However, I've had the doctor cancel multiple appointments on me. While life does happen, when you're dealing with medication that can cause adverse side effects it's really frustrating to then not be able to get in touch with the doctor for days at a time to either reschedule or refill. He will only see weight loss patients on certain days as well. This last time, I called on Wednesday ( over a week after the office cancelled my appointment) and Ella told me she would not message the doctor about my medication but would message his scheduling assistant to reschedule. She seemed incredibly annoyed that I couldn't rearrange my entire work day with 3 hours notice to drive to the office to wait at least 20 minutes to see the doctor...so then she would get back to me. I call Thursday, and she said she left a message with the scheduling assistant and she will NOW get a message to the doctor's medical assistant about my medication...something she couldn't have done the day before apparently? Friday comes and she calls again to say she's putting a message in, which is what she said the day before. Now it's Monday, and I haven't even been called back after calling twice and leaving a message. I've run out of my medication, and so will start to experience negative side effects. The doctor knows all this, but apparently it's more important to gate-keep who gets their messages to the doctor and who gets their medications refilled and who doesn't. I'm shocked any receptionist is allowed such power. Especially when combined with the cost of visits and medication, since no insurance is accepted, I would highly recommend not using Marina Village Medicine for your weight loss journey. This is the fourth time Ella has prevented/tried to prevent me from getting a message to the doctor, which is an absolutely insane business model for a paying patient. The actual women at the office are lovely and very helpful, but it is near impossible to reach them during business hours the majority of the time.

I can not imagine having a more personable experience with such a kind hearted, knowledgeable and patient physician! Dr. Hudson was able to diagnose and prevent some serious issues with me over the years of which I am in her debt of gratitude! Dr. Hudson is always consistent to discuss good healthy eating habits and exercise on most visits. She always inquired on how things were going personally in my life and would offer useful advice. My office visits never felt rushed and I actually felt like she spent more time with me, if she felt it necessary. I think Dr. Hudson really cares about people and wants only the best for her patients. Please indulge me and allow me to expand on just a few of my experiences with Dr. Hudson over the last 25 plus years of her being MY doctor! For example, the year my mother passed away in 2001, she was extremely kind and very patient with me by allowing me to express my grief, without rushing me, in my appointments, during that difficult year. I am sure some of my appointment times went over the allotted time frame, but she always seemed to know what was important and needed. Dr. Hudson was a VERY busy woman, in her Walnut Creek office at that time, with a full waiting room of patients, yet she made the time to help me cope with my loss. Another example is when I lost my medical insurance for a period of time, Dr. Hudson was so gracious and worked with me and gave me discounted visits to enable me to continue seeing her and still receive excellent services. Also, she did NOT skimp on those visits, either, as she still provided the same high quality level of care! During that time, I would request basic short office visits, to help minimize my cost, but I feel she did extra services because she knew it was important, at no additional charge. She always tried to give me advice on places to get labs and tests at a lower cost, when possible, too. I can't thank her enough for her kindness and generosity as she really helped me financially. It was a bit disheartening to read some of the negative comments regarding Dr. Hudson, as that has absolutely NOT been my experience with her at all! She is a good, decent human being and an expert in her field and I think she only wants the best for her patients! Dr. Hudson is also a Fellow of the American College Of Physicians, which Fellows are considered a distinguished group of doctors dedicated to teaching, research as well as medical practice! She is always well versed on current medical matters and procedures and I feel that I am in VERY capable hands and have full confidence in her abilities to keep me healthy as she has done all these years! Dr. Hudson is great for being able to make same-day appointments during regular M-F business hours…read more If you don't typically require care after normal business hours, don't travel frequently and don't need a specialist, you might be happy with Dr. Hudson. Unfortunately, I've had two occasions when I've needed to see a doctor and I didn't time my sickness during a M-F business hour. Dr. Hudson has no after-hours call service, so if you need attention after hours, you will be directed to an urgent care center or the emergency room if it's after-hours for urgent care (which is even more upsetting that a patient's only option is to head to the emergency room - since emergency rooms are already overfilled and the staff has much more important things to attend to than someone who just requires an antibiotic!). Dr. Hudson also won't call in a prescription for anything without seeing you in person first. So, if you have a recurring medical issue which she's previously seen you in the past and all you need is an antibiotic called in for you - she won't do it. I might otherwise be fine with this policy, however, on the most recent occasion I was traveling and unable to get to her office until later in the week. The receptionist indicated no exceptions can be made to this policy. Once again: my only choice was to head to a local urgent care office or emergency room. My other frustration with Dr. Hudson as my primary (which she is no longer - because I need a primary doctor that I can actually reach after hours and who will be able to prescribe an antibiotic for a recurring medical issue when I am traveling) is that she comes across as knowing most everything. She purports to be a sports doctor (in addition to everything else), so on a recent visit I had her take a look at a lump on the back of my leg. She diagnosed it as some sort of cyst or other "common" mass that she could take care of in her office. Luckily, I already had an appointment scheduled with a knee specialist - and it turned out I had a tumor on the nerve that required surgery (with the assistance from a spinal doctor due to the location on the nerve!). I've had relationships with many doctors in my 1/2 century - and other than Dr. Hudson, I have always been able to reach my primary doctor after hours and have never had an issue with obtaining an antibiotic for a recurring medical issue. Although I haven't found another primary doctor yet - I will happily visit my local urgent care before giving any more of my business to Dr. Hudson!

