95 degrees and packed! This year the speakers for the show went out during the show so we couldn't even hear the narrator part of the time. It really makes me sad to see this place in such bad shape because I really think it could be amazing with some TLC. If you're main goal is to see alligators, you won't be disappointed!
