After giving a quote and taking a deposit they tried to double the price when they came to do the install of my gutters. The first person I spoke with said they indicate the price may increase and that it is stated on the invoice. It is not stated anywhere on the invoice. She then said its in the proposal. I informed her I never got a proposal to which she said she could create one and send it to me. When I asked to speak with the supervisor a person named Syed (?) got on and said his employee made a mistake on the quote and he could not do the job for the agreed upon price. I could understand if they never came to my house or if I gave them the wrong information but between gutter cleanings and dryer vent cleanings they have been to my house 5 times this year. I would never use this company again we had an appointment they never showed up didn't call us to tell us they couldn't show up. I called them to tell them at first they said someone had come and then they looked more and said they didn't the person I spoke with was not very friendly. Then I received a bill for services that were never completed I can understand the mix-up however what I can't understand is the person on the phone Garfield argued with me that the work has been completed he would not take my word for it told me he would send someone out the next day to take a look. They came out the next day weren't prepared to do my job now remind you they charged my credit card for work that hadn't been done. So i just recently just got my gutter cleaned after 3 to 4 days waiting . Yesterday they arrived to clean gutter and saw that i had gutter covers and left after 10 mins . So my mother in law informed me they were here for 10 mins and left . So fews hours past and noone informed me about the gutter covers . So i had to call them to see what was the deal . So they wanted to charge me more for removal and they couldnt come back till next day and that really annoyed me . Really horrific company. They employ workers who don't speak English. They do the gutters whenever THEY get around to it. So you may not know if they actually did the work --unless by chance you happen to be home at the time. One day, after a rainstorm, I found an inch of water in my basement. I hired a contractor and he told me it was the gutters. It was an obvious and simple repair to the contractor-- but no mention of this from Ned Stevens. Ned Stevens just removes leaves--- and that's that. Basic. Nothing more. I suggest getting a contractor if you need something looked at. Always get a second opinion. Don't trust Ned Stevens. ***Update to the Ned Stevens response--- doesn't address the fact that my home became flooded due to their negligence. I could care less how many "awards" they have when I'm standing in an inch of water due to their non-English speaking employees. FYI -- the B.B.B. is a private, non-profit organization. Anyone with a few bucks in their pocket for them can get an "award." **** Update to their "update". I already HIRED a contractor and the problem was caught by him and NOT Ned Stevens. Ned stevens came to my house IN NEW JERSEY and cleaned my gutters spring of 2020 - they called me around September 2020 and THEY offered me a contract price to do my gutters in the spring and fall - I accepted their offer They did not come in the fall of 2020 as we had an early winter - I had no issue with this Yesterday 3/30/21 they showed up and sat in my driveway for about 5 minutes - then left a door hanger saying they could not do the job and I should call the office I called about 10AM and was told there's a price issue? I said "you're raising the price" and was told someone would call me At 12:31 PM I received a call - and was given a new price - was told they under priced it - this "new price" was almost DOUBLE the quoted contract price I told them 1- you did this house spring of 2020 so you knew the house and your contract price was only about $5 lower than what I paid then 2- your agent made the offer 3- I accepted your offer 4- you are breaching the contract This is a classic bait and switch - I'm in New Jersey' - my suggestion is CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION read more

