(U/D: 033124. I went years ago when rents were affordable and we were all as regular as rain. Then I realized that this previously-written review is not fair to GK Dermatology. If the doctor I am writing to complain about has since vaporized into the internet ether of things and no longer works there, my apologies. I shouldn't have besmirched their name because of one bad apple. One bad, curdled, mushy AF, oxidized apple.) When I went to Dr. Kassab, it was because I was at the beginning of an existential scalp battle that would eventually leave scars to this day. (Emotional ones, mind you. The scalp med eventually worked out great!) Anyway, I was seated quickly (I would soon learn why*) and asked the nurse's bubbly assistant what the doctor's name was. She told me it was Dr. Kassab, the world famous skin doctor who took on any and all dermal threats from here to Bacteria, and she would be in shortly, and, like, oh my God, today is Tuesday! When Dr. Kassab entered the room, she was warm, and friendly, and genuinely charmed that a patient took the time to learn their name before visiting with them. After initial pleasantries, she looked at my scalp and prescribed Ketoconazole shampoo and a topical cream for my condition. She then left the room, saying something about being right back (I don't remember if anyone called her out). When she rushed back in, it was like someone who had made a shocking new discovery that couldn't be explained by science. Dr. Kassab said, "Your deductible covers 'the' treatment plans for my scalp which just made me think they were going to eat it. Or at least keep it which is really just as bad. #freescalpforever But here's the thing. I had, shortly before, a good run in the insurance field for about four, maybe five years. So I know what deductibles are, and I know how to read and understand a health insurance policy and her blatant dishonesty was so debilitating, I didn't have the energy to challenger her or fight back. I agreed to the next appointment, but called back a few days later to Karen my shit all over them and canceled it. Dr Kassab is a really nice person, I'm guessing, and, perhaps, she was just being led astray by larger, darker forces inside the dermatological universe. But this whole you-only-better hair treatment salad and sauna, left the broken taste of just-dead grouper, strawberries, chocolate, and ring worms in my mouth. And like so many have said before after their transaction with Dr. Kassab, I should have just ordered the salad. Front desk lady's personality is as sterile and as cold as the tools, lol! She always had such a stank expression on her face that you just have to laugh, or feel sorry for how depressed she must be. Dr is very sweet but rushed and doesn't take notes so you have to remind her of the treatment each time. She also fought with me on certain cosmetic treatments because the moles I wanted removed were "cute." As someone with body dysmorphia, I see that you're trying to make me feel better but it's not helping. She also gave me half-empty 8-month expired Vaseline bottles, and assured me my treatments were covered under the copay. I didn't receive any bills so I thought she was telling me the truth, but recently I cancelled my appointment and didn't reschedule because of a trip I was going on; I said I would call back. Dr. Kassab is wonderful. She is very good at what she does and she's also a very wonderful person. She is honest and knows what the best treatments are for your needs. As a new patient she was welcoming and the staff was beyond nice. Their new office is very spacious and clean. I have been going to her for a few months now, mostly for blue light treatment and to remove sun damage with the freeze spray and a combination of activators and blue light. She also offers a wide range of cosmetic procedures including Botox and filler. Her prices are lower than most and she does a wonderful job. Highly recommended. read more

Dr. Kassab is amazing. I've been going to her for a couple of months now and she has done an array of things to get my acne prone skin from bad to good. We've done blue light therapy, red light therapy and diuretics to get my hormonal acne under control. I am 24 and I have struggled so much with this problem. If you struggle also, please do make an appointment! The doctor is super sweet and will find a combination to make your skin feel better! In response to the business owners recent comment that keeps changing, the first one she threatened to sue me. Now this one claims she has photo documentation that she did the procedures. She never took a picture of anything so that would be shocking, sounds like she's trying to cover her ass as usual. I have heard from multiple patients about this doctor they too stated she threatened to sue them as well and the poor treatment they received. It seems like a lot of patients are angry with her. And she obviously can't let things go because she just posted the new comment to this review directly after I posted a picture from my new dermatologist (who I love by the way). I have since contacted Yelp to flag this business as threatening patients with lawsuits if they post a negative review. First time visiting Dr Kassab for an annual mole/melanoma screening at 7:30a. One of the first things she said to me was, "So do you want to check just the lower body? because if you want a full body screening that's going to be $300 (double the cost)" and, "I'd prefer not to do an upper body screening to minimize my own risk". It's fine if that's the policy, but I think those concerns should be brought up BEFORE I make an appointment, drive there, sign in, pay, and I'm in the doctor's office. It also doesn't make for a very positive first interaction. Bottom line there needs to be better communication with Dr. Kassab the rest of the staff. Dr Kassab seemed very knowledgeable and proficient during the screening, however she seemed very rushed for whatever reason. Overall not a positive experience. I will not be coming back. Pros: Dr was knowledgeable and knew what to look for. Staff was friendly and the appointment was on time. Cons: Bad communication between Dr and the rest of the staff. First time there and wasn't really impressed , the lobby area was crowded, i felt rushed during my time with the doctor and didn't really get information on how to properly use treatment . I asked for info on new sunscreen that could be less irritating and couldn't even get a sample of the brand she quickly mentioned nor why she recommended that one. They used the blue light for 5 min and sent me out my way to the crowded lobby to schedule and appt for two weeks which i left without scheduling since it felt too crowded i decided to leave and call to schedule. Not sure if it was just a bad day or what was going on ,but i could say i didn't leave with a comfortable experience , hoping second time around gets better because i drive for 30 min to get there , and to feel rushed and uncared for is not a place a will be wanting to return to. read more

