When traveling through Ashland, stopping at the Co-op is a MUST! It's a little spendy, but I love the atmosphere and offerings. Their hot bar and pre-made food are always a treat. Delicious snacks, sandwiches, smoothies and coffee drinks. They have vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. Their little cakes are gorgeous! Outside seating includes covered and open-air. The "deli" area here is absolutely amazing. They have soups, pizza, hot bar items, a salad bar, juices made to order and it's all organic and most items don't have seed oils...AND it's all delicious, fresh and flavorful. As an avid juicer, I personally don't like majority of juices you can buy because they're just not fresh enough. The flavor isn't the same. But here, they use organic produce and make the juice fresh on the spot - it is a centrifugal juicer but as long as you drink it relatively quickly it doesn't matter. We tried a slice of the gluten free pizza, it was the best gluten free pizza I've had. Crisp on the bottom, not floppy but it wasn't super hard or dry either. The crust was actually delicious and overall just really good. I would imagine their non gluten free pizza is really good if the gluten free is that good. The grocery store itself is also great. Fantastic selection, great bulk area. Friendly staff. Good vibes. Highly recommend. read more

This makes for a fast and yummy casual lunch option because they have water and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. What a great neighborhood grocery store! They were well stocked and quite busy on a weekday afternoon. After shopping, we enjoyed our made to order smoothies in their small indoor cafe dining room. I would shop here again if I was in the area. The parking lot is pretty small and tight, but it's to be expected in the downtown Ashland area. read more

I have been a member of Ashland Food Co-Op for 11 years and shopped here 15 years before I moved here when I came up for a visit. They used to be the "best of the best" but, sadly, they aren't any longer. It is often a waste of my time to try to shop here. AFC's vegetables are sub-standard. I went in today after yoga to buy 3 pounds of green beans, 3 pounds of Brussels sprouts, 4 organic turkey thighs to ensure we have enough dark turkey meat to complement the 18 pound fresh heritage free-range organic turkey I bought elsewhere. There was only one organic turkey thigh two days before Thanksgiving. The meat department suggested I buy conventional previously frozen thighs. Absolutely not! The green beans AND Brussels sprouts all had dark spots on them. Good grief! I left having spent only $10 on one organic turkey thigh. The last couple of years I often leave without buying anything for two reasons: The produce is consistently sub-standard yet the prices throughout the store are the highest in the Rogue Valley. After I left, I drove to Medford Food Co-Op and purchased absolutely gorgeous (NO black spots and super-fresh) green beans and Brussels sprouts at much less cost per pound. It was well worth the 20 minute drive. I do hope AFC gets their act together. read more

I only shop at the co-op for my groceries. I have turned into one of those people! The conversion happened because the produce here just tastes so much better than other grocery stores. They try to get produce as locally as possible. If you try to shop in season, they also have some of the best prices because it is local produce and they tend to have a lot. Just stop by in the fall and see the large array of apples for a dollar a pound or late summer for the massive peaches that are also only a dollar a pound. If you don't shop within the season, I would say the produce is slightly more expensive than a typical grocery store. It can be a hassle if you like certain items year round. As someone who converted to trying to shop within season, the co-op is godsend! I also love all their diary products!! They have so many local cheeses, milks, yogurts, the works. The local diary doesn't upset my stomach at all. The co-op is amazing. It is a local hotspot in Ashland! Definitely recommend a try! read more

Gayle and I stopped at the Ashland Food Co-op twice last week during our long delayed return to Ashland. The first time was for hotel provisions (wine and sparking water), while the 2nd time was for a sandwich (me) and salad (Gayle) for Lunch. Included in there somewhere were a few toiletry items, a good look around, and buying a cool little shopping bag to haul our purchases out. The Ashland Food Co-op continues to be a convenient supply stop and a meal alternative to a fast food, counter, or sit down meal experience. Service remains efficient and friendly, with a nice selection of what we could be looking for. read more

I am staying close by, and the owner of my AirBnB said I should check this place out. The juice bar grabbed my attention as soon as I walked in. I was just going to see what they had to eat at the salad bar but I went walking around instead. They have a nice produce section, cheese selections, and wine! LOL! They also have a number of items that I would buy at home. But I was able to pick up some pasta, tortillas, parmesan, and one of my favorites, Reeds ginger ale. Friendly cashier, I even bought a reusable bag. I also got the Third Eye juice: carrot, apple, and ginger, with echinacea...very good! Fun place to people watch, and I'm glad it's only down the street! Definitely worth checking out! read more

They also have an area where they have a daily variety of premade burritos, sandwiches, fruit smoothies, and coffee and non-coffee based drinks as well as a small buffet area whose menu changes daily. A small inside seating area and larger area outside are available to sit and enjoy your food. Breakfast and lunch are fairly busy and parking can be challenging at times but staff is very nice and food is pretty good. Let me sum up straight from the start: Ashland Food Co-op is the quintessential source for people in search of alternatives to the Big Three in the American diet: cow's milk, wheat, and sugar. Such as partnering with local growers for its produce, as well as sourcing dry goods locally. Over 20% of the Co-op's offerings are local. Show me a store that does more for its community as everyday policy. Organic is a given. Choices for paleo, vegetarian and vegan lifestyles abound. And what would I do without the variety of dairy-free ice creams available? Most likely I would cry. The staff is uniformly knowledgeable and helpful. I usually wander aimlessly until one of them steers me in the right direction. I'm also prone to the jitters. So I truly appreciate it when I'm in the bulk section, someone in back cries: "Get out the ShopVac, STAT!!!" What else? The Co-op gives cyclists a 5% discount on their groceries for zero-emission transportation, directly affecting its carbon footprint. Also, certain products carry the "Co-op Basics" signage for lower prices on everyday grocery items. For the longest time I thought the signs meant the products were on sale, until a friendly staffer explained it to me. We had a great laugh. Wasn't impressed by the sadly lacking in knowledge staff, which used to be one of the best things about the Co-op once upon a time. Don't be put off by the "crunchy" vibe. This store is packed with quality food, and the prices are (mostly) well within reason. I was offered help three times during my visit, not in a pushy way but with sincerity and kindness. My experience as an out-of-towner was all positive. If you are not used to the presentation, with lots of bulk items and few corporate labels, just give in to the experience and you will come away with high quality food and the knowledge that you have contributed to a seemingly thriving and caring community. read more

