I love this facility. i highly recommend, especially for their child care services. it is 10/10, the girls and Sabrina are amazing with my kids and my schedule, my kids love it here, they offer parents night out, the list goes on and on. i wouldn't go anywhere else because of their child care service. besides that facility is great, clean, and staff here is friendly. equipment I feel is up to date and multiple/variety of it as well. read more

This is one of the Greatest Healthcare clubs,I've ever worked out at. For those of you who know me I was a world class. Athlete most of my life! But you realize you need to fine tune your life and get the expert advice from experts of kinesiology and Exercise physiology and Human movement. Yes grant you I squared over 1075 pounds at a bodyweight of 208 lbs ,But I've never considered myself an expert .I drove past this place so many times ,and said to myself I'll bet this place has just what I need .We'll little did I know that a few months later I'd be working out there . It's really changed my life. For the better ! Don't second guess ,what to do ! I've been very lucky not to have a injury from exercising but I'm wise enough to know that I need expert assistance now . You owe it to your self to consider exercising here. But please ,talk to your doctor and a cardiologist. And centrally make an appointment with a exercise physiologist to help with a personalized exercise prescription!. "The only way is the right way! I love the Wellness Center, medfit was a great jump start and I had a great trainer in Nick! Unfortunately I won't be able to extend my membership right now due to the price however I sure hope to in the future!! Working the machines then working on the pool has been fantastic! read more

I LOVE this place! I came here as part of MedFit and joined as soon as that was over. There is plenty of equipment and it appears to have been replaced in the last month. I never have trouble accessing what I need to. The classrooms are roomy and they offer a generous group of classes. I primarily use the warm water pool and it's always clean and very comfortable. So maybe the locker rooms could be updated, but frankly they're just fine for the price I'm paying. My experience is that it's priced about the same as the YMCA and so much better for my needs. There's also a better than average chance that medical staff will be there if there was an emergency. Keep up the good work! read more

Went to the indoor lap pool today and again we encountered a group of senior women Just standing in the lap lane socializing. Management needs to do something about this but complaints seem to be following on deaf ears. I may need to change clubs again. read more

Absolute joke of a place. They tell you one thing and do another. If you are disabled, hence why you are probably going there, DON'T BOTHER. Believe it or not they will not under any circumstance help you get to aqua therapy if you are disabled. Isn't there a law, Ada maybe could help, against that. I have had 748 physical therapy visits and have been told I need 7 more, 3 aqua and 4 land. Just figure out on your own how to get there. What a joke. Only good thing I guess is someone making money and working during covid. read more

I really appreciate this place. It is extremely comforting knowing medical staff are on site if there is a medical emergency. Newly remdeled. UPDATE WITH COMPLAINT: Although this place still has much to offer, a problem has arisen if you are a lap swimmer, so beware. Pool aerobic classes are scheduled each morning in the lap pool - which is okay because you can schedule your swim around the classes. However, recently it has become the practice of some participants to remain in the pool to simply socialize for as much as an hour after the class while we lap swimmers sit and wait. I have politely mentioned this to the offenders and the front desk, but so far no progress. Perhaps the class instructor can ask the participants to please exit the pool unless they intend to continue exercising but not for socializing. This problem is starting to spill over into people sitting on pieces of exercise equipment but to socialize not exercise it has become bad enough that my wife and I are thinking about terminating our membership. Hopefully your facility manager will address this. We would like to remain members. read more

I fell and broke my clavicle in June. When it wouldn't heal, I had surgery in November. After the surgery, I went to the Wellness Center for physical therapy. Only 4 sessions and my range of motion improves so much the doctor said today that we are done! Emily, David, Kimberly and Bradley are fantastic! Skilled and caring. I definitely recommend NCH Wellness Center for physical therapy. read more

