I went here earlier with my family earlier this week on vacation, the waiter was awesome and food was delicious. Liking the establishment, I went back again for dinner with more of my family after calling asking if they had room for a party of 12. For which we were told they had room and could seat us at two separate tables and that was quite ok with us! We told them we would be coming and we're there 5 minutes later. I walked in and the one hostess was working on an ipad and seemed to be very agitated and yelled at my father for holding the door open for which my family was entering and that was very obvious. She then said said let's close the door" in a very rude tone. Feeling unwelcome from what went from a good first experience to quite the opposite now the next hostess came over and asked how many. We told her we talked with someone and we had a party of 12 and asked if we knew someone at the bar because they had reserved a table for 12 as well, which was odd considering they don't take reservations and the full party wasn't there. She then went to make to 2 tables of 6 for which a manager came over and said she couldn't. We then we're told that we couldn't because it would overwhelm the kitchen. As someone who has worked in the restaurant business a while now I was furious. We we're told we could have the two tables, then we were turned away and told it would be an hour when i know their kitchen wouldn't be overwhelmed because the other party of 12 wasn't even there yet??? and so much for no reservations when they reserved a table for an unfinished party? but it doesn't end there! the rude host from the beginning added the cherry on top with saying "we don't take reservations it's first com first serve in the rudest tone. Overall really disappointed in what was a very nice place. Sad they lost our buisness. best of luck read more

Wow, what a disappointment... Have been here before and it was great, but got lunch here and it was horrible. The "grain blend" in the fit bowl is code for "reheated, gummy, white rice". Everything is coated in a bottled sweet and sour sauce that reminds you of the worst dive Chinese restaurant you've ever visited. I wouldn't pay $5 for this lunch, let alone the $100 I was charged. A complete failure on all accounts. This used to be a favorite, but has turned into a tourist trap. Save yourself the disappointment and just stay home... read more

We sat on the back deck for lunch. Great view of the water and even better food. the Fig and The Pig sandwich was fantastic.

I had high hopes for this place but I was extremely disappointed by the end of our meal. We ordered one of the seafood boards, they were out of oysters they said and we asked them to add extra shrimp in its place. The shrimp was over cooked. The crab legs were over cooked and cold and so were most of the clams. They gave us one small bowl of butter for a table of 10. A majority of our table ordered steaks. Everyone got their meal except for me. I had to wait almost 15 minutes to receive my steak, I kept getting told "just a few more minutes ".. the steaks were flavorless. They tasted like water and weren't worth the wait. Service wasn't the best either and the wait time just to get seated was ridiculous. Not worth another visit. read more

Service was very good. First I ordered salmon with risotto potatoes for $31. Rossoto was substituted with grits. They were cold. The waitress took my whole meal back to warm up potatoes. They came back room temperature. Usually mashed potatoes at a restaurants are so hot you have to let them cool. Second, the zucchini was served with the stem part attached. The Brussel sprouts the same...you have to cut off the core or stem. read more

We were able to get in on a Tuesday night in the summer. Really great food and service. The view of the sound at sunset was amazing.

I took my family to NC Coast to eat outdoor, as they are advertising that they are a participant in Count on Me NC . . . unfortunately they had one waiter who refused to wear a face mask. Every other employee was wearing one, but this one young man who was a server to the outside area had no face covering on at all. I spoke to management and he tied a piece of cloth around his neck and still refused to put it up to cover his mouth and nose. I firmly believe if a business is going to post on their website that they are participating in "Count on Me" they need to require all their employees to participate or they simply aren't committed to the Count on Me NC! It is unfortunate because our server wore her face covering, the food was good and the atmosphere was excellent . . . I would have given them at least 4 stars, maybe even 5 . . . except they aren't committed to keeping the public safe. Two restuarants in OBX have had to shut down already do to COVID case spread . . . it is worse to lie to the public at least be honest. read more