UPDATE: Ned Stevens cleaned our gutters on June 20. The workers threw a hose off the roof and smashed our glass-topped patio table and damaged our market umbrella. We're glad no workers were injured, but wonder about the training and oversight they provide their workers. We have been in contact with Shane and Garfield. They took away the frame for the table weeks ago and we have gotten the run around as to why the glass top cannot/has not been replaced. I hired Stevens to put gutters up at my house. I noticed after the job was done that I'm suddenly getting water in the cellar and also that the water is now not collecting in the gutter but going between the gutter and the facia. What they did is crush the the drip edge up against the facia And slap the gunner over it. This causes that the water to go between the facia and the gutter instead of into the gutter. I called them and they came back to take a look and told me they couldn't fix it without doing damage to my roof. So I had to climb up on my own roof and go all the way around the house and fix this myself. My tourney is about to handle this but I would stay the h*** away from that company if I were you. Then after they came and cleaned, they call and tell me I need all my gutters replaced for $1300. Sales guy can't even tell me why. I ask to speak to crew Foreman to find out more details - can't. Finally get them agree to send another crew out so I can talk to them. This crew comes and barely speaks English, but speaks enough to tell me that the gutters are fine and don't need to be replaced. It was raining and the gutter by my bedroom window was overflowing onto my window causing water to seep into the house. I also explained that the gutters and leads went into a conduit in the ground and came out to the lawn and these all needed to be flushed out. I asked that when they came I needed to show them which gutter was overflowing. I was told they do this and there would be no problem. When I called, I explained thoroughly what the issues were. 2 guys came wearing helmets, never rang the doorbell and were gone in 15 minutes. The only way i noticed them is they sprayed all my windows with my hose. My house is 3 stories high, 3127 sq. Ft and a 3 car garage, all with gutters and leaders to the lawn underground. I saw them leaving so i ran outside to catch them and could not. As i looked around the property, all the debris they blew off the roof was all over the lawn and driveway. I looked to see if there was any wetness from them flushing the gutters and it was dry as a bone. They never flushed the gutters. Then it rained again and the same thing happened with that gutter. The water was gushing onto my bedroom window and water was coming in. I called them to tell them what happened and that not to charge me because they did not do the job as promised. In fact the girl on the phone told me they called in and said job was completed. Then they argued with me on the phone and said they were going to charge my card and that I have to pay. I said no. When I called to get the gutters cleaned I was told I would have to pay extra to schedule the appointment on a specific day and time. I was told that a crew would be at my house in 7 - 10 days to do the work, but I would have no prior warning of when they would be there. They didn't come until 14 days later. They couldn't email me to tell me when they might be coming, but found time to send me 3 other emails trying to sell me other services. I got my invoice by email and it contained a notice in scary bold print to call them about a problem that needs immediate attention. Called them and they said that our siding was dirty and proceeded to try to sell me that service. I don't appreciate my time being wasted by these kind of scare tactics. I contacted Ned Stevens via an internet search for roof cleaning services. They quoted a price by phone and indicated they would be out in about two weeks. I asked for a more specific time frame but they declined stating it depended upon other jobs in the area, weather etc. They told me I did not need to be home when they came as everything was done outside. They also took my credit card info for a deposit and told me the card would be automatically charged when the job was done. I was hesitant to agree with all this but went ahead anyway. The crew showed up unannounced about a week later. I was pleased to watch them move plants and furniture out of the way and cover shrubs etc with tarps. They went about their task efficiently and thoroughly. They cleaned up after themselves so that you would not even know they had been there except for the clean roof. Overall, I am very pleased with the results. My credit card was charged the agreed upon amount the next day. No hassle, no fuss, no muss! read more

Yelp removed my original 1 star review claiming I posted it on too many of their sites. (???) Luckily for me Ned Stevens read the review before Yelp removed it. I'm amending my review of the gutter cleaning service by Ned Stevens in N.J. because they remedied the problem. On 9/12 a Ned Stevens representative called and said she would investigate the claims of my negative review and send a quality manager out. On 9/14 Mark came out and went up on the roof to inspect the work that was done. He apologized for his crew's work and offered to replace my vinyl gutter guards (which were removed without my permission) with metal ones at no cost. I was skeptical about trusting them but I agreed. I still had the bag of debris with the mesh linings in it and he took it with him. A week later I came home and found that they had replaced the gutter guards as promised. read more

After watching a Ned Stevens crew execute on my next door neighbors roof, I was initially impressed with their through execution, clean up and attention to safety . On a subsequent visit, I did notice the safety aspect diminished, and workers were on the roof edge not utilizing fall protection. Clearly a worker safety issue respective to OSHA / WISHA standard. Based on the above we decided to hire them , with my intention to supervise and correct the safety aspect of their execution. My real issue with this company is they clearly execute under FRAUDULANT - UNETHICAL business practices. Having contacted them in August 2021, we signed up for annual service. As part of this, we asked if they would come out and field verify, they indicated it was not necessary. We supplied our home square footage as requested and added 200+ feet to our accessors records just to ensure we were covered. Additionally we supplied our exact address, which as mentioned is 20 feet from one of their other accounts, for which they have extensive experience and established fees. In October the Ned Stevens crew showed up for the first of our prepaid cleanings under our annual contract. After about 10 minutes of being on the roof and canvasing the perimeter of our house, the crew simply left with no direct contact. We received a Text and a tag on our front door indicating there was a problem, and we needed to contact the office. We made contact with the office and were told, " Your Square Footage Is Larger than initially indicated", we are going to have to Double your annual fee. We immediately sent them the county assessors records which clearly proved that our home was in fact, approximately 300 sq. feet less then our contact specified. We called the office one again to confirm Ned Stevens would live up to their contract, after all we prepaid and they had the working capital benefit or our annual payment, so we did our part. The contact confirmed our home was actually less than contracted for, but indicated he could not authorize services, we would have to call back later and speak to another representative. Contact #3, we called the specified person who indicated "We confirmed your square footage, but your home is an OUTLIER, so we still need to double your rate". After reiterating the fact not only did we accurately supply all information up front, and the key fact they take care of the home next door, we simply met with more condescension and defamatory replies. Apologies for the lengthy detail, but they are supplied in the event this is a pattern others have experienced, and just not our own personal nightmare. Ultimately we received a refund of our annual payment, and are now looking for a reputable operation. Chances are we may have contracted with them for an increased fee upfront , but we will pay double elsewhere for a fair and honest business relationship. read more

