1 Star - Profits Over Patients: A Shameful Practice Do not go to this dental office unless you're ready to be treated like a walking ATM rather than a patient. My experience mirrored another review I read afterward almost word for word--which only confirmed how common and systemic these tactics are at this office. Like that reviewer's husband, I came in for a routine cleaning fully covered by my insurance. Instead, I was subjected to over an hour of X-rays and sales pitches from a rotating cast of staff members, trying to push everything from Invisalign (because of a minor gap), to a deep cleaning, two crowns, a filling repair, and even a wisdom tooth extraction--all totaling nearly $7,000, of which $4,700 would be out-of-pocket. When I made it clear I was only there for a basic annual cleaning, they refused to perform it, saying the other (expensive) procedures needed to take priority. Let me be clear: this is completely unethical. Never in my life have I been denied a standard cleaning because I declined thousands of dollars in additional work I neither requested nor consented to. To make matters worse, they tried to pressure me into signing an "agreement to pay" form before even scheduling any appointment or obtaining my consent to treatment. The staff member downplayed it, saying it was "no big deal." I'm a contracts attorney--I knew better. The document was likely unenforceable, but their attempt to coerce a signature before care was even provided is utterly inappropriate and predatory. What's most disturbing is that this isn't an isolated incident. Other reviewers have had the exact same experience: baiting patients in with insurance-covered cleanings, then refusing care unless they agree to high-priced procedures and out-of-pocket costs. This practice is not only unprofessional--it's exploitative. This clinic places profit above patient care, and their tactics are misleading, high-pressure, and frankly, shameful. I had a good experience! Dr. R and staff were all nice. I came as a new patient, took X-rays, had an exam and a cleaning. Sara and Fatemah did a good job cleaning my teeth, it was comfortable and did not hurt. I did not have any cavities or needed treatment! I like my dentist, i really do but today's visit was almost comical. I had some crown work done about 6 months ago and after biting into a nut, it created an issue and shooting pain in that tooth. I called their office and asked for an appointment and I explained to the girl on the phone what happened and she asked me why I needed to come in...huh? Am I the only person that doesn't like pain? I told her that it was the same tooth I had them do crown work on 6 months ago. When I arrived for my appointment, the hygienist wanted to know where was the pain coming from...huh...well....my tooth, right? She wanted to know which one, i told her it was on the lower left...she wanted to know which one? I said well...if you can get me a mirror..I can tell you which one...but it's the one you didn't fix when I was here six months ago....yeah, that tooth. It was funny because after they took the x-ray and looked at the tooth...they all referred to it as number 19. See...even they have to give it a number so they know which one they are talking about. Four of my family members had dental appointments on the morning of July 11th. My husband specifically scheduled his appointment for 7:00am, so that he could still get the train to work in DC. When I arrived with 2 of the other children for their 8:00am appointments, my husband was still there waiting. When I asked what the problem was, I was told his appointment was for 8:00am. The problem is, that was a lie! We have an appointment card (attached) that proves his appointment was at 7:00am. You should know that he missed the last train, had to drive into DC, then spent 2 hours trying to find parking because all of the garages were full. He had to take a half day of leave instead of the 1.5 hours initially planned. Your scheduling screw up caused someone else's day to be screwed because he lost time AND money. We did receive an "oh well, sorry not sorry" spirited apology from the person at the desk. read more

I went regularly when I lived in the area. They told me that I needed several fillings; I had never had a dentist tell me I needed so many fillings. I tend to trust the professionals, though, so I went along with it. I got terrible headaches from the fillings not being filed down properly, and I was told to come back free of charge for any adjustments needed. I did so and later received a bill! At this point I had already moved so I just paid it because I didn't want to fight with them. And to make matters worse, I still had headache problems from the poor job they did. I found a new dentist in my new city after two of my fillings fell out within six months of getting them in. When I went for my consultation, they fixed these fillings and were audibly appalled at the state of the other fillings. They fixed them and filed them down free of charge. The dentist actually said out loud, "Whoever did this to your teeth - I can't believe they're practicing. I'm sorry this happened to you." In short, I knew Neibauer wasn't great, but I didn't realize just how bad they were until I found such a great dentist. I'm sharing this review so that others can be warned. read more

