Cute spot! It's located on the 3rd floor of the Galleria, so there's a lot of parking. Lots of choices which I appreciate haha. Joy was a big help and super nice. I got the passionfruit sparkling ade with strawberry popping boba and it's so refreshing. I'm literally about to gulp the rest of it down as I type this haha definitely worth trying
The gentleman working was friendly and efficient. I got an Iced caramel macchiato and I thought it had a great espresso flavor & wasn't too sweet. Just right. It's located on the 3rd floor of The Galleria, so don't be hesitant to give them a visit!
Came around 6pm on Sunday for a treat with my daughter~ Friendly and helpful! Drink was tasty, delicious, sweet and creamy~ I like the crystal boba because it seems like a healthy option! This place is near the food court but has its own tables and seating area . Would like to rerun and try other items!

Decent tasting Thai tea. Tea flavor wasn't the strongest, but did taste a lot like vanilla, maybe it was the creamer. Was very creamy after all. Boba was cooked well, and had a good sweetness to it. Gave a nice amount of boba. I feel price is a bit high for what you get, but not insanely so. A 16oz is $4.50, which is fair, while boba is a additional $0.75, which again is fair (these days). Sales tax is another $0.50 so altogether was $5.75 for the small cup. A 24oz would run you $5 alone, so probably around $6.25 altogether, which is on par with chain shops even. Granted it is a small business, so it could cost more, however given the tea shop competition in the area I wouldn't make this my end all be all choice, especially since milk tea doesn't seem like their main focus compared to the ice cream. Service was fast. Cashier wasn't super friendly but got the job done. Drink came out in about a minute since another employee was there. Wasn't able to snap a pic of the menu because I was in a hurry, but for those who want the fish cones seen in other pictures, pretty sure they don't do them anymore. Didn't see any pictures of them, waffle equipment out, or even the fish cones listed on the menu (instead just says ice cream cone for $3.50). Overall, solid experience and if you're craving milk tea while at the Galleria go for it. Was there running errands and in my quest to find the best milk tea in Redondo/Torrance/Gardena couldn't resist stopping by, but wouldn't go there for it alone in the future, despite being a local. Worth a try, not sure about a repeat since it was good and priced okay but not amazing. Didn't try it but I figure the ice cream can't be bad either.
My cousins were visiting from abroad, and they were looking for Lakers merch to take home as gifts. We went around every Big 5, Champs, Fanzz, etc. and ended up at South Bay Galleria. I took a break from all the shopping and decided to grab a drink from here. You'll find them on the third floor of the shopping mall, where Dairy Queen and Orange Julius used to be. The neighborhood is largely safe, but crime is above average statistically for this specific area. Don't store valuables in vehicles or keep them out of sight. Always make sure you're not being followed. Avoid coming around the evening hours. In general, I'm more mindful of my surroundings here than at other places due to prior shootings and stabbings that have happened here. It was a slow weekday, with only one person working. My order took about ten minutes. There's not much seating in the immediate vicinity, but the food court is a short walk away if you need to sit somewhere. I got the Creamy Mocha Smoothie, which was alright. Didn't have too much coffee flavor to it. The consistency was fine, creamy as advertised. Besides the chocolate swirls it was kind of bland overall, it tasted more vanilla-y. Doubt I'll be back.
Cafe Meli Mellow is located inside the South Bay Galleria serving delicious coffee (hot or iced), teas, smoothies, and lemonade. All good stuff but you want to try the Taiyaki with soft-served ice cream (add toppings). Much better than a waffle cone and an excellent compliment when filled with a frozen treat. Journey up to the third floor and give them a try. Note, if there's a line, it can be a bit of a wait.
Service - Friendly Location - Difficult to find as its in South Bay Galleria on the 3rd floor around the corner from Macy's. Taste - The mango smoothie had excellent flavor! Price - average
Tried it once and I am over it: XD Somi somi is much much better and this place is just another wannabe. I believe it's family business, father and son, I could be wrong though. The way the older man made my Takiyaki (fish waffle cone with soft serve) is like making fine art. It took about 15 mins to get my order and there were 2 orders of drink with cotton candy on top and he had to make them individually. He gave me a sorry smile since the wait is kind long. What's good: Looks pretty:P obviously !!! Quality is decent, ice cream is dense as the soft serve I like and not overly sweet. Taste wise it's ok. Joe's Italian soft serve is still my favorite. The waffle cone (fish shell) is made carefully with perfect shape but texture is a bit too hard. What's just ok: For Takiyaki there's only two toppings to choose from, rainbow (fruit pebble) or chocolate (chocolate sprinkle). While I feel rainbow makes picture looked better, I did not like fruit pebbles artificial taste but I am also not the fan of chocolate sprinkle. ( I don't consider its real chocolate) The Takiyaki (fish shaped waffle) actually hard enough to hold the ice cream well but by the end of it you have to use spoon to scoop out the ice cream. The Nutella filling is very minimal to taste it. It's basically just soft serve with a fancy look by adding topping and a strawberry pocky stick. It's next to food court but not inside food court. For me, I love ice cream at its simplest form, this place is just too fancy:XD

