Great little gym…read more Everyone has different workout routines and styles, so what you look for in a gym will be different from person to person. Here's the highlights to help you choose. It's a chain, but not a big one like XSport or Lifetime. So, if you want a big chain gym where you can travel and go to any gym this may not be for you. I know they have several locations but mostly in the Chicago Northwest suburbs. It's not very big, but they have a really good selection of machines and equipment. They don't have big locker rooms, hot tubs, pools, or exercise rooms for classes. I don't need any of that, so I'm glad they don't have it. The focus here is on working out. Even though the big gyms are probably double or triple the size of Fitness 19, they always seem so packed and you have to wait for the machine you want. Fitness 19 is good because you don't bump into people or have to wait a long time to get on the machine you want. With that said, I'll say this isn't a muscle head gym either. I used to work out at XSport, and there were always muscle heads that obviously took something to enhance their muscle growth. Good atmosphere. Everyone seems to be in a decent mood. Perhaps since it's a small gym there are a lot of people living around the area that go here. A lot of people seem to know each other and have a good time. Lastly, it's pretty reasonable for price. I believe I got started with a deal that was either $11 or $12 per month, but I paid for my year in full / advance, and got a further discount. You really can't beat the price and quality of this gym.

Over the pandemic, I had noticed random hives. I say, random, because I wasn't sure of the trigger. After a clear bill of health from my primary care physician and a bandaid fix of steroid creams from the dermatologist, I was determined to find the root cause and fix it. This is where Daniel and TBD came into the picture. With blood, stool, and urine tests that were easy to do at home (I'm in LA by the way), it was determined I had leaky gut, possible SIBO, and a body full of mycotoxins. I immediately jumped into the protocol Daniel prescribed which consisted of eliminating foods my body is extremely sensitive to and foods that have a potential for high mold/mycotoxin content. I'm halfway through my 3rd month of elimination and 2 months in to the supplement protocol to heal my gut and eliminate mycotoxins. I'm slowly healing and have experienced my eczema flare ups reduce and have noticed a decrease in the 'random hives'. I also hadn't realized I was pretty much bloated all the time prior to making these changes and just didn't know until I started this protocol. You start to just accept the uncomfortable until you know you can actually FEEL better. I'm looking forward to continuing the elimination diet and the supplement protocol.

This is my second CrossFit box since joining the evil empire, though I travel a great deal for work…read moreso I have dropped in on many. Justin is straight up the best CrossFit coach I have ever encountered. His knowledge base is off the charts and his patience for people like me that are still working to perfect movements is a breath of fresh air. You won't feel like an idiot if you have a higher than normal learning curve, and he knows how to push you without putting you into situations that can lead to injury. If you are a new person just starting CrossFit, you should consider yourself lucky to have him to teach you the ropes. The facility itself is friggin massive. The largest box I have ever been in and it is well organized and kept tidy. One of my principal issues with my old box was how cramped it could be with larger classes but that has never been an issue at Rise. Programming is offered 6 days a week and there is open gym and Yoga offered on Sunday. There are 3 types of classes offered including 'fitness' for beginners, 'performance' for intermediate levels, and 'competition' for the elite athletes. The programming at Rise is quite challenging and there is a much greater focus on weightlifting than my previous experience elsewhere. They do occasionally offer boot camp style classes that are basically CrossFit minus a barbell, but I would suggest to everyone to just get over this initial fear and take the normal classes. It won't be long and the barbell will feel like another appendage anyway. There is a small locker room for you to change and take a shower if you are hitting up the box before work, and the front desk offers the usual FitAid and similar products if you need a post workout pick me up. The community aspect CrossFit is noted for is alive and well at Rise. The last person finishing is just as important as the first one, and you can expect a degree of camaraderie and bonding among your classmates if you show up regularly. Overall, Rise is a great option for CrossFit for any skill level. I plan to keep coming as long as they will have me.

It ended up auto billing me for a second month. Took almost a month for her to fix and remove having my credit card information. Everyone's guilty of stasis in some aspect of their lives--getting used to how things are and putting up with less than the ideal. For a long time, I assumed that I'd never be able to truly lose the weight I'd gained, lost, and regained over the years. Worse yet, I assumed that getting older had to be accompanied by slowing down, having less energy, and dealing with aching joints and constant soreness. Don't let your life continue at less than its full capacity! At 43, I'm in the best shape I've ever been and continue to improve because of the nutritional counseling, group fitness classes, and personal training sessions offered at this studio. They've taught me the habits, mindsets, and skills to feel, look, and function at my best, for life. The staff treat one another and their clients like family, which--fair warning--means you will be held accountable to the goals that you've set for yourself because they care about you and want the best for you. "Care" can be expressed a lot of different ways, too--don't assume that you won't work well with a personal trainer because you've had a bad experience elsewhere. Whether you want a trainer with drive, calm, kindness, humor... however you'd characterize it, there is someone at Push with the personality and approach that's suited to you. The only people who shouldn't join Push Fitness are the ones who are satisfied on the slow track to fitness which, let's be honest, is a roller coaster at best and, more often, a slow retreat from the results you really want. I've been there--after losing significant amounts of weight four times over the last 16 years and regaining it every time (and then some), I've lost more than 40 pounds since joining Push just three months ago--almost 20% of my total body weight--while gaining muscle mass. This weight loss is different this time because I have the benefits of the Push team's expertise on my side. When you're ready to put in the work it takes to regain and optimize your health, and if you recognize that expert guidance will multiply the outcomes from the time it takes to do the work, join Push. No other investment is ever going to yield better returns than those you put into to your well-being, and their prices are quite reasonable considering the results you'll see in a very short time frame.
