Interesting place, all the basic grocery needs, but a lot of items not normally found in the usual grocery stores. Well worth checking out.

I thought I've already made a review here. My Mom was looking for Bob's Red Mills: Farrow - She said it was recommended instead of eating regular white rice. So we headed out to Natural Grocers and they do have them. I've decided to look for Duck Fat and yes they have them. I use it to cook. It has K2 Vitamin properties and you know what they say, its better to eat your food than taking supplements. But if you got only supplements why not. I also bought MCT oil and my mom also bought Jarrows: Glutathione supplements. We really loved it here. I just ran out of Duck Fat, I am due again to return and get a new jar. I should stock them up. read more

So you want to eat well but not particularly interested in funding Jeff Bezos TRT? This is the place, family owned. Beautifully maintained and stocked. Sure it doesn't have everything or a meat counter or latte bar. But it has everything you need to eat well. It is a reliable outpost in most medium sized towns, smells nice inside and you can take your groceries home in boxes. read more

Everyone here is super helpful and knowledgeable. Plus the place is just always clean and organized. That may sound weird, but not every grocer thinks that's a high priority like the folks here clearly do. While I can certainly run in for something, it's kinda fun to just roam the aisles to find something I haven't seen before. read more

Stopped by this place yesterday I called ahead to see if they were open for Presidents' Day the lady answered quickly and was very polite she ended up telling me they close at 9pm so I had enough time to check it out I fell absolutely in love with this place they have sooooo many goodies from body care to vitamins to veggies you can get in bulk and also nuts you can get in bulk they have a pretty good variety of items!!! It's definitely a place to check out it wasn't crowded and wasn't hard to find also I automatically got 10% off for Presidents' Day now that sounds like a grocery store that cares of there customer mind you things that are healthy aren't as cheap so it was pricey but definitely worth it !!! will definitely be going back ASAP read more

This place is like a hidden gem in Temple. You guys are so lucky and you don't even know it. Lots of positive things about this Natural Grocers: - It's very clean and quiet here, not loud or too busy like other places - The staff here is very nice, accommodating, and customer service oriented. Often I'm here walking around thinking I want a couple of things - which turns into a few - and I didn't grab a cart - -but that's okay, someone is always there to help you and bring a cart to ya - - that's customer service! - There's a ton of nice and healthy and unique products here that you can't get from the other grocery stores. - They always have a sale going on - - if you take your time you'll be able to score some great deals here and walk out feeling like you really got your money's worth. - No plastic bags here - - good for environment, they have boxes for you instead. - Once a week you'll find Heather in the front corner of the store - - she does excellent chair massages, $20 for 15 minutes of bliss. - Lots of local vendors selling items here - ranging from soaps to foods to condiments. you just don't have to know what to avoid or read the labels. they have already done it for you. very nice folks. a very nice store. be sure to bring a bag to carry your groceries out in. unlike most of the healthy food stores, this one doesn't have poison in half the products. you look through it carefully the first time or two and you can see they actually care about their customers. read more

Excellent store and just what we needed reasonably close to Fort Hood! I was driving to Austin for almost everything before discovering this new location in Temple. All my special dietary needs are met here with pretty good prices and a nice shopping atmosphere. I have Celiac's which does not allow me to eat gluten and provides a heightened difficulty to casein and lactose which are much more prevalent in factory farmed dairy vs grass-fed. There are many gluten free options here along with a vitamin/supplement section that'll keep the most vigilant vegan to ethical omnivore healthy without breaking the bank. Organic foods, alternative meat/dairy substitutes, and grass-fed minimally processed real meat and dairy are available. There is a nice reverse osmosis water dispenser to fill your own containers and the store is very "Bring Your Own Bag" friendly. The staff is nice and knowledgable while encouraging patrons to inquire for information and guidance about being healthier from a holistic and natural approach. The sale prices here are off the hook and a frequent occurrence as well. I refuse to purchase unhealthy, unnatural, and unethical products sold in most mainstream stores and in the commissary so this is an oasis for the part of Texas we happen to be stationed at. I live this store so much! There are people there to help you if you have questions, but they are not constantly walking around bugging you. Super chill atmosphere where you can leisurely go in and do some digging into the many many products to see what works best for you. Always clean, always friendly! I have no problem making the 25 minute drive out from Killeen to check out what Natural Grocers has going on. Its not like the giant Whole Foods stores, it has a much more quaint vibe going on, but you will find many of the same great products, without all the pretentiousness and pomp like at other high end natural/organic grocery stores. Their staff is great and so helpful. When I was pregnant and would come shopping they always insisted on helping carry my boxes out to my car. They are also very knowledgeable about their products. Being a crazy pregnant person, I had questions about pasteurized cheese and pressed juices, witch hazel, herbal teas...they knew it all! pro tip: don't come here hungry, you will end up wanting to try and buy everything you see! read more

