Man in white sweater clipping his nails!! In front of staff and customers at the sushi bar
    Doris L.

WARNING! very gross!! Quality at this place keeps going down hill, 1) I found a pube in my cake, yes I bought sliced cake and at the buttom of the plastic container was a pube. Not it wasn't from la Rocca it was their staff handling the product that let it slip in 2) DISGUSTING man clipping his nails at the sushi bar, you can legit hear the sound of nails being clipped echoing the prepared food area. Honestly how do you have such lack of awareness to do this infront of customers. To make matters worse they had another co-worker just not even commenting on it working nearby. DISGUSTING!!

This store is huge and has a wide selection of Asian products. As soon as you enter you see a sign that says "East meets West", which is exactly how you feel when you're inside. There are food stations at the front which is like a good court style where you can either pack your own food or ask one of the stations behind the counter. They have a huge selection of cooked food in their hot as well as in the fridges which include large salads, middle Eastern food and sushi. The aisles are large and there are promo products in the aisles as well so be sure to check those out as well

$6.50 on sale curry chicken bowl
    Gray R.

I work near this place so I come here often for lunch. There's a lot of variety in the hot food section, but more unique to this section is a teppanyaki grill and a shawarma station, both of which I tried. I had the curry chicken bowl (on sale for $6.50, teppanyaki section) and it was great. Really good portion size, curry was rich and full of flavour, and best of all the chicken was all white meat. I came back again to try the chicken shawarma on rice bowl (also when it was on sale, $5, shawarma section) and it was great too. Portion size was good for the price, enough sauce, and the flavour was fantastic. Other shawarma shops charge $10+ for maybe around 30% more shawarma, so this is really a steal. I couldn't finish it and ended up having to eat it for dinner. It leans towards being less oily than normal shawarma, which I personally liked since it means its healthier. I also went to the bakery department for dessert; bought a couple slices of cake and some cannoli for dessert; both were really good. Rich and creamy but portions run large so I split them with a co-worker. Compared to other Asian grocery stores, the hot food section here has much more variety and are priced a bit more competitively. My only negative comment is that they only accept cash/debit. I thought that was only the hot food checkout section but I checked and its the entire supermarket. I purposely have to bring my debit card or count my cash before coming here.

I've been shopping at Nations since it open. It takes a mood because I do find with Chinese stores and Asian customers, asians are usually quiet and keep to themselves. With other customers....it makes the overall experience quite aggressive. I had gone one time and an southeast Indian was honking at my mother to walk faster and almost clips her. I had to get the police involved with the video evidence of the guy having a shouting match with a lady double his age and vulgar language. I also find that the hardware store parking is full of grocery store customers....and theres just a danger to get clipped in the plaza. Occasionally the fighting rage of customers to get into the plaza from the Winston Churchill is a lot. Once you get passed all that nonsense you finally get in. You are welcomed with an array of take out foods, though the odd thing, I dont see many of the Employees eat the food do I see them carry their home containers with premade food from home..odd why dont they eat the take out..no idea. The meat section has some nice people servicing it but rarely busy, it has a more Metro counter feel than a Chinese store butcher. I see a lot of the meats going brown, some with dates that they were packed the same day already showing evidence of degradation. I do find the cuts of bones cleaned through, pork neck that would otherwise be $2 for a large sack are around $4-6. The seafood frozen are very diverse, but in the fresh you do have some options for fresh. But do shop with caution, a lot of the seafood do not say where they are sourced and a lot of the individual package do not tell you anymore information, either. Eaten occasionally should have minimal risk, but if fetched from an untrusted source may contain higher than normal levels of mercury. The dried sections are immense in selection, there are no complaints. Oddly the aisles are often empty, I'm not sure why but it's definitely worth checking out. They also have a grand selection of candies. Do shop caucasian items with caution. One time I decided to convenience buy Kool Aid from the store and found the items were expired but still stocked. My return was processed, had I drank it would have minimal risk...but paying full price for expired items not cool. The vegetable dont seem to be on sale but are mid priced range. It's very unusual to shop at this grocer because most Chinese stores will have maybe 3 or 4 types of vegetables that are really on sale. On check out...its a bit of a tight fit and I'm a slim build. It seems to be designed for efficiency of space, though the staff do not check out customers with the same suave speed of Chinese stores and plastic bags will cost you. The location takes cash or debit bo credit card-which is a bit saddening because it's a store that advertises East Meet West, why not western convenience too. Even today some Chinese stores take credit card so personally I prefer for monitoring my spending on my regular grocery credit card. I rate this 2. It could be improved greatly. There are Chinese stores that will give you less anxiety and less hit and run, less shouting match with aggressive customers and better quality meat cuts with the convenience of credit card transactions.

