Jerk Chicken over rice

Love this spot! Been going here over the week visiting someone in the nearby hospital. Food is always delicious especially the jerk chicken. Great portions and prices especially for the area. Service is always on point and done with kindness. This spot deserves all the support!

Second time trying it. So good

And I think that might have been our downfall. We went the breakfast route and started with a Cinnamon roll made right on the griddle. It created this crispy char that gave the roll more of a funnel cake texture. Unique, and the icing definitely enhances it (as it does most cinnamon rolls). Their special breakfast sandwich, "The Morning Wake-up" touts a "2x the size English Muffin" and they were not lying. This sandwich had cheese, multiple meats and vegetables, and I needed to take half of it home due to sheer size. What it didn't have... sauce. What it needed... sauce, syrup, aioli or something to lubricate all of those toppings. The breakfast potatoes on the side needed salt/seasoning/sauce, too, to be more to my liking. It was a similar experience with my wife's Reuben and the fries that she ordered; the sandwich had its moments, but it made me wish one of us got a burger like most of the other patrons.

The bread itself also had an alcohol taste to it- maybe it's the batch as the last time I had it I couldn't taste it but this time I may not pass a breathilizer from it alone I had the RBW Burger and the aioli was tasty. The pickles were unlike any I've had before- like the thing between a pickle and a cucumber. The wait staff were nice! The volume was pretty standard for a bar. Only gave it a four because the food can be inconsistent between visits. (Last time the fries were way too salty and this time they were perfect- also the bread)

So good, decadent really. I had the RBW Sloppy Joe- Chorizo, BBQ sauce, cheese and onion petals on a pretzel bun! This sandwich is to die for!! I will be making this at home if I can figure out the right mix. My wife had the Mexican salad with chicken and she said that it was awesome. I also tried two of their beers and a cider. First I had the Delicious which is a light wheat beer, very refreshing. Second was the Webrewedabeertogether which was a Bock, great tasting dark beer and then I tried the Eat a peach cider, also light and refreshing.

Have to say this has become one of our favorites for casual dining with amazing food. Drove to…read moredowntown Delaware and found easy parking on the street (there are also nearby lots). Backstretch is super casual (given Ohio Wesleyan is nearby - its almost a college/town bar) but great to come in a sit at the bar or one of their booths. It isnt big, maybe 15-20 bar stools and 12 booths and 1-2 tables. This time we picked a booth and a great server (Jacobi) helped us right away. Fun part of backstretch is the staff. Servers are friendly, you can watch the cooks prepare your food, and they have a full bar. Note they dont have many draft beer options, but servers tried hard to get us something we liked. Food here is fresh off the grill and tastes like home cooked food - from their Reuben(which was amazing) to Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich (has kick but so good) - you cant go wrong. This time we added Tots, Mac and Cheese, and the Deviled eggs (most sandwiches are served with a deviled egg - tasty). We also tried Jacobi recommendation of Hencock Tots - wing sauce - cheese and bacon. Should have just made that my meal. Amazing. They dont take reservations but unless there is an event in downtown, you can usually walk in for dinner. This was our third visit in 60 days! Ready to go back - thanks Jacobi for a fun night and see you all soon.

Was our first time here. Great Cocktails, excellent bar tender, excellent service, good old town…read morevibe, entrees are creative. The best part of the meal was the appetizer - sautéd mushroom toast - really tasty! I don't recommend the Steak au poivre (a filet with sauce = supposed to be a classic French dish of pan-seared steak, traditionally filet mignon, crusted with coarsely cracked peppercorns and served with a rich, creamy pan sauce made from the pan drippings, cognac, and heavy cream.) - cut of meat was definitely not tender enough as filet should be, sauce was okay but not "au poive" & oddly it was served with traditional french fries which I found a mismatch - I would not order that again. Wife ordered the evening special Flounder - it was pretty good. We'll go back sometime & try some other things. Most people around us were ordering sandwiches, and they looked pretty amazing.

Great presentation but fell slightly short of more gimmick than "chef inspired." Burger just wasn't anything special for a $20 burger. Thurman across the street is probably a better choice. My wife got the Cod Schnitzel, sounded good but was a pretty small piece of fish for $27. I asked how it was, she said bland, even with the sauce. Really wanted to love this place. Might try again to see but unfortunately wasn't what we were hoping for. On the bright side, man our server was 1000% wonderful!!! So attentive and wonderful!

I enjoyed the French omelette and the dressing on the side salad was probably my favorite part! My mom loved the smash burger and the waffle fries were amazing and crunchy. My dad enjoyed the country fried steak with egg and also liked the fries. My brother ordered the best out of all of us! The shakshouka was to die for! Definitely give that a try if you have a chance. We finished up with the beignets which were okay but needed more powdered sugar. We also tried the whiskey bread pudding and it was pretty phenomenal! Our server, Tony, deserves his own fan club. He was the perfect combination of kind, attentive, and genuinely funny--the type of person who could probably convince you to order a shoe if it came with the chef's balsamic reduction. Speaking of which, I had the filet medallions with said reduction, and let me just say: if I could marry a sauce, this would be "the one." My friend ordered the scallops with risotto, and she ate every last grain of rice like she was guarding treasure. Special shoutout to Matt, the manager, who went above and beyond to accommodate my many food allergies without making me feel like "that" customer. Instead, he treated it like a fun culinary puzzle to solve. Food? Phenomenal! Service? Flawless! Atmosphere? Just the right mix of cool and comfortable. Regrets? Only that I didn't take a picture... but that just means I have to go back.

All three had flavor, personality, and just enough mess to prove they don't skimp on the good stuff. (If your taco doesn't drip, did you even taco?) For dessert, I went all in with the Cheesecake Chimi. Imagine cheesecake got invited to a cinnamon-sugar carnival and decided never to leave. Crunchy, sweet, and dangerously addictive. The service was fast, the place was clean, and my only regret is that I didn't order extra napkins up front. Verdict: Come for the tacos, stay for the chimi, and wear a shirt you're not afraid to baptize in salsa.

Walking in, it smelled delicious. I saw people plates and the food looked great, so of course I was excited for our meal and almost regretting that we got carryout. The staff were very nice and told us to make sure we come back to dine in (I'll be back ASAP!). Our food was delicious!! I had the Birria torta and my husband got an assortment of tacos (which of course I tried), we also shared the chori queso. The bread from the torta was fresh and soft and loaded with meat, it did get a little soggy but I wasn't bothered considering it was birria. I especially loved their salsas, they were both packed full of flavor and the red one had a nice kick. We enjoyed all of the tacos, al pastor, steak, campechanos, and quesa birria. They were a good size and very flavorful. The chori queso was pretty good, it wasn't overly greasy like some others I've had and the chips were fresh. Overall this seems like it will be a great spot, Delaware has plenty of Mexican Restaurants to choose from but Hacienda offers some different options I haven't seen at the others. Happy to have them in the area!