Super clean. Many group fitness classes. Easily accessible. Small lap pool. Warm therapy pool. Sauna. Plenty o' cardio equipment. Nice selection of weights and machines. Basketball court. Moderate sized indoor track. Free child care up to 2 hrs. Easy parking. Nice locker room. Friendly staff. And there's even a spa with decent services and frequent deals! Yeah, NCH Wellness Center fills the void of many things athletically related. Plus, for $124 for a family of two adults, this seems like a pretty solid deal. So, if you're in AH, you can't really use up too many "Idon'twannaworkout" excuses, because the Wellness Center has something to cure those ails. It's worth noting that you will often see an older demographic working out here, intermixed with rehab patients. It doesn't bother me one bit as I prefer to get in, do my workout and get out, vs. experience chat away for social hour. Some things that make my wish list for NCH Wellness Center: Updated classes with more cardio conditioning and athletic training, access to kettlebells and more advanced yoga options. read more

In fact, every staff member is outstanding- friendly and professional. Your aqua therapy warm water pool continues to help me avoid spinal surgery. You offer an excellent selection of fitness classes. Your Spa is lovely, tranquil and overflowing with talented practitioners. But this review is dedicated to a very special teacher. Bobbie A. teaches the Warm Water Tai Chi classes. She has had extensive training with the founder of this gentle Tai Chi, Dr. Lam. But what really makes her unique is her kind and caring manner. Her calming voice and soothing approach make for a tranquil and serene atmosphere. There are many benefits to Tai Chi, but I believe that it is the instructor who will dictate your own personal enrichment. Bobbie has a gift and she is willing to share. New administrative staff is cutting classes and firing the best, most caring and kind yoga instructors that I have ever taken classes with. What a lost to the club and to it's members. Many people become members here for the yoga classes offered . The Zumba program too, which use to be packed full on Wednesday nights , when excellent instructors like Allison, and Jill were there ,has trickled down to nothing, and have been cancelled. Also the cancellation of two very popular PIYO classes. Very disappointed. I have been a member for 4 years and I feel that my membership will not be renewed . I will try out somewhere else that actually cares about their clients and their employees. read more

This place is definitely NOT closed. I'm a big fan of the Wellness Center. The staff is extremely friendly, the locker rooms are immaculate and well appointed, and the cardio and weight area is probably one of the nicest I've been in. The entire room feels airy and spacious, and has floor to ceiling windows all around. My only gripe is that since I no longer live near the gym, I only go to it when I visit my parents, and their daily rate is extremely high ($20). Generally I get the much better priced weekly membership ($50 for 1, $75 for 2). Because the center is attached and affiliated with Northwest Community Hospital, the clientel tends to be older, which doesn't bother me at all. I have a feeling since a good deal of physical therapy goes on here, the machines are top notch and generally well kept. Some of the weight machines seem to have a few miles on them, but nothing that's in desperate need of replacement. All in all, if you have the money, I'd recommend signing up. You certainly get what you pay for. read more

The Wellness Center has some great thing and some not so great things. It is a clean facility and there are some talented people on staff for sure who I really value. It has fairly decent equipment, not exceptional, nice windows, amenities, and sitting areas, although the basketball court is right smack dab in the middle of the gym so all the equipment is crammed to the sides, but at least it has a court! It isn't the place to join if you are after the most cutting edge fitness classes. You won't find a barre class, core fusion, hip hop, or acro yoga! On the other hand there is a general feeling of not valuing its members and charging as much for things like specialty classes (not all classes are included with membership), guest passes, pilates, some equipment and a fairly high membership price even though they offer less than many area facilities. Honestly, it just seems their marketing just isn't in touch with their customers...It is the fitness staff that make it a positive experience, not the sales people. A wide variety of people of all shapes and sizes wtih various fitness goals to those in rehab to high school kids playing basketball to elderly use the facility. The rehab facilities and aqua therapy seem to be very well run and have excellent facilities. Compared to other facilities in the north and northwest suburbs and Chicago, the pilates and yoga classes aren't as great as they could be which is sad since they could establish themselves as a leader in that area. The pilates equipment consists of only reformers, and matt equipment, no cadillacs, arcs, chairs, or barrels , even though the price is the same as studios that have that equipment. The teacher who runs the facility is amazing though! Her name is Karolina and she is incredibly knowledgeable and has a mindful approach, as is Shane. They both are always coin more training so they are up on the newest techniques. The majority of the yoga classes are taught more from a fitness philosophy and are only 45-60 minutes with little emphasis on the lineage of yoga or overall philosophy of yoga. read more

