Horrendous! The stylist, in a hurry to blow out my hair had the dryer on high the entire time…read moreholding it next to my scalp. Even when I jerked away in pain saying she was burning my scalp, she continued with high heat burning my scalp several more times. I have shoulder length medium thick hair. The stylist started my shampoo at 7 minutes after the hour and I was out of the chair 26 minutes later. The appointment is 45 minutes. The same stylist on a prior visit was unable to locate a towel to place around my neck for shampoo. Instead, there was a flimsy piece of cloth no larger than a face cloth she draped over a shoulder. Needless to say- I walked away from the wash basin with the back of my dress soaking wet. In addition to burning my scalp, I asked for "lots of volume." I walked out with helmet head. This is not the first time either. Last November (2025), when I first started going to blo Knox, the stylists were amazing. Very talented. Took their time to insure you were happy with the results. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the year there has been a considerable decline in talent. It seems the stylists are constantly changing. The styling products are either terrible or the stylists do not know how to use them. Two days after a blowout my hair was greasy and dull. I bring my own products to use now and at least my hair is not dull! I initially shared my concerns with the manager via email. It took more than 2 weeks to get a response and that was to offer me more blowouts. The skill of the stylists has not improved. Last year I purchased many blowouts during a holiday special. I am almost finished with the pre-paid blowouts. Once I am done, I will go to Drybar where the products are exceptional and the stylists highly skilled. At least I will not get first degree burns on my scalp.

It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

I have had some really great blowouts here and some average ones, but today I got none…read more I have been a BarFly member for 4 years and visit this location pretty regularly. I arrived within the grace period for my appointment after fighting through all the construction traffic near the salon and was told by Liz/Lis at the front desk that I would not be accommodated, it was Friday what did I expect, and that she couldn't do anything about it. I offered a wash and rough dry. No. I offered a wash and get as far as you can on a straight blowout in 30 minutes. No.I asked for a reschedule. Nope. I asked to wait. Probably not - she would only work me in if she had a full on cancel (never mind the multiple stylists that were sitting in the back when I got there). I was told dry style (which my hair was not ready for) was the only option and because I didn't want that I needed to move aside and I was wasting her time. At that point it was clear that waiting and dry style were no longer options for me. The eye-rolling from the front desk was the cherry on top. Cancelled my membership after four years and going to start booking at a local salon instead.

I completely understand how being late can throw other schedules off , but sounds like in two hours you'll have a buffer to make up that 2 minutes and maybe just maybe offer something for the service I'm now going to have to pay for anyways.
