Great store. Great staff. Currently, there is a highly negative and malignant employee, Cy....., who is disintegrating an otherwise harmonious and holistic operation. She is making several members of the staff miserable and ineffective. The manager is aware of this and will know who she is. If you want, really fresh fruit and vegetables, go here. They have a nice selection of produce and an adequate organic selection. You will find wonderful vegan options as well like vegan meats and cheeses. They have a large supplement area. They are a little pricey, I would compare their prices to Whole Foods. I love this little store and I will continue to go here. The staff are pretty pleasant as well. Bring your own bags, but if you forget, they do have boxes they will give to you to load up your goods. read more

I appreciate that all your produce is ORGANIC but it's often droopy and appears to be second-tier. Can you up your game? And it's pretty shocking when your shelves are bare. My girlfriend and I shop together regularly. We came in three weeks ago and there was really very little Dubai. We didn't bother to go back for several weeks because it was a waste of our time. Natural Grocers is my favorite grocery store in Santa Fe. The staff members are friendly, aware, professional, and helpful. Santa Fe has many wonderful grocery options. I am spoiled by the organic produce, and fruit, and deeply appreciate their offerings of countless foods that are far more clean, with clear and clean ingredients. Their prices are quite fair to me, and far more consistent than many other local options. They carry some lovely hand crafted organic products in their cosmetics and body care department, including essential oils, make up, room sprays, and more. Natural Grocers rocks the vitamins and supplements, with fair prices on these. They are continually stocking and adding wonderful generic products that are comparable and affordable. I adore their vast array of healthy keto friendly oils, dressings, sauces, and more. They offer wonderful teas, which I rely on, and adore. I find the quality of what they stock to be higher than the other stores, overall. During the scamdemic, Natural Grocers was the best, and most clean, friendly, and least fear ridden grocery store in Santa Fe. They won my respect and patronage on a whole new level, as other stores forced masks, and made customers line up outside, in any weather, and or policed free faced, organic people, right out of their stores. No thanks. I notice that at times the lettuce offerings, or the citrus, can be a little limited. Yet in all frankness, I can find most of what I need, better here, on the lowest stocked day, than anywhere else in town. Natural Grocers rocks, and truly adds to the value of living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The staff are real, kind, helpful, and valuing of we the people. I can stock up on great food, eat clean and well, and enjoy a fabulous experience when I prioritize shopping at Vitamin Cottage... Natural Grocers. The location is central, the parking is easy. And they sell awesome treats for gifts, chocolates, and potlucks. I also find highly original cards, and even got an awesome Nutribullet blender there. I am grateful for the presence and reliability of Natural Grocers, the great staff, and awesome folks who shop there. I appreciate the hometown, small town familiarity, and caring of the employees. I feel good investing my grocery dollars in this stellar company. It's also a fun treat that they offer free bags, and free chocolates, and cool discounts to keep us smiling, and coming back. What a little haven in Santa Fe! For anyone who copes with dietary restrictions, or just wants reliably sourced products, you'll want to stop by Natural Grocers. I have been going to "natural" grocery stores most of my life and, being from MD, I always look for something similar when I go on vacation so that I can find the staples I need and enjoy. Walking into NG was like being back home, I knew I could find everything I wanted or needed, without hoping the chain stores *might* or having to run around to 4 different stores just to get everything I needed. The produce was fresh, that had a fairly large selection of dairy/meat/cheeses (much of which I do not partake in, but know others would appreciate). I was hit with some altitude sickness and b-lined for the gluten-free crackers I know and love and was the only thing I wanted to eat! Boom, right there they were! I've lived in Santa Fe long enough to remember when this location housed the late lamented Wild Oats, which was a vibrant, busy, well-stocked place. Then sadly, Whole Foods took over and the prices were jacked up, and then that closed and the building stood empty until Natural Grocers moved in. What an unfortunate move! They seem to have disappeared their former employees, and the new store is downright depressing to shop in. Their produce section is tiny, I can't find so many things, and the employees don't know much. I've been there twice since they moved, and I think that will be it for me, although I like their refrigerated nuts and seeds. I now shop at Sprouts and Trader Joe's as well as Target (nice vegan frozen entree section) and good old Smith's, which carries a lot of organics. read more

