5.3 GM AFM mechanical delete $$$. I believe the employees here have a good knowledge for what they do. Unfortunately my silverado has been back multiple times for engine light and codes. They have been unable to figure it out after further tuning and part replacement. Nice guys and I believe they are trying, but I'm tired of going back. If they had figured out the issue I would give 4 stars. Sorry... After another visit with engine light on, they diagnosed the issue...bad 02 wire harness. Terrible. After spending over $18,000, had my C4 Corvette delivered back to me and it barely ran right off the bat. Hard starting. Stalls after hard acceleration, then won't start for 10 minutes. Ran crazy rich. Now it just won't start at all -- period. This tuner guy does not know what he is doing. I never even saw any dyno documentation. They kept my car for months, charging me for storage, then for towing every time they moved it back and forth to the shop from storage. Spent thousands just on this. Now the car just sits because I can't afford to get it fixed. This NEW Procharged, Holley Stealth Ram/Dominator efi, water/meth injected 383 stroker engine with all forged internals has about 100 miles on it. This place will bleed you dry. A family member spent $4k on an aftermarket ECU and tune that was recommended to him by National Speed since the current ECU died. National Speed recommended, installed, and tuned the car with the aftermarket ECU. I had some concerns with the tune and was told "We don't work on mustangs with megasquirts anymore" (MegaSquirt is the aftermarket ECU). Its very un-ethical to sell someone a $3k ECU after install and then say you don't work on it anymore. Why was this recommended to begin with if that's the case? They are supposed to have one of the best tuners in the business. Very disappointed. It seems like National Speed just wants to get your money, but when it comes to issues afterwards, they don't want to stand by their work or products they sell. read more

How this business has 5-stars is beyond me. Had them do an engine build while I was deployed. They did all aspects of the build. From removing, building, installing the engine and even tuning. Paid over $8000. It lasted 3 days. They never rectified the situation. read more

This shop is awful, cruel and disrespectful. "Worker" 'Sam' Helped me schedule a service, that I two hours later then canceled Via Text (how we scheduled the appointment) After calling day in and day out, He finally answered to me a WEEK later reassured me that "We can't charge you for work we haven't done" but the flip to that is, he's going to charge you full upfront for the service and then say they can't refund deposits. This shop stole $1700 from me and refuses to give me a refund and they HAVENT EVEN SEEN MY CAR IN PERSON, then proceeds to disrespect my spouse using inappropriate MISOGYNISTIC comments towards her. None the less if they'll treat a disabled veteran and their spouse like this, DO NOT GET YOUR WORK DONE HERE. read more

Nothing but good things to say about this shop. Kevin was great to talk to for consulting to figure out what I wanted to do with my 2015 Mustang GT. I knew I wanted her louder, but wasn't sure entirely what I wanted. After some back and forth and getting questions answered (I was a little hesitant with possibly voiding factory warranties), we decided on getting some long tube headers, catback exhaust, a cold air intake, and doing a custom dyno tune. The parts were ordered and came in very quickly. And Kevin got me great prices on my parts. I was scheduled for install a few weeks after, and just got my car back yesterday. She sounds AMAZING!! I couldn't be happier. They also let me back to get video of my car on the last dyno run. There's something magical about hearing your car on a dyno flooring it. . I got updates and even progress photos from them which made it fun for social media. I'll definitely take my car back to them for my next mods...which will be some suspension work. I didn't want to change TOO much on my new Fiesta ST, but I knew what it was actually capable of. I talked to Jordan, who was awesome, about exactly what I wanted. He did upsell me on a rear motor mount (which wasn't even expensive), but man, he knew it would give me what I wanted. They put in a high-flow filter, set up an Accessport from Cobb, installed the RMM, and gave the whole thing a tune. It took just a couple of hours and I just hung around the shop chatting with people - everyone there is great and they each have their own awesome car stories. I watched the before/after dyno runs in amazement. They were able to crank out more that 30hp and 60lb-ft without any real parts, just a computer and Vlad's (their professional tuner) expertise! Driving it away, power band is noticeably longer, smoother, and definitely quicker. In terms of price, it was all really resonable - and I know I couldn't get these results anywhere else. Even from out of state, I'd never hesitate to come back to these guys. Just incredible. read more

I am updating my review for National Speed as they are now under new management. I had a bad experience with them in the past, but I will say that Jordan did reach out to me to express his remorse for the bad experience, and he even offered to make things right by offering to hook my R/T Challenger up with some mods. I never took advantage of his offer because I sold the R/T for a Hellcat and also because I don't live anywhere near NC anymore. However, I do appreciate that he was willing to take responsibility and make things right, and because of this, I have raised my rating to 4 stars. read more

