NOTHING short of the best Vet I have ever met! Dr. Hershman is absolutely amazing. I brought my 7 yr old Chihuahua here for a second opinion regarding a much needed overdue dental procedure. I was drawn to Dr Hershamn because I appreciate a Holisitic approach to all things medical. To start I was so impressed by Alison who runs the office. From my first email I knew this would be a great experience. Alison answered all questions and was super accommodating regarding scheduling. I was blown away by the amount of time and care Dr. Hershman took to explain the pre and post procedure care. I was so nervous about the procedure. Little Red had a major cleaning and had several teeth removed. She did great! Dr. Hershman stayed in contact with us and continued to check on her during the days after, including days she was off. She was super responsive to all our questions. The techs in the office are also very friendly and I felt safe leaving Red with them. I can't imagine ever using a different vet. read more

I have never known of a less caring, less respectful vet in my life. I reached out in May to have my dog come to Dr. Hershman's practice. She is a healthy old dog who loves life but needs acupuncture and laser to keep her going. I was told in May that I needed to have her records sent and to fill out paperwork before "the doctor will consider your dog for the practice". I did as I was told and confirmed that they received my paperwork. Then I waited... While my dog was in pain, I waited... A few weeks later, I called to inquire and again, I heard nothing... while my dog was in pain, I heard nothing. Then I called again (end of June) and still never got the courtesy of a call back to see if my dog was "accepted" into the practice. Could you not just be decent enough to call and say, sorry, we aren't accepting you but you could try.... ?? Is that too much to ask of you? IDK if it is because my dog is a pitbull mix or maybe my interest in pain relief isn't lucrative enough for this woman but talk about a lack of compassion! MY OLD DOG WAS IN PAIN. I reached out to you, Dr. Hershman, the vet, who states she cares about animals. You obviously don't and should retire. I would warn anyone who is considering this woman as your vet. If she can't be bothered to have office staff call you back, I doubt she will be bothered to care for your animal in need. I travel from Maryland to see Dr. Hershman and I have done it for approximately 18 years. The reason I do this is because she is clearly a caring and excellent Vet. I have read some of the comments on the negative side here and find them to be the opposite of what I experienced. Stacey is always looking out for my financials and always fills prescriptions for my online purchases for Interceptor or any other item I need. She never forces any product on me, merely makes suggestions to make my life easier. She instructs her staff to make phone calls while I am there to try to find items at lower costs and advises me when something is too expensive. Stacey is very knowledgeable and does her research. Her personality is strong but her heart is in the right place. The animals come first. When my Siberian Husky was dying she took her home to her house, got very little sleep, and did everything she could to save her life. I have seen her do this with many, many animals. I have never seen another Vet even offer to do it let alone do it. These qualities make her the Vet she is. And if her strong personality is too much for some people then do not go see her! She does not tolerate incompetence; whether from another Vet or from a pet owner. She keeps me on my toes which keeps my dog in tip top shape. If you do not do your research then when she recommends something just tell her, "Stacey, let me check into that and get back to you". She is going to try to get you to feed quality food, not the crap that many Vets and stores sell. She is going to try to get you to use holistic products over harsh chemicals. If you do not agree then you are at the wrong Vet. And all you have to do is tell her you will get back to her if you do not want to follow her advice. But I advise you to read about what she is suggesting because 9 of 10 times she is exactly right. I am surprised to see that people are not aware of the fact that she is a stand out. Recently took my 15 year old Jack Russell for check up & blood work. Dr Hershman is a vet well versed in both traditional, preventative and alternative health for animals. She is a compassionate and honest vet who explains things really well & takes time with your pet. Her workers are also very helpful and the pet hospital is a warm welcoming place. read more

I just moved to Yonkers and have been concerned where to bring my dog, Starr when she needs a vet. By accident, I wandered down Warburton Avenue and found the town of Hastings on the Hudson. Delighted to see a sign outside for Natural Vet for Pets, I ventured in to meet the smiling face of the receptionist. I learned that Dr. Hershman is a Homeopathic vet and uses acupuncture to heal. She does not over vaccinate! What impressed me also is that the facility is in a home where once I entered, I felt the warmth and caring that this "homey" space affords. I am so delighted that I will be sending all Starr's medical information to Dr. Joy Hershman, D.V.M. I have a gut feeling that she lives up to her first name! read more

