Just got a manicure and pedi polish change here. I'm visiting from Cleveland, Ohio and staying on Oak Island and saw this place driving back from shopping in Southport. NC Nail Spa just opened last week, but you can tell they've been in the business for a while. Kim (who owns the place with her husband) did my gel mani/acrylic overlay fill as well as pedi polish change & did a perfect job. Everyone working here is also super friendly and helpful. They gave me a free drink (they have soft drinks and water). And there are tons of colors, both regular and gel to choose from. I love this place and would make it my regular spot if I lived in North Carolina. And this is coming from someone who's had lots of manicures and pedicures. She overcharged me for a fill and cut me. They have poor workers, and they don't know what they are doing. She took one of my nails off because it was shorter than the rest of them, and I asked her to just shorten the rest so she didn't have to take it off. Then she took it off and made it extremely long. I had to go home and fix them. One of my nails is crooked, and the inside of the place was very rundown. They did have any music on the vibe was just very off. I took my daughter here for pedicures on a recent trip to the beach. The lady that did my pedicure was very nice, but did not at all understand when I kept telling her I'm a TYPE 1 DIABETIC and she was hurting me. I firmly believe the callous remover stuff she put on my feet burned my skin. My daughter's polish in the first photo just came off for no reason. The photo of my feet at the end of all this, you can see how red around my big toe it was. Within a day, my toenail completely came off, I've been to the doctor about it once already and have to be very careful about infections. I've left THREE MESSAGES for the shop owner and no one will call me back. THESE PHOTOS ARE PRETTY EMBARRASING, but I've been having to put bandaids on all these places to keep from getting infections. I can't wear flip-flops anymore, that's for sure!!! Besides the feet, the lady then talked us into getting our eyebrows waxed. All the while my sugar was TANKING and I kept telling her we have to leave or it's going to be an emergency. She then FORCEFULLY waxed my LIP after I told her I don't have hair on my lip. Made me turn over for a "massage" while she climbed on the bed with me. It was HILARIOUS at the time, but also very scary. We just wanted to get out of there. $230 later, I had to pay for the waxing I didn't want, and for the BUTCHER of my poor feet. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Please be careful at this place. The menu for services states on price and once they perform the service you will get charged more. I went in for a basic regular pedicure. It was $35. I had them use regular nail polish French manicure which they put white on there and one coat of clear and by the time it was over, I said so it's $35 and the owner said no we charge five dollars to paint your nails what a rip off read more

My friend and I made 2 pedicure appointments for 9am but they didn't get to us until 9:45am. We did the basic pedicure which was $30 (a little overpriced I feel for a basic). Our nail tech was really nice though and did a good job with the pedicure itself. Quick but again, just a basic so took less than 30min for each pedicure. read more

Really needed my nails done today a lot of people recommend House of nails so I went but apparently you need an appointment and couldn't just walk in. So I came to NC nail spa and I was helped immediately! I got a great mani with gel and pedi ! My mom and I went in for manicure and pedicure and were impressed with the results. The employees were welcoming and took the time to make sure everything was just right. First and only visit. I requested gel nail polish, no manicure. I requested she cut my nails, leading to her cutting my finger. She was in such a hurry to get to others she rushed through the appointment. My thumb isn't completely painted and I had to file a couple when I arrived home, as they continued to snag on my clothing. It was not a pleasant experience at all. I had a very good dip manicure, however three things: 1) I had an appointment and still waited for about 15-20 minutes 2) when I called to make the appointment, I was told the price was $55 (which is higher than many area salons) and 3) when I paid, I was charged an additional $5 to remove by dip color already on my nails. I have never paid extra to remove the dip already on my nails, would be nice to know that change up front. Despite the quality of the manicure, I probably won't return. read more

When we arrived, we had set up an appointment and still waited around 20 minutes before being served (2 of us). I'm happy with my nails overall, but they cost $80 for SNS with chrome. $60 is slightly pricey in general, but I would have done it. The problem wasn't that. The problem was that I wasn't made aware of the $20 up charge until I was paying. There was nothing to do about it at that point. The price was high, but I'm overall unhappy about the lack of disclosure until payment. read more

One of the best experiences I've had at a nail salon. They got us in quickly and we're extremely kind to both myself and my young daughter (5 y/o). They had a very expansive variety of colors and were thorough and clean. The massage chairs were exceptionally therapeutic as well! Found this great little nail place after my current one became too popular from the new neighborhoods being built in the area. It's clean, the staff are friendly, and the wait was not too obnoxious. This day was just a pedicure and brow wax, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and it wasn't so overly full of other patrons waiting their turn. A relaxing visit. The tech was an older gentleman, he was thorough and worked quickly without feeling rushed. I think I've found my new mani/pedi place. They also offer acrylic and gel nails. read more

I have been there a couple other times, mostly to get my eyebrows done like I did this time but unlike the other times this time it was horrible. The wax was way to hot and we left out of there for it to continue to get red and more puffy. I've had my eyebrows waxed for awhile now so no this isnt like I'm mistaken this. It gets a little red but goes away, not the opposite to get swollen and more red along with little blisters all around my eyebrows!! wish I could post photos so I'm begging you guys go somewhere else for waxing needs read more