Stopped by for some boba because we were in the area. Got two Taro smoothie with boba. Forgot to tell them 50% sweet but it wasn't too sweet when we got them. I really can't stand boba, when it is too sweet. The worker was really friendly so shout out to the worker! I would definitely recommend this place for your boba needs. read more

Cafe Meli Mellow is located inside the South Bay Galleria serving delicious coffee (hot or iced), teas, smoothies, and lemonade. This dessert place is inside South Bay Galleria. It is up on the 3rd floor by food court. I have seen yelpers posting their treats here, so I was excited to try this place Upon arrival, there is only one man, who is working behind the counter. He was friendly and helpful. I decided I had to get the Taiyaki Fish filled with their ice cream. I see the staff lovely filled my fish with nutella before swirling in Vanilla Ice cream. I decided to drizzle Choco Sprinkles on my fish. He topped it off with a chocolate pocky. What I do like about this is it is fresh, light and simple. The ice cream is light as air and creamy. The treat did make my sweet tooth happy, however, I wish there were more options to chose from. I only had the option of vanilla ice cream. I need more flavors please.The only two cereal toppings were choco and fruity pebble. I think if we offer more options, this place could be more sensational and special. When my son and his girlfriend told me of this new place in the mall, I was so excited! However, I wasn't excited that Dairy Queen was no longer here... it was the last one near us, so it was bittersweet news. That was around Oct/Nov 2017. On to the cheery news, this place is quite a treat! I don't even have to drive all the way to Koreatown anymore for a Taiyaki filled with ice cream! This cafe is located on the third floor of the South Bay Galleria Mall just beyond the food court area. The first time I came here, my family was with me. My son & I each got the fishy. I ordered mine with Fruity Pebbles. He got Choco Sprinkles on his. First, they spread some Nutella on the inside. Then they fill it with ice cream and top it off with cereal. They only have vanilla ice cream right now, their other machine which usually has chocolate has been broken for a few months. I wished they would have green tea, taro, or any other flavor choices to rotate in. The Vanilla is creamy. I haven't had Dairy Queen ice cream in a long time, but I'm wondering if this isn't the same stuff. The Taiyaki is fresh and has a nice texture and taste. Kimberly got a Milk Tea with Cotton Candy on top. What I love about this place is that they spin the cotton candy on the spot, when ordered. I think they (or maybe it's just me?) focus on the taiyaki and drinks. There is a picture of a hot dog and a drink. Other than the hot dog, I don't think they serve anything hot. Anyways, I have only eaten Taiyakis from here. It is my delicious treat! When the next craving for this fish dessert hits, I will certainly be back! read more