I've been to Dr. Shames for a series of treatments a few times over the last decade. When I go it's because my level of stress and tension has for some reason risen above a threshold that makes it not only impossible for me to sleep, but causes me so much anxiety that I feel like I can't breathe or sit still let alone lie down let alone rest. This feels unbearable. Each time after a series of treatments I'm back to normal, sleeping through the night and feeling free of my anxiety disorder. Having a happy life restored is priceless. One sits down in a comfy chair and watches a video of your choice (I watch nature videos) while a couple sensors are taped to your head and a computer apparently senses one's brainwaves. Then the video dims or flickers some amount, apparently when the computer senses that one's brain activity isn't in healthy balance. At first I guessed that my brain didn't like the flickering, but apparently the brain understands that the flickering is information on how it can adjust to a healthy balance. I've tried many other things including acupuncture and massage, but none are anywhere near as relaxing or effective. Even if you're not in crisis, I suspect everyone could benefit from a Neurofeedback tune-up! I also appreciate Dr. Shames' calm and true compassion.

I've done other forms of neurofeedback before with mild to moderate results, but wow, this really works! I have suffered from insomnia --waking many times a night for around seven years. I sometimes have trouble falling asleep, even with melatonin. I awaken every 2 hours or so and rarely feel deeply rested. After only four sessions of Carl's ILF neurofeedback, I began sleeping 6.5 to 7 hours each night! I also felt less irritable and more relaxed during the day. For me, the effects are similar to what I experienced after mindfulness meditation retreats: a feeling of peace, of being awake and aware, but not hyper-vigilant. I am more reflective and less reactive, with the freedom to choose my responses to life's challenges. Dr. Shames told me that it would likely take more than five visits for my brain to hold the new patterns so I am prepared for that and will update when I return to the East Bay and can do more sessions with him.

The office was empty when I arrived and when I left. I can see why. What I do not understand is why there is no live person who ever answers the phone. There is also nobody who responds to their E-Mail system. Calls are not returned most of the time. Refills are done inaccurately or not at all. I was sadly disappointed. As a health care professional in a leadership role with another organization, my entire life is spent thinking about customer service. Dr. Tomsky's office is an utter failure in this regard.

STAY AWAY PEOPLE, STAY FAR AWAY…read more I've written a detailed description of my encounter below but if you don't feel like reading, know that this Doctor has another yelp location that has been reported closed in which the reviews speak for themselves. When your appointment is at 11:45 and it's 12:30 and no one has said anything or come to check on you....... I came in for iv hydration to help nip this cold I have in the bud. This place had good reviews, was open and able to fit me in on short notice. Service from the front office staff was subpar. If the treatment is going to start late or the doctor is delayed, you need to communicate that with the patient, not just keep them waiting while you whisper outside to try and figure things out. Seriously biggest pet peeve ever! But that's not all. Tech inserts iv, all is well until she tapes it down and turns to accidentally yank out my iv!! Oh not to mention she blames ME for moving when she was the one who turned and pulled it out. Are you f'in kidding?! 2nd try, no good. 3rd try, Dr. FINALLY comes in, wiggles the needle around - OUCH!!! Dr. Yanks it out. They talk about my veins and how small they are bc I'm dehydrated. Try's another vein, nope. Moves to other arm, and tries another vein. nope. All the while the tech keeps saying how she had the first vein and I moved and it came out. NO, you turned and pulled it out. B*TCH. Dr. Moves back to other arm, obviously flustered she doesn't take note of the anxiety attack I'm having from being poked (couldn't breathe, pale, lips loosing color), and sticks me and says it's good to go. I tell them it hurts a bit and she says it's fine, so they leave me. 10 minutes in, I look down at my arm to find a SWOLLEN arm, that hurts to touch. I call them in and they frantically turn the nob to stop. They tell me my vein probably ripped and the fluid got in my bloodstream. Didn't take blame that I told them it was hurting and that maybe it was their fault in the first place for sticking it in the wrong place. They refunded my money, and I left still sick and with a swollen hurting arm. Stay far away!!!
