My husband is a longtime patient and "Triage" refuses to send in a refill for a medication that has been regularly prescribed to him for the past 5 years. This medicine controls his severe inflammation, which is debilitating for him and without the meds, his quality of life is negatively affected. After pleading twice, they still denied his request in a cold-hearted and callous manner and advised him that his refill request will be "managed" at his next appointment. I guess the fact that he is suffering in pain and has trouble physically moving around means nothing to this practice as it appears they can't be bothered to show compassion or take any actions of humanity in between appointments. He has regular blood work completed and appointments with the physician, but regardless "Triage" is forcing him to wait (and suffer) by not honoring a simple refill request prior to his next appointment. If more blood work is needed, a simple lab order can be uploaded to the portal, but nope. There was no sympathy, empathy or even a temporary work-around offered. Truly a disgrace.

He is clearly very skilled and knowledgeable, and he immediately instilled confidence. Having this surgery was a major decision, and Dr. Gwinn put me at ease, and I believe I made the right decision choosing him for this procedure. I also have nothing but good things to say about his PA. If you choose MMI, you will likely receive quality medical care. Now, the bad: Quite literally, everything else. I have never experienced this much frustration dealing with a medical office staff. Communication is pretty much nonexistent, and when you do reach someone, most of the time they pass the buck, say your issue is not their department, and then blind-transfer you to a voicemail box. That voicemail will not be returned. You will have to call back over and over again, and even after explaining that your voicemail was never returned, you will simply be blind transferred to the same voicemail again, ad nauseam. This is true of scheduling, medical questions and concerns, administrative issues, etc. This is beyond frustrating, especially while recovering from major surgery and navigating other issues such as FMLA concerns. Also, if you need any forms filled out, they will nickel-and-dime you. Need a one-pager stating that you are medically fit to return to work after FMLA, that's $10, need another form, that's $10, even if you download it digitally. I'm not really concerned about the small fee, but it seems petty, especially considering I'm continuing to have and pay for follow-ups with the doctor. It's just another example of a top-down culture that seems to be anything but customer-focused. Again, I'm grateful for the quality medical care I've received from Dr. Gwinn. That being said, I think the way this practice is run is detracting from that care. As frustrating as the totality of my experience has been with MMI, it's unlikely I would recommend the practice to a friend, family member, or colleague.

The other thing that Dr. Russell makes clear from the beginning is that she wants you to be an active participant in your health and she really means it. She doesn't get offended when I ask questions and doesn't think that I am questioning her expertise or professional opinion. But then they isolated me in a separate room with a large industrial grade hepa filter and basically treated me like a leper. Seems to be a huge over reaction as we are not in any kind of pandemic. They were extremely rude and irritated when I asked them about it. Additionally, when I was sick over the last 2 weeks, they refused to see me, couldn't get a sick appointment. Requested to see the manager during my visit today and was told prior to the visit that he would be there and it would be no problem to meet with him. Of course he wasn't there when I was there. Practice is poorly managed with rude staff and poor communication. Would not recommend this practice.
