TLDR: yummy food and good service. Got there early so no wait! First time here since new owners and renovations. The inside is plain, it used to be a kitschy place that felt warm. Now it's blank walls and beige. So not loving the renovation. Outside looks great though. Know it is a small place and gets busy so there will be a wait at normal dinner time during the season! The server (Hannah) was very good. Friendly and attentive, but not overly. Seven of us with separate checks and she got everything right with a smile on her face. The food was yummy! I started with the warm mushroom salad - glad that was kept on the menu! The vinaigrette is soooo good! Then I had clams linguine, which had good flavor and was pretty. I was excited to try out the Roadside Bar and Grill after checking out the various restaurants available in duck. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sit outside, but there are only a few tables outside that overlook the street. We ended up sitting in a booth next to the kitchen, that was both interesting and a touch annoying. It was pretty cool to see all the food come out and see what people were ordering. Overall the food items we all ordered were quite good, but our service was just so so. I'm sure business is very bumping on a Saturday evening but I feel it could've been a little better. I'd recommend checking out the Roadside Bar and Grill as it is one of the few good options in duck. read more

Absolutely fantastic!!! It was a birthday lunch and I chose Roadside because I've never been and I'm local. We arrived at 12, and walked right in. The owner/chef walked us in, very friendly. We picked a booth, atmosphere absolutely fitting, it was both warm and fun. Our waiter was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Great menu with something for everyone. I had a cranberry and vodka, good! We all got salads, I got the Roadside salad and a tomato pie. Just wow....the tomato pie was amazing, I brought most home, but because of just that I'd go back, a must try for sure. The seafood pasta's, were unfortunately quite bland. The seafood portions were nice though which is usually a rare find. The noodles tasted like they were boiled in water without salt sadly. Stopped by Roadside Bar for dinner with a group of friends. They have a covered outdoor seating area and an indoor seating area. We were quickly sat. Their menu is pretty limited and doesn't offer much variety in my opinion. I was able to try several dishes on the menu. Clam Chowder: This was pretty disappointing. It was served lukewarm and lacked any strong seafood flavor. Carolina Muddle: looking at this on the menu, I thought this would be solid. It was a pretty light Cajun flavor and needed more of a kick and spice. We added hot sauce afterwards which made it a little better. This was just okay. The clams tasted off to me. It was definitely a muddle. I had a bite of the duck and that was by far the most decent dish on the menu. My friend ordered it well done and it was still tender. This was a pretty average and disappointing meal. Everything tasted under seasoned and mid. For the price point, I expected much better in taste and amount of food. read more

This place was not our first choice, but it ended up being great. All the food spots in Duck fill up quickly, and we found ourselves walking around looking for a decent spot to get a drink and some lunch on a rainy morning. We had an absolutely delicious plate of fresh shrimp. The shrimp were large and delicious. So fresh! My husband got a fish sandwich which hit the spot and my fish tacos were delicious. Seafood was in abundance at this dinner. Favorite dishes were the Carolina Muddle and Clam Chowder. Chowder was so good that we had to get a bowl to go. Service was good. I remember liking this more in the past. On my most recent visit I am sorry to say I was sorely disappointed. As others have noted the food takes soo long. I don't know if it takes longer if seated outside? The other two times I sat inside and the service was pretty fast; this time we were outside and all the tables seemed to be waiting forever for their food. The food was okay - I got the pad Thai with shrimp and the noodles were way too sweet. I noticed a lot of crossover between dishes, for example the slaw on my dining companion's fish tacos is the same slaw they use for the tuna sashimi. The aioli on the fish tacos tasted and looked like tzatziki, so I'm sure that was re-purposed as well. The fish and shrimp were good though. All in all just okay! read more

Came here to enjoy Roadside's outdoor area for some music and good vibes when Coastal Cravings was too packed for our liking. It's a little off the beaten path which meant we had the place mostly to ourselves. Similar to Coastal Cravings, this spot has ample outdoor space, games, hula hoops and more for kids to run around with and enjoy. It also has a full bar with a focus on beer, cider and hard seltzer options. Service is swift and prices are decent. I will say that seating options here are a little less comfortable than what you find at Coastal Cravings. Out of every outdoor spot we visited on our trip here this was the place that I got bit up the most by bugs, so make sure you pack your bug spray if you're planning to spend time here. read more

Excellent service and good food. Right on the main drag in Duck. We enjoyed a lovely dinner in the main restaurant of Tomato pie with greens, salad and the Vegan Thai entree. All 3 were delicious and perfect servings. Everything was so good, we returned to enjoy the back bar for Mark's Bingo. They have a really cool outdoor bar that has a great seating set up and a full bar. Limited menu outback but you can order from the regular restaurant menu too. This is a very eclectic little place with lots of locals. The menu is small but has a variety of choices. We sat with a view of the kit he and it was good to see how well their system worked and they worked together. The little neck clams were one of the best I've had and bring from New England I've had lots. The jambalaya was delicious and had a good amount of seafood in it. I was not to thrilled with the beef short ribs. They were very tender and fall apart. I just was thrilled with the fatty ness of them. Salads were all delicious and fresh. Definitely would come back.