I'm giving it five stars because it's located here in little ole Temple, for that they get kudo's. I know there is always HEB & their Central Market stuff but this is different. Minus the meat & produce selection, they have a good selection of frozen foods, cereal, yogurt, snacks & vitamins/supplements. When we moved to Killeen, I so missed the healthier food I had been getting where we previously lived. I would have to make the rounds from Walmart to HEB Plus to random vitamin stores to find what I needed. No more! This store really does have it all-meat, veggie meat, dairy, vitamins, produce, lots and lots of organic products, convenience foods, vegan and vegetarian foods, and frozen items. I found the prices to be quite reasonable, even cheaper than the local stores on some comparable items. I am in love! Thank you for opening such a great store. Even with the 20-30 minute drive, it saves me time that I would spend running from place to place and still not finding what I need. read more

I love this place! It can get a little tedious driving all the way out to Austin or another city for organic, wholesome foods and brands, so this little gem is such a convenience. They even have a small selection of books and a health and beauty area. It also seems like they have the same regular staff each time I come in, which I love- they're all so friendly and welcoming, it's easy to feel comfortable in their store. If you have them, I suggest bringing or buying reusable bags for your purchases or else you will be stuck with a cardboard box or carrying it all out to your car without. This place reminded me of an all natural/organic store back in Hawaii. They have a wide selection of products and the prices were pretty decent. They even have California Baby products and gDiaper products. Now I don't have to drive all the way to Round Rock to buy those products. read more

Nice to have a bona-fide organic and natural food store in the area, despite not being as large a metro area as Dallas or Austin. Nice selection of stuff, and all their produce is in fact organic. If they can't source an organic produce item at the moment, they won't substitute commercially-grown replacements. HOWEVER, the one drawback that I've found is they often sell stuff very close to the sell-by dates. I don't know if they tend to order too much given their expected sales volume, but I've been disappointed to get something home and find it's within days of expiry. So I've learned to get in the habit of verifying sell-by dates being reasonably out there before buying something. And the other complaint I have is that they are kind of Bring-Your-Own-Bag Nazis. If you don't bring your own, they won't give you a standard brown paper grocery bag, not even in a pinch. Let alone, God forbid, a plastic bag. They force you to use recycled boxes from their to-be-trash bins. I personally find this a little extreme, and offensively foisting their politically-correct value system on me. I've shopped at all kinds of organic stores and never had this forced on me like this. It's like they're too holy-holy to give you a brown paper bag, but they seem to have no problem using electricity from the local coal-fired plants, having their customers come in gas-guzzling SUV's and all the rest. I mention these to point out this is a bit hypocritical --- giving customers a damned bag -- bad --- but all the other environmentally- dubious things they interact with -- OK!! read more

I love this store! Products can be a bit pricey but most organic stores are. I can easily spend 30 mins browsing around or smelling the awesome oils. It's definitely worth the visit and the variety is pretty vast. You even bring your own bags which remind me of the times when I lived in Europe and went shopping. You aren't wasting plastic. If I could give no stars after the way my friends were treated tonight, I would. My three friends and I decided to go get charcoal tablets for one of them to make a face mask. Wow. So simple. From the time they walked into the store, they were followed around by a female employee. From the time they walked in until the time they walked out. When they went to check out, a man named Steven checked them out and literally rolled his eyes when my friend asked a question. There are cheaper alternatives to purchasing the items here. We can get most of them on amazon, but we like to keep our business local. Guess we'll have to find somewhere else to go, because this was unacceptable. read more

Update - good variety, but the Temple store no longer has sales mailings or inserts in the Sunday Temple paper, difficult to impossible to locate this info on their website. I would shop there more often if I knew what the current sales were, but with other stores carrying more organic and similar items to Natural Grocers, I go to NG less frequently, can usually find what I want at HEB, or WalMart, even Aldi carries some organic products. read more

I was recently diagnosed with food allergies and had a really hard time finding anything I could eat at HEB or Walmart so I decided to take a little drive over to Natural Grocers. I was able to find foods that I thought were now off limits to me and I couldn't be more excited. Any time I needed help Joe was there to help and answer any questions about any of the products. I love Natural Grocers and drive 21 + miles to come here. Their products are fresh and I have gotten some wonderful deals as well. However, I am sorry to say on my trip there yesterday I encountered a dirty restroom that was smelly, there was no tissue in one of the two stalls and worst of all, there was no water available to wash my hands, nor any type of sanitizer. I was rather shocked as I have used this restroom in the past and had no issues. When I approached the manger, her response was that they were working on it and it did not appear the issue would be resolved in the very near future. When I expressed my concern that employees could not "wash their hands before returning to work" she reassured me that THEIR restroom was functioning properly. Bottom line: it's a HEALTH Food store, it's flu season and even my checker was sick and wanted to go home. I hope your next trip finds these issues addressed. read more
