I have been in my house since December 2021. The first few bills I received started around the $70 mark. Then the bill went to about $85 up until May of 2023. I received a bill of $300, $400, and $813. Nobody can give me an explanation and when I suggested that they replace the meter they tell me it is my responsibility. I have had a plumber come and check my home for leaks and none were found. I truly believe my HOA and NES are swindling my neighbors out of money. How is it a company in Florida is servicing a neighborhood in Atlanta, GA? The billing issue still exists with no true explanation for what is going on. One of the worst experiences ever with a so-called "business". First of all I live in Jersey & am utterly confused that the building management would use a company in Florida, of all places. They tried to scam me into setting up automatic payment by holding my on-time check payments. September of 2023, they held my check for three months. This outfit is the mafia of water companies. I was forced to use them by the owner of the apartments I rent in Florida. I have lived in my present location for three full years, and I have averaged 600-900 gallons of water usage for 34 of the past 36 months. On month 35, my water usage jumped to 2,900 gallons per month, and instead of my bill averaging $50.00 per month as usual, it jumped to $240.00 for month 35. The apartment maintenance people checked for a leak, and none was found. I contacted the "Customer Service Department" and asked the CSR department to review the bill. I received a call back advising that the bill is in line because the average daily use for one person is 100 gallons per day. I disputed this with the CSR. I live alone and have no dishwasher or washing machine, and I use the shower at my local gym which eliminates using the shower in the apartment. I made the CSR aware of this, and he continued to state that the amount of water usage was accurate. He disconnected the call and blocked me to avoid my call back. I have interviewed the other tenants in the building where I live, and no one has ever gotten a bill as large as mine. I am awaiting the bill for month 36. I was out of my apartment for most of this month; however, I feel sure that I will be billed for at least 2,900 gallons of water for this month. Beginning month 37, I have discontinued ALL water use in my apartment. I purchase four 5 gallon jugs of water weekly and 2 cases of bottled water. This is far from 100 gallons per day, and I actually have water remaining at the end of each week. I have little doubt that I will once again be billed for 2,900 gallons of water for month 37. This company has reduced dishonesty to an art form. My rating for this outfit is actually a negative one star, but the minus sign has been omitted from the options. read more

With a 5$ water bill + $7 sewer bill + $25 vallet trash (total $37) = ended up paying $47 which means $10 in fees, which is unacceptable! Trash sometimes is not picked up during scheduked days, which means it piles up in the halls ajd stairway, again unacceptable. If you could avoid using the services of this company, STAY FAR AWAY. Use a different utility sub-billing company if you cannot use regular companies. There's a reason NES has a C minus rating from the BBB. If zero stars were an option, that is what I'd choose. This company engages in **highly illegal**, deceptive, and fraudulent billing practices. They in engage in EXTREME usury in violation of Florida statutes by charging late fees literally equal to more than *SEVENTY PERCENT* of the total monthly utility charges on average. In contrast, Florida law limits such fees to far less than 10 percent of outstanding balances (utility companies nationwide charge one percent to four percent of past due balances on average). The condo docs of my HOA moreover limit late fees to 10 percent of outstanding balances of association dues. Thus, NES is in violation of both Florida law and the governing docs of my HOA by charging fees of SEVENTY PERCENT, more than 7 times the legal limit! NES violates both Florida usury and other consumer laws, as well as the condo docs applicable to my building. In contrast to the approximately 5 percent late fee limit applicable under Florida law, where my monthly utility bills for actual usage average around $25 (electricity only, where I'm out of town half the month and have only an energy efficient fridge running consistently, LED bulbs only, and no TV), NES charges a $15 late fee for being FIVE DAYS late on a balances of less than $25!!! Also, NES engages in numerous deceptive billing practices. For example, among other things, they bury late fees in your "current charges," trying to mask their fraudulent late fees rather than breaking them down. And they only allow you to see one month of billing, so you can't even look at the "previous" late fees they slap on you. And