Curry chicken with rice and peas and cabbage.
Omaira L.

As a Caribbean gyal (not girl *wink) I take my Caribbean food very seriously. I have to say I was a a bit disappointed with the food from Negril. It lacked the flavor I'm used to tasting in authentic Caribbean/ Jamaican food. I ordered the curry chicken, rice and peas, cabbage with a side of plantains. Everything was reasonably priced and the curry chicken was a 2.5 out of 5 and was bland. The rice and peas was mostly rice and seemed the cook stood from Jamaica and threw the peas in (iykyk). The cabbage had little to no seasoning or extra vegetables. Typically we Caribbeans add carrots, onions and other seasonings to our cabbage dish but this was more like just plain ol' boiled cabbage with bits of carrots. I likely will not order from here again unless it's the last resort to be honest. The owner was very friendly though and explained he was currently serving from a food truck and not his building b/c the city would not allow him serve from the building until he paved his parking lot and I'm all about supporting small local business owners. If he just adds some of the flavor of his personality to his food then we'll be good!! :)

Between Good 2 Go and Negril Caribbean restaurant I'd have to say this is my go to for our Jamaican food cravings in this area. Everything is always made to order and has such a deep layer of flavors. It's hard to explain the taste but it's amazing. I love their oxtails here, and what I think has sold me on this place as well is I can order ackee and saltfish all week long and it's always so good, honestly it's my absolute favorite thing to get here. Their sides too are really good and service is always friendly. They do offer dine-in as well but this a small establishment so we always opt to take it to go. Food is delicious though and servings are enough to share, places like this is why I love local spots over chain restaurants.

Oxtails, macaroni, and cornbread.

I was in the hinesville area for work last week. I saw that Good To Go Jamaican Restaurant was near…read moremy hotel, and it had solid reviews. The place wasn't super crowded probably due to it being a week day. I honestly was not super hungry when I went, so I originally tried to order a chicken patty and soup. They were out of those items, so I tried the curry chicken and my dinner mate had the oxtails and curry goat. Service was fast and the food was really good. The oxtails, curry goat, and jerk chicken were all so tender and seasoned properly. It was a good choice to try. I really enjoyed the food and would definitely try this place again. I'd love to try the patties next time.

So, obviously I have to look for a Caribbean spot. The first time I had the oxtails. Listen. God put di ox pon di earth just for this restaurant to cook for me. No exaggeration. I almost ate di bone. Right now. I'm eating the jerk snapper with plantain. Ain't nothing but a fossil left. You hear me? I would post a pic, but yall like judging people . This is first rate Jamaican food done really well. I had oxtails a couple of patties, jerk chicken, and carrot cake and everything was on point! I especially loved the oxtail gravy which they poured plenty over my rice and peas and I thought the jerk seasoning was authentic. This is a small spot in a strip mall with a couple of tables so this is mostly a takeout operation. But the young lady that waited on me was very helpful, explaining a lot of of the menu, what was fresh and what the days deals were. Definitely plan on making this one of my go to spots.

I am from Brooklyn NY but live in California where there are hardly any Jamaican spots in my area. So when I'm in town I make sure to support this place. There are always people there, all kinds and the service is great! It's a nice place to sit down and eat as there are plenty of tables, unlike most places. Now to the food. After reading some reviews I don't want to be repetitive. But this place is a gem in Bluffton…read more The place is super nice, you feel relaxed as soon as you come in. Decoration is amazing. I had the Crispy Shrooms. Really good. Jollof rice is definitely a different and unexpected texture and flavor, very good. For the main dish was the Lobster Cashew curry. Absolutely beautifully presented and delicious. I should've follow my server advice about the rice. jollof rice must pair really good with meat. Not that much with seafood. I think the prices are very reasonable even for the wine. Service is impecable. Music Level perfect. Definitely coming back to try all the menu.

The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was beautiful and very comfy. We liked the vibe very much. So far, we are thinking this is going to be a 5 star experience. Unfortunately the wine we ordered is no longer being served so we had to pivot to a different one. Which was fine. So, onto the food. My hubby is not as adventurous as I am in terms of trying new foods. He decided to play it safe. We started with the cornbread. It was served in a small cast iron skillet with butter and jam. The cornbread & jam was good. The butter was a bit odd. It was a whipped/fluffy consistency but the flavor was lacking. Honestly, it sort of reminded me more of old school Crisco from a can than a nice whipped butter. Hubs decided to get the ceaser with cabbage and the Mac & cheese. I ordered the cashew curry & Carolina Gold rice. Hubs absolutely loved his salad. He said it was the most flavorful salad he ever had. I am not a fan of cabbage but I tasted it and he is right, the flavor was unbelievably good. This was the best thing we tasted on our visit. I also tried a bite of his Mac & cheese and it was not something I would order here. I got an overwhelming taste of onion, which is not my favorite thing. Hubs thought it was ok, but not the best he's tasted. I was very excited to try the cashew curry. Unfortunately, it fell flat of my expectations. I expected a complex flavor profile with lots of layers. I got the earthiness & umami. But not much else. The veggies were good. But the lobster was chewy/rubbery in texture. I added Carolina Gold rice and it was ok, but sort of consistency of day old rice without a lot of flavor. It was very filling though, so we skipped dessert. Overall, service was 4 or 5 stars but the food (other than the salad) just fell a little flat for us. Not sure if we caught them on an off night food-wise.