The classes are always cancelled, the child care is full unless you call them a day ahead or so. The staff in the child care does not interact with your child. They have an art room that is always closed for the kids. I put my membership on hold and thought they would assumed that I would not be returning. I had to change my credit card because it was stolen, and six months later they called me from an audit and they told me that I owed them $600.00 for not canceling my membership per the contract. I am very upset and frustrated with this facility. read more

Caution! This place is predatory on seniors! My 85 yr old father was a member. Good for him, trying to stay healthy. He fell in November breaking his ribs ( not at their facility) so I notified Nch wellness he wouldn't be returning. They nicely said we will take care of it. What they did was put it on 6 mos hold. In June I noticed monthly charges reappearing on his credit card statement. I immediately protested and was told we had to complete cancellation paperwork. I had to supply copies of POA ( or bring him in which was not possible given his current health). Major hurdle. I Did this and asked if they would reverse June charges since he hadn't been in the facility for almost 9 mos. Instead they charged us for July as well. " per the contract". I bet they bank on a certain amount of income without having to provide services. It's soooo easy to sign up but my gosh, don't think of cancelling! The hoops are enormous. If I weren't looking out for my dad they would just collect automatically. I can't imagine my dad successfully cancelling on his own. read more

Convienent location if you live in south AH, but the staff isn't friendly or helpful. You also can't workout in the group class or spin rooms if there isn't a class, which leaves the basketball court for circuits, abs and lunges etc when there isn't a full court basketball game. Trainers also take up a lot of space even though theres a designated area for them and their clients. Constantly crowded, no one cleans equipment or mats after use, and its overpriced. This place isn't closed. Being at the wellness center is a holistic experience. You are greeted by friendly staff, the place smells like a spa, is really clean, and has alot of free amenities. Here are some of the little things I appreciate about this place that I haven't found at other gyms: Kleenex near the running track (lets face it running makes your nose drip) Fitness machines aren't broken towel service for both large and small sized towels the steam room smells like eucalyptus instead of mold complimentary razors, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shave cream, lotion, mouthwash, and hair dryers Showers have a changing station with bench attached to them to reduce public nudity complimentary phone and water coolers with mini cups tvs on fitness equipment A hot tub, a lap pool, and a warm therapy pool Nice big complimentary lockers during your visit and you don't need to bring your own lock to use them! They give you a key. ALOT of fitness classes at no extra charge throughout the day gives me no excuse to skip a day the classes are actually challenging, way better than those I've taken at Bally's and there is enough room to spread out so I can have a full range of motion without hitting someone else No time limit on machines I can't wait to have kids one day so I can utllize their complimentary day care while Mommy does aerobics. This place is the best gym I've joined- way better than X-Sport, Park Districts or Bally's. The only draw backs... This place is very pricey. I could see someone with a 9-5 schedule having a hard to going to a class that was right before or after work if they worked nearby without having so wait time in between. I have been a member here for over (7) plus years. The overall property used to be managed much better in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail. The last few years I have notice that the Men's lockers never get wiped out and sanitized and cleaned up. When folks enter the facility with street shows from rain and snow, this can really make the lockers extremely dirty. They are also very slow to replace cheaper items like workout mats that a filthy with sweat from months of use. Lastly, they clean the Pool, Warm Water Therapy Pool and Hot Tub about once or twice per year. The scum on the side walls of the Hot Tub over the last few months prior to the December 26th - January 4th closure for cleaning has been nothing less than just gross. On the weekend's you have to ask yourself, how hard is it to get a few drops of defaming agent into the Hot Tub??? Well apparently at this facility and at almost $90 bucks per month for single full price membership, it's too much to ask. The good news for Northwest Community Hospital is that there is really no competition in the Arlington Heights area to force a little competitive activity for their client base. If the Health Club has issues like this, it makes you wonder how well the actual Hospital is maintained. If they would just clean up, it would really make a difference! read more