I'll admit, I've only been here once and I probably won't be stopping by anytime soon. It's too far down Cerrillos for me and in such a forgettable location wedged next to Bed Bath and Beyond. On a whim I stopped in on my way back from the mall one morning and it charmed me. It's like a Whole Foods/Sprouts/Trader Joe's but without all the faux-rustic-nostalgia pretense which is an unfortunately unavoidable trend when you go to an organic grocery store. You can find your vegan gluten-free hormone-free pesticide-free or what have you all right here, just without the fancy setup and sky-high pricing. All I bought was an onion and some avocados along with a microwavable tofu lunch, but I wandered around and observed shelf after shelf of vitamins and supplements and herbal remedies. Seriously, if you need ANYTHING in pill-form, it's here. Another plus was the microwavable lunch I found. It was marked down to just $2 because it was a day past its sell-by date. It was a Indian tofu and vegetable meal in red curry with jasmine rice--it was delicious and at that price I couldn't pass it up. read more

HONK IF YOU LOVE CHAOS. Natural Grocers used to be a wonderful, comprehensive, budget-friendly natural foods and vitamin store in Santa Fe. Their staff was extremely knowledgeable and accessible. The layout of the store was intuitive and it was so easy to get in and out quickly. I did my grocery shopping here frequently and faithfully, loading up on their high quality refrigerated bulk items. Ever since they moved to a new location on St. Francis, the store feels like a vortex of instability and my heart goes out to those hardworking employees who remained from the original staff. Why are the shelves so often empty of common items? Why would the store be moved right before Christmas, just in time for new shoppers to be turned off by the lingering disorganization and sold out items, and old shoppers to be aggravated by the new, awkward layout? What's with the dopey cash register setup, where the poor checkers have to shout when they're ready for the next customer? I urged friends to try the store after it first opened but they ditched it in a hurry when they saw what was going on there. I told them it was just a temporary situation and that the store would come together; sadly, this did not come to pass. At this point, what used to be a fine, authentic natural foods store now feels more like the best thing that ever happened to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I was hoping for just the opposite-that Natural Grocers would cause Trader Joe's and Whole Foods to raise their integrity in terms of organic offerings. At least we have La Montanita Coop, which has always been a bastion of quality and stability. The whole thing smells of corporate disconnection and mismanagement. I wrote a complaint to the their headquarters and never heard a word...DUDE, where's my natural foods store? read more

Found some of the suppliments that I've been having a hard time finding at other Natural grocers locations. I didn't have any problems with finding what I needed as other reviews have said. The staff seemed friendly enough. I'd rather shop NG than wander around Whole foods and deal with that mess. I admit I'm a Natural Grocers fan compared to other similar stores and shop them all over the western U.S. when I can find them. This particular store seemed rather nice. I began shopping here from the first day they opened in Santa Fe, and loved this store. Was very disappointed in the move but decided to support it anyway. The store has so many empty shelves, constantly out of stock of basics, more and more unhealthy food, and switching brands of the frozen to General Mills/Cascadian Farms....that's Cheerios! And they seem to brag about the strict dairy standards, yet they carry more of the junk food from Chocolate Maven. And if they are running a sale, they are always out of stock, like the Lilly's sugar free candy bars, e.g. The employees from the previous location seem to have left, and they were knowledgeable. What I hear from the cashiers now is, " I have no idea, I just work the register". Or "Its nothing to do with me". And some are downright surly. When I post on Facebook, they won't display it, because I have a complaint, so it looks like everybody is happy. Having been a manager most of my adult life, I hate saying it, but it comes down to management, both at the local, regional, and corporate level. Uncrowded, wide aisles are the first thing that I loved. Employees kept to themselves, didn't seem to want to interact with customers much. HUGE health care section, lots and lots of supplements and vitamins. They don't have the biggest selection, but I would rather support these guys than WF. read more