I eat Gluten Free, I'm Celiac. We went here on a recommendation from our realtor. Though this is a review about the food, it's also a tribute to customer service. There were many gf options. To start we ordered Bloody Mary's. I was so excited to have one because usually they contain wheat in the mix. It was perfectly spiced, and garnished beautifully with celery, 3 olives and lemon & lime wedge. The glass was rimmed with chili powder, I think. Our waiter, Taylor, suggested the Chef's Board. So, why not...right! He also suggested a starter. My husband had gumbo and I had the pork belly kale salad. That salad had it all, sweet, salty, tart, creamy and crunchy! The gumbo reminded my husband of New Orleans. So then...the Chef's Board...we waited, which we are used to cause gf takes longer, usually. Taylor was checking in each time he passed. It's an open kitchen atmosphere so I could see there was a sort of huddle, and I said to Tom, they must be working on the GF. Sure enough, a young lady approached out table. She asked if corn tortillas fried with other items would be a concern. Of course, I said yes as I would be very I'll very soon. She said they thought that might be the case and they did include some fried items so she wanted to be sure before it came to the table. They were going to create a new board and to let her know if there was anything else they could do for us to let them know. Finally, the Chef's Board arrived! Pretty food displayed on North Carolina cedar wood. Tuna Patron, baked oysters with pimento cheese and jalapeno pork belly, shrimp & grits and street tacos with char grilled fish! They had a ton of outdoor seating! Get safe there during covid. Even had live music! It was a bit pricey but the experience was different than that of a typical tourist seafood spot. We had the chefs board which featured almost every protein on the menu all which was cooked perfectly! It was presented beautifully. On a wooden plank! They were accommodating with my boyfriends dairy allergy. The menu had something for everyone. It was a great place to celebrate a birthday dinner! Poorly managed, lack of response to customers. We submitted our names for a party of (9) and was told the wait would be 1 1/2 hours until our table would be available. At 1 1/2 hours we were told that there were still (2) larger groups ahead of us. After over (2) hours of waiting, our table was finally cleaned and we were seated. After sitting for (15) minutes, I had to chase down a waiter to inquire as to when someone would be available to take our orders. At this point, the children and some adults in the party had had enough and we made our departure. As I understood from some other patrons the food is very good, but not worth this kind of hassle. A new restaurant in Duck, open only two weeks and now my favorite on the Banks. My wife and I come to OBX three times a year and eat most meals out. I can say, without reservation, this is the BEST meal I have had since coming to the banks in 1969! The ambience is excellent, the view of the water outstanding and the food, the food should be reserved for the gods! We had the flank stake sandwich, salt and vinegar fries, cauliflower appetizer, pickled vegetables. All perfectly done and delicious. Very few lunch meals are presented artistically, ours was. Dessert was beignets and a chocolate mousse dish, both outstanding! I was torn about providing an honest review. Good reviews often result in the absence of a table when you want it, but I'll chance it, this restaurant deserves the best of reviews. If you visit or live on the Banks, you must, must, must try NC Coast Grill & Bar. read more

At the beginning of our trip we ordered a meal to go and didn't have any issues. The last night of our trip, things were opening back up and we decided to try to dine at the establishment, but outside. We were seated promptly and given menus. We had called prior to coming and asked if the menu would be different than what was being offered for carry out and we were assured that it was a larger menu and could be found on the website. (We had already tried to find it on there-- never did find it.) After being seated, a waitress (not sure of her name, she never smiled, never acted interested that we were there) took our drink order and we inquired about the menu and were told that the menu we were given (which only had a few items on it) was up to date. We didn't see anything on there that our young children could eat, so we asked if we could order french fries or something for them. She said yes and that she would bring a kid's menu, but would get an order of fries going for us. The fries arrived pretty quickly, but were delivered by a different server who didn't ask if we needed anything. After about 20 minutes, our waitress finally came back to get our order and told us that they were out of the drink we had ordered. Didn't really seem to care about it at all. At this point we knew we couldn't continue to wait since there seemed to be no interest in serving us, so we asked for our check pay to for the order of fries. After about 10 more minutes (mind you, there were only a few people dining at the time) she came back with the check so we could get on our way and try to find somewhere that actually wanted to serve us dinner! Great location with beautiful views and we had been following social media accounts with anticipation about visiting during our trip. Wish the service had been better! read more

So I give the food a 5 star. It was delicious and I would definitely go back. The reason I'm rating it a 4 is that most of the servers were not wearing their masks properly or at all. They would be carrying around food and drinks and bringing them to tables with their masks around their necks or falling off. I know it's hot and they are not comfortable; I totally get it but it's just super important during this time to be safe so restaurants can stay open. I have seen a lot of places in OBX following the CDC guidelines so I hope this changes here to keep the good food going! read more