[Review #434] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (86/100) I accidentally found Café Meli Mellow at the South Bay Galleria during one of my fast shopping runs with H. I was searching for summer clothes when the cafe stopped me in my tracks. Fast walking from one side of the mall to the other, both me & H slammed on the brakes when we smelled the delicious scents of taiyaki wafting out of Café Meli Mellow. And they have so much to choose from: soft serve ice creams, smoothies, lemonades, coffees, etc. H really wanted a TAIYAKI (fish-shaped cone) VANILLA SOFT SERVE with RAINBOW TOPPING (Fruity Pebbles & strawberry Choco stick). It took awhile because the taiyaki cones were made fresh & needed some time to cool off, otherwise the ice cream would melt, before filling it. The ice cream is milky, smooth & creamy (no ice crystals here!) with a hint of vanilla... not overly sweet, just right. Most of the sweetness came from the Nutella spread in the cone. The cone itself, though thin but crisp, held up well from start until we finished our last bite; I thought it might disintegrate from the moisture of the ice cream, it didn't, quite possibly because the Nutella spread acted as a barrier. :-) The cafe is located just east of the food court on the 3rd level between Windsor Fashion & Sunglass Hut. Price points tip over to the expensive side & portions are fair. Service is pleasant but slow; we were the only customers & it took about 10-mins. because of the taiyaki cone. There's a bit of something for everyone at Café Meli Mellow... come get hooked on this fish, it's a guaranteed catch! ;-) Recommended: Taiyaki Vanilla Soft Serve w/Rainbow Topping. read more

Best soft serve ice cream in the South Bay! If you're looking to stop by here, know that it is located inside the mall on the third floor adjacent but not IN the food court. If you're well versed in your South Bay Galleria geography, it is right next to Windsor. At a glance, it's a pretty low maintenance shop with frozen goodies and taiyaki. I have only tried their milk soft serve ice cream so I can't speak to more on their menu. I'll definitely be trying some other offerings soon. However, the milk soft serve ice cream is worth writing an entire review about. It is smooth, creamy, and not at all icy in texture (a huge occurrence in soft serve). The flavor is milky and sweet but not at all loaded with sugar, which is a huge plus. It is the perfect summer treat. I do wish they had bigger portions, the price is just a tad over the border of pricey for the size. However, it hasn't stopped us from coming back so I guess they know how to play the game. Wait time is hit or miss here, sometimes it's super quick because we're the only ones in line. Sometimes you might wait 10-15 minutes for one cone because there's only two people working a long line. Hopefully they can figure it out soon before summer rush hits! read more
Located on the 3rd floor of the mall. We were in the area looking for a dessert spot, and were drawn to the taiyaki. We also found out that they have bubble tea, so we of course had to try it! First of all, this was my first taiyaki, and it was pretty (and) good. It was almost too pretty to eat, but we were hungry. There was a lot of vanilla ice cream that came with the taiyaki, but as were eating, the dessert mostly tasted like waffle with vanilla ice cream. Here's what I mean, the fruity pebbles and pocky sticks at the top were just that toppings. I didn't think that there was enough of the toppings to eat with the rest once you reached the "fish part." The vanilla ice cream was very thick, and kind of reminded me of McDonald's vanilla ice cream soft serve. Now, I give 3 stars because of the bubble tea. Because I'm basic, I ordered the Thai Tea with bubbles. This Thai tea was probably one of the sweetest that I ever had. It literally tasted like butterscotch, which I'm pretty sure is not what Thai Tea is supposed to be. It was so sweet that I couldn't finish drinking it. Hopefully not all of their drinks are this super sweet. read more
I love Taiyaki's! I saw this place when going to the mall and noticed they make the fish shaped taiyaki, which usually is filled with bean paste but these are filled with soft serve. The dough itself is golden brown on the outside has a nice chewy but soft texture! Its so much better then your average donut! The soft serve is very creamy and not overly sweet at all. The Taiyaki is served fresh, right off the grill/pan and they add a light spread of nutella inside, which makes the taiyaki and the soft serve sweet. I loved everything abut the taiyaki and soft serve combination, is so delicious! Will definitely stop by this place again! Yum! read more
I'm writing this after inhaling my taiyaki embarassingly quickly. Unsurprisingly, I highly recommend the taiyaki here! The owner was just the coolest guy with such attention to detail, he even took the time to skim off a little of the melty first pump of soft serve so that none of that melted ice cream drippage prematurely soaks the bottom of the taiyaki pastry part. He also allows the taiyaki to cool a bit on a rack so that when the ice cream hits the pastry it's not just turning into a puddle before you can even get down to the pastry part. He first smears a layer of Nutella inside of the taiyaki before adding the milk-flavored sort-serve, then you get the choice of topping your ice cream with fruity pebbles crumbles or chocolate sprinkles as your topping. He coordinates your choice of topping with a strawberry or chocolate pocky, which is frankly, so adorable and who doesn't love complimentary pocky? I've had taiyaki soft serve elsewhere in LA and I'm going to be real, I loved this place far more because the initial care the owner put into it constructing my taiyaki ice cream made for a much more civil and cleaner eating experience. It's so much easier to eat because the ice cream remained intact until I was done with it. It's actually a really cute dessert to eat with your date! Love this place and can't wait to come back and try more! read more

