There's nothing in walking distance but there are plenty of things within a five minute radius drive wise. Staff here was very friendly and it was easy to check in as well. The rooms were cozy, the amenities were also very good too! Breakfast was a hit or miss. Simply because of limited food options. There's plenty of parking here as well as well as a sheltered overhead entrance if you are getting dropped off by a rideshare, etc at the front door. Overall, I was pretty content with my visit. The shuttle drivers are very, very helpful, and the subtle runs from early, around 5 AM, until 7 PM. The complementary food served in the morning is delicious, and the coffee shop is good, too. This was my second time staying for a week or more, and the staff was good to me night and day. I very much enjoyed the full-size refrigerator, and the kitchenette with supplied cooking equipment and silverware. The non-carpeted floor in the entryway/kitchen/bathroom was clean, and the carpeted area seemed clean, too. I do wish they provided handheld shower, heads, but oh well... certain people can't be trusted with that kind of responsibility, right? For this price point, with the Mayo patient discount, I felt like I got my moneys worth.

I…read moretypically stay at Hilton brand hotels- Hampton inn, garden inn, etc but my sister booked this stay for me for her son's baseball tournament in Rochester. Like I said- I'm used to Hilton hotels and I was quite surprised by the spaciousness, but especially the comfort of the bed! I typically don't sleep well at hotels just because the bed is so uncomfortable but this bed was just as comfortable if not more than my $8k bed at home. The suite was nice- a pull out sofa, sink, dishwasher, stove top, closest, large desk, private room with a king size bed, plus the shower and bathroom were separate with a closed door from the sink and additional closet. The room also got super cold which I appreciated because I like my hotel rooms to be at 60 degrees in the summer (crazy I know) and this was way cold even at 65! Also, free breakfast is always a plus. The only criticism I would have is that the workout facility is practically right in the lobby with windows for walls for everyone to see but I didn't plan on using it this time around so it wasn't that big of a deal but if I had I may have felt a tad uncomfortable but not because the clientele, just feeling like everyone can see in. We went downstairs and asked if we could be switched to a room. Andrew was so pleasant and immediately desk get switched. The gym was functional, and you could get a good workout in. The water machine was broken in the gym, but they were trying to get that fixed. The room itself was a normal residence in room. It was stocked with everything you would need. Some of the cooking utensils could probably be replaced as the pans were pretty scraped up and the can opener was almost completely rusted. The complementary breakfast every morning was what you would expect and hit the spot. Hot and cold food. I think the thing that impressed me most was walking to the front desk to ask a question and hearing Andrew answer the phone for a guest. It was around 4 PM in the afternoon and the guest was asking Andrew if there was still hot coffee being provided by the hotel. The breakfast ends in the morning, but Andrew offered to make the guest a fresh pot of hot decaffeinated coffee if they were willing to wait 15 minutes. I could not believe the customer service that he was providing to go above and beyond to try to meet this particular guests needs. Anytime we had a question or needed something. Sometime in the future this will be a great location for those that need to visit Mayo Clinic but not now. I will say the staff is great...much of this out of their control. I received no notice of the situation as verified by Marriott Reservations. That is not right.

This hotel is located in the center of town, you can easily access plenty of restaurants, several churches, the world renowned Mayo Clinic, convince stores, all by a short walk. The outside look was not impressive. The Kahler Grand Hotel, is the sister hotel, it can be seen from every window towering over every building. This is not the case with the Kahler Inn. The inside is connected to Caribou Coffee, there is a small lobby with a tv and some couches. At the front desk the representative wasn't very professional looking or friendly, but they did their job. There is no continental breakfast included with your stay. We took the elevator to the 8th floor, room 830. The hallways looked clean, but very, very ordinary and basic, without a single plant or a picture anywhere in sight. Our room was a nice size with two queen sized beds. Each bed had three pillows. The linens weren't as smooth as they should be. The room was carpeted but there was no odor. There's a nice sized flat screen tv, a coffee maker, hairdryer, iron, and ironing board, fridge and microwave. I struggled to find an outlet. I eventually found an extension outlet behind the dresser. The towels provided were very thin and worn looking. The water pressure in the sink was very low. The shower head was pretty low, and it was not detachable. I'm 5"7 and it was difficult for me to shower. My guest was 6"3, he extra struggled. The beds were pretty comfortable. I slept very well. We never received any housekeeping services during our stay. On the first morning, while I was still in bed, the housekeeper let herself in. I asked her if she could come later. She said "ok", but she never did. This was a below average hotel. They could easily make some small adjustments to make this a much more pleasant stay for their guests.

When I got to my room, the door wouldn't even open all the way because it kept getting stuck on the floor. Once inside, the room conditions were completely unacceptable. There was gross grime caked onto the shower surface, and the bottom of the tub was so slick and smooth I almost slipped and fell. The TV did not work at all, the room phone was completely unplugged, and there were visible stains in the carpet. When I plugged the phone in and called the front desk to report the broken TV and the filthy shower, the same rude clerk told me there was "nothing he could do" about either issue and refused to help. To top it off, as someone with Celiac disease, I asked about breakfast options and found absolutely nothing safe for me to eat. Between the safety hazards in the shower, the lack of cleanliness, the broken amenities, and the hostile customer service, I am incredibly frustrated. If you value cleanliness, basic safety, or decent service, do yourself a favor and book somewhere else.