I absolutely love NC Nail Spa! They are beyond accommodating, professional, clean & sanitary, and courteous. I don't know how they do it. They have appointments as well as quickly and efficiently servicing walk-ins. Not only was I a walk-in this particular day, but I wanted to wait for my favorite nail tech, and they spoiled me with allowing me to sit in the pedicure chair and have a massage while I waited. Emily bends over backwards for every client she has-they all are so very kind, and they want to make sure you're happy with your experience, nails, and/or whatever service they provide. Absolutely terrible! I went here and showed the man a picture and I picked out a beige color and a gold glitter. He just did acrylic with no color at all on top and said I was done for $50. To top it off he put one coat of clear on my right hand but not my left. I told him to please fix them and he refused. I was upset and cried the way home due to the fact that I saved up for this and now I have no way of fixing this crap! Great place! Staff is friendly and know what they're doing. Emily and Kim are my favorite. Facilities are always clean. A couple of pointers for people who come from out of town 1. You're at the beach. Don't expect any polish (from anywhere!) to last as long as it normally would with all the sand and saltwater. Even if you don't go in the ocean, you're likely to be barefoot/ toes exposed more than normal. This all equals more wear and tear. 2. Speak up if you're dissatisfied BEFORE you leave. They will fix it. Ask to speak to Kim or Emily before leaving. Even better say something as soon as you see it. Don't let them do all 10 nails the wrong way when you notice the wrong shape or color on the 1st or 2nd nail. They aren't scary people and won't hurt you if you speak up. 3. Smile and greet them when you walk in and before you ask if they can fit you in. A quick, "hey" and a smile go a long way before saying, "I need a mani pedi." 4. Don't be mad if they are packed or say they are too busy. Call for an appointment but also realize they may have a full appointment schedule too. 5. Enjoy! read more

My pedicure massage was AMAZING!! And I'd have given them 5 stars if my shellac lasted more than 4 days. I just got back home (got my nails done on Monday of our vacation) and lost the first on Thursday. I normally feel good about going to this nail salon.I made an appointment to go in at 5:30pm today. However today was a different experience. I was taken in at 5:30 however I was going out the door by 6:06. I couldn't of been rushed through any faster as if I was going through a car wash. My nails are uneven and I have a bunch of rough edges. Four ladies came in to get pedicures. They were all ask if they wanted red or white. I was not sure what they were talking about what it was colors or what. Come to find out they were bringing out glasses of wine. I really didn't think I saw a liquor license on the wall for them to serve alcohol. I came out even leaving a tip. I feel like this will be my last trip as many nail salons as there around this area. I'll start by saying that everyone that works there is very nice and they did the right thing by re-doing my nails when I wasn't happy with the first attempt. However, I went for the first time and asked for SNS. I chose a color from their selections and went through the process. As the process was nearing the finish, I noticed that the color was blotchy and inconsistent. It was downright hideous! When I complained they did not initially seem responsive. They tried to assure me that is how SNS looked. I've had it done numerous times and have NEVER had a problem. Then they blamed the product. If it is an inferior product, why carry it in your salon? Since it was near closing time and I had already been there awhile, I asked them to put a gel polish on - the same color used for my pedicure. It was much darker than I normally use on my fingernails. I was not thrilled by that option. I had already paid and they said if I didn't like it to come back and they would fix it. Well, as you might imagine, I was back a few days later. They removed the gel then soaked my nails to remove the SNS nails. I decided to go with what I thought was a safe option - pink & white. The girl that worked on my nails this time insisted on doing SNS, adding white tips and dipping my fingers in "pink" and "white" to get the desired look. From a distance they look okay, but if you really look at them, the tips are thicker than the rest of the nail and the nail bed is not at all smooth. They are bumpy instead of smooth and mis-shaped. Not at all happy with the results or the ability of the two different nail technicians that did my nails. The positive thing is, they did not charge me to re-do them but two fails means I will not be back. They are probably fine with acrylic or just ordinary manicures but they need a lot more practice on SNS. If you want a professional look with SNS, you won't get it here! read more

This used to be my go-to nail salon for both gel manicures and pedicures. There has been a change of ownership in August, and Emily and Kim are gone. I had a new person who did my gel manicure, which was okay at first, but when time came to take off...they couldn't do it without damaging my nails. Then, when I asked for just a regular manicure, it was a mess. I don't think that the tech. can see very well; her glasses were quite dirty. The man completely ignored my request and gave me these horrible SQUARE nails which is no where near what I wanted. My sister, mom & I tried this place out and we were very happy with the service. We all got the jelly pedicure which is a great experience and makes your feet feel nice. The staff is very nice and greets everyone as soon as they walk in the door. They are extremely attentive and listens to your needs. They explain what they're doing and are knowledgeable. Andy gave me the BEST gel manicure I've ever had! His attention to detail was SO appreciated! The pedicure was great, too, and the leg/foot massage was incredible. I was traveling afterwards and my nails were getting long but I held out until I got home bc I wanted to wait until I could go here again. My nails held up well for 3.5 weeks! My second visit to Andy was for a gel manicure only and equally as impressive as the first. They honor appointment times as I never had to wait but they welcome walk ins too. i came in for a set of acrylics and pedicure for prom. i've heard great reviews about this place but sis let me tell you somethin. my nail lady was RUUUUDE as hell. she yanked at my arms to make me hold still she stuck the drill file in my sweater sleeve and pulled out the strings from it. my nails were supposed to be coffin shaped and half of them looked like an oval and when i asked for them to be fixed she told to "be patient i'll get to it eventually" then never fixed it. so before i left i asked for another lady to fixed the oval looking nail and she filed them till they were distorted. plus my toe nail polish started falling off 3HOURS LATER. absolutely ridiculous worst nail experience ever. this ain't it chief. read more