I called Ned Stevens for gutter cleaning. They gave me an estimate on the phone. I explained that I had a Victorian style house that was 3 stories. They showed up fairly soon, but left a notice on the door that they had not done the service. When I called to find out why not, I was told that they did not have long enough ladders to do my gutters! What part of a 3 story Victorian house did you not understand? The secondary reason I was given is that there were wires that posed a hazard. The wires near the gutter are phone wires and if anyone had spoken to me (I was home) we could have sorted that out. read more

Terrible. First they promised to clean the gutters and downspouts within a week. It took them two weeks. Each day after the first week I called them to ask what day they would be coming. They could not tell me. When they finally showed up (without event calling first) I pointed out one downspout in particular that was clogged and instructed the employee to be sure to clean it out. After they left I discovered that it is just as clogged now as it was before they arrived. To add insult to injury, they left a card in the door saying there was a problem and to call the office. When I called they alleged that one gutter wasn't pitched properly and needed to be replaced at a cost of over $300. The gutter works just fine. When I told the woman on the phone. that I'd think about it, she insisted on me giving her a reason why I would not commit then and there to having the work done. We have been using NS's gutter cleaning for 16 years now. This is the first time using their window washing service and they insist on a 7am-4pm time frame for arrival. Even when we called the morning of, they were unwilling to narrow it at all - very inconvenient. EDIT: Despite poor customer service at first, the actual work done was excellent! Would not recommend. Sloppy, their idea of cleaning the back gutters is to stand on your roof and just spray water down on them. That's not what I paid for. I paid for visual inspection and cleaning. They never checked the actual gutters or downspouts. They got more water on my patio table and chairs then in the gutters. Sloppy work on the front. Allowed dirty water to fall on my plants and siding instead of just actually picking out the visible blockage first. When I told them I was not happy with their work, they came back into my yard after they said they completed the work and took pictures of the gutters. I told them they were trespassing. We have been customers of Ned Stevens for many years during which time they have performed routine gutter cleaning services, emergency repairs and total gutter replacement. Overall, they consistently show up when they are supposed to, perform the services we contracted for, and advised us about any problems detected or additional maintenance required. Our one suggestion for change/improvement would be - especially for long-term repeat customers - is to consider merely emailing an annual renewal service agreement within a couple of months of the renewal date rather than resorting to the numerous contact attempts by phone well in advance of the renewal date, which can be annoying and which are usually screened out or ignored, at least until much closer to the renewal date. read more

This tale is from Chicago. They have a 5-star rating on their website, I believe that is purely by their own design. I had been told twice by the person taking the call that they would send out one of their techs, prior to committing to an appointment, I have a barn-shaped building 3 stories and 2 gutters running along the west and east sides. The gutters are probably 30 ft long. First she told me that they have some sort of pully or strap contraption, but I insisted this is a barn building, and that doesn't sound possible. I also had to coordinate with the neighbors because the property is right on the lot line and access to the property is necessary to access. She insisted that she has workers in the area and she will have them take a look at the property before setting the appointment. Then randomly I get a call from on of the tech letting me know that they would need to reschedule due to weather. So I stated, I had not known someone was going to go to the property that day without notice and someone was supposed to evaluate before doing so anyway. He said he knew nothing about that and to call the office. I called the office, spoke to the same or another female answering the phone. Only stating female, for some sort of identity because I don't recall her name. I expressed that no one had called me about going to the property because as I stated in my original call, coordination with the neighbor with 2 large dogs, needs to provide access, which the property owner was perfectly fine with doing so. Then I asked what happened with someone going out to evaluate and she said she is sure it is not a problem and when they come out they will evaluate and do the job all at once. So we rescheduled for yesterday, 12.06.2022. I confirmed with the neighbor, he said to give him notice, I messaged while on the call before committing. But I expressed again, I need at least 30 min notice to contact him on the day of the cleaning. Fast forward to 12.06.2022, I receive a text stating that the techs are en route with no arrival time. I quickly messaged the neighbor, he did not respond right away. I received a response within 28 min, he confirmed. I called Neds immediately, spoke to another lady, same or not the same, and went over my concern, I had no way of getting in touch with whomever they were sending out, it had been 30 min since the auto text, and I was concerned they didn't have the info to be able to go into the neighbors property. She said she had not heard any issues, no one called with an issue and it must be fine. Fast forward, no updates at all throughout the day. This morning 12.07.2022, I get a call stating that the supervisor determined that they could not do the job so they didn't do it. So now, wasting a month of time, having them reschedule, being told she was sure it wasn't an issue and it is an issue. So then I called my backup, they are not taking any new appointments so now Ned has screwed me completely and they need to be cleaned before a snow/freezing rain event. There is a reason you can not leave a true non 5 star rating on their site, because they are terrible! read more