I recently moved to Fredericksburg and was looking for a good dentist. I tried Neibauer in Central Park 3/2017 and found it to be a chaotic, semi-unprofessional environment, a disappointing experience and they performed unnecessary treatment on me. I ended up spending a couple hundred dollars on something I didn't need. Additionally, the hygienist and dentist were in disagreement on the measurement of my gums by several millimeters....shouldn't this be a standard measurement? Also, be wary of the upsell of the product for "acid damage" to your teeth. They seemed to be pushing that to other clients around me. Regarding billing - it took 4 months to get a refund I was owed and I had to provide them with the amount I should be owed because their ledger information was inaccurate. I see many positive reviews from other patients, so maybe it was just my experience. I came from a dentist who had her own practice. She was honest, professional and didn't have to meet certain quotas for the corporation who owns them. Just be careful if you go here and they try to push treatments on you when you've never had issues. Will not be going back again and will continue to share my experience to others. read more

I am not a fan of the dentist. I'm not afraid of them or anything; I've just never had an exceptional experience. Until now. I was impressed with the openness and brightness of the waiting room. The counter staff was friendly and had all of my paperwork ready to go. I was just there for a standard cleaning, x-rays and the regular checkup... I really enjoyed my hygienist, Jenn. She explained everything she was doing and never made anything uncomfortable. (I have really sensitive teeth so I can tell when someone has been messing around in there, usually cleaning can be rather painful for me.) I also saw Dr. Benson... and he did something that no other dentist has ever done for me. He actually sat down and discussed what concerns I have. I've spoken with other dentists before, but they are usually talking AT me, telling me what I need to have done. Dr. Benson actually sat to discuss my issues, my concern, and MY TEETH! I'm impressed. I'll be referring quite a few people to this office. read more

I have problems finding dentists that I can trust due to a bad experience with one as a child that followed me into adulthoon. The dentists at Neibauer are excellent, especially Dr. Benson. He is careful t oeplain what procedures are needed and to cause as little pain as possible. So why only three stars? They are open Saturdays which makes it cnovient for me as I work in DC during the week and ususally don't get home until 6pm. However, out of 4 appointments that I have had on Saturdays, they have only been able to keep one of them...the first one, which I assume was to win me over as a cutomer. But what good is Saturday service if your appointment has to be rescheduled every time? read more

Too enthusiastic with the numbing sometimes. As a diabetic it's nice to be able to eat when I need to eat rather than waiting hours to feel my face again. Other than that things are fine. Bring your patience, as with any office (doctor, dental etc) there are emergencies that pop up which can push you back by a half hour or so. Not a big deal. read more

It is rare that people write reviews for positive experiences but I feel so taken care of here that I felt the need to, and am shocked by the negative ones. They must have changed everything around the past two years because we haven't experienced less then amazing care. My partner and I have had several cleanings here that were all great, the techs and doctor Benson were amazing. Then I had my first cavity and was so upset and they reassured me, explained everything, and someone in the front office went over everything billing/insurance related. The appointment went well and I thought that was it for dental emergencies. My partner then had a work accident resulting in a seizure, lip sutures, and two broken teeth. We called them from the hospital and we had an appt within a day. The empathy and warmth we felt from everyone was amazing during this stressful time. The office staff have been helpful navigating the workers comp claim, care credit (we initially thought we would have to pay), and appt scheduling. The female doctor was fun, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about how he looked and felt with his new smile. When we finally got the real teeth in (he had temporary caps for a wedding and due to covid we didnt come in for months) she took time making sure it lined up well, gave him a mirror to see and asked what I thought. We all agreed the teeth were great and you could tell the doctor was excited about how well it looked which always makes you feel good as a patient. She even remembered us from the first visit, and the office staff are super friendly and remembered us telling them about the accident and the male receptionist has been fun and knows our car. Part of my bonded tooth broke off this morning. My regular dentist was closed until Monday. They were not only able to get me in today but were extremely nice about it. The took my insurance too! The Dr. was able to fix my tooth in about 30 minutes. She was very nice and explained everything that she was going to do. She made sure I was pain free throughout the procedure. Super nice staff too. If I didn't already have a dentist I liked, I might go to this dentist. read more

