I've been struggling to find a nail place that offers good pedicure service for a while! I only have Sunday's off, so that narrows down my choices a bit. I tried salons in Alpine, El Cajon and Lakeside and always felt like the job was rushed and the paint was shoddy. Asking for a flower or small design always felt like pulling teeth, to the point to where I stopped asking. I wish I tried Native Dreams years ago. The salon is pretty and well kept. There was a glass of water waiting by my chair when I came in. Even tho I knew I was the last service of the day, and I booked last minute, I didn't feel like the job was rushed. The polish on my toenails is FLAWLESS. I've never been so happy about the paint on my toes. My nail tech was super friendly and we chatted the whole time, which made me feel more comfortable than the awkward silence I'm used to at other salons. I had been avoiding this salon because I thought it was a big corporate place, but it's family owned and operated. In all honesty, it was the best pedicure service I've had in years. Came here with my mother and grandmother for a girls spa day and we already can't wait to go back for our next appointments in a few weeks! We each had a different massage/facial for 90 minutes. I had the chakra rebalancing massage and this was the first time I have ever done anything like this. It was an amazing, spiritual, and eye opening experience for me. I came here last weekend to get pedicures with my friend and Tangerine was amazing. I have been to so many nail salons for pedicures and ALWAYS leave not liking my toes. I honestly just gave up on getting pedicures until my friend suggested we go to this place. She had tried them out before and said they're really good so I agreed to go and I'm so glad I did. Great hidden gem! Went for a girls weekend up to the outlets and casino and decided to check this place out because the spa at the casino/resort is pretty pricey. The staff was lovely....I had Liz and I highly recommend her! She's awesome! Very professional, had no problem booking ahead of time. Clean and great environment. No pressure to up-sell you on any of the products they sell. Great place! If you're looking for a little break from gambling or shopping, look no further! I have been going to this place for years. Tangerine the owner is good but for some reason they can't seem to keep a massage therapist for very long. The last massage I went to was so awful that I paid for a 90 minute Swedish massage and after 60 minutes of just having oil poured on me and barely being touched I was more than ready to go. When I asked for more pressure to be applied I was told that she wasn't capable of doing anymore. I was painful. I will now be looking else where. My hubby booked an 80 minute massage for my birthday. We headed over from the Viejas hotel and he left me in the hands of Sandy, my massage therapist. She looked over the form I had filled out asking for pertinent information as relating to my massage there. She went over my specific needs and also added there were additional services that could be added to my massage. I never felt pressured to add anything and agreed to add on the essential oils raindrop technique. Sandy added complimentary hot stones for my birthday. The massage was absolutely heaven starting with "moondrop" oil and other essential oils throughout. Her touch is very relaxing, firm but not overly so. She massaged my scalp as well as my feet and rest of my body too. When my massage came to a close she ended it with Balance essential oil. One of my favorites! A very nice discovery in the ghost town of a mall that is the Viejas Center. We were referred to this spa while on a weekend trip to the new Viejas Hotel (see my review). Very nice spot, reasonable prices and very cool and professional nail techs make this a 5 star experience. WHEN YOU GO- it is a haul to get here but if you're staying at the hotel, this is your spa option. They offer hair aroma therapy and several other spa options in addition to mani/pedis. Worst experience ever. I booked the two and a half hour manicure pedicure spa session, since I had an event that night. It started great when I was greeted, offered a beverage and told to select my polish. When i sat down, she looked and my nails and said uhhh, you have gel. I said they're dip and she replied, I didn't know and this will be hard. (Gel and dip are pretty common) she started applying acetone and within minutes said: I won't have time to do your pedicure. I replied that I booked 2.5 hours, and she said "I have another client, and this is going to take forever." I recommended that she just wrap my nails, to let them soak, and start with the pedicure. She said "That isn't how it's done, that won't work. " I told her that usually worked well on my nails. She replied "I know you're going to give me a bad review. I can feel everything going down hill and I'm going to end up doing a 'shitty job' just to appease you." I said I had an evening planned, and I needed a mani/pedi. She then said she could do a basic pedi, but she would have to charge extra, and pointed to the spa menu, which showed an additional $ 20 to remove acrylic nails. (I don't have acrylic.) I said that's pretty steep, and she told me she was the owner, she sets prices and never had anyone "act like this. " I asked What she meant and she said I was arguing with her about everything. I told her I wasn't arguing. I was trying to come up with solutions and we could just do the manicure. She then said "no, I am not going to do anything for you" and started unwrapping my nails. I replied well you can't leave me like this and held up my nails, which now had half the polish off and cotton balls stuck to them from the acetone. She then told me if I did not leave, she would call tribal security. I couldn't believe it and told her that I would now give her a bad review, for the way I was treated. She replied that she had never dealt with anyone so rude and was actually shaking because of it. I go to that salon regularly for massage but will never set foot in there again since she said she is the owner. Fortunately the other nail salon in town could take me and they had my dip removed in five minutes. read more