I've been told this is the cheaper sister supermarket to Oceans. I read a few reviews and it seems that the hot food section is the standout star of this supermarket. I've only been once but I did notice the sizeable section of the hot food section and the variety. I picked up a roast chicken leg for $3 to go with my ramen and veggies for dinner. If I'm ever in the area and require groceries or a quick meal I'll make sure to stop by.

Nations Fresh Foods is a real neat grocery store with a fantastic food court! They call themselves a "multi-cultural grocery store" and they are just that (how Canadian, I know, haha). They have food items from all over the world under one roof, so cool! What I love most about them though, is their food court! They have burgers, fries, pizza and pasta. They have dim sum, as well as more substantial Chinese offerings. They have sushi. They have a salad bar and a "hot food bar" where you pay by the weight, and you can get jerk chicken, Italian meat balls, cabbage rolls, and so much more, there's just so much variety and so many different cuisines. They also have a lot of prepackaged salads with nice combinations beyond the usual "Garden, Caesar, Greek and Cobb." These are very reasonably priced. The place is very big and clean and nicely decorated. The eating area is upstairs, and they even have some booths. Food court prices are really cheap (except for the pay by the weight stuff). The Chinese food combos are $7.49 for a rice/noodle, 2 mains and a soup (your choice of hot and sour or wonton). The rice/noodle sides are really good and actually have protein and vegetables in them, they are not just plain rice or plain fried noodles like at most places. Like you can get Singapore noodles as your noodle side (!) I got one of these combos for lunch and everything was great, especially for the price! Much better than places like Manchu Wok, Tiki Ming, etc. They also have a deli section and a bakery. Their fish department is separated (encased in glass with sliding doors) as to contain the smell. I discovered this place thanks to Yelp and I'm so glad that I did.

Nations is an authentic, ethnic grocery store targeting foods from mostly Asian countries. But this review is for the take out, the dine in lunches, the sprawling buffet and the diverse hot food counters that I've found myself indulging in almost every other day that I'm at work (embarrassed to admit I eat out so much, but not really..). Shawarma, fresh rustic pizza slices, Chinese food, buffet of pastas, chicken, veggies, rice, fish and a counter for fries & burgers of the chicken and beef variety. I've tried it all. Not one complaint. When you enter the store, you can find all these delicious options pretty much at the front to the right. There are two buffets; one where you can make your own salad with all the fixings (and I do mean all) and another for mixed hot foods. You can guarantee they will have at least 3 types of chicken, fried fish, roasted potatoes, two types of pasta including meat & veggie lasagna, and steamed veggies. It's always stocked up, hot and fresh. It's only $6 per pound of WHATEVER you want, you could literally just fill your container with chicken wings if you want. A lot of the time they have sales on their buffet, $2 off per pound!! You can also "order" Chinese food at the long counter along the wall: noodles, chicken, pork, rice, egg rolls, you get the point. At the counter right by the front door order an amazing burger and fries for only $3 between the hours of 12:00-2:00!!! Try their Spicy Chicken Burger, it's 100% the best I've ever had in all my life. I'll add more photos as I splurge! Oh yes, there will be more.

Volcano chicken noodle hot + spicy.
    Richard W.

Volcano chicken noodle is sure hot + spicy!!!! Any type of meat, vegs, etc can be added to the noodles. Big portion sized, filling, thick noodles, If you've the tolerance for hot + spicy noodles try it. If one can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. Spicy rating: 5 extremely hot + spicy yummy!!!! I'll definitely make more future purchases, I highly recommend this product.

Bring your patience while in this parking lot!

TIP: Don't forget to bring your own reusable shopping bags as they charge for plastic bags here! Prepared food heaven! I expected this place to just be another Chinese grocery store, so I was overwhelmed when I literally stepped into a FOOD COURT with choices like: burgers, sushi, your usual Chinese food, "Western food", dim sum, salad, bakery, etc. I'd say half of the store is geared towards people on-the-go. Cooking? Ain't no one gotz time for that! However, if you do, Nations still has you covered! Owned by Oceans, I found this store much cleaner, better lighting, & better smelling. Layout of merchandise is better, but there were still boxes in between aisles with stuff, but for some reason it didn't look as sloppy. I think the lighting helps A LOT. Although the place was crowded and busy on a Saturday afternoon, the shoppers weren't as ghetto rude as Oceans. If you lack patience, park further away, towards the back or Rona!

This place is owned by Oceans but are higher end . Meaning cleaner and smells better . The parking lot can be a bit of a pain . Just as bad as Oceans . Meat counters much cleaner but comes with a higher price . If you look at the staff you might think that you are at a Loblaws . The thing that made me not like this store was they CHARGE FOR BAGS NO ASIAN STORE DOES THAT . call me old fashion but Btrust win my heart I will only go back for sales. Store does look nice.