I left this practice over five years ago as they were pushing me to have two crowns done. Five years later needed a quick checkup, everything is fine! Oh, wait they still are trying to sell me on these crowns, to the point they are refusing to revise paperwork that now is preventing me from deploying overseas for work. They do not take into consideration the patient and how they are feeling. They are nothing more than snake oil salesmen, my teeth eventually will need these when the 20+-year-old silver fillings degrade of which they have not to the point of sensitivity and pain. I called and was told I was not scheduled. I would give 0 stars if I could. This office is a SCAM- avoid at all costs! I've had several problems with the billing department, and it ends up that my insurance was denying claims for Crowns and Root Canals because they "weren't done properly and wouldn't last long" according to my insurance- so my insurance wouldn't pay for shoddy work. But I was required to pay for a Crown that wouldn't even stay on longer than 30 days. RUN do not walk away from this office. From the beginning, I should have turned right around and walked out the door. The office staff and dental assistant were arguing in front of me about how someone lost my paperwork. When I went in for my cleaning, there were no actual rooms. There were just wall dividers where I could hear everyone else in the office getting their teeth cleaned. Then they put cheap plastic sunglasses on me to protect my eyes from the spray while cleaning my teeth, but I believe they should be trained not to get water in my eye in the first place. After the cleaning the doctor came in to check my x-rays. She told me I had seven cavities. I thought this was weird since it had been six months since my last cleaning when I had zero cavities and I wasn't feeling any pain. The hygienist also said my teeth looked good. The doctor also tried to sell me on cosmetic surgery and teeth whitening which I found rude. When I went to get a second opinion at another dentist, which was difficult because they were not handing over my x-rays willingly, the doctor found no cavities. This dentist is ripping people off by telling them they have cavities and need unnecessary fillings. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I was looking for a dentist office in the area and it's intimidating how many there are if you google Dentist office near me. My friend suggested to me Neibauer. So I gave them a try. I came in for a check up and cleaning. They are very convenient because they're open til 7 pm so my appointment was later in the day meaning I didn't have to lose too many hours at work. Daniel and Andrea checked me in and they both made me feel at home asking me how day is going and wondering how my family is doing. Unlike other offices that give me a piece of paper and have me sit down without asking me anything and only talking to me to call me in to the back. Kathryn was my hygienist, after she looked at my teeth she told me I had a small cavity and I also needed a deep cleaning and explained to me what more is included. She's so nice and was always worried if I was in any pain. I didn't feel any pain throughout the whole cleaning. She did a great job and can't wait to come in for my next cleaning. Dr. Racynzska is super sweet and funny. She did a great job on my filling. She did have to numb me, but overall I was comfortable and had no pain. Neibauer is a great place to come to and I will recommend everyone I know. Last thing I love about this office is that everyone asks me how I'm doing personally and they connect to me more like a friend rather than just another patient. read more

I was in a great deal of pain as a result of an infected tooth. They were able to see me quickly and without an appointment. The staff were friendly, prompt, and courteous. I did experience a great deal of pain during my extraction but that was due to infection. Each time I visited the office, I have been seen by the doctor within 5 minutes or less. I will definitely return for all of my dental needs. read more

Myrtle the hygienist is worth coming here for your regular six month cleanings. They have the latest technology and I appreciate it. You get seen by three people and assistant who preps your teeth, a hygienist who polishes and scrapes, and then the doctor. I have been watching five surface cavities for a year the doctor doesn't push the fillings. But gives an real honest take of how bad they are. My spouse got a crown done here in 2012 and was not super satisfied but they are more than willing to make it right in order to keep a customer and I appreciate that. The Neibauer chain also seems to really take of their staff by sending them to training regularly. read more

I made an appointment at this place because a little piece of my tooth was broken and it was only to fill it was something minimal when the dentist who attended me arrived spoke to the secretary so that she could tell me the prices and that she could not complete that little piece of tooth because I needed veneers that cost more than $ 2,500 but I told him that I did not have the money to do that to solve the problem for me only momentarily and when you have the money, he would do the primer for me, they did not want to do that because I had to pay the $ 2,500 or they didn't do anything to me but nevertheless they charged me the consultation of $ 59 for some X-rays that I don't need because mine was something aesthetic. The truth was I was disappointed because I went to give away $ 59 and they did absolutely nothing to me but see my teeth without solving anything. I will never return to that place again. read more

