I'm a retired owner of a custom cabinet business. When it was time to help my sister redo her kitchen, we were impressed with the showroom of NDM in Medina, Ohio. The granite salesperson, Kimberly was very helpful with showing us products. I encouraged my sister to deal with NDM, even knowing the product was more expensive than the local home center, believing she would get better service from them. However, after the sale was made and there were some problems that needed resolved the better care and service just did not materialize. 1. She was given a price on installing the new sink and disposal that NDM provided. The counter installation crew cut some of the pvc plumbing pipes and she was charged an additional $100 for their blunder. 2. When template was made for counter, she was told that she needed to have concealed brackets for peninsula overhang, and it was $300+ for them. That was not a problem and agreed and paid for. When the counter was installed, the brackets were not installed. getting an explanation why and a refund took weeks. Never an explanation nor an apology. Made to feel like we were being a pain in the butt for asking. 3. Biggest problem and concern are that the granite counter tops have a gritty feel that never goes away, no matter how much they are cleaned. All information that we can find online, seems to indicate that there is no fix for this as it is an indication of an inferior slab. Kimberly just expects my sister to live with it. My sister has requested several times to speak to someone in authority and Kimberly just ignores the request. 4. This would normally be a non-issue for me but just emphasizes the lack of care to details by NDM. Supposedly when the counter was purchased a 12" granite lazy-Susan was included Free. They did make a second trip out and brought the lazy-Susan but the bottom of it was just a rough piece of metal. They told her it was her responsibility to glue something to the bottom or it would scratch up her new counters. I fixed that but could not believe they would deliver such a poorly designed piece. We've been working with National Design Mart for a few months to remodel our kitchen. Overall, we've been satisfied with the process and the staff. My mother-in-law is an interior designer, so she created most of the design herself with my wife's and my input. I was thinking that we would replace the floors, counter tops, and back splash while refinishing the existing cabinets. But the wife's plan called for replacing the cabinets too. Instead of shopping around for each component, we visited National Design Mart because it's a one stop shop for all the things we were going to need. Alan was friendly and wonderful through the entire project. His cabinet design was perfect and it came out perfectly in the end. We worked with Jennifer to select floor and back splash. Jennifer was also very friendly and great to work with throughout the project. The floor came out amazing and it is one of our favorite features in our new kitchen. The back splash (6"x36" tiles) we requested was no longer manufactured, and thus unavailable. But we weren't notified until two weeks after we ordered it. So we opted for a back splash with the same colors and pattern, but on a significantly smaller tile (4"x12" tiles). Once we had it in hand, we ended up not liking the smaller tile because the pattern was very repetitive for our large back splash. Jennifer went above and beyond to get us a full refund for the back splash tile. We worked with Paul to select counter tops. After taking my mother-in-law's advice, we decided to use quartz instead of granite. Paul helped us select a nice quartz called Tofino. He worked to get us scheduled for measurements and installation. Paul was excellent in his demeanor and communication. Overall, the experience we had at National Design Mart was a great one. The prices are a bit high, but if you have the money, this is a great option for kitchen remodeling. read more

