I have no idea how much clothes alterations are supposed to cost so I cannot comment on value. What I do know is that the people who work here are genuine people who are honest and reliable. I brought in a dress that I was struggling to fit into around the waist. The woman was straight with me that there wasn't much she could do there because there wasn't any extra fabric and due to the very structured nature of the bodice. Aka, I had to come to terms that I had gained weight and need to work out... thanks COVID. However, she confidently fitted the collar and hem for my petite frame. I wasn't in a rush but she gave me a reasonable date and it was perfectly ready for pick up. Tips: Be sure to bring your shoes that you'll wear with any dresses or pants. Amazing service! This shop is truly a master of their craft. I came in with a full lace dress that was constructed in a way that made it difficult to alter. I needed the waist taken in about 2-3 inches. After being turned away by an alteration shop in uptown due to not wanting to accept liability I found this shop who took on the task. So most people don't give alterations much thought, especially guys. But a spent a lot of money on new clothes after losing some weight and I have an odd inseam of 31. Guys either have to buy 30 or 32 and hope for the best or look poorly fit. I can see why SK has all 5 star reviews. I took my new pants in to have hemmed to 31 inseam and they are perfect. It only took a few days and it quite literally looks like they came from the factory. The hem is actually better and stronger than the factory. I'm extremely happy. I enjoyed working with these two ladies for my wedding dress (my dress was ordered in a 12, was sized down to about an 8 due to lace). Decent price compared to other places I wuoted. They even customized my bustle on my dress and gave it a cathedral look which was LOVELY. They even hid my dress from my now husband when he would come in to get his shirts altered! I also had my dress for my bridal shower altered here as well, which might I add was also A size too big. Was very impressed by the Yelp reviews that I wanted to give this business a try. I called prior to going in to see if they required appointments or if walk-ins were acceptable. I was taken aback as the initial conversation on the phone was rather short and rude, however, based on the reviews I was still eager to give them a try. I left disappointed. When you walk into the establishment there isn't so much as a greeting or sense of politeness. My quote for alterations on a simple unembellished bridesmaids dress, that slightly needed to be taken in on the side was just $10 under the cost of what I spent on the dress itself. I politely declined and the mother yanked the pins out and tossed my dress back. I would rather spend double on alterations elsewhere then give this business my money. These guys do good work. Took a pair of my Cole Haans in to get worked on because the heel fell off. It was $35 to replace both heels. They use Goodyear rubber soles. They did a good job blending the color. Can't even tell it's a brand new soul on a well worn pair of shoes. I liked the shoes enough to entrust them with a suit tailoring. The store is run by a mother and daughter team, and they did a wonderful job on my dress. The straps were taken up and the length was hemmed. They made sure I was satisfied with the alterations and had me try on the dress before I left. They have two changing rooms. I also forgot my shoes when I went to pick up the dress but they conveniently had shoes for me to wear while trying on the dress. Let me tell you a little story about my Frye boots. Years ago shopping at a vintage store in NYC my friend bought me a pair of gorgeous chestnut hue tall leather boots. They absolutely insanely beauty makes up for their discomfort and wooden soles with no support. After a few years of nasty wear and tear. These boots were looking rough. My friend recommended this shoe repair shop. After a week and $40.00 later, my boots looked better then they had when I got them! The entire soles were replaced with thick Carolina pine and the leather was polished. While I wouldn't pay 40 bucks to get many of my boots re-soled, this was well worth it. I go back to this mother/daughter team ALL the time for my patch work (yes, even on THICK leather jackets/vests). I dropped the ball ONE TIME and took a leather vest elsewhere and REGRETTED it immediately! It was WAAAY off/crooked (Stevie Wonder could've done a better job!)!
