If I could 'Award' this store a Negative score I Would. !!! Has this place been sold in the past few years? We now live further away 50 miles round trip and do not get by as often. We had decided to visit a winery in the Applegate area and as we passed the market there were signs advertising a special price on chicken breasts. So on our return trip I stopped because they always had (IMOP) the best chicken around. At the meat counter the signs were also there but I was not able to find a clerk. However, I found a couple packaged breasts and went to the check out. Now I haven't been back there in at least 8 years. I always knew this store as a friendly helpful, and honest place. Up front I discovered there was a two lane Self Checkout stand. There I noticed the price per pound was not as advertised. So I told the "clerk" so he could explain, or adjust and he said "I'll get my manager". He returned with an even younger person (manager?) who asked "what is the problem" then after mentioning the price difference he said something quickly, and pointed to the back and scurried off. Meanwhile while waiting at the checkout stand a woman said " there's no open registers", then the attendant motioned to the one I was at and told her to use this one. I started to question then was told " he went to back". No explanation, no customer service, no response. I asked again where he was and only received a shrug of shoulders. Hidden Valley Market is a wonderful local market, however... I was in on Monday at approx 6:30 pm and had a really unpleasant experience with Randal, the supervisor? He never even said hello! He ringing up all my items and never said a word and no smile, nothing. It was so uncomfortable and awkward. So I said something to break the ice. I said, I'm kind of surprised you didn't say any sort of greeting to THE CUSTOMER. He still don't say a word. Not even an attempt to make it right. The other checker smiled in agreement. He also never said goodbye or thank you! He just handed me the receipt! What is wrong with this guy? He's anti social and he's a supervisor? He's weird and not a Customer Service oriented person at all! read more

This place is a hidden gem and a lifesaver for those in the Murphy area. Great hours, nice staff, lots of good (and organic) veggies, a nice butcher shop, wines and a good selection of alcohol. The parking lot is adequate but could use a little help, but hey - they're there for us! Better than a long drive into town. read more

I go here cause its close by but it does have very limited selection of items and it is a small store and pricey. It also sells liquor.

this market used to be a friendly market with friendly checkers and staff, a great butcher shop. Slowly it devolved to its overpriced, impersonal, and now robotic atmosphere. Unfortunately the steaks I lasted purchased were like eating the side wall of a truck tire (, and I was a restaurant cook). I now go the extra 6 miles to a larger store, knowledgeable friendly staff and have the freedom of choice to pay with cash or by card. read more

This location used to be a Ray's Market, then it closed and later on it was bought and reopened as Hidden Valley Market. They updated the inside, which is really clean and nice now, prices are a bit better and they consistently seem to have deals going on. The staff is friendly and seems to be majority high school students when I am in there (which makes sense since Hidden Valley High School is right around the corner!). They seem to be continuing to use some of the same brands that the previous market used, which I find pretty awesome and considerate of them. They seem to understand that a portion of their shoppers might just be brand-devoted. They even carry a detergent booster that I have been looking for for ages (biz!). A new addition is the Deli, which my hubby and I have gone to a bit. It is on the way to/from work and our house so it's easy to pop in and grab a bite when we are not in the mood to cook. The sandwiches are really good, the ingredients are fresh and the makers really know how to toss a good one together. I adore olives and pickles and there always seems to be the perfect abundance of them. I will admit that, for the price, we could get more altogether (larger sandwich, drinks and chips) at another deli-mart in town but that would mean 15+ minutes of driving way out of our way. Plus the pleasant new atmosphere of the store is nice and you can do some actual shopping while you wait for your sandwiches, which never takes very long (I would guess 10 minutes for two sandwiches). They have a nice set up where you fill out a slip of paper and hand it to the deli-counter person and then walk off. You can also request a specific pick up time, never used it but I am sure asking them to have it ready at a certain time later in the day wouldn't be too troublesome. It's also all to go, just fyi. My 1 lacking star from a full five is due to a few minor things, but I will point out the larger ones. I am just not a fan of their burgers in the deli, neither taste nor price. I would say they are slightly gourmet in comparison to what I like, and I just don't enjoy them. The bun that was used was good, though. I am sure other people like them, so you may consider trying them still. I can be real picky about my food. With the store: The can and bottle return, I know it's hard to keep those dang things clean with all the use they get, but we finally got around to returning our build up of cans the other day and the front of the machine was getting funky (same for the carts, but that is generally expected in can return areas). I will point out, however, they keep their machine cleaner than a majority of places in town. Side Note: It definitely is nice to see that they don't have to handle leaky boxes inside anymore. This machine came just before Ray's closed so it hasn't gotten much use and it handles returns nicely. When it fills up the employees are prompt to come out and switch out the bins. Nutshell: It is a small and nice market with a decent selection of goods. It is conveniently located and worth it, especially if you don't want to drive all the way in to town. Also seem to carry some products that the former store carried. The deli is blossoming and the sandwiches are taaaaaaasty! read more

I go out of my way to shop at this store. These folks pay attention to details. The shelves are full and items faced out. The produce is exceptional and their prices are competitive. The meat is fresh and tasty. There aren't many independent grocery stores left in this country and the few left, are usually mediocre at best. I love shopping at Hidden Valley Market. On Fri. Dec. 4, 2020 I went to Hidden Valley Market in Murphy to shop. There were "mask required" signs in the parking lot and store doors. As I entered, I saw a male shopper wearing his mask below his nose and upper lip and a female shopper with a baby shopping without a mask at all. An employee walked by and greeted the female and walked on past her. He passed me next. I asked him if the store was following the mask mandate and he happily said, "yes." I pointed out he had just passed a shopper without a mask and the shopper on the other side of me wasn't wearing their mask properly. He said that they should be. I said that I could not shop in a store were the mandate was not being enforced. I turned around and headed for the exit. He then laughed and said to the fellow whose mask was barely on his face, "I get one of those at least every day." This was not only inappropriate and unprofessional but troubling. Is he saying his customers are concerned and speak up daily about shoppers not wearing masks? He thinks that is funny? Having one shopper speak up daily says to me this store has a problem. I can shop elsewhere and so can the others that he hears from at least "once a day." I thought he was the manager to boot. I will never shop here again. I recommend you consider shopping somewhere safer as well. read more