GREAT place!! Friendly staff, lots of things to do (not just running machines), huge pool, spa, small shop, located right next to the PT area and on the same property as the hospital. I was a member two years ago but let my membership expire. Just joined again and am so excited to get back over there and really use the gym to my benefit! Being under 23 I save money too. This review is for prenatal yoga with Beth. I am not a member of the wellness center because of cost. The place is gorgeous but out of my budget. However, prenatal yoga at non member price is totally affordable at $12 per class. Beth is wonderful - you can tell she loves teaching the class and cares about each participant. She gives you a workout, helps maintain your flexibility and teaches many breathing exercises. Doesn't matter if this is your first yoga class ever or if you are a pro or if you are first trimester or 40 weeks along - something for everyone! I'm almost at the end of my pregnancy and will miss my weekly prenatal yoga with Beth for sure. read more

I was a member at the Wellness center for 17 months. In the beginning, I greatly enjoyed the opportunity to hop on the elliptical and take a shower in a clean locker room while my child was well-taken care of by the Kid's Club staff. However, as I became more interested in strength training and less in cardio machines, I learned that the wellness center caters much more to cardio machines and aerobics classes (which are nice, if that is what you want). There was always a wait for things like the bench press, the floor where you could do mat exercises was extremely overcrowded, and the free weigh area was always full. They proved their disinterest in strength training to their members recently by replacing all the cardio machines, but I did not see anything about them improving the weight area. We loved the Kid's Club at first. Over time though, the woman who ran the Kid's Club left and no one was hired to replace her. We noticed that as teachers in the Kid's Club began to leave, no one was hired to replace them either. Soon, people from the front desk were taking shifts watching children, so my shy child starting hating trips to the gym because she was going to meet an unfamiliar face each time. We decided to cancel our membership due to personal life changes, but I did try to give constructive feedback about the Kid's Club upon leaving. When I explained that it felt a little disheveled, the member's services representative told me "the point of the Kid's Club is to keep kids safe, not to be a daycare." So, in essence, just a place to make sure your child doesn't drown so you can exercise. Certainly not a place I want to drop off my child for an hour or two at a time. After leaving the gym, I discovered that the wellness center had fired all the kid's club staff and changed it to new management. It sounds like it is much better for the children now, but in the process they let go almost all of their employees there with extremely short notice. Another issue we had was with the wellness center offering an unbelievably good multi-month-membership groupon deal which lead to months of overcrowding. This offer was not extended to existing members, so we just had to put up with taking 10 minutes to find a parking spot and squeezing into exercise classes. Parking in general was always bad there, but it became out of control once the groupon was in effect. My final gripe about the Wellness Center is regarding their cancellation policy. I cancelled our membership and was told that it could not be prorated, so I would have to wait until August 1 for my membership cancellation to go through. If I had cancelled before July 15 (this was the 18th or so) it would have been able to go through. Either I misheard or the representative mispoke. Perhaps the idea of waiting a month and a half to wait for my cancellation to go through was just too absurd an idea for me to process, but when my charge went through as usual on August 1, the wellness center told me that I had to cancel before July 15 for it to cancel for August! So, not only was I not able to have my membership prorated from the day I cancelled, I had to wait until August 31 for it to end! That's almost a month an a half, so $180 of unwanted gym charges! I asked the member's services representative why it took so long and she said their are a lot of "mechanisms" behind direct debit memberships. I believe that this is just their way of hanging on to your money as long as possible. It's an unfair, ridiculous policy and you should definitely beware of this before joining the gym. read more

