The view of the river is amazing. The shrimp tacos are delicious. The hush puppies are the best.

Location: PERFECT in a marina on the beautiful Ogeechee River. Server: very nice and attentive. Food: very inconsistent. She-crab soup/very good and hot. Shrimp and crab dip/ wow! Low country boil/ worst I've ever had!! The ingredients were not cooked together! Only had shrimp, no crab, the shrimp were over cooked. The potatoes were hard as rocks! The sausage was good but tiny scarce chunks. The prices were VERY reasonable. *** This place could be the PERFECT little seafood place right by Fort McAllister State Park, but the owners need to tighten it up! We are here at the park for 2 weeks and WON'T be going back. So disappointed! read more

Fish Tales is one of our favorite spots in Richmond Hill! The seafood is always fresh and delicious, and their drink menu is amazing (I can never resist the Banana Banshee). The atmosphere is perfect--whether we sit outside by the water on a nice day or inside their cozy dining area, we always have a great time. Such a cute restaurant in the perfect location. We dined here Saturday night & enjoyed it! Super casual vibe but nice vibe! Sits right on the intercostal & has some good views for sunset. Lots of options for drinks! I told my husband it felt like a beach restaurant not at the beach. Our waitress was wonderful & very attentive. We ordered the grouper bites as an appetizer. It was fine, but kind of just there. We probably would try another appetizer next time. I ordered the tuna bowl & all the flavors worked really well together. I wish the tuna was a little more raw/seared vs fully cooked. My husband got the fish tacos & said they were good. He did say the rice wasn't "fried" rice & he'd try something next time. Overall, good spot for dinner. We'll be back! read more

Very relaxed atmosphere at the marina. Basically a local bar but with some pretty good food. The hush puppies are the star of the show! The low country boil was tasty and well seasoned. Overall, just a super casual, cool local spot to get a drink and a decent bite. Not the best of the best but still pretty good for a local bar. The waitress was attentive enough. The margaritas were a little hit and miss. My friend and I each ordered 3 while we were there and each one tasted different lol one was SUPER strong, then the next just tasted like margarita mix and then the next just tasted like salt. We're not super picky or anything but whoever was making the drinks didn't have any type of consistency but still pretty alright, again for what kind of place it is. read more

Very cool! Similar to The Wyld in Savannah, but with more indoor seating and by the marina. This place has a bit more access for people getting in and out of the river of their boats, and there's a bait/gift shop as well. It also has a bit of a tiki vibe. The food is pretty good, the shrimp for the salad were huge, and everything tasted fresh. The view is more of boats than water and landscape, but cool nonetheless. Great service and the food is priced well. There are even specials, way more options than the Wyld. read more

Fish Tales is a wonderful casual spot! If you want good seafood and service in Richmond Hill you have found the place. They are located on the road to Fort McAllister. You cannot miss the restaurant on the left side of the road. There is a dirt parking lot across the street. The restaurant gives views of the water and the docked boats. The majority of the seating is outside. But indoor seating is available too. No reservations are taken here, it is first come first serve. We went on Saturday night for dinner. The wait was forty five minutes to sit outside. There was no wait indoors. We sat inside. The indoor space has large windows. You still get to see the views. The food was delicious! The pickle chips are a great starter. Also a generous portion size. I got the half size low country boil. It had lots of shrimp! I was incredibly pleased. A lot of restaurants give you a ton of potatoes for filler. They did not do that here. It was equal amounts at least to my taste. The hush puppies were yum too. My husband enjoyed his fish sandwich. The bun, fish, and toppings ratio were on point. I ordered a beer and he ordered a cocktail. The drinks on their cocktail menu are more towards a sweeter side. But you can of course have any drink made at the bar. I happen to like beer with my low country boil. I was happy with experience and will return. Nice ambiance, not very busy. we were a party of thirteen and almost everyone had a different dish. No one raved about their meal, but there were few leftovers either. I had a specialty salad that contained very fresh ingredients and blackened shrimp which were very pedestrian...one of the tortillas was like shoe leather Prices were reasonable, our waitress was quite good. The place is trapped with very poor electronic billing. The place was half empty at 6:00. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. read more