Terrible customer service. Had a delivery of 16 x 12 throw scheduled for about three weeks. The day before the delivery, they called and set the delivery window between 12-2pm. At 12:35 on delivery day, they called to say the delivery crew " called off" and they would have to re schedule. Having the furniture already arranged to accept the carpet, we picked it up. This is my first experience remodeling a kitchen and half bath. My contractor suggested I look at counter tops at National Design and I selected quartz. My contractor estimated it would take three weeks from measuring to installation of the counter tops. From initial shopping to measurement to installation, the employees were professional and personable. It amazed me to see the precision equipment used to measure for counter tops. The operator cheerfully answered my many questions. It also pleasantly surprised me to hear that the counter top would arrive in a week. Cody, Cody and Jay were meticulous in the installation of the counter tops. They made sure I understood the entire installation process. They wiped, sanded and caulked for hours to make sure the installation was top notch. I could not have asked for a better experience. My rating is four stars instead of five only because I felt the prices were a little high. We're high-end flippers and potential repeat customers that will always need flooring, kitchen cabinets with installation services required etc. They just lost a high-paying customer. While I did not expect the red carpet to be rolled out for our company, I didn't expect the salesperson to be so unhelpful, so uncaring. Very clear, she did not want to be there. She was the only cabinet person there for a busy store?? She said the earliest she could start to have cabinets installed is 4 months. That is quite a bad timeline for us but I was willing to work with it but her attitude just made me walk out of the store. She just did not give a flying flip. Also, flooring dept. NO ONE there to answer questions, like when will we be able to get our order?? Is it even in stock?? What is install timeline?? We went in on Saturday and only saw 1 sales rep at cabinet section. No one else to help you through-out whole store. They did have kind receptionists at each dept. who will greet you, but unless they're going to jump out from behind their cushy desks and get my cabinets installed, then stop with ur plastic smiles. Over the past 1.5 years we have worked with National Design Mart on several projects for our whole home remodel. This included carpet for the whole home. Tile for each bathroom and kitchen. Countertops for each bathroom and kitchen as well. Further more, we used their free designer to help think through the entire aesthetics and design for our project. And their installers for the carpet, some of the bathroom/kitchen tile and kitchen countertops. We are really pleased with service and staff we worked with. Now, this isn't to say there weren't hiccups, reschedule and staff in/out for various reasons and items to work through. These were all manageable and we appreciated the clear communication. We really appreciated Pam and her effort to help us get the right counter tops and to verify our order and to help us work through things when we changed one sink our and a stone was cut too small. Beyond Pam, we really like Rob the tiler who did a marvelous job in our master bathroom and our kitchen backsplash. We gave him custom, unique tasks and he is a master craftsman who delivered impressive results. No excuses! And the counter top measurement and install teams were all good. We appreciated their review of our project and giving us tips and answering our questions on best to prepare for the install. We would shop there again. read more

Terrible. Customer service is non-existent. 3-4 people operate the main desk and act as greeters when customers walk through the door. They want to match us up with sales people if we're not currently connected with someone. They're relentless. It's the last time you'll see a sales person because 15-20 sales people are huddled into cubicles, hidden away from consumers, at any one time. Customers walk about viewing the billions of products housed on the massive sales floor, but customers need to locate a sales person. (They're all lounging in the cubicles). We looked through tile for at least 15 minutes, and we had questions we were speaking to each other about. There was an employee in the department, who at first appeared to be a customer. When I realized she was doing some kind of inventory, I asked for her assistance. She looked bothered, but answered simple questions until she pawned us off on a designer. Don't waste your time. We were quoted a price for the tile the grout and caulk but told that the sale which was happening the following week wouldn't really save us anything but a couple of cents off of our total purchase I thought that was offputting. We were back on the day of the sale and none of the prices were any different for sale said the warehouse would be opened to the public but we didn't see any evidence of any warehouse nor any evidence of any sale price. The "welcoming" staff are rude and pushy (as in swarm at the door), and the customer service is lacking - everything is a process. After the amount I have spent there on flooring and granite countertops, I can't believe that they would treat repeat customers the way they do...And then I spoke to Manager Ron Stevens (out of Wooster???), now I see. Your demeanor on the phone Sir, Rude and all about the sales! It starts with the leaders. If you have used National before, it is NOT the same place. How I wished I had consulted Yelp before agreeing to use this supplier! After the forth trip to our new build house, they simply gave up and gave our builder his money back. Their reason was that they did not have a skilled enough staff to properly cut our kitchen quartz countertops. They drilled the faucet holes in the wrong place (even though the builder delivered the actual sink for them to template!). They also cut the edge too far so it was halfway into an adjacent wall. Then they patched it and tried to say that it looked fine (it was soooo obvious!). You'd think higher cost stone would command more of their attention, but it doesn't matter to them. So now our move in date is pushed back another month or so as we start the process all over with a new supplier. Use these folks at your own risk. If you do, prepare yourself for possible disappointment. read more