Last day of vacation and we just had to come for lunch! The food and service are beyond the best! Off the lunch menu we had mahi mahi street tacos , the strawberry balsamic salad with fresh grilled salmon and the seared Tuna Patron. Oh my a must try for the flavors and freshness. Went to NC Coast for the first time with my family after they had told me about the amazing meal they had had prior. Came in and was told to wait 30 minutes to allow the kitchen to catch up on their orders, and we sat down at the bar. Server there was nice and there were good cocktails and amazing appetizers, but the entrees we got were unacceptable. I got the wagyu burger, and it came on a cheap bun with no sauce and the only "fixin" they had was one slice of lettuce. We also got the shrimp and grits and fish tacos, and the shrimp and grits was also missing many ingredients and was overall poor, and while the fish tacos looked great, they tasted fishy. I'd be willing to put it down as a bad day, as I've heard good things in the past. Hope they can get back to where the were in the future. read more

Crazy busy restaurant! We arrived at 535pm, and there was already a 1.5 hour wait. The OBX is really struggling this year due to staff shortages because they rely on young adults from Europe, many of whom couldn't come this year. Anyway, the point is that everyone is busting their butts and doing the best they can. Please be patient! The food here was well worth the wait, and our server (Mag?) was excellent. The warm Carolina crab dip and Mexican poutine were delicious. We followed up with tuna patron, blood orange scallops, trinity pasta, and chicken and goat. Loved everything! Only drawback was sitting outside, the band was a little too loud. But huge thanks and appreciation for all the staff here who are clearly working hard and doing their best under difficult circumstances. read more

I went here on vacation and the food was so good we went back. I'm not a big crab guy but the crab dip was Phenomenal.

I'd probably give it less than a star if I could but then again the hostess was at least nice! We had 1830 reservations. There is a sign at the front door that says to use the back door. There is a back door and a second side door so we finally figured after the back door was blocked that it's the second side door. Walked through the restaraunt to get to the hostess stand and were Immediately sat at a table. Then.. we waited.. the hostess filled our glasses with water and then... we waited. The waitress came over and asked what we wanted to drink. No personality, no hello how are you.. nothing. It felt as if we were inconveniencing her! My husband ordered a beer and was asked if that was the brand which there was only one of each brand of beer so this seemed odd.. our drinks were brought over and then we were asked what we wanted to eat. We asked what seasoning was on the shrimp and were told "I will ask!" But she didn't move so we ordered but asked that she find out. When she came back my husband said he didn't like his beer that there was possibly THC. The waitress got very offended and said there is none and assured him but my husband said please bring me a Michelin ultra. The waitress walked away very displeased and when she returned to our table, clearly did not want to serve us any longer. We ordered our food and had to ask if sides were included. Dishes are overpriced and do not include sides. It was like pulling teeth to get the server to even talk to us. We overheard the head chef, maybe owner, talking about the chefs board and really thought that might have been something we would have been interested in. As the waitress walked by without the Michelob ultra my sister waived her over. She asked if she could get a cup of soup and was told they only sold bowls. She also asked where the ultra was that was ordered and clearly it had not. Again, no personality, no friendliness! We were done.. we told the hostess we would pay for the one beer and leave. The hostess tried to say she would explain the menu but it was too late.. very disappointed and won't be back. This place is amazing! We went last night with a large party and they were very accommodating. We ordered the chefs board and everything on it was delicious!!! We had a terrible experience by far the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in my life. We had our food which was okay then when paying the check we asked for a local discount because we are locals. An extremely rude manager refused then allowed our request and changed why we couldn't get the discount several times. We had gotten this discount just the day before for reference. We spoke for about 3 minutes after paying the check before being told they had another reservation and needed us to leave immediately. Fun fact: This restaurant doesn't do reservations try to get one online or call them they do not offer them. Being lied to after spending 200+ dollars is very disheartening. This establishment was our favorite restaurant we now plan to never return. read more

First evening dinner we visited during our four day mini-vacation. Was recommended and we were excited to see it was highly rated. We sat outside overlooking the Sound. At first, not the biggest area to eat, but well worth it. The food was phenomenal!! We had Mexican Poutine for the app (a must try) and excellent! Split a Southwest Chicken dish for the entree. Dessert had to have the Beignets. The specialty cocktails are awesome, as well. Bottom Line: don't come to Duck/Corolla without stopping by. Amazing food. We ended up eating here four times during our week stay in Duck. The first night the service was okay; our orders came out after forever and they had forgotten the appetizers. To make-up for it, we got free beignets for dessert. The other three nights the service was impeccable. Very nice wait staff and they even brought our dog some water. The view is also incredible and the live music adds to the ambiance. Definitely a must try. read more