I can not praise Dr. Stacey Hershman DVM enough to do justice. I was fortunate that after having another vet for over 15, that I had the good fortune to finally see the error of my vets' ways and that it was time to hit the road. I had left my old vet because I had begun to notice that despite my concerns, my holistic vet in Mamaroneck seemed to be subjecting my dog to a great deal of vaccinations. I had always said; please don't give them any more than they HAVE to have to stay healthy. I believed, I trusted and I stayed. After all, I follow a holistic life, is it too much to ask a vet who follows conventional as well as complementary medicine not to give non essential vaccines and medication to my dogs if they don't need it. In addition, I started to leave the office with suggested products, which I began to think were simply padding my bill. Anyway, back to the more important issue at hand. Fortunately, as I said, an event occurred and I moved on. Long story short, my dog had a hotspot, I found a natural, less destructive way to heal him and it was clearly already going away when it was time for a planned vet visit. The problem occurred when I went in and the vet used a scare tactic and told me it would never go away on its own despite what I could already see happening. I caved, after all, I trusted her so I bought her expensive medication. A few days later I realized that it was more about bill padding than caring for my dog and so on my way home through Hastings, I glanced on a sign that I must have seen at least a thousand time but this time I stopped and went into Natural Vet for Pets. I asked some questions, loved the answers and my dogs and I never turned back. Dr. Stacey Hershman is a blessing, plain and simple. Is it possible that she loves our pets as much as we do? It's close I believe that Dr. Hershman is extremely caring and knowledgeable. She appears to keep up to date on the latest in modern conventional as well as alternative therapies. She definitely is concerned for her four legged charges as well as us who have two. She always takes the time to explain everything and I see that she will not find things to do just to increase the bill. In fact, she is just the opposite. I am presently out of work. Dr Hershman highly recommended a supplement for my dog but quickly added not to get it yet because it is a bit pricey. Who does that? Someone who really cares! To top it off, my dog has never been as comfortable at the vet's office as he was when he went in for his wellness exam. While Dr Hershman spoke to me, he was walking around the office and comfortably lounging around as if he were at home. I couldn't be happier with our vet and could go on forever but I will simply say, do yourself and your pets a favor and go to Dr Hershman. read more

Dr. Stacey Hershman has taken care of all three of my cats with great compassion and skill. I trust her implicitly with my animals and I have been very tough on the vets I have worked with in the past. We have to travel a bit to see her. It's worth the trip. Recently, one of my cats had a possible emergency and she told me to bring him right in. Once there she immediately knew what to do. I left with such a peace and calm knowing that my cat received excellent care. I slept well that night. And, I wasn't charged through the nose, either. She has been very realistic with me and has avoided doing unnecessary treatments or charge unnecessarily. She tells it like it is...gently if the situation calls for that. One of my cats has a pretty intense medical history. She is very easy to approach when I have any questions or concerns. Her staff is excellent too. Dr. Hershman has great passion for what she does. It is easy to see how much she loves animals. I have brought my cats to see her for both conventional and complementary medicine. Her knowledge is extensive on both fronts. If you bring your pet here and you do NOT pay for everything Dr. Hershman recommends she will argue with you and accuse you of not caring for your pet properly. She is quick to lose her temper if you disagree with anything she recommends for your pet, you have to go along with everything she says if you want a smooth, non confrontational experience, if you disagree with her watch out! Bottom line there are plenty of vets and I shouldn't have to pay money to argue with someone when I can go somewhere else where my business and money will be more appreciated. read more

Dr Stacey Hershman is the best vet, end of story. To those who disagree, that is your opinion, but she does whatever she can to help an animal. How many other vets have taken animals home over the weekend when they are seriously ill or met patients on her days off at the hospital. If that doesn't say dedicated and caring, then I don't know what else does. Yes having an animal does cost money, but I would do anything for my animals if there was an issue and I trust Dr Hershman with their care 100%! read more

My dog suffered in his final days due to her negligence. Besides incorrectly interpreting a lyme disease test, she always tried to sell me products and added services to my bill that I had never requested. DO NOT take your animals to her. read more