Pros- Clean, offers lots of options, kids club Cons- Never met a group of people that are so rude! From the front desk to the sales folks they are just down right rude, mean and not sales minded what so ever! I assume that driving new sales is just not that important to them and they just fill sales/customer service role with warm bodies....glad they are so financially stable! I wish things were different but they just ruin the whole experience and not worth joining. read more

All of the employees here are very courteous and helpful, from the front desk to the business office to the people who assist in the rehab process. The only down side are the people who sit in their cars waiting for up to 20 minutes to pick up people who are not ready thereby blocking access for the other people picking up and dropping off people. They should post signs limiting the standing to 5 minutes. This is not the Wellnes Center's fault but they may be able to correct this problem. all in all the place is GREAT. read more

If you're looking for cleanliness, this is the place! Very crowded locker rooms during prime time, lots of rehab patients, patients from the psych ward at the hospital, and seniors who do not pay membership dues but still use the facility. Parking is awful. Saw an elderly guy who was drinking in the sauna one night. Awesome... he was hammered. At least he got stopped and taken to the hospital. Lots of weird, very territorial older folks here. Get there early or late and you'll avoid them. The pool is shallow and filled with constant water aerobic classes so lap swimming is limited. Spin classes used to be awesome with Ironman triathlon racers leading the classes. Now, classes are just okay--overcrowded, boring instructors in general. The Masters Swimming team has had a resurgence. Many folks are going to US National Swimming Championships and they seem to be very encouraging to the newer people in the group. Seems that ALL swimmers - slow or fast - get the same treatment, encouragement and attention. That is very good. Team is diverse as well; young, old, fast, slow, swimmer, triathlete, fitness swimmer - all together. read more

This club is hindered by management and hospital bureaucrats. If you are a triathlete or masters swimmer, they will close the pool for "maintenance" during critical times of the year for your training with no regard for big races in the area. Masters Swimming program is good - but INSANELY OVERPRICED relative to other programs. Spin classes are more about "general fitness" and a hard core cyclist or triathlete will find it a waste of time. Gone are the days when their classes were lead by Ironman athletes and elite cyclists. What is good here? - clean, people are generally nice. read more

The swimming pool lap lanes are not regulation width. The pool is kept extremely warm for water aerobics classes. This makes it difficult to breathe when swimming laps. Members going to classes do not take showers. When the water aerobics classes start, if you are swimming laps, you can taste perfume and powder. read more

Unfortunately the management of the club is incompetent. They view both employees (which I was for over 15 years) and members as completely expendable. They refuse to listen to the staff and members' feedback and opinions, especially when it comes to matters of fees or pay. They want to charge premium fees for classes, yet won't compensate the employees for the training programs that they require in order to charge the premium fees. My recommendation is to stay away. There are other places that will welcome you and not just your money. read more

I had joined the Wellness Center 60 days for $60 at my doctors suggestion. The personal trainer that was assigned to me did not have knowledge of the program and handed me a bill for $55 on the second day. I dropped that off at the office and was told this was not correct, which I knew already. When I called Jackie the fitness manager I was told that "trainers have a different language" and made inference that I must have misunderstood something. I thought that to be an excuse to justify the trainer (Beth) did not understand the program. I called Jackie and left her a message so I could get together and resolve this, to just get what I paid for and for them to have some integrity and do what they said they were going to do. She said she called me twice that I must have written the wrong phone number on the sheet, yeah right I do that all the time. I felt like they were very unprofessional and that I was just being lied to. Just to let you people know that I do not believe a bit of your bullshit. I don't think too much of the Wellness Center, reminds me of a bait and switch operation and it's really not very clean or upscale as I would have assumed it to be. Kathy Haerle read more