Stumbled upon this place by accident as I was looking for dessert in the South Bay area. I was very surprised to find that this taiyaki ice cream joint was located in the south bay! Located on the 3rd floor near the food court. It's right next to the elevator and windsor. I got the milk ice cream taiyaki with rainbow toppings. The milk ice cream tasted more of just regular ice cream, not really milky. BUT the taiyaki was really good! The light coat of nutella was also a nice touch to it. Usually when you eat these types of desserts, the taiyaki is usually soggy from the ice cream melting and whatnot, but the taiyaki was nice and crunchy by the time I finished all my ice cream. Glad that meli mellow is in the south bay! read more

We were really sad to see the DQ/Orange Julius leave, but now we're so happy to have Cafe Meli Mellow at the South Bay Galleria! You can find this yummy dessert spot on the third floor, near the food court, next door to Windsor. Service here is outstanding. The gentleman that works there (by himself on most days!) is so kind and helpful. He answers any questions we have and works really hard. When it gets busy and there are multiple orders, wait time is a little longer, but he always makes sure everything comes out perfect. They serve an assortment of drinks as well as ice cream taiyaki. He makes them in small batches so they're always warm and fresh. There's a special iron for them so you can watch and see how they're made into the cute little fish shape. My favorite item there is the milk tea boba with a giant mountain of cotton candy on top! Every time I order it, people who walk by stare at the cotton candy. It really is a spectacle. Next time you're looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, check out Cafe Meli Mellow! I know you'll love it. read more

Super excited to have an Asian dessert place so close by! FOOD: Pretty good. I got the fish ice cream with fruity pebbles! (+)They stuck a strawberry pocky in it which was a nice touch :). It is easy to miss on the menu but heads up for nut allergies. THE FISH HAVE NUTELLA INSIDE OF THEM. I'm fairly positive you can just ask to not have it in the fish. The ice cream is milk ice cream. It does not taste like regular soft-serve. (+) It goes really well with the cereal topping! (-)The fish itself was a bit harder than other ones that I have tried before. (+) The shape of the fish was also wider at the mouth= better for containing ice cream. SERVICE: (+)There was only one slightly older man working there, but he was really nice! The food did not come out super fast, but the wait was not bad. AMBIANCE: Casual, (+)Insta-worthy food. Not really specific seating for the place. PARKING: It's inside a mall. Underrated small cafe in the mall that has one of the best bobas I have tasted in Torrance area. If you happen to be hanging out at Southbay Galleria make sure you stop by and check it out. Their milk teas are of perfect balance of sweet and creaminess. Their bobas are fresh, have a hint of sweetness and not chewy. I hope they open up another spot in Torrance! read more
I had to taking a shopping detour on my way up from Buena Park. I like this mall because it's not as hectic as most of those fancy new Westfield Malls. I happened to walk by Meli Mellow on my way to the Wetzel's Pretzel. It's my birthday month and my free birthday pretzel is about to expire. That's the backstory FYI. While the outward presentation didn't blow my mind, the menu items and the fact that there was a short line influenced me to take a closer look. They have a fairly large menu. In fact it was too large a selection to make a decision if you're just walking by. It's not a "one glancer" if you know what I mean! I had to Yelp it in order to see if I was going to order something other than a Milk Tea with Boba. I asked for a Taiyaki but they were closing, so we settled on a Milk Tea and Green Tea boba instead. It's not a bad consolation prize! Both beverages came out quickly and cold. Both drinks were flavored sweet and strong. The boba was grade A stuff to make it a delicious overall beverage and a good spot to visit when I come back down to the South Bay! High 5 to the local Yelp contributors for pointing this place out! The whole fam enjoyed this treat. This is my reward for being well behaved today and I deserve it! read more
