Great location with beautiful views, right in the middle of several shops and the boardwalk. I really wanted to love our meal at NC Coast Grill, but unfortunately, it fell short. I ordered the seafood pasta instead of my usual ribeye, and I regretted not sticking with the steak. The pasta lacked flavor and seasoning. The scallops tasted good on their own, but the dish as a whole was disappointing. My daughter ordered the chicken and goat cheese pasta, and she felt the same way. I've had better crab dip in places that weren't even near the beach. When you're this close to the ocean, the food should highlight fresh coastal flavors. The "Peach Please" drinks were also disappointing. They tasted more like straight liquor than a well-balanced cocktail. We were hoping for enjoyable drinks with dinner, not something that tasted like it was meant to get us drunk. NC coast has a great view of the sound. We were seated quickly upon arrival and discussed dietary restrictions (pork) with the waiter. He was initially warm and as we ordered, asked that he let us know if we inadvertently selected a dish containing pork. The dishes arrived with astonishing speed. The Caesar salad had some unidentified fried object on it and when I asked the waiter, he let me know it was pork rinds. He did not acknowledge that it was an error and flippantly suggested I remove them. I asked for a plate to put them on. The waiter's demeanor turned cold after this (what I considered innocuous) exchange. Regarding the dishes, everything was beautifully presented and arrived hot and fresh at our table. I would not recommend the fried cauliflower as it was very bland with some chili sauce splashed over top. The scallops were very well prepared however. NC Coast is a nice spot for a special meal, especially with the view. Just hope the service is more consistent with other guests. read more

For the past couple years, my friends and I spend a weekend in Duck together. Since this tradition has started, NC Coast Grill and Bar has been a staple in our yearly-weekend. The food and the service is always incredible. While the wait times for the weekends are a bit absurd - no reservations, first come, first served - we are still eager to come back for more. They have incredible steamed crab legs, their tigers bite salad (my favorite), their salt and vinegar fries, reasonably priced drinks, and yummy desserts are all highly recommended from me! read more

What a great place. It is bright and airy. They do have outdoor seating and even though it was 55 degrees with a 25 mph wind, there were people eating on the deck. Our waiter, Carlos, is great. Smiling, friendly and polite and makes great recommendations. My husband had the fish and chips (salt and vinegar). I had the gumbo and a side of sweet potato fries. So really good. Been here two years in a row while on vacation. The food is amazing! The location is great too, fantastic views. We've gotten both regular entries and the board. I would definitely try the board, it's such a great experience and it's worth the money. You get a good amount of food and are able to try just about everything on the menu. A chef's board to feed five including crab cake, shrimp and grits, beef and potatoes, fried green tomatoes, cheesy Potatoes, vegetables and oysters and more I am sure. Unfortunately, we didn't see our server again for almost 30 minutes. Our food was delivered by someone other than our server, before we even received our cocktails. This was our very first stop for dinner on our great Outer Banks vacation. We sat on the boardwalk overlooking the ocean at sunset on Fourth of July. Came here at 445pm on a Tuesday for a party of 3. The place gets packed quickly so if you are a big party, be sure to get there by 5pm or else the wait is long. We ordered the daily specials ahi tuna steak which was tasty and good quality seafood but the food came at a room temperature. We also ordered the seafood pasta with lots of good seafood (scallops, shrimps, lobster and crab meat) everything tasted fresh and nice hot temperature. This is the best crab dip I've had--and I've ordered crab dip at about five different restaurants in the outer banks. The fish in the sandwich was hard, tasted like swordfish, and the salt and vinegar fries are a must-try. Restaurant is first come first serve during the summer. Luckily we came at a good time and were seated immediately. We were placed right by the window with a beautiful view of the sound. Our server was exceptional. She continually checked in on us and made great recommendations. We ordered the chef's speciality board and we are glad we did. The board had small servings of multiple different appetizers and entrees, all of which were fantastic. The "Go-Gho" cauliflower being my favorite. The NC Coast oysters were beloved by my wife (who historically hates oysters). This restaurant is definitely one of our favorites in OBX and we will return year after year. read more

Arrived fairly early for dinner with hopes for outdoor seating but our group preferred the immediate availability of an indoor option. The warm and welcoming staff seated us instantly.