I just moved to the northern Virginia area and had been searching for a dental office. It's been tricky because my insurance is an extension of my Veterans medical benefits under Delta Dental. This particular clinic came up as a clinic that accepts my insurance and I made an appointment. What an awesome experience all the way around! Both the hygienist and dentist were very nice. I can't say enough positive things about this office. Growing up in Manassas, I randomly chose a dentist one day. Several years later I find myself continuing to come here despite moving closer to Dc and having plenty of other options closer by. The entire staff from the receptionists at the front, to the hygienists and assistants, all the way to both doctors are incredible. During my most recent visit I was in extreme discomfort coming into the office due to a back injury I had sustained. This prevented me from being able to stay seated in the chair for extended periods of time. Dr. Raczynska and her staff accommodated me by allowing me to stand while they did some of the work that they could do standing up, and allowing me to intermittently stand up when able to between procedures. All in all I would absolutely recommended this office for new patients. Every time I come in here greets you by name, and makes you feel like part of their family. read more

Make sure you ask for the total cost of service because what I thought I was going to pay for 2 visits split half now half later which is what I was told was not what it turned out to be. I went to Neibauer Dental Care in Manassas with a $59 Cleaning, Exam & X-ray coupon. I paid in full at the appointment. They insisted on copying my health insurance card even though I assured them that I DID NOT have dental insurance. But that didn't stop them from trying to bill MY insurance for $541.00. But my coupon said all for $59! Bad business and I will never go back. read more

Dr. Benson is awesome! I went in for a second opinion on treatment options for TMD. He was 100% honest with me, asked questions the specialist I saw earlier in the day did not, and also did a quick exam on the exact places I had issues. He recommended a few alternative routes to take before taking what the specialist said (which will save me thousands). They will definitely be getting my future dental needs. read more

They advertise they are open on Saturdays, but the last two times I have scheduled Saturday appointments I received a call that they needed to reschedule because they are going to be closed. Got there 10 minutes early with paperwork already completed and it still took 20 minutes for me to get seen. Then the hygienist only used a scaler to "clean" my teeth. I have never had a "dental emergency" until today. I chipped a pretty good chunk off of a molar. I live close-by so I drove there, they assessed, drilled, fitted me for a temporary and permanent crown, and was back home in under 1.5 hours. From the moment I walked in everyone was helpful, courteous, and made my needs as a patient a priority. My family and I have been going for years and this incident just ensured our loyalty as patients. Both doctors have always been amazing when I have depended on them for help. Everyone who assisted me today made me feel important and appreciated. This could have turned into an awful afternoon but instead they made me feel like my needs were their only concern. In a day in age where customer service lacks in all fields, I was met with renewed faith. Sounds dramatic but if you are ever have a similar situation you will hope you are provided the same service and care. Thank you!!! read more

3 Strikes - They're out Strike 1- My 22 year old daughter went to Neibauer this summer for a cleaning. She received a filling at the time. The tooth has been extremely sensitive every since she received the filling and she is no longer able to chew on that side of her mouth due to pain when she chews. As she turned 23 in October and is no longer covered under our dental insurance, she's stuck with the painful filling indefinitely. Strike 2 - The crown from h---. I was told I had a cracked tooth and needed a crown. The process stretched out for nearly two months and involved 1 permanent crown that didn't fit when they tried to put it in, a second attempt at a crown that broke during the attempted installation, painful temporary crowns, lack of instructions on how to properly deal with the temporary crown to keep it from popping off, cutting on my gums w/o giving me numbing medication of any kind while trying to force crown #1 to fit (I fought back tears throughout the ordeal and cried in my car for 10 minutes before I could drive home), and the list could go on. The tooth with the crown is now very sensitive to hot and cold. I cannot chew anything hot or very cold on that side of my mouth. It also feels as though the crown is very thin on the top and I can no longer chew crunchy foods on that side of my mouth due to the pain I feel when I do so. Strike 3 - My 18 year old son went to Neibauer for a cleaning and full set of x-rays on December 26th. They gave him a clean bill of dental health. Today (Jan 29th), after my son has been suffering extreme pain for a week or more, a dentist in the state where he is attending college, mandated and began performing a root canal because of an active cavity under an existing filling that Neibauer made no mention of a month ago. Wouldn't something that advanced be indicated on the full set of xrays? Besides the negative experiences listed above, my teeth hurt for a couple of weeks after my last cleaning because of some new electronic pick device that they used to scrape the tartar off my teeth. I've never had those results when the hygienists/dentists used a hand pick. We will no longer be patronizing Neibauer Manassas from this point on. read more