CHEAT or DIET?:…read more CHEAAATTTT Ok I'd like to foreword that I'm only reviewing the pistachio cake from Highland Farms. Now let me tell you about this cake. Is it moist? Yes. Is sweet? Absurdly yes. Is it worth it? If it fits in your macros, then yes. This cake is delicious and cheap. I ain't gunna lie. It's like if Wonderful Pistachios married a twinkie. This cake was $28 + tax. Definitely great for parties and not for eating yourself . it's definitely on the sweeter side, so I wouldn't share with your Asian moms. They're going to complain it's too sweet. But overall pretty good if you're bulking or don't care about calories. Shoutout to the cake people. Their service is great and nice, and they even decorate the cake box with ribbons. The cashiers leave much to be desired, but I guess this isn't Costco lol. Ambiance feels like a European grocery store at the size of a warehouse store. Deli had hot food and cold salads but no protein based salads. Ended up getting a small premade pasta salad, a trio of hummus, and prepackaged grilled chicken breast strips. Nothing was great. Looks like they have a plentiful produce section and a bakery. Aside from that, less than optimal grocery store. I would not recommend stopping here if you shop at other places. If this is your usual spot, you already know what's good/bad about it. Bring your own bag or buy one when you check out. Bathrooms are near checkout, they're decent. Plenty of parking on both sides of the store.

Review for only the bakery section, not the grocery department…read more I gave the Adonis baked goods section a try as they had a wide selection of cookies, full sized cakes, and treats, and I love pistachio flavoured sweets, which they had lots of. Since it was right after the holidays they had small and medium gift packages of cookies, and cookies individually are priced by weight, though there was frequent lack of signage to tell what the cookies were or what they cost. I opted to try some cake slices prior to getting a whole cake of the same flavour. I got the pistachio swiss roll and pistachio cake slice, and the staff had mentioned the rectangular cake slice would taste more strongly of pistachio. I tried both at home and the swiss roll has a stronger pistachio taste, both were kind of weak tasting, but that is not the issue at hand. Both the cake and swiss roll were tough and stale, to the point where grocery store frozen cake tastes better. Even those $5 or $6 vanilla cakes at Walmart are not this hard. The cream, the sponge cake, all of it was old and rubbery. Save yourself the pain and get cake somewhere else. I felt like I was eating fake wax food instead of real cake. I'm really disappointed as their bakery section is huge and seemed to have a lot to offer, but I've been burned and am reluctant to try their other sweets.

I needed to pick up a few grocery items, so dropping by Food World Supermarket afterwards was perfect. This building used to Rose Garden Banquet and Convention. I'm guessing that due to the pandemic, this business suffered and shut down. There is plenty of parking in front and around this supermarket. I backed into a spot and walked in. The doors automatically open, which is wonderful. This supermarket is located across from Burger King. I often frequent it when I crave a flame-broiled burger. Both are in the same plaza as Wok of Asia. It's clean and cheerful when you first walk in. You see cases of pop and sparking water. The produce section then greets you. I needed avocados and celery. Prices are either comparable to what you see at grocery stores like No Frills, but the quality is better. Both produce items that I grabbed were fresh and in great condition. This grocery store carries halal items. It features a lot of South Asian products, such as Parle-G and paratha. You also see ramen and Ribena, both of which made me love shopping at this store even more. I saw everything from custard to paneer. It does sell corned beef in cans and rose water in glass bottles. Cool! The meat section is impressive. It's huge with every cut of meat that you can possibly think of. You can get food to go. There's a stall within the supermarket where you can get pizza, shawarma, and more. I paid for my produce. The woman at the checkout was extremely pleasant and nice. I paid with my debit card. This store gives you a plastic bag. I thanked her and headed to the exit. Just before you exit, there's a stall that sells desserts, ice cream, drinks, and more. I asked the woman behind the counter whether their drinks have added sugar. They don't. The store goes with the natural sweetness of their fruit or veggies. I wanted to get the sugar cane and coconut hydrating beverage. She had run out of coconut, so I got a large sugar cane drink. As she made my drink, I looked at the desserts display. There were individual portions of chocolate mousse cake and sponge cakes. You can also get milkshakes, ice cream, and more. She asked whether I wanted ice in my sugar cane drink. I said as much as the cup could fit the ice. It was perfect on a hot day. I asked the nice woman how long this supermarket has been open for. It opened on May 18th. I paid with my debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and left with my groceries and drink. The sugarcane was indeed the real deal. It was naturally sweet and yummy. I was happy with my drink. It was nice consuming it as I drove home. Whenever I was in the area to grab some dinner, there was never a supermarket close by to get a few grocery items. It's definitely more convenient now thanks to this Food World. (174)
