My day started with a service failure at a local alterations shop just around the corner from our home in Charlotte, NC. We've been taking clothes there for over 8 years and two shop owners. Now, there's a new owner. It was immediately apparent customer service skills weren't in her wheelhouse. There was no attempt to build rapport, and I felt like a number from hello. A far cry from the previous owners who went out of their way to get to know us and called us by name. But, hey, this is a new owner. We should at least see what kind of job they do with my alterations. A poor job altering the pants... three days later than promised was one thing. When I shared my concern with the owner, her response was "sorry." She never offered a refund or suggested any form of compensation -- until I made the request. Had she demonstrated just a little more customer care we might still be doing business with her. In the end, she lost an 8-year loyal customer over a $30 mishandled alteration. We researched other local alteration shops and landed on one with 5-star customer reviews. We now take our business up the road about 5 miles away to a place called Ne-Villes Alterations. Ne-Villes doesn't disappoint. I shared with him, the owner and one-man show, that we drive by a dozen local alteration shops, 5-times farther, for his excellent service. He smiled and said, "I know if I don't deliver what you want, and a little more than you expect, you may take your business elsewhere. I want to eliminate the choice." And he has. I love supporting black businesses but this will be one that I'll never return to. He was very rude and not accommodating after he made two separate errors. First error, he did not complete all the discussed alternatives so I had to take my dress back to him. Second error, I return to pick up my dress on the agreed day, he had not even started on the dress let alone steam it as promised. I had to wait while he rushed to do the alteration. Then in his rushing to steam my dress, he spilled oil on my dress! He was not remorseful nor did he try to rectify the error to fit my timeline. I ended up arriving to my wedding rehearsal late having to wait on him to get my dress cleaned the next day. If you want a rude, unprofessional, mediocre experience then I would recommend this place. read more

Very dissatisfied with our most recent service especially for never having any issues until now. We brought in some expensive brand new white Levi's to be cuffed correctly at the ankles for the holidays. We brought the pants in clean as they were brand new and the owner even confirmed seeing no spots and once we receive the pants we see spots! Black spots on top of that. I told him these were for the holidays specifically and if we would've seen spots we would've gotten him to clean them too while he was fixing the cuffs. He has been no help after my husband came in this morning to try to get help. I called this afternoon after he turned my husband away and then he stated he could clean it tomorrow evening after we will already be traveling for the holidays. Total rip off and very unprofessional service from people we paid a lot of money to for services and they couldn't help with this small mistake they created. We will not be back. Place up the street will have it cleaned within a few hours so he is not here to provide empathetic customer service because he could've fixed the mistake before we left but he feels it's not his problem. read more

I wanted the neckline widened and the wrap detail secured on a dress. Just received the dress back and while the neckline is fine, the wrap detail is worse. It looks undone and the ruching is puckering and bunched up. There's also a large hole in the front of the dress. I can't even wear it anymore. I'm really upset. read more