We should have known when we first spoke to salesman "Don". He didn't know what he was talking about when we started asking about installation timing. My wife and I went in person to the store and Russell helped us. He was very knowledgeable and took a lot of time to make sure we got what we wanted. He is such a good guy, he gave the sale to "Don" since we spoke to him first. We paid in full and made sure that both my wife's and mine contact numbers were on file. "Don" was supposed to call the night before and confirm the installation. He didn't! When I called in he said they didn't have our contact numbers. They sure did use our credit card number easy enough. The installers arrived and the carpet seems to be installed properly. The problem arose when they said they forgot their vacuum, said sorry and left a huge mess. The large carpet chunks and left over fibers would have destroyed our own vacuum if I hadn't had a shop-vac. When we called the installation supervisor, he never called us back. We finally called back and got through to someone other than a voice mail and they offered us a $100 coupon toward future purchases. We will never go back there. The carpet quality was good, Russell was wonderful, but everything else was very disappointing. read more

Terrible customer service! I would never go back. we purchased countertops, blanco sink, and backsplash. After a few months our sink cracked after normal use. I contacted national design mart and they directed me to the manufacturer. The manufacturer shipped a replacement sink free of charge. When it arrived and I compared it to the sink National design mart installed I notice there was a very large defect on the original sink That looks like it was patched prior to installing it. I contacted national design mart and was told they they would have installed a damaged sink as long as the crack was not on the inside. They want to charge me $500 for labor to install new sink even though they installed a faulty one. read more

I purchased 1200 square feet of vinyl flooring from this company 12/21 and had it installed by them. About a year and a half later, the flooring started coming up in areas and moving. I called the company to make a claim on it. Started the process in October 2023. I JUST got a denial letter yesterday about my claim stating that the flooring literally coming up and off the floor is due to those areas being "high traffic areas." I bought my floor so I could walk on it. I bought vinyl for the durability. This company will not stand behind it's products or the people they sub in to do the installation. The installers told me it was supposed to be a 2 day project, but they rushed to finish it in a day. I am quite sure now that they cut corners to finish in a day and I am paying the price for it. They no longer make my flooring and my kitchen is full of broken boards. The inspector's report states that the flooring is off the floor a quarter inch in a lot of places. So ow I am going to have to pay someone to not only put a new floor in, but to completely tear of the piece of garbage NDM put in. Run as far away as you can. Poor quality products, poor workmanship, and absolutely will not stand behind their products or their work after only two years of use (and the floor was not cheap!). read more

This was a perfect experience! I am surprised to see any negative reviews, because our granite countertop project was flawless. Our salesperson, Taylor, was fantastic: helpful, knowledgeable, and very professional. She helped us find a stunning slab of granite, and we were able to choose how it would be cut for our two countertops. By the way, they have a huge indoor area with more beautiful slabs of granite than you can imagine. The installers were perfectionists- they took great care not to leave so much as a scratch on any walls, and the precision of their work was better than we ever hoped for. Our kitchen went from bland to looking like a million bucks! Oh- and we had first checked at a big name home improvement store that had a "20% Off" sale on countertops & installation going on. Design Mart still beat their price, and with a piece of granite that I'm sure was a higher grade than we'd have gotten elsewhere. Cutomer service was courteous, efficient- Spot on! I guess that their expansion and the move to a new location some time ago, had caused some "growing pains" that affected some of their ratings. However, we had no problems at all. This was our first experience getting new countertops, which means we had many, many questions throughout the project. Even so, Taylor was always pleasant and patient with me. National Design Mart installed our flooring and granite at our new construction home built by Diyanni Homes based in Columbus (Buyer's Beware- Stay Away from this BUILDER!). We paid a premium price to upgrade our carpet and laminate ($4930) and have numerous outstanding issues to date. After several attempts to reach out to the appropriate installation/operational folks (Phil Gibson, Scott Hayduk and Nick Howell) over the course of the last few months, we are at a stalemate. Scott came out to complete a walk thru to address the issues 5 weeks ago but since then we are unable to reach anyone. Our carpet seams have separated in addition there was not enough carpet installed initially so there are various areas near the baseboards where the subfloor is visible. The master tub deck was retiled 4 times and still not corrected-- different shades of grout used, chipped/poorly cut tile, damage to our vanity cabinets- the installer hit the cabinets with a grinder (we paid an additional premium for the 12x24 tile). We have cracked tile in a few areas of the house (bathrooms). The "floating" laminate flooring was damaged in the kitchen and laundry room during install so they repaired it by using nail glue instead of replacing properly, now the glue is separating and the floor is shifting, hence it's floating. Almost every door frame where the carpet meets the frame was damaged during the carpet installed. Like any consumer, we only desired what we paid for and to be completed correctly the first time. We did not pay for a used home! read more