Love these guys! I've taken several of my cars up here before from the south end of Myrtle Beach. It's a good 2 hour drive north and I pass by lots of shops on my way up, but to get tuned by Vlad and have Andrew work on my 2019 Mustang is worth the time and extra effort. Up front Kevin & Matt are great to talk too and very in the know, true car guys, they gte it. My only thing holding me back from giving them a 5/5 is how busy the always are, being busy is good.., to a point then it effects timelines ect. In the end, they are great to work with and worth the trip from afar. read more

Horrible, my uncle took his 6.0 supercharged 2500 Sierra to get it dynotuned and he provided all modifications recent and past for the tuner to have an accurate baseline. In the process of tuning, even after paying for the pre-Dyno inspection to verify that everything could be done safely, they managed to melt 2 spark plugs causing the cylinders walls to scar. Ruined motor and they are not compensating for the damage that they caused. read more

Dear reader, I am writing this review because I believe it is difficult to find quality service like this. I came to National Speed because I wanted a specialist to restore the ride quality and suspension in my 2005 sedan Infiniti G35 back to original, and I felt that my regular mechanic was more of a generalist. Hence, I reached out to Jordan and George and also interacted with some of the technicians. My overall impression was that these are all very friendly people who are well informed about the best options to help make my 2005 sedan G35 with 125,000 miles restore back to original ride quality. Though this is by no means a budget maintenance garage outfit, I highly recommend National Speed based on both the friendliness and expertise I encountered. That, and my daily driver Infiniti G35 rides superbly now over bumps and uneven surfaces and even displays a slight improvement to sport handling as well. Very happy. Thomas S. read more

National Speed offers ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE after getting paid. No responsibility after the sale! I paid to have a performance intake on my 2008 Corvette about the same time I paid for a performance cam / top end job at National Speed. About a year later the engine sucked in parts of the rubber spacer. Aluminum is the preferred material, not rubber. National Speed refused to replace. Jeff Gordan service replaced it for me. For a year the engine would seriously over heat. I spend thousands of dollars replacing radiator, hose, thermostats, custom fans, etc. The car could not idle at a stop light without getting very hot. I could not drive in summer traffic. I was forced to rent cars for vacations and long business trips. Then the oil pump went out about 18 or so months after all the work had been done by National Speed. Jeff Gordan stated that part of the rubber intake spacer had gotten into the engine causing it to make metal. This metal was destroying engine components including the oil pump. The engine was totaled. I was out well over $13,000 in damages and National Speed assumed zero responsibility! Dyno tune registers higher HP settings than other speed shops that I have visited. I have had two National Speed dyno tunes that I was promised videos but never received them. During the first tune they forgot to electronically disconnect the back exhaust sensor and tried to charge me for that task several weeks later when I discovered the issue. Sadly, I will never go back to National Speed or recommend them to any friends. read more

I recently purchased a 1983 VW Rabbit GTi with some serious work done to it. Original 1.8 8V with a Callaway Turbo kit running meth. I was in contact with Dane to see if we could get a little tuning done on the dyno. He informed me to swing by the shop so they could take a look at everything and go from there. I swung by the shop on a Saturday close to closing time and Adam said if I had time we could put it on the dyno to see what it makes and we could set up an appointment next Saturday for some tuning. I was very impressed and pleased with how I was treated on the phone (by Dane) and in person with Adam. I was pleasurably surprised they offered to run the GTi on the dyno real quick and it being so close to closing time. I will DEFINITELY be coming back for some tuning time next week. National speed stay clear of buying anything they are horrible.. The management horrible. The desk justin great. I ordered a f1a94 for a price tag. In April we had to order because they stated prices would go up. Which was the first lie. Continue to read please. So around June I ran into financial hardship. I called to ask for a refund they told me they cant because part was already there. That was also a lie. Continue to read. So I then stated i will come and pick it up and possibly at that point i didnt not know when i would be doing install. They told me i had too wait because they had sent the wrong one and they had to send it back. That too was a lie. I called procharger direct at this point. They told me that national speed had only ordered one procharger for my type car in June right after I asked for refund. So they lied about order in April they lied about receiving wrong one. They lied about price going up or in June when they did order it would be more. So finally at end of June a kit came in. I drove to get it. Got all the way to my tech who is also a procharger dealer and guess what wrong kit. I called walt and sandy from procharger they stated national speed did not give them a year for the 2006 Pontiac gto which kits have 3 different numbers for the three different years. So then national speed refused to pay to ship so I had to drive it 2.5 hours back to them. At this point I'm irate. I then called and spoke with justin and pushed to get the kit I paid in full in April and told him all about the lies and games. He then proceeded to take kit on Monday by Friday kit was still not sent back so I called procharger and they wanted pictures which they had told them they were too lazy to do things quickly even tho at this point. Finally it went back I told justin, that Keith or Kevin whichever claims to be a manager should be working at McDonald's. So Keith we will say then called me back and yelled at me. Literally yelling at a customer. I am on every No prep page.I am on every single lsx page. I am a member of 2 car clubs in myrtle beach alone. I had additional work that was going to be done at the shop. That was the most un professional situation from the lies to the berating by the manager. Waste of months of my car at a shop waste of gas and time. I would have bought it local but was a gift we paid over the phone so no we were not told about refund. I asked for proof he said he heard the call but would not let me hear it. The manager ducked all my calls and visits until I spoke badly about him. Now just yesterday the proper kit got dropped to Big Ls performance in Conway. Because once I make sure it's the right kit. No offense im taking this to the internet. I had a shifter that now cant be installed because your shop was going to do it. Honestly it was the worst experience with a shop ever after spending and almost another 3k in labor. Im so glad my car is not there because I would have had the run around why it isnt finished. read more

