Every time I visit (initial, follow-up with general treatment, and follow-up with specific treatment) I always get to see and talk to Dr. Schwartz. Appointments don't take too long, however, I'm never rushed, can ask as many questions as I need, and she explains everything is detail. She's extremely thorough and kind (which is a nice touch when you're experiencing pain or discomfort). When I called the office for my MRI results I received a call back from Dr. Schwartz within 5 minutes. I should also note how WONDERFUL the rest of the office is, from the front desk to the nurses. I've only visited the Wisconsin Ave office which is in a large office building with other practices. Parking is $5 for the first hour and I've never needed more than 1 hour.

I initially saw him for orthotics. Dr Firestone was tireless in making sure that the orthotics were exactly right and called the manufacturer numerous times to have them modified until they were right for my foot. I also saw him for a painful toe. His treatment quickly and gently resolved the problem. Most recently a neuroma was causing pain and hindering my ability to take the long walks that I love. After carefully examining my foot and my orthotic Dr Firestone felt that a modification to my orthotic would help resolve the problem. Dr Firestone personally sent a picture to the orthotic manufacturer detailing exactly what he wanted done. He will contact me when they are ready. I know from my previous experience with him that he will not be satisfied until " he makes it right for me." The spectrum of advice has…read morebeen from the palliative (orthotics) to the extreme (i.e. surgery) but only one doctor in all these years has actually treated them. When I first went to see Dr. Carver it was because of the discomfort that I was having. I now have virtually no pain. He has actually shrunk them in a painless and non invasive way using ECSW - Extra Corporal Shock Wave therapy. He's been a real lifesaver. I don't know what I would do without him.

My intention when I first went to see Dr. Carter was just to receive an examination of my foot bones; however, he somehow talked me in to getting fitted for $500 shoe inserts and $200 rubber toe bumper guards in the first 10 minutes of the appointment. (This is probably my fault; I am bad at saying "no".) I managed to decline the toe bumper guards, since I knew I would never wear them, but decided to accept the cost of the $500 shoe inserts. While checking out, he then proceeded to bill me for the cost of my appointment in full ($200), instead of my traditional $10 copay, despite the fact that he takes my health insurance. He assured me that he would "forward my health insurance reimbursement to me" when he received it. Shady. Several weeks later, a check for $88 appeared in my mailbox; it was a personal check, handwritten by the doctor. Nothing else was in the envelope; there was no note, no receipt, nothing. I called his office and asked for some paperwork; I wanted him to prove that out of my $200 out-of-pocket appointment, my only reimbursement was $88. Several days later, I received another envelope in the mail from him, that contained an invoice he had handwritten. It just said "Patient owed $88 from health care company". Again, no official paperwork, only his own handwriting. My healthcare company however did send me official paperwork, saying that my total reimbursement should have been over $150, not a mere $88. I photocopied all this paperwork and mailed it back to Dr. Carver, asking him to please explain and to please reimburse me in full. That was over a month ago. Predictably, no response. Dr. Carver, you owe me some money.

WORST OFFICE ADMINISTRATION I HAVE EXPERIENCED - stay away, far away! Got to new patient line after calling back, and the "new patient" receptionist (Sheila) couldn't even articulate what my appt. was being scheduled for (just a new patient appt.) I took a risk and explained a very personal medical condition and interlinkages to my feet, so I really needed to understand what the Dr. would see me for and again I got "new patient appt." I started to ask for alternate help when she just hung up...like hung up on me. I called back, got the initial surly individual who couldn't xfer me to the very siloed "new patient" line, and asked for the practice manager. She put me on hold for 5 min., came back and said they weren't there, so I asked for their email, and after another 5 min. on hold, I was told they "aren't allowed to give out practice manager's business email." That's 20 min. I'm never getting back and the worst medical office administration I have experienced in the DMV. Go somewhere else, the front of the house patient care says a lot.