We bought a special order vanity in April for around $1,000.00. In June, upon delivery the vanity arrived in disarray. Most of the drawers were off the track and most of the tracks were damaged. There were gouges on both sides of the unit. It looked like a blind person put it together and dropped it multiple times. We called immediately (and submitted pictures) and another vanity was ordered. We fortunately had time as our bathroom demo was not scheduled until August. Low and behold the second vanity was also less than prefect. Serious gouges on one side and a chip on the side the would be visible. We were offered another vanity and at this point we could not wait as out contractor was moving forward. The side with the gouges was flush against a wall so we, reluctantly accepted the defect and the chip on was touched up by my contractor and the drawer was "fixed" by my contractor was well. I was more than patient and asked for National Design Mart for a 10% discount for our multiple troubles and headaches. They checked with the manufacturer and declined. Do not buy from this company!! They send garbage and do not back the products. How many vanities would I have to go through to get an acceptable product for the full price I was paying?? read more

I don't normally post reviews but I have to give a shoutout to National Design Mart. My wife and I worked with Paul in countertops. He was really knowledgeable and really helped us as we had a hard time picking our countertops. He might be one of the nicest (and most patient) salesman we've ever worked with. This place has a huge selection and provides a much better experience than the big box stores because you can actually see the slabs in-person. It seems much better than just looking at a tiny sample and trying to figure out how it will look throughout the entire kitchen. When Dan came out to measure, he hand measured and laser plotted our kitchen. The plan came out perfect. I'd much rather go with a place like National Design Mart where they measure, cut, and install all of the time themselves instead of just contracting out to different people each time. Another thing that made it really nice...they have a babysitting area for kids (of all ages) to hangout at while parents shop. My 8 and 12 year old kids were reluctant because they thought it was for really little kids, but afterwords they actually asked us to go back to a store! My kids normally complain all the way to any store. My daughter made crafts the entire time, and my son played Jenga with one of the ladies. I agree with Dave P. I'm surprised to see any negatives. Don't ever go here. Customer service is a joke. They cut the piece wrong and admitted their mistakes after install. The installers felt awful and nick the operations manager admits there is an error in cuts and dimensions. I asked for a refund bc of the damage and was offered 1/3 of what I paid and they would take my warranty away if I took the refund! Why? Why? I asked Nick and JIm on voicemails since March 23 and never got a call back. Filed a BBB complaint in which nick offered the owner to reach out to me which never happened. Sinks dip hold water, faucet cuts unevenly spaced, and dimensions of the piece totally wrong. I gave them ample time to respond to me before I wrote a negative Facebook review, and went to the BBB. The company admitted the mistake but won't do anything to fix it they won't even call me to talk. I'm just a number and you will be too. Worst customer service. Consumers be advised! The granite is pretty but it's not worth being treated so disrespectfully. I want to add Chris The owner did come to my house and helped with the faucet holes. He also said no one ever told him about the drains and offered me new sinks after seeing how the water stood in the sink. He also did offer to redo the incorrectly cut piece. Changing my review from 1 to 3... simply because Chris did give me great service. However the process to get to him and the fact of how poorly Nick treated me does still stand. Do not do business with National Design Mart, although some of the their employees were helpful and did a good job. Their customer service and management was terrible, either they ignore you or they are rude to you. What started out as an an exciting kitchen remodel turned into a nightmare. And, they make you pay upfront, now I know why, they keep your money and give you a poorly made product.They go out of their way to make you feel bad, they are rude and tell you its your fault the product is bad, and that " you are to particular" they said. What should have taken a month or so took over 5 months. I am very heartbroken and disappointed. We paid a lot of money for much stress and many headaches. I know Northeast Factory Direct refunds customers for long wait times or errors, they treat their customers well, should have gone there. read more