The new location offers more products. The veggies are always fresh and always organic. Prices vary from lower than anyone else to higher than anyone else just like other stores. One has to shop. The constant out-of-stock situation is 90% remedied. The story, "the truck comes in tomorrow, check back" is unacceptable for a grocer who has been in business for decades. Have shopped at this store for years, but now the empty shelves and constantly out of stock products make it a waste of time. Why go to a store that has only half the things on my list and then have to go to ANOTHER store after just to get the rest? Sorry to say these guys have never figured out how to run a store professionally - lots of out of stock products is the norm here. And after all these years and many different managers and employees, they are still not ready for prime time. Now with Whole Foods/Amazon, the new Market Street, Trader Joe's across the street and other choices in the area, the difference in customer service and shopping experience is pretty obvious. I was really looking forward to the new location; what a huge disappointment! So many common items are constantly out of stock. After trying to get half and half 3 times in one week, I decided I will not shop here any longer. I was told by cashier to call ahead and they will special order it! Really? I can get organic half & half in ANY store in town; why would I "special order" it??? They really don't seem to notice that we have lots of choices as far as natural/ organic food in Santa Fe. Lots of new employees, NO ONE is listening to customers or concerned about what they need or want. My prediction is this store will not survive, and frankly they really don't deserve to do so! read more

1/7/19 I was hired after a phone interview from Colorado ( had to get vetted) and then unto another interview by an assistant manager at Natural Grocers in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Within about 2 weeks CORPORATE fired or laid off (as they like to say) the assistant manager that hired me. He got laid off in December as the other 5 people I was hired with. I was laid off December 24th- yes the day before Christmas! The woman who started this company is rolling over in her grave. Saddest Christmas getting laid off the day before but wait this gets even better. I was supposed to get a paycheck on the 29th to me. It is now Jan. 7th and no paycheck! I have spoken with managers for help but they really can't help because Natural Grocers is totally CORPORATE now. Colorado's CORPORATE office doesn't care about employees at all. I spoke with Cathy from Corporate Colorado who was supposed to call me yesterday but did not call me until I called for the 3rd time in Santa Fe. She called this Afternoon and really had not much to say- doesn't know where check is- Natural Grocers should be ashamed by their behaviors. Firing people in December and then holding unto paycheck until at least ( if I'm lucky) Jan 8th- long time after Dec 29th. People have bills. I am so disappointed in Natural Grocers. Shame on CORPORATE Natural Grocers! I'll let you all know if I ever get paid. I'm really freaking over bills. Also they will make you work till 11:00 pm when you should be off by 10:30 pm. The reason being because they Do Not Have enough workers to get products to shelf during the day but they fired 5 people who were trained. Yes, i have a similar experience as many other reviewers. i 'discovered' Natural Grocers a few years ago and enjoyed shopping at their old location. Friendly, helpful employees. Frequent specials in the meats, cheeses, & cold cuts. Good prices on dairy & eggs. The only thing left for me at the new location is the good prices on eggs because i signed up as a 'member'. i live nearby so it's easy to stop in for eggs, but that's about all i buy. Trader Joe's across the intersection has better prices on produce and many other items and all the employees there are friendly and helpful. Glad i have other options in this town. read more

What a disappointment! When NG announced they were moving to the former Whole Foods location I hoped we'd have an alternative grocer. Wrong. The new store is significantly larger than the original but its produce section didn't grow and the selection is unimpressive. Instead they expanded their processed/prepackaged industrial food and cure-alls. I don't need pills and supplements. I need fresh food. They should change their name back to Vitamin Cottage. read more

