Rafi Law Firm - Mike Rafi

    Rafi Law Firm

I'd give ZERO stars if I could: This firm traumatized me more than my assaulter. For almost two…read moreyears, they pretended to represent me in a sexual assault case, but ignored emails for months, missed critical deadlines, and abandoned me two weeks before trial--after I dared to ask for a continuance to get the fair trial I was never being prepared for. I was left in the dark the entire time--begging for updates. I had to send multiple emails just to get a response. They ignored me for months at a time. When I finally got a rare update, my attorney casually told me he had spoken to my abuser and said, "He seems like a nice guy, very concerned." That's what he said about the man who sexually assaulted me. I couldn't believe it. But this attorney--who was supposed to be advocating for me--made excuses for my abuser and then told me to "be the bigger person." These are triggering, cruel phrases to say to a victim of sexual violence. For nearly two years, there was no real prep for trial. No witness statements, no mental health records submitted, no damages defined. Then--one week before trial-- I sent several emails asking for the court date and time (which he scheduled for in person when I've told him repeatedly that I don't live in Georgia) he suddenly tried to cover himself by offering to rehearse one week before trial... and suggested we do it in person, completely forgetting I live out of state. I requested a continuance to do this right--to get the justice I deserved. That's when Chris Stokes brought in Mike Rafi, and they retaliated. The refused to request for a continuance knowing I have a very important work week next week and I don't have the mental bandwidth to rush this trial and perform at work. They ignored me for 2 years and tried to force me to settle with my abuser who finally contacted them when he found out the trial date. I said I don't want to take the coins my abuser is tossing my way to shut me up. I'd like to press for time since they never worked with me on my trial in two years. They said "No". I emailed the Judge's secretary myself asking for a coninuance and CC'd them out of respect. Instead of helping me, they punished me for speaking up: Mike Rafi REPLIE-ALL to the court and simply stated that they no longer represent me--abandoning a sexual assault victim two weeks before trial. Didn't even address me! Just told the judge's assistant! Then they turned hostile, threatening me with court costs and legal fees--after they failed to represent me. They wanted me to settle for just $25,000--because they "wanted the check to clear by Monday." They referenced my abuser's marital and financial status as if that justified giving up. This was never about justice for them. It was about closing a file and getting paid--at my expense. I am not the first client this happened to. Look at the other reviews--people dropped when they ask questions, then bullied by Mike Rafi when they refuse to stay silent. This law firm revictimized me, traumatized me, and left me to fend for myself right before trial. They are dangerous, careless, and in my opinion, unethical. Survivors: do not trust them with your trauma. You deserve better than this.

Had some issues from the beginning with lack of communication. Because of the lack of…read morecommunication, I had to send my own paperwork in to request the type of hearing I would prefer since the letter said I only had 10 days to respond and they never responded to my several messages. I left a one-star review previously due to the communication nonsense, then a very nice lady calls me and tells me she's changing my case manager over to a different lady "Amber". I boosted the rating to a five-star because of how awesome she was. Then the new lady she assigned, lied to me stating that I couldn't change my mind on the type of hearing I would like to have. I decided to search the internet and found out that I can change my mind, I will post the wording below. I believe "Amber" my new Legal Assistant decided to tell me that information because obviously the longer it takes the more money they make. I should have known better to hire a large firm like this. Bad mistake on my part! Don't follow suit!!! Info found: Yes, you can change your mind. If you initially asked for an in-person hearing with a Social Security Administrative Law Judge, you can request a switch to a telephone or online video format, though you should contact your assigned hearing office as soon as possible to make the request.