their customer "service" is non-existent, with everyone I've ever communicated with denying both the illegality and fraud of their practices, and also telling me they don't have the authority to do anything. The above is only a portion of the very serious fraudulent practices of, and problems with, this business. Unfortunately, the homeowner's association of my condo building, located in the Atlanta, Georgia metro area, currently uses their services, which I am actively lobbying to have them terminate. I am also preparing a complaint against this company to file with each of: 1) the BBB, 2) the Florida Attorney General's Office, and 3) a potential state court civil complaint. DO NOT USE THEM, AND IF YOU ARE FORCED TO BE A CUSTOMER, BE VERY CAREFUL IN MONITORING THEIR CHARGES! Had the misfortune of dealing with this company for years as they were the water service for multiple properties. Their customer service is terrible and the billing can never be properly explained as the charges never add up correctly. To top it off when closing an account it requires jumping through multiple hoops. The icing on the cake- they then require ME to provide them the new owners info in order to close my account. Why is that my responsibility?! Until the customer points out they don't understand there mistake. Too may mistakes with the office staff. They read the meter wrong, when the meter is replaced they till keep on reading the defective meter and report zero reading. The staff incompetent, inaccurate and careless. i have been using this company for about 3 yrs, not by choice but because my community uses them. I have heard many horror stories on the Community group chat. Anyway as i have never had any issue with them, i just observe and kept on moving...until now.. while as i type i am awaiting a call back. So My property has been empty since Feb. 2018. My March bill was about $9 i paid $10. As the property "is" empty I paid it late so, i expected the $15 late charge, so i paid $40. leaving a CR. next bill April $26 ok ..the property is empty. i have credit, allocated for late fee..May $58 OK...i called ..the rep is unable to explain. so i am pending a call back from someone who can explain how a empty prop water goes up every month!! .. The company responded that it was easy to set up autopay, but when I spoke with a rude customer service agent they didnt seem to have the same memo and made no mention of Autopay and were annoyed to have to deal with customers. Maybe you fixed your online portal since I last had to deal with it but I would generally advise against defending your company by referring folks to your customer service. My bill came out to around $14. To pay online, they force you to pay a processing fee as far as I can tell. It was there for e-check as well as for card. The processing fee was $3.50! That's an additional 25% fee (for me at least) just to process you payment! I'm also forced to use them where I live, gotta love monopolies. If I pay on-line ELECTRONICALLY with my credit card, or via my checking account, there is an additional $3.50 transaction fee, but if I snail mail my check to NES, and they physically have to: 1) open the envelope 2) manually enter my payment into their accounting system, and 3) submit my paper check for payment, it cost NOTHING? So by making this totally electronic, with no one actually touching my payment, I get billed an additional $3.50?? No other utility or for that matter, anyone that I use my credit card or pay by eCheck, charges a service fee. Can you imagine what would happen if Amazon did that??? This company is horrible. They just charged me a water bill of $165.00 for March 2022. Up until then, I had normal water bills except one other time in September 2020 when I had a problem with this service and the last management of our complex who charging for services that were not included in the lease - irrigation. I have a track record of paying around $45.00-$55.00 for myself only for the last 7 years as one person living in an apartment. When I called National Exemption, they suggested it might be a leak. So, I contacted the city and also the apartment complex to check. The city checked with no leaks on their end. The apartment complex said that there were new meters and an 8% increase on water bills. When I called the city, they told us the meters had been placed in our apartment in 2020 and there was a 8% price increase but that happened in July 2021 so it ruled those explanations out as a possible reason for an increase. The apartment complex never returned our money to us (a family of four below me was also charged $165.00 and another single lady in a different building was forced to pay $165.00 as well) and made us pay the $165.00 or face financial penalties. I didn't have any internal leaks either. Last night, I just go charged an $80.00 water bill. Do NOT use this service. read more

