I've never been to this natural grocers before, but I've been shopping at natural grocers for years now, and this was one of the most uncomfortable experiences. The first cashier just walked off because she assumed the person before me car didn't work so she followed her out the store. Then the next cashier was fine,. Then after I walked paid and walked out , the person training her followed me out and said are those El Dorado exchanges, and I said no they are refills, That's what I said. She said oh just wanted to make sure, so uncomfortable. These things could've been handled differently to make it not uncomfortable, but there was no regard. No, I'm sorry. No nothing just no regard. I like this little Natural Grocer. Excellent selection of good looking and fresh organic veggies. A few good options for prepackaged grass fed meats and affordable vitamins. This is always my go to store for perfectly ripe avocados. I'm not sure how they do it, I can't even time the ripeness when they've been sitting on my kitchen counter. I went into the store last night and there was an issue with checking out and it seemed I was being overcharged. I asked the cashier to void out the transaction and start over. They never have enough cashiers and you always stand in line and they are understaffed. The manager on duty took over for the cashier and was not kind. They were rude and not pleasant and definitely did not give good customer service. They showed me the voided out transaction but would not give me a copy of the voided out transaction for my records because they ran my credit card twice. They said they needed the copy and would not give me a copy. They started to yell at me when I was at their register in front of customers. They glared at me with hateful eyes and told me to check my bank statements. They were not kind or respectful and I had no record if I was overcharged. They re-rang my food items again and I paid again. This manager is unprofessional and disrespectful. No customers deserve to be treated badly just trying to shop and go to Sprouts or WholeFoods than this store. I contacted the customer service line and reported this unprofessional manager. read more

I love this store and have shopped here consistently for the past 10 years. It is my favorite grocery store for so many reasons! I was surprised to see any negative reviews. The staff have always been super friendly and recognize me when I come in. And the prices are lower than Sprouts or Whole Foods for the same products, and even lower during sales. They have excellent quality organic produce, and they have a great selection of dry and refrigerated bulk items, including nuts, nut butter, grains, flour, and spices. The spices are organic and individually packaged, fresher than bulk spices kept in jars in other stores. I like the selection of meats, including Mary's air-chilled chicken. They only sell eggs that are produced humanely, and they have a rating system for the eggs. If you get a member card, some of the eggs are only 1.99. What a deal! Natural Grocers has a philosophy/goal of increasing wellness in the community and providing education about food, so they provide free nutrition/wellness workshops and counseling sessions. The nutrition coach Tricia at the Northglenn store has been super helpful for me! I love shopping at this store because of the quality, the reasonable prices, and knowing I'm spending my money at a business that is wellness-based and locally owned. I have made a point to buy from Natural Grocers over the last 25 years instead of Amazon, realizing I am paying more in your store, and am officially done with you. Bought some items that no longer had testers, asked if they are returnable, was told that I could with a receipt. The very unfriendly Manager and store associate treated me like crab and I made me feel like a thief when I returned the items. I literally had to plead my case and practically beg for a refund. Rudest customer service ever!!! The minute I got into line the cashier gave me the most horrible feeling like I did not belong there. As if that was not enough she preceded make to stand in another line fir no reason,when I asked the other cashier if there was a rule to which line a six pack of ale beer could be purchased she said no. I like the convenience of having a natural grocers in my area.. the only drawback is that their sales are limited.. . The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, and they have a nice section of homeopathic medicated solutions. From cleansing products to natural soda. You have to bag your own groceries, and you will have to find a box or something to put it in...The staff should have available boxes by the checkout so customers don't have to hunt for them.. the only drawback to this place.. overall...It's a good convenient natural market.. read more

Expensive. Produce looked pretty good. Meat section belongs in a tiny circus. The back wall refrigerators have some interesting offerings, so peruse that section. Their vitamin/weird-things-in-bottles aisles are brimming with items I don't know what to with and their chip aisle, for me, is very hit-or-miss. The thing I didn't like was the small print under items designed to lure you in with incredibly low prices only to find out you need to sign up to get these great prices before hitting the register. Got caught with this on some eggs (wow, crazy fine print---bring bifocals) and when the real price rang up I was educated on the way things work in there. I chose to not purchase the eggs, but since they had already been rung up, I had to go through a return process that is more complicated than at a used car lot. I start this by saying I love Natural Grocers by the Vitamin Cottage, but I was disappointed by my first visit to this store. I was visiting town and my gout was acting up and I didn't bring my normal supplements. I stopped in to pick up " Go-out" complex that I've purchased at several Natural Grocers stores before. I couldnt find it on the shelf and asked two people ( one of which was the vitamin manager) about it and they helped me but couldn't find it on the shelf. Obviously I was disappointed as this has been the best product for my condition and I've never had a problem finding it at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage. The manager showed me a possible comparable product that I purchased. That waz fine until I was several miles away and noticed the product was expired by several months. I used to love Natural Grocers and have been shopping there almost weekly for the past 8 years. (Check my N power acct.) Today I went into the Northglenn store to exchange my fav cream cheese. I bot it a week ago and opened it three days ago. The sides were brown. I looked at the packaging and realized it was slit open underneath the plastic sealed covering. I almost started to throw out the brown sides and keep it, but thought better of it. For $6, or any amount of $, one should have a secured safe package. I went to the store to exchange it and was told as of 3/24/20, there are NO More Returns. Thankfully, I was able to exchange the product after getting the Manager's approval. Guess what, same issue with the new product- a slit in the packaging underneath the sealed cover. I can't be bothered trying to exchange it again. SHAME ON NATURAL GROCERS! This is not the time to be starting a 'NO RETURN POLICY'. Maybe NG Corporate thinks returning bad food is not considered essential. People pay good money and should receive a good product. read more

