The pick up line is mixed in with the line that people try to order! It's hard to get thru! For an ice cream place, they have a max cap of 30 seatings. I tried their Thai Tea flavor ice cream and while I did enjoy its texture, which may or may not have anything to do with their preparation style, it's not something I'd pay $7 for repeatedly. They only get 2 stars due to the entire experience and ordering set-up, however. Each of the workers pick up a batch of orders at a time, and depending on how quickly each worker gets through their order, you have differences in when your order is ready. While I waited, it was not uncommon to hear order #36 called before order #30. Because each order takes 3-5 minutes to prepare, you'll be seeing people who lined up after you getting their orders considerably before you. After waiting 15 minutes in line to even order, it's a big annoyance. It doesn't help that as a desserts joint, you'll be surrounded by families each with 6 kids running around because the parents obviously don't control them. It's not the most pleasant place to be waiting. And given how busy they get, good luck seeing any employees cleaning the seating area at any regular pace. Love love love! Had the Captain Crunch with assorted fruits, mochi, and nuts. I like that you get to pick your toppings after your order is processed. When your order is ready, they call your number and you get to pick and choose as many toppings as you like. Nothing is weighed and it's a set price. This is by far one of my favorite flavors because they add real strawberries. After they make your ice cream, you get to choose as many toppings to add. When I got here, I thought you had to pay for each additional topping, but my friend told me you could add as much as you wanted. So I kept it simple with whipped cream and sprinkles. But they have so many more options such as nuts, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, koala cookies and wafer straw to name a few The only down side to this ice cream shop is the wait time. I had to wait about 7 minutes in line and then another 15 minutes to get my ice cream. My wife got the strawberry and graham cracker ice cream, and I ordered the green tea and red bean. The rolls crumble and flake apart when trying to scoop it up. It does stay frozen the entire time, which is great, but it makes it overly hard to eat. The best thing going for this place is that you can add as many toppings as you can. For $6.50, you should be able to do so, so kudos for that. What's weird is that their toppings are lined up perpendicular to your point of view, all of which are along the same plane so you can't really see all your options. This is a fung shui nightmare. I don't like that you have to spend a minimum of $15 if you want to use a card. Each order of rolled ice cream is $6.50 so if you buy two and don't have cash, they'll turn you away. Went here for the first time with some friends from my hometown. This place is all hype. It's very cool the way they make their ice cream but it's okay. The cashier guy which is the manager told me if I write a review I will get a free scoop so I took the time to write a review and expected to get my free ice cream scoop. Then later on when I was getting toppings on my ice cream, they said you have to buy a scoop of ice cream and write a review about it. How are you going to put on your door "Yelp review us and get 1 free scoop ice cream" then you're going to add on a different policy. The guy with a long hair who was adding toppings was not so friendly and he added on later "the policy is not my rule, it's that guy over there" who was at the cashier. I think he's a manager/shift leader. This place is not so friendly environment, didn't even ask if it was our first time or not. If you want to run your business properly, learn some manners. My husband had been talking for months about wanting to try this place after seeing a YouTube video showing an ice cream vendor somewhere in Southeast Asia making this kind of ice cream. Seems this is going to be the next big trend in hip desserts/drinks/snacks catering to enormous crowds of teenagers and twentysomethings. We beat the crowds and managed to place our order within about 15 minutes of getting in line; by the time we sat down to enjoy our dessert the line was out the door and down the sidewalk, and easily would have taken an hour to get through. The ice cream was certainly delicious, but I don't know that I'd wait in a line that long just for the novelty of the experience. The very process of creating ice cream in this unique way is what leads to the long lines, as well as the rather high price tag ($6.50 for a single serving when we went). It's a time and labor-intensive endeavor. First a cream base is poured from a pitcher onto chilled stainless steel freezer plates. Next, any mix-ins that go into the flavor you've chosen are added, and the staff goes to work scraping, chopping, and mixing your creation in a pile on the plate, much like at Cold Stone Creamery. The freezer plates cause the liquid to gradually freeze as it comes in contact with the surface, but a creamy consistency is maintained by the constant stirring and mixing. Once everything is thoroughly mixed, the entire concoction is spread in a thin, even layer over the entire surface of the plate and the edges squared off. At this point any sauces or purees that go into your flavor are drizzled evenly over the sheet of ice cream. Finally, a spatula is used to scrape off ribbons of the ice cream a row at a time, and as it is scraped off it curls into a neat spiral. Each spiral is carefully placed inside a paper cup, and you are invited to select as many toppings as you'd like to complete your masterpiece. I thoroughly enjoyed my ice cream (Thai Tea) and my husband's (Chocolate Monkey - Nutella/banana), but I would have liked there to be an option for a smaller portion at a lower price.