Vitamin Cottage has a nice balance of efficiency and variety. I went primarily to stop off for fresh veggies and meat and a few packaged items like natural stevia sweetened soda and coconut ice cream. While the store is not as massive as Whole Foods, and of course has a greater proportion of supplements and shelf stable foods, I thought their selection was excellent. For instance, each of the items I bought was organic or free range from a relatively local producer. Their dairy-free ice cream selection could be bigger simply because I'm picky and the brand I like wasn't there. By the way it's "Cows Gone Coconut" and is superior to any other brand. But overall, most of the things I can get at whole foods, I can get here for actually slightly less in price. Though, the do have some nice things that even whole foods doesn't have. For instance, they had greek style coconut yogurt. Since I'm gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free, most of the packaged items I can't eat in any store, and I appreciated the selection of items that met dietary needs. I'd say I spent about 75% of what I would have at Whole Foods. read more

They even stock gorgeous greeting cards and my favorite Sedona Magazine. Can't beat their $2.29 a bottle Synergy Kombucha. The cosmetics & toiletries are the best priced, for fussy ingredient readers and purists like me. They even sell the best dish soap without all the harsh chemicals. A lot to love here. No booze, beer, deli, fresh deserts, or butcher though... So be prepared and shop the town for the full gamut... trade Joe's and Sprouts compliment well! read more

In my opinion, Natural Grocers is the best supplier of vitamins and natural supplements in Santa Fe. They always have someone to help you, they are incredibly knowledgeable about all of the products. Their prices are usually lower than any other supplier in town too. I went in for natural Vitamin C Spray. An employee walked me right to it! I purchased some natural grains there yesterday and was very pleased with the women who assisted me. Her name was Gabrielle Thornton. I couldn't find Amaranth, she walked me to the correct area and even gave a quick explanation how to rinse it before cooking. She was very pleasant and asked if there was anything else that I couldn't find. She asked if I ever had quinoa, that it is also so good for our bodies. I bought that too and prepared it last night. Kudos to Gabrielle. Other grocery stores fall short on individual attention, sometimes you can't even find an employee! read more

I would LOVE this place more if the overall prices could be more reasonable. Still beats out Whole Foods but would shop here more if not so expensive. They carry the Good Belly probiotics at a very reasonable price (best prices in town) & Chocolate Maven started leaving their yummy pastries and bread in the back in a tiered basket holder so I definitely swing by for those more often.. excellent prices on those ... they carry wholesome products that have well known reputations... many from Boulder, CO. If you need any nutritional supplements this is the place to go... the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly ! I shop here about once or twice a month. read more

Was in line behind a person with a ton of groceries & the cashier took his sweet time gadding with the customer. I wasn't feeling well & I just needed some coconut water for quick hydration. My husband & i only had 1 item to purchase & were in a hurry to get out of there because i wasn't feeling well. The cashier was clueless as to our situation & very quickly a long line of about 6 people formed. The cashier finally took a break from talking so much that he realized he needed help. So he called for help & the other cashier never said "may I help the next person in line?" Instead she opened up her line & a man cut in front of my husband. We were next in line with only one item to buy. The other man was so inconsiderate & did not apologize or care about us. The cashier did absolutely nothing to prevent this. I asked her, "Don't you say 'May I help the next person in line?'" Her excuse was that we are all adults & they can take care of it between themselves. Either way, both men would have been mad at me. I just stock shelves & ring up customers." Wow! What horrible customer service. I saw no manager around & could not believe how people just don't care about anybody, not even the employees. I've shopped here on and off over the past near. Not a lot because the location is not so convenient for me. I like the fact that they have a large selection of supplements, but am always disappointed by the small selection of over-priced produce there. Nonetheless, I go in there when I need supplements that I can't find at pharmaca. Was in there the other day and asked a staff person for help in finding a full spectrum amino acid supplement. She said, "food - you need to eat a hamburger." I was totally floored. First of all, I'm a vegan and I eat a lot of plant-based foods with amino acids, but because I have a condition where I don't absorb my vitamins and such well, my practitioner recommended this supplement. The staff person again repeated this mantra and I became quite annoyed. Sure, in an ideal world we would all be eating perfect foods and getting all the nutrients we need from them. But we aren't - that is why supplements exist. Why the heck does this woman work there if not to help us find the supplements we need? I won't be returning there again. read more