TL;DR Excellent at working on teeth; Unprofessional back room staff. The dentist is my least favorite place to be, so I was really glad that when I scheduled my fillings they had agreed that if someone drove me, Ativan could be given to calm me down. +1 I showed up this morning at 0757 for my 0800 appointment. Taken back, when I mentioned Ativan, I was told that needs to be prescriped ahead of time blah blah blah. Fortunately, the front desk ladies were able to call the prescription in across the street, and just have me keep my original appointment, albeit delayed. -1 for being unprepared +1 for recovering -1 for wasting my time The usual dentist small talk that is meant to put you at ease is pretty cheesy, but we can't call it unprofessional. +0 Telling me i see spider monkeys on the ceiling because I'm on ativan is unprofessional. It's also misguided. Had the lady known much about ativan's pharmacology, she'd know that hallucinations are rarely seen. She made herself to look like a fool, but I digress. -1 for spidermonkeys When we were about done (didn't take too long, and it wasn't painful at all.. I was very pleased) my bite felt weird where they had been working. It felt like I was biting on maybe a small piece of filling or rock or something. My bite felt off. I brought this to the dentists attention and asked if there was something there, and I was immediately discounted and disregarded due to being on ativan, as the dentist and the assitant made a joke like "yep he's seeing spidermonkeys too". -1 unprofessional So when I stood up as we were apparently finished, no resolution to my concern earlier, I looked up at the dentist and assistant and said "I feel absolutely normal, and I'm worried about this bite" Their reply was "ya he feels absolutely fine hehe" -1 unprofessional (and quite frankly, rude) I'm a big guy, but I have an irrational fear of the dentist. They made some effort to accomodate me. Treating me like a child was never on the table. Had they come back, told me what they were doing, done their job (they're good at it), asked me if i had any questions or concerns, shook my hand, and said goodbye.... I'd be getting the rest of my fillings done there. Instead, they made jokes about me with me in the room, they blew off my questions, and they really frustrated me by treating me like a drunk. It's like delta airlines really. They have great pilots, who get you there safely. It's just the crap experience and attitude you get a long the way. P.S. to the lady who thought ativan makes you see stuff.... lorazepam isn't trazadone.... its totally different.... you're just plain wrong.... on top of being unprofessional, you're just plain wrong. If you need anything above a cleaning AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! I have spent $2500 repairing the mistakes made by this dentist. I went to this doctor to get a cleaning and it turned out I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth, so their recommendation was to pull 3 wisdom teeth. I am 39 and it seemed a little weird but I am not a dentist. I assumed they would send me to an oral surgeon and I asked for a referral, WRONG they said they do it themselves, so went in on they day of the surgery and it took the doctor 90 mins to pull one tooth. And then started on the tooth on the opposite side, but he forgot to numb me on that side. He was way over his head, but before I left he left me another present. He said I am going to send you to an oral surgeon but first let me shape the tooth in front of the one so it will feel better. That tooth is now cracked! I had to have emergency oral surgery to repair the tooth he "shaped" I had to have another doctor pull the other 2 he was supposed to pull and to add insult to injury I was not given post care instructions and I ended up with a dry socket which was very painful. read more

Wish I could give less than 1 star. Each time I've gone here, the wait time is lengthy. They have messed up my night guard, twice. Yesterday I went there and apparently the staff were all on lunch break though there is nothing posted about hours the business closes for lunch. A receptionist and a hygienist yell across the clinic to each other about what they both had for lunch while I'm sitting right in front of them. Then, the 3 receptionists loudly converse about which of them has or hasn't drank pickle juice. Again, I thought it unprofessional to have these loud conversations in front of a client. Next I hear a loud uproar of laughter from the back of the clinic. Another hygienist comes up front to share a phone photo with a receptionist, and the receptionist remarks how loud they are in the back. Several more eruptions of laughter occur while I've been waiting just to pick up a night guard. I finally approach the front desk and ask to speak with the office manager. To my surprise, the office manager is the receptionist who was yelling across the clinic about her lunch. I question how she thought it appropriate or professional to do that, and to have the "party" going on in the back. She tells me the staff was just "giggling". Later the female dentist comes in and proceeds to argue with me that because they work in the medical field and we're on lunch break, I shouldn't feel the way I do. She argues everything I say and never apologizes for how I feel. I tell her I too work in the medical field and we would NEVER act that way in front of clients. They clearly have no idea what client service means, not to mention she called me the wrong name the entire visit. I DO NOT recommend this particular facility!!! read more