Our countertop and cabinet journey began in August of 2021. We had just purchased our new home in June and I promised my to renovate the kitchen. This was the first time we have purchased cabinets and granite. While the customer service inside the store was poor (what's with the front desk people who just don't add any value) we chalked that up to post pandemic staffing issues. We placed a deposit for the granite on 8/13 and signed the cabinet paperwork on 8/25. They said it would take anywhere between 12 and 16 weeks for the cabinets to be delivered. We never heard from them again. I called toward the end of January 2022 and they said my cabinets had been received 12/26. No call...nothing. The cabinets were finally delivered 2/18/22. There were 2 damaged cabinets and issues with 6 others. I contacted the store and they put a 4 week rush on the replacements. On 3/9 the countertop templating took place. The install date was set for a month later on 4/6/22. The time in between we had to use our bath tub to wash our dishes until our contractor could re-install our old counter and plumbing to use until our new granite counter top was installed. On 4/6 our replacement cabinets were delivered and our new granite counters were installed. This granite was what my wife had always been looking for! Unfortunately the fabricator cut the sink incorrectly (at an angle). We notified the National Design Mart...they sent someone out to verify this horrific error. They said they could either recut the sink or better yet they had a remnant piece that would match the flow of the other pieces. On 4/28 they came and removed the bad piece. (Plumbing had to be unhooked/ temp counter removed) for the new piece to be installed on 5/3/2022. Well...the new piece was not even a close match. Our Contractor had to come back out, build a new temporary countertop and reinstall the plumbing. They now tell us there is no more of our granite in stock. Mind you, I have been the one calling them and following up with them this entire time. Not one manager from cabinets or counter tops had called to empathize. Lia, Corey and Alisa were sympathetic to these issues but you would have thought bells would be going off. We now have to search for new granite(settled for a lesser grade). Mark the manager finally called and said he felt terrible...after I said to the installer that no one has ever reached out to us. I told Mark that this project is costing me a fortune every time my contractor has to come out and uninstall and reinstall the plumbing. Mark gave me $600 which didn't come close to the invoice my contractor gave me. My contractor charged me nearly $2,000 for 2 uninstalls and 2 reinstalls, along with 2 temporary counter tops...just so we have a surface to work on...mark tried to say he has giving me the best he could...On 5/25/2022 the third round of granite was installed. As we endeavored through this mess, the staff in the store all knew of our story, the installers were all shocked (these guys were truly awesome) knowing what we had been through. Our odyssey with National Design Mart was finally over. Did we ever hear from anyone after the last install...No. This kitchen project I promised my wife ended up costing me much more that we budgeted due to National Design Mart. Submitted a request online to for measure to install new carpet. They came out and measured over a week ago. Never heard back, stopped in the showroom and nobody could find my measurements. Basically a waste of 1/2 day and a hour driving read more

We engaged National Design Mart for a kitchen remodel, starting with the cabinets, which was a mistake. The guy told us what he wanted, refused to give any hints as to pricing differences and when the design was complete, the price for their cabinets was outrageous. I ended up going to a reputable local cabinet maker and he gave me exactly what I wanted at a lower price than National, and it was installed. Don't waste your time with these guys. read more