PLEASE READ! TERRIBLE OFFICE STAFF ORGANIZATION AND COMMUNICATION While my encounter with Dr Kassab went great, the office is incredibly untrained and unprofessional. Every time I spoke to them on the phone they told me I had to book another appointment even though I was calling about the prescription being approved from my first visit. They don't communicate with the insurance and getting my prescription filled was like jumping through hoops. Victoria was finally able to assist me and sent the prescription which took 15 minutes. However it took almost a month of phone calls and me going into the office in person for them to finally send my prescription to CVS. Not coming back and highly recommend to find somewhere else for dermatology! read more

worst doctor ever, over couple years a go took my elderly mom due to back skin itching probably eczema, the doctor totally ignored the issue and started to perform laser radiation treatment on moles on my mother's hand, I stopped her immediately and I asked her what are you doing?, she said " you know these moles can turn to a skin cancer and I will treat them", I got upset and told her , you have no right to perform any kind of a treatment without the patient's consent especially we are here for a totally different issue, she asked me are you a doctor?, I told her I don't need to be a doctor to know the patient's right. and immediately refused her treatment and took my mother out of the office and told her I feel like I am at the butcher not at a doctor office and will never come back to your office again. apparently she was trying to do this treatment so she can bill my mother's insurance for a treatment that we didn't ask for. read more

I've only seen Dr. Ghada Kassab at this office and will never again for Botox. Visiting Dr. Grada Kassad feels very rushed and unimportant like a boarding of Southwest Airlines. You're just another number or paycheck for this office. Plus I paid CASH that sound have been my first RED FLAG. She offered me Botox for my forehead and crows feet next to my eyes and mentioned if I pay in CASH she'll give me additional Botox. After my Botox injections of 35 units I waited 30+ days for results. But nothing ever happened. I have no idea what she injected in me. She never showed me the bottle. I'm still Waiting and nothing is happening. She's asked me to come in for an additional 30 units and I refused. I've had Botox injections on my face at a different dermatologist with fantastic results using 35 units. Save your money and DO NOT GO TO HER FOR BOTOX! Lesson learned I should have just stayed with the other dermatologist that was $50-$100 more than Dr. Kassab. The other dermatologist was much more professional and took before and after pictures. Dr. Kassad's office gave me a frozen bottle of hand sanitizer to roll on my forehead to numb before the injections. What a joke! I kick myself in the ass for this complete waste of money. She lied to me and wants me to come in and pay more money. I no longer trust he or her office. It all comes down to you get what you pay for. Buyer BEWARE! The doctor is lovely and fantastic! However, the staff is disorganized and rude. I am disabled and woke up extremely ill this morning, so I called to reschedule my 12:40pm appointment. The lady was so kind and suggested I try to come in later that day. If I did not feel better she said to call back and they would reschedule it for another day without a problem. Well, I didn't feel better and decided it was unsafe for me to drive. I called back and was rudely told I would have to pay $50 for cancelling my appointment. The first lady didn't tell me this! Not only am I am sick today and stuck in bed, but these receptionists are cold liars and rude. I hung up and am no longer returning here. I'm not sure how this woman is even allowed to practice. I've recently relocated to SD from NYC, so I'm looking for new dermatologists. Big mistake to visit this office. -Her bedside manners are nonexistent. She glanced at my condition and diagnosed me with a different condition than what I have! (I had a skin swab eight years ago, and I've been seeing many doctors, I need treatment, not a diagnosis) - She doesn't listen to you. She glances at you while wanting to leave the room. I had to stop her several times - She talks to you about money and how much the insurance covers (?!!) whatever procedure is required - She kept insisting on a procedure to freeze whatever I had, while I know it's not how it works after eight years! - She is the rudest person I interacted with. I can't call her a dr, because I would offend real doctors - The office atmosphere is so heavy. You see the look on their faces. They look terrorized. Dr Ghada has now claimed she never had me as a patient. I have screenshots of messages from her asking me to delete my review and printed out appointment details from my multiple visits I have had with her so there's no denying it. She is now threatening to sue me for defamation of character. If you look into the other reviews, every person who said anything slightly negative she said personally commented back saying that they are not in her database or she will be taking legal action against them. Weird how 15 people post about her bad service and all 15 of us magically aren't in her database. Guess that's just her trying to scare people into changing their review but I stand by what I originally wrote. Also take note of anyone messaging you or threatening you by the name Susan S. I have reported her to Yelp as she seems to be somehow tied into this mess and is harassing me as well. I have been going to GK Dermatology for over Two years, I first came in to get a dark spot I had on my nose look at, after determining it was only a sun spot I had laser treatment to remove it and it lighten up only after few sessions of treatment. Since then I've been a regular patient, I have had Botox, laser hair removal lip fillers. I was always nervous about getting lip fillers because I wanted more of a natural look, I didn't want to look over done, she was able to create a more fuller look that I'm extremely happy with. I have also recommend my friends who have also been happy with their results. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Victoria is one of the best staff members there she is always helpful and caring. Dr. Kassab is very knowledgeable, caring and will discuss with you many options of procedures. This Dr is Amazing, she listens and checks what you came in for and also does a check of everything she notices, she takes care of multiple things per visit. Went here after having a bad experience at another local dermatologist. Even explained this to the Dr. she spent less than 4 minutes in the room with me, was writing me up for a biopsy which showed she hadn't read any of my file which has the biopsy results I brought in with me, and was sending me in for meds that were to treat the scars, not the cause of the issue. Will never come back here she barely even looked at my skin before deciding I needed something that she ended up changing once she actually read my file. Edit: Dr. Kassab called my personal cell from a blocked number 20 minutes after this review to let me know she would be "deleting the medications" she called in for me because of my review. That is absurd. Here is a doctor choosing to cancel the script she wrote up because of an honest ("bad") review. Anyone else see a problem with that? Got married and shortly after had my first full body cancer screening. Hmmm, there's a correlation here. :-) GK has great Yelp reviews and a ton of content to sift through so I figured it was a safe bet. They sure were! Not only did they get me in a few days after my initial call, but the day of the appointment was more efficiently run than most fast casual restaurant chains. There was a packed house in line, but I was seen and examined in about a half hour total. The doctor was quick but thorough scanning every inch of my skin with precision. She even took a peek at my unmentionables, and it wasn't even as uncomfortable as I thought it would have been. :-p I had all my questions answered about birthmarks, sun spots, and any other little spot that I wasn't sure about. Thankfully, I didn't have anything to be alarmed about, but she did recommend a return visit about once a year to make sure I'm staying ahead of anything. If you've never been to a Dermatologist, please use this glowing review as a reminder to get checked out every once in a while. And, if you need a fast and painless experience on a checkup, GK will provide that. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE VISITING: This review has less to do with Dr. K and more to do with her front office staff. If it weren't for her staff, things could have gone so much smoother. As someone who has been in/around medicine my whole life, I can honestly say that 9/10 times I take the Doctor's side because I know how difficult the job is. As someone who has seen both my father, grandfather, & partner manage a private practice I can also very honestly say that 9/10 times THE DOCTOR IS FULLY AWARE of the flaws in their clinic structure. The doctor is usually aware of who the shitty staff members are as well. If your go through residency, you get to experience an outpatient clinic and you're familiar with the cracks in the structure. I know how crappy it is to have to practice defensive medicine because assholes are trying to sue you all the time. However this is not one of those situations. Dr. K's front desk is filled with incompetent workers that make what could be a pleasant experience with a sweet doctor really painful. I'm sure they're the ones who are doing a poor job of arranging her appointments so you have to wait 1-2hrs every time you go. If you ask them anything, they respond with "I don't know what to tell you". They don't apologize when they make a mistake. They pretend to be stupid and act like they don't know what you're talking about when you catch them in a lie. They use intimidation tactics to scare you into backing off. Nice try, but I'm fully aware of what is illegal and not when it comes to doctor's offices. Dr. K, if you want to have a harmonious patient interaction I highly recommend hiring more competent patient coordinators. Your procedures will be much smoother when your patients don't feel disregarded before walking into their treatment with you. I know deep down you know they're acting like jerks and probably not preforming their job up to par. Accept the mistakes, teach them to apologize, and move on. I'm sure you could have avoided a lot of things if your front desk knew how to handle your books and had a better attitude. I've also noticed that you don't want to take responsibility for the mistakes they've made. It's not a good trend. As a Doctor who's put years into her work, you have more to lose than the patients. Your staff should understand the sacrifices you've made to come this far, and they shouldn't be the ones jeopardizing things for you. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt because I always want to see the best in practitioners. Doctors work way too hard to get to where they are. I can't say the same for your staff. Do they work just as hard as you? Have they also sacrificed their 20's and 30's slaving away in school in hopes for a better future? Studying hours for step 1, 2, 3, and endless board certifications? The grilling hours of residency with minimum sleep? Dr. K, you have more to lose than them. They will move on and find another job. If you get shut down for malpractice, that's it for you. All your years of med school, your journey from Iraq to your residency program in Indiana will have been for nothing.