They supposedly shaved the head without doing the block.... That doesn't work on 7mgte's first off. They put a MLS head gasket with ARP head studs (O yea! I was charged for the studs, but they put the bolts on instead which is about a $30 difference; however, the studs can hold over 700bhp and the bolts can't). So that's 1 mistake by them, Then they said it would be around $1200-$1400 after they are finished, turn key. It ended up being around $2000 after many of there inexperience's with the 7m. Not only big problems but they didn't even know how to get a snap ring off my HKS BOV so I could put it back on my car. One month later the car blows the fuck up after I spent over $4000 on it to get it in top shape, which it was, until I took the car to National Speed to get it worked on. It blew up one month later and now I DON'T HAVE A FUCKING SUPRA! read more

I'll start by saying I' m a car enthusiast and always have been, but money has always been hard to come by. That being said, whenever I needed work done on my 240, why pay to have it done twice? I figure why not take it somewhere where it will be done once, and done RIGHT. I was in the shop during numerous dyno days and have listened to Jordan and Nick talk about every conceivable platform to a degree I could barely understand. John came and personally talked to me about the work he was going to do on my car before I agreed to anything. He explained every component in great detail beforehand and I had no qualms after that! After I came to pick back up the car, John came and talked to me again and told me of any issues he had, how he fixed it and even mentioned he cleaned up some loose stuff for free! There is no better speedshop in NC, or even on the east coast for that matter. Sorry for the long review, but these guys are top notch. Will definitely be returning. read more

Stay away. Took my heavily modified 93 Ford Mustang 5.0 there because it was running really rich and not to its potential. And oh by the way, I was told this awesome tuner named Randy did all the tuning there. Go there, no Randy, he no longer works with us I was told but Vlad can do the same thing.......yeah sorta like I can play bball as good as LeBron James. When I left, on the drive back to Jacksonville the car ran worse, was backfiring, had a low coolant and airbag light on. Called them, no answer of course. Emailed them and was told well you can bring it back down...what for them to keep it another week and probably run worse, yeah ok. After about 10 emails then a couple months lapse in communication and them not willing to reimburse a single penny...NEVER AGAIN. Lesson learned the hard way. Never saw baseline dyno numbers...still haven't. So did it even get a tune...doubt it. $700+ bye bye. read more

I brought my S2000 in after it shut off just outside of Wilmington. Tow truck guy suckers me into taking it to national speed. After looking at a couple different reviews I decide to take it there. Upon arrival one of the techs asks what happened so I tell him it shut off right after the oil light came on and that I NEVER attempted to restart the car for fear of causing more damage (oil pump and spun bearing?). The tech agrees that it was a good thing I didn't restart it and says they'll take a look at my car and let me know ASAP what's wrong. Well I call them after the weekend and I speak to an apathetic f*c$er who said (verbatim) "to find out what was wrong with it we restarted your car and it started knocking like crazy do we shut it off and checked the oil. There was metal shavings in the oil. PROBABLY need a new motor man." WTF?!?!? Really? They couldn't have checked the oil first? F*ck these guys. Dont believe any positive reviews of this place Bc they probably logged online and wrote them themselves. And insult to injury these a^sholes wanted to charge me a "$100 diagnostic fee" and they couldn't even DIAGNOSE the problem. Ridiculous. Needless to say I didn't pay it. If it wasn't for moving in the next few days I would have brought their asses to court. read more
