In a world where DMV dates are harder to find than anything else lately- this is a great walk-in location! I was told to wait for a text on my phone outside in the parking lot. Never happened and I missed my turn as a result. They recognized that and provided me with another opportunity 60 mins later. Staff works hard and is great- just keep a close eye on the counter screen even if they tell you to wait outside for a text because the electronic system is not always functional. read more

I can't believe it, a 5 star rating for a DMV, the world is ending. I came here to get a couple of placards for my car. I will say that it only took me a minute to check in, then I waited less than 10 minutes to be seen. The staff was really nice and friendly. Fast moving and curtious, agents our fami of six we in and out without any issues, we had 7:00am appointments and we were admitted right at 7:00 am and we all received our new NC drivers licenses in less than a week. The key is to bring all required documentation. read more

A really easy process and the folks working here are professional and keep the process moving. As a warning though, if you are a resident of another state getting a NC liscense, the creditials online are completely outdated and wrong. To get a NC liscense, you need your SSN card (and it cannot be on another government document like a tax return), your car insurance, proof of residency, drivers liscence from the state you are moving, and valid passport if you are missing your ssn card. Also, they have no appointments online right now at any location in North Carolina. So it is walk-in only and they serve walk-ins from 12-5 PM on weekday afternoons. Be sure to get there before 12 because the line gets long quickly and it will be impossible to do a walk-in later in the afternoon. Overall, the NC system is awful. Its outdated and clearly needs a revamp. NC needs to look to states such as CO to see how to make their system more efficient. The people that work here clearly work their tails off and deserve the recognition of working diligently while burdened by a god-awful system. read more

moved to NC and needed to transfer my license. i arrived at 7am and was done by 8:30. reviews said the people are rude but honestly they are just doing their jobs. they won't let you inside to check in without the proper paperwork. i don't see the problem with that. the lady came out multiple times telling people to have their papers out and ready and if they didn't have all information you wouldn't been seen. i read online what documents were needed to swap my license and came prepared. i appreciate them not wasting time with unprepared people. read more

They treat you like you're a piece of garbage! Applying for a driver's license for the first time is the worst. At 7 a.m., I was outside waiting in a long line. I finally got in at 11 a.m. and then waited inside for three hours. When I passed my computer test, the agent who helped me told me I had to come back another day because it was too late to take my driver's test. read more

The whole state of NC is a joke and needs to open up the DMV by 5 a.m. 7 days a week until this mess is caught up. I arrived at 5 a.m. to get in line and was 35th in line. By the time they opened there was 250 people in line stretched all the way down the shopping center parking lot. The lady checking paper work with short pink hair was probably the meanest person i've ever met in my life. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I simply have to leave a review and beg you not to come here. I am new to NC and had to get an NC license. I looked for weeks for an online apptment and there are none in the state so I decide to walk in. I waited (not kidding) 3.5 hours (i timed it) just to get in. Bless the woman who helped me get the actual license, she was nice, all other staff were so. SO. rude. They wouldn't let me in the door without the right paperwork, I tell the guy i have it but need a second to find it in my folder, and he tells me you either have it ready or get in the back of the line!!! The line is like 60 people long, and I had my docs, HEXK NO i'm not going to the back. They were combative with multiple other people, at one point making an announcement no more tickets would be given till they worked thru the ones they had. Someone came in AFTER the announcement asking for a ticket, and the woman catches a major attitude even though they weren't inside the building to hear the announcement and yells at them that she's announced it loudly numerous times and will NOT give them a ticket!!!! Really rude staff. Lady employee caught attitude with me for no reason. I was just sitting down cause other lady told me to go to station 1 and sit/wait, while we wait for an insurance issue to be resolved. Then this lady comes and tries pulling the seat from under me and says get up I need this seat. Was like no, I was told to sit here. Then she goes back to her front check in desk and says something under her breath so I yelled out what did you say? Mind you I never spoke to or dealt with this lady beforehand. This is the worst impress for a new driver! The staff is rude, not helpful what so ever, and seems to hate their job. NC makes it impossible for citizens to do the right thing! They make everything more difficult than it needs to be! Our youth should not have to have this as their first experience in the driving process! The young people are already nervous. The lady on #20 had a very very poor attitude before I even was able to speak. She got smart when I simply told her I needed a new plate. She interrupted me and she said I had to get a "better bill of sale" in which i provided legal documents. She shouldn't be at her job bc she has very very poor customer service skills and she doesn't know how to talk to people. I'm filing a complaint against her and I'm requesting to speak to her supervisor. She doesn't have respect at all and just bc my family and I are white, she made a racial comment saying I was pale bc my skin and face is very flushed ,I cannot help the color of my skin and I'm not racist but she made me feel very uncomfortable and I'm gonna leave her supervisor a message.*now we came back and the last lady on 20 is refusing to give us service bc she said we were rude, and from the very start she was cocky and smart to my mother. They said we needed a "better bill of sale" and we went back to the moped dealer and he wrote up a new bill of sale where the incompetent lady could read it. So now they refused our service and they're taking care of me now. This time a white lady named Rebecca is doing our transfer w no issues. The original lady was very disrespectful and racist. I'm calling her supervisor now and I'm filing a complaint against the lady at 20. She has some issues but she's gonna have more issues when she loses her job. The staff here is VERY RUDE with a attitude from HELL. No one in there had a welcoming attitude. I took my written test and passed. Next went to take my drivers test. My instructor who was a lady (lightskin, heavy set lady with red braids, and glasses) had a mean attitude! As we got in my car start driving 5 minute down the road she makes me pull over. Tells me I didn't passed or fail because she got a whiff of a very strong smoke smell. We both got a whiff of smoke while passing a bus stop because all my windows are down. She instantly assumed it was coming from me or my father who is 77 years old. Told me it could have been somebody we passed but she instantly told me I had to retake my drivers test because she got a whiff of smoke. She didn't smell anything when she first got in my car but as soon as we start driving down the road passing a BUS STOP she smelled it. Don't know her name but I'm reporting her for sure! If you don't have patience or customer service please stop applying for these types of jobs because all of there staff is unprofessional. read more