We wanted to get away from Savannah for a meal and it did not disappoint. We started with the hushpuppies with honey butter. The honey butter was so good I needed a second cup. The hushpuppies were crunchy, but soft. They didn't make your mouth sore after eating. I got the shecrab soup for a meal and it was tasty. There was a bit too heavy of sherry or wine I think? But the rest of the flavors helped. Would I order it again? Probably just a cup as a side. The fish sandwich was enjoyed, but the fish could have used a thicker piece. It was just a smaller piece of fish and I could have used more of the fish. The French fries were delicious too. Gobbled those up like no tomorrow. The staff were super friendly and the view made for a nice evening. We went on a weekday and it was not crowded at all. Overall, we would probably come back again when in town if we wanted a nice escape. I did not drink, but the drink menu was up my alley with the fruity island drinks! read more

I decided to stop here for dinner while driving through Savannah heading down to FL, and boy was that a good call! Though there was a long wait to be seated (quoted over an hour for two people), we decided to try our luck at the bar. It was Labor Day so maybe the wait was longer due to the holiday. But it turns out you can order food at the bar and there was seating available, score! We ordered fish tacos, 1/2 pound peel n eat shrimp and hush puppies. The fish tacos were made with swai and I like the Asian slaw it came with. They were pretty filling. I thought the hush puppies were okay, but my boyfriend really enjoyed them. I thought they could've been more crispy. But we both agreed the peel n eat shrimp was the winner of the meal. The shrimp was flavorful and tasty- I wish I had ordered a full pound. I'm glad we looked around before ordering because it seemed like every table had the peel n eat so I'd recommend it. The added bonus of dining at Fish Tales is the outdoor dining area where you have a great view of the water and marina. Since we sat at the bar, we were outside and facing the water (bonus!) I was happy to have a beautiful view of the boats and water while enjoying my food. We had hush puppies to start, they were small but had a good flavor. I had shrimp and grits for my main dish; a good number of shrimp placed over grits with cheese and a bit of bacon, served with some yummy butter toast. I had the gumbo, and it had the right amount of kick to it... I would absolutely order again. We also as a table had Hush Puppies and Cheese Curds - the later was ok, but many thought they were not much different than getting mozzarella sticks, which they should not be mistake for. Slight nit here, they were good, just not what was hoped for. Otherwise, we all enjoyed what we got - there were 6 of us. The staff is super friendly and seems more of a family oriented type staff because they're generally younger and more casual. Today we decided to come for lunch, hoping for it not to be as packed. We were right. They had a lot of outdoor seating and the staff wears masks. Although some of the seating is in the sun with no shade, they did put out misters. Today I went for the coconut shrimp, which came with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. I also got the Ogeechee Punch cocktail which was delicious! Sadly, they use a lot of solid plastic straws. Being on the water, they should be more eco friendly and get paper straws. read more

BLUF: I will never come here again for food. The view here is awesome. The night I went we sat outside and it was beautiful. That being said everything else was mediocre at best. We went at around 5pm in a Saturday and were seated immediately. The food was fair. It wasn't bad but was not special at all. My complaint was the service. It was terrible. We ordered an appetizer it was brought out with our entrees. She didn't bring plates for the appetizer. She forgot my 5 year olds meal. So we had to wait 5-10minutes longer so my family could eat. We were never brought napkins we literally had to ask for everything twice. This could be understandable if the place was busy, but it wasn't. The good is okay nothing special st all. The view is nice but the service I found incredibly poor. I would consider coming here for drinks but never again would I eat here. Without the view this would be a 1 star. read more

Been going here for years. Today was the last time. The shrimp and fish was so dark it was closer to black than brown, I asked the Chef when the last time the oil was changed? He told me today which is clearly BS. The fish had no taste and was slimy. They took the fish back and gave us more shrimp. The chef told us to stay away from the coconut shrimp and the fish bc they are frozen. Okay so why the F is it on the menu?? Absolute garbage seriously. Wasn't comped at all either.