My friend showed me this place recently, there are lots of neat organic and local foods but the parking is terrible and people are pretty inconsiderate here....Not so much the staff in my one experience but the customers this place attracts. I've talked to many other patrons who feel the same. If you like spending a fortune and fear mongering citizens who disagree with breathing fresh air or using a parking signal than this place is for you. I do love their efforts to have a smaller impact on the environment though but the mark up on things is outrageous. The grab and go selection is diverse and always very busy though and it's a good place to grab lunch in a pinch. If you come here I suggest coming when most people would presumably be at work. I won't be going back here though, definitely not for me. read more

Basically everything is organic, and local products in particular are easy to find here. Support local farmers, chefs, cooks, bakeries, wineries, breweries, and small business whose products are all available at the coop. Prices are reasonable (mid range, with more and less expensive options locally). Amazingly good "owners" program - highly recommend if local for more than a year. read more

Hot bar constantly has "Free range" kids who are messing around, reaching in with their nasty fingers, completely unattended while their mama is outside playing her flute or somewhere else. Then there's the mom who see it and just don't care. It's gotten an even worse reputation the last few years and also FAR more expensive than all other stores in town! read more

Still absolutely love the Ashland Co-Op after 36 yrs. as a member. I remember when they were a tiny co-op on 3rd. St. This is a great place to shop for the highest quality organic local produce, local organic meats, wine, bulk items and an unbelievable all organic Deli. No other grocery store has their organic quality. And all this and they pay their staff a living wage, include healthcare insurance, PTO... all issues that are important to me to support with my money. I'm never disappointed with service or products. Kudos to them for doing all the research regarding products and sustainability that support Planet Earth! Ashland Food Co-op is located downtown. Upon entering the store there's quite a big deli department where, on this early Saturday morning, a lot of people are sipping coffee and having breakfast. It looks good and is something I'd check out the next time. It feels as if this store has many regulars. Not as big as Shop n Kart, but not less impressive. Also in this place, a lot of bulk products which is great. Stores like this co-op are not the cheapest but for those who are dedicated to using less plastic and reduce waste, it's worth to pay a bit more. I wholeheartedly support this way of living. Nobody seems to be in a hurry in this store, which makes for pleasant shopping. Their fish department is small but well-stocked as is their meat and poultry. Bread is slightly disappointing, they sure have all the basics but it's not the place where id buy my carbs. I see an aisle of gifts, quite pricey I have to say, but definitely unique. Herbal remedies, they even carry the German brand Weleda which in itself is a reason for me to return. I see magazines I've not seen before! All in all this is an amazing store, worth taking your time to check out. read more

Won't ever go in here again and will be sure to let as many people know about my experience. The person at the door was condescending and rude. This store discriminates against those that have a medical condition and need to cover their nose and mouth with a full face shield. The state of Oregon approves us this. Some people are unable to lose oxygen to the brain for even a short time. Sad that they are discriminating against those with medical issues. I will never shop here again and glad to see the true colors of this shop, it always had an air about it but now I am clear about this place. Over priced and rude. read more

I met a sweet Maui young man employed here. I was looking for mochi, and he quickly placed me. Years ago, an Ashland friend introduced me to this Co-op, which is located a few blocks down off Main St. So I should have suspected that this is a very special place. I was pleasantly surprised to find this co-op thriving and developing into a place of excellent food and groceries. The environment is clean and stocked full of quality groceries. Above all, their salad bar is made from the heart. It is $10.95/lb but its ingredients are high quality, mostly organic. Their hot and cold dishes are fresh and delicious. Went there twice. Great food and service. Their hot bar was where my nose took me. Had their chicken breast and their wings, both were absolutely excellent. Had some sides too that were great. Seasoned kale,asparagus, and some quinoa cake thing. I couldn't stop eating it. So fresh,hot, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I also grabbed a Green Light juice at their walk up bar counter. Both times the young people serving me were kind and polite, and also funny and cute. They said I would fit in with their crew nicely as they said I was approachable and polite, I can't remember the exact emotive. I also on accident pulled out my hotel room key and said," oops, wrong card. I don't think you'll take my room key." And they said,"well maybe.." I laughed and said,"I just moved up here and need friends." They said,"relatable." All in all, if I were living or visiting again I'd be sure to make this a part of my stop. Better than a Whole Foods any day. Plus it's not everyday I get hit on, so it looks like my chances of finding true love might be sooner than I thought. Lol. Excellent grocery store in Ashland. They have a great selection of organic produce, grassfed beef and other meats, plus a great selection of dried bulk items. There is a lot of quality food here. The place is small, but packs in a lot of options. The store is really clean and well organized. They had clear safety guidelines for COVID with lanes for entrance and exits, hand sanitizer, masks required, and shields for the cashiers. All the employees were super nice and friendly. I would 100% come back if I am ever in Ashland again. read more