I called the salon and they were able to squeeze me in last minute. My stylist, Fiona was so friendly and knowledgeable! I read about Native Dreams Spa in East County Magazine and was intrigued by what I heard so I decided to give it a try. I am very picky about beauty treatments and have tried several nail salons and hair studios in and around Alpine only to be very disappointed. Like another reviewer, I decided to gift myself a "Diva Day and opted for the works: Hair style, cut, color (lowlights and roots cover-up), pedicure, manicure, eye brow wax and tint plus facial. WHAT A FIND!! Where to start: The salon itself is gorgeous, exceptionally clean and welcoming. The tranquility was delightful - the salon is right next to a waterfall at Viejas outlet mall (west side) so you could enjoy the soothing sounds of water. TANGERINE, the proprietess has assembled a wonderfully talented team. MARIE gave me all the treatments except for the facial. I walked in with a VERY bad cut and color and walked out looking FAB! I have never had someone who could give me exactly what I wanted on the first try! The manicure and pedicure was very relaxing. I tried the new type of manicure (Shellac) as she promised it would last longer. It has, not a chip or ding in spite of gardening and doing other household chores over the weekend. The pedicure was amazing -she managed to make my rough calloused feet smooth as a baby's. Next was the eyebrow wax and tint . Again, a great outcome. What I liked is that unlike some other places, she did not wax my brows too thin and she used a shade of brown very complementary to my skin tone and hair. Facial time found me in the capable hands of KENYATTA. When I said capable, I really meant magical!! I choose the Signature Facial which features aromatherapy (ooh, so fragrantly good) and massage. Afterwards, my skin looked like years had peeled away (the exfoliation and cleansing did this). The massage was heavenly. My neck and shoulders were very tight from computer work and I had some carpal tunnel syndrome pain that was bothering me. Somewhere at the intersection of BliSS and Don't Stop, all the pain and tightness melted away. At the end of the session, I was a quivering pool of contentment. It was hard to roust myself off the table. Alas, all good things must come to an end and I had to leave. After paying a surprisingly affordable bill (AND I received a 20% discount as a first time customer) I immediately booked a repeat performance for November. When my husband picked me up, he was very complimentary about my transformation and happy that I had found such a great one-stop-shop salon that fit all my needs. Can I say heaven? Absolute heaven! Did I mention heaven? I was at the casino with my boyfriend. I don't care for gambling so I decided to go sit underneath the waterfall. To my surprise I noticed the Spa was open. I had been here other times, but apparently they weren't open yet. I walked in and took one of the brochures to see what they offered. The best thing in the world was NO ONE rushed me to make a choice. They (Tangerine & Phoebe) brought me a glass of water and said take your time. I decided to treat myself royally. I had the 90 minute facial massage with leg and arm scrubs. A haircut/trim with scalp massage. Total heaven! Brianne was my esthetician and massage therapist. Woman has GREAT hands and marvelous touch. All in all I spent about 2 1/2 hours there reveling in the Native American spirit. I will absolutely be coming here again! One more thing.....the prices? I was out having a Diva Day and stumbled upon Native Dreams Day Spa in the Viejas Outlet Mall east of Alpine. They were having several specials so I had a mani/pedi. They WELCOMED the walk in business and didn't make me wait a second. Fiona, my manicurist, was very professional and I enjoyed the "Top Drawer" service. The manicure area was very relaxing, quiet, and most important, spotless/sanitized properly. This is a extremely clean and professional "one on one" salon. Not a Nails R US....The pedi was also heavenly. No rushing only service service service offered here. It was so nice there I decided to stay for a massage (reasonably priced). I've had massage services at other spas and this was by far the best. Erin was and is a miracle worker. I've never had a service that was so worth every penny. I was walking on air the rest of the evening, I have found my favorite day spa only minutes from La Mesa. What a wonderful ending to such a delightful Diva Day. The atmosphere is so peaceful and you don't have to think because they take such good care of you, you know you are getting the best. Decided to treat my girlfriend to a "Spa Day" for her birthday this year and I was comparing different places around San Diego. We decided to make a weekend of it and go to the Viejas Resort, stay at the resort, etc. I also decided that I might as well enjoy the same spa services as well. It would be a first for some of the services. I called and inquired about the "World's Best Day Spa" Package which included a Swedish massage, a facial and then a manicure/pedicure. It's quite the package and the price is discounted than if you were to buy all three services separately. Everything took approximately 5 hours! We really did spend most of the day there. I don't remember everyone's names but everyone was professional and personable. We even met the owner at the end and she was very concerned that our day would go smoothly. What service! If you get the itch to spoil yourself for a day, this is the place to do it, they will take care of you! If you do the huge spa day package like we did, call ahead, book early, try to be flexible and realize that it is a lot of services. You will be glad you went! read more

I went to Native Dreams for a pedicure recently. I have to say, being a small business owner in the beauty industry ( I'm an Esthetician, specializing in eye lash extensions) that this was one of my more pleasant salon experiences I've had. I had a little wait before they were ready for me and the owner Tangerine went out of her way several times to make sure I was comfortable. She offered me reading materials and refreshments and checked on me a few times to make sure I was happy. She was very thoughtful and you really feel that she cares about you being comfortable. The salon is IMPECCABLY clean and inviting. It is a very modern salon w/ a warm feel to it. The staff was extremely welcoming and always had a smile on their faces! The pedicure I rec'd from Julie was fantastic. She was sweet, personable and did exactly what I asked. My toes looked great and I STILL have them looking nice and it's been over a month now! Came in to get my dipping powder manicure removed and a regular mani. Had an appointment at 12, took an hour to get my dipping powder off, to the point where I buffed and scraped my own nails because they didn't know how to get it off. Uneven paint, file, and overall bumpy job. 26$... 20$ for mani and 6$ to remove the dip. Although my woman was nice and the salon was cute I am NOT happy with my result. read more

I went in with my daughter and god daughter a couple of days after Christmas. The salon was quiet but the staff was excellent. Friendly, offering us tea, coffee, water. We got their holiday special of peppermint pedicures. The pedicures were great, though a little on the pricey side as pedicures go. $55 was the special price but they gave us a 10% discount for being first time customers. On the down side they only had 2 spa chairs and 1 technician, so we had to take turns. On the positive side the staff chatted us up and kept us entertained so we didn't really mind. Fortunately we were not in a hurry. I would go back for some of the spa packages they have, but probably would not be a regular because the prices for basic services are quite a bit higher than I usually pay.