Sure, food prices at stores like this tend to be more expensive than at your local grocery store, but you won't find like quality for better price anywhere else. They specialize in bringing in quality meats, produce, and conenient items that are more diverse in their selections than at the larger grocery stores. And in addition to that they have a large selection of vitamins. It could be daunting the various types/brands that are available, which is good to have team members around to make the right selection. This was my primary location back in the day, but it is still nice to visit and know that it is still around to be able to visit. read more

I love this store. They have such good prices and I love their selection of herbs, spices, teas, among other things. They frequently carry less common things like xylitol that I don't always see at Whole Foods for example. However, I have to knock them down to three stars because of their dairy products. I have had to throw out every piece of cheese I have ever bought from them. I have also thrown out some of the yogurt and today I opened a bad gallon of milk. Sure, I'm sure they'd take it back if I went to return it, but realistically how many people go back to return stuff like that? I rarely do. I just forget and forget. And I doubt I'll remember to take this milk back. If they could do something about their dairy section, this would be a fabulous little store. I have never had a retailer refuse to match pricing on their own product when they are out of stock on a common item or refuse to give a raincheck. Natural Grocers is by far the healthiest and least expensive store of its kind around. I spent many years as a Trader Joes fan while living in CA and AZ and was sad to not find a TJs in CO. When Sprouts opened up I was somewhat pacified. BUT THEN, I educated myself more on food. I now understand how very important it is to eat whole, organic foods and supplement your diet where your food choices might be missing key nutrients. I also recognize the benefits of treating ailments naturally. Sprouts and Sunflower Markets are merely more specialized King Soopers or Safeway. Actually, I take that back. Most King Soopers store have healthier selections than Sprouts and Sunflower. Next time you're in any of these store make note of the size and selection of their organic produce section compared to the non organic section. Then, if you shop in the aisles, compare organic and or fair trade options to non. While you're at it, jot down some prices of organic foods, then trek over the Natural Grocers. Make NG your last stop and bring your reusable bags in with you. You will find that this store is so far ahead of its competitors in selection of truly healthy or diet specific foods (i.e. gluten free) and at remarkably better prices. I've been sucked in by the bigger stores that appear to have wider selections - but the areas of wider selection are those foods we shouldn't be eating. I will give Sunflower shout-out with their deli. Boar's Head deli meats are about the best deli meats one can buy in terms of good quality, nitrite and nitrate free (for the most part) meats. There are healthier options than any deli meat, but if you're going to have it you should go for Boars Head. I will touch on bin food, as well.... While the idea of having no trash (especially plastic trash) is a good one, there is also the inability to provide quality, fresh, bug-free, and germ-free foods if its supplied in a bin. Okay, enough berating of the competitors and a refocus on the store at hand. Natural Grocers (all locations) is the real deal. If you're looking for truly healthy options at the lowest possible price, shop here. The selection of truly healthy foods is MUCH greater than you'll find anywhere else (including Trader Joes, which is just another Sprouts or Sunflower, though less expensive and with liquor). Regarding the Northglenn store specifically, I have found the employees to be both courteous and knowledgeable. They're the same employees, as far as I can tell, since the store opened, too, so either they believe their employer to be the best store, too, or they are treated well by their employer, or both. The store is clean and well stocked. I have even been able to get special-order items - all items (stock and special order) are priced lower than anywhere I've ever found, including the Internet (supplements, protein powders, etc.). If you go into Natural Grocers and find yourself disappointed by their selection, perhaps the problem isn't with their selection, but with your knowledge of what you should be eating. read more

I love this place! For my needs, this store knocks Whole Foods out of the park. I love the pricing on "bulk" items (e.g., protein powders, nuts, etc. which are packaged by the company). In addition, my primary trips to Natural Grocers are for the "in between" times, where I am needing a supplement or three, but am not ready to place my typical online order through my preferred vendor for that. Their selection, despite being a smaller location, is fantastic; they actually carry those 3 supplements of which I tend to run out at odd times. The employees are extremely helpful, kind, and sincere. I do not even consider the competition anymore, knowing that what I need is right here! Lately some of my groceries have not been ringing up correctly. A few weeks ago two 2-lb bags of carrots rang up as 5-lb bags of carrots. I bought 2 avocados and was charged for three. A sale price on eggs didn't ring up. The price on a shelf item rang up higher than the price tag on the shelf. If you're going to shop there, check your receipt before you leave the parking lot, or watch the items as they ring up. I've always liked this store and tried to support it, but I don't know if I will continue. I don't know if it's new management or if something is fishy here. Watch yourreceipts carefully. read more

I went to this location for the first time last week and was delighted to find that they only stock 100% organic fruits and veggies. This is exactly what I was looking for, although their prices are not cheap-their selection of produce was great. My family loves eating raw tomatoes and apples and I was pleasantly surprised to find three varieties of oganic apples (including Fuji-our favorite) and tomatoes. Their selection of natural beauty products and health bars was also pretty good-again a little pricey but I was able to reduce my bill significantly by only buying items on sale. I actually loved their store policy of no bags-you can either get your own or they pack your items in cardboard boxes. The bottom line is if you are an eco consious consumer and like to eat fresh natural foods-you need to give this place a try. read more

I live a couple blocks away and checked out appx 10 min prior to close and realized my husband had left his wallet at home. I sat on the curb locked out while they kept coming out every few minutes asking how much longer was he going to be. One even insinuated if he wasnt back soon they were going to return my groceries to shelves. He got back a few minutes after closing time and all the employees were acting all huffy.