Where do I start? Zero customer service and quite possibly a racket. Water bill always around $50/month then all of a sudden shoots up to over $300 for 2 months in a row. I have emailed and called nonstop and after about a dozen attempts, I finally had someone speak to me. It will take them another 3 weeks at least to physically read the meter. I have never sued anyone in my life (I'm pretty much anti-lawsuits) and I am considering hiring a lawyer. This is the worst run company I have ever seen and I did not think anyone could top Comcast. I live in NJ our apartment changed their contract this year and we all tenants have to pay for our Utility bill every month. When I got my first bill I was shocked it cost $50 then $55 I'm like what the ???? The last apartment I rented was only less than $80 every 3 months for same bill. I found out that I missed the last month bill-they didn't send me bill card in which is like a post card it could've easily lost in the mail...until I got the late fee letter they charged me $15 as a result. I tried to email them since I am deaf I could not call directly, all I got was this is the bill blah blah, as if they did not read my email in fully detailed explaining that I didn't get the bill in the first place and had no idea whether it was monthly or every 3rd month bill. As for sewer/water bills-watch where you are living, some apartments do share with other tenants say if other tenants in same apartment building are using more water/sewer than you, you end up paying for their share...make sure you ask your superintendent for more info...I don't understand since I live in NJ we pay our bills to FL company doesn't make sense... read more

I've tried to work with this company to help them fix issues but they clearly don't seem to care. So disappointed with their billing, tactics, ethics, etc...Really wish my apartment complex didn't just take the billing payments into their hands but the entire account out of NES' hands. There's a reason so many things haven't been going right for so long. Why should I, as a customer have to prove my meter (usage & number) & take pictures for months now, to track everything? Since after so long they TOLD me to track it on my own & I started to but that wasn't enough, I need SOLID proof! Didn't even matter that I'm disabled & mainly bed bound, can't even possibly use some of the numbers they were coming up with!!! Why should I also know that what they've told me & how they're waiting for some other water company to send information is totally wrong...that information goes straight to their company & not from a totally different water company! I've watched our maintenance guy call & speak directly to NES about my meter, run water to see how many gallons showed on their end. Naturally this just happened to be 2 weeks after they replaced the meters outside...hmmm, sure finally my meter was reading "usage" correct however didn't help for all the months of major overage payments I already paid though! Why do I know all of this & then some? Proof after proof...& this is after I tried to help them for over a year, thinking they would be honest at the end of it all! Very sad & yet they are still causing issues. I get e-bills but yet I have gotten so many different stories about why those bills from water usage of 2 months prior & rent that is always the same are taking so long. If I could give them 0 stars, I would!!! This is the worst company I had to deal with so far! If you can avoid dealing with the National Exemption Services, please do! This company does everything possible to rip you off. I am forced to deal with them by the apartment complex I live in, and, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to change that. So far, I've received five bills from them - three paper and two electronic. All three paper bills came between the 28th and 31st of the month with the due date on the first of the next month!!! Of course, if the payment is late, they charge Late Fee of $15! So, with three past due bills, I had to call them three times and every time they would "correct" my bill and tell me that they are going to put the note on my account about me receiving the bill late only to charge me $15 on the next one. The ONLY bill that came on-time was ONE of the electronic bills. The second electronic bill arrived after I had called the company wondering where my bill was. After receiving the bill (electronic) on-time, I've notice it to be incorrect (no surprise here!) again! This time, instead of late fee, I had two sewer charges. If you cannot avoid dealing with them, please pay attention to the numbers. I still wonder, how they calculate the charges! Example: 202 GL: water - $23.21 sewer - $10.72; 3,952 GL: water - $34.66 sewer - $20.67; 2,300 GL: water - $29.22 sewer - $15.21; 4,000 GL: water - $22.95 sewer - $20.88; 1,370 GL: water - $26.34 sewer - $13.41!
