Each class is different and I am left sweating and feeling good at the end of each one. It's definitely a great workout. All of the instructors I've tried are great but Kristen is my favorite so far. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and they have a lot of regular members. No egos or competitive spirit here, which I appreciate. There is a large parking lot but it's easy to miss your turn if you're not familiar with the area. There are cubbies to store your stuff and hair ties, Luna bars, and water provided. The intro unlimited membership is $99 per month, which is a great deal and then it goes up to $159 I believe. You also have to let them know in advance if you want to cancel; otherwise, you'll be locked in for another 3 months. Their app is super easy to use, they have clothes and socks for sale, if you need them. My one minor complaint is that there isn't a clock in the room, so I never know if they're done kicking my butt haha.

I've been going for over a year with several instructors - but my absolute fav is Caroline B. She is clear with instruction, her class flow is great and she is always hands on to help! Her kindness and attentiveness always get me to come back even on days when I reallyyyyy don't want to work out. HSM makes me feel strong and great after classes. You have core exercises but there is always a new twist every week. Highly recommend!!!

Hilliard Studio Method is one of the studios I've wanted to try since signing up for Class Pass, but have managed to talk myself out of signing up because I've been super intimidated. I was intimidated because, through word of mouth, and a few Yelp reviews, I heard that the classes were super hard and the instructors/other class participants were unfriendly and perhaps a little snobby. While the class was extremely challenging, I found the instructor and other participants to be friendly and welcoming. The only issue I had was keeping up, the class was very full and at several points in the class I could not see what the instructor was doing. I'll definitely return to Hilliard Studio Method again soon because I want to be as long and lean as the instructors... next time, I'll place my mat closer to the instructor! Don't let the Myers Park address scare you away ...I felt perfectly at home in my Target workout attire!

On the two big screen video screens during class she played a video of two guys naked and making out in a bed and then there was another scene where the two guys were sitting on a couch and then one leaned down to the man's crotch and unzipped his fly in preparation for oral sex. What the heck??? I have done about 20 classes here and I had never seen anything but helpful statistics on the board. Apparently Madelynn bought her own video to go along with the music. Completely inappropriate. I don't want to see sex on the screen gay or straight during my workout. I saw others in the class looking at the screen purplexed. I thought the scenes from the video were done and i was going to try to forget it--then the scenes started playing from the beginning. They were on a loop! I walked out of the class midway thru fuming. I complained at the front. The ladies upfront shook their heads and apologized. They credited me back from the class. Shame on you Madelynn. Keep politics out of things and just teach the class. I felt disgusted-like i was forced to watch gay porn. Whoever owns cyclebar-you need to know about this and correct it immediately.

It was a good workout so I signed up for the special which was for lessons during the next month for $55. I didn't know if my body would hold up for this because it is quite strenuous Plus I didn't have much energy left when I would come home from work. So I ended up only going to two sessions of the four I was allotted. No problem at that point however they automatically debited my bank account for $69 for the next month. I was unaware that I had signed up for anything more than the special package of four lessons. Unfortunately I am older and live very close to the budget... Meaning I have to keep very close track of my spending and income. So, it was a shock to me that they went ahead and debited my account without my formal authorization. No one told me they were going to do that when I signed up for the $55 special. I called them to complain but they refuse to refund my money! Instead they said and they forced this on me that they would give me a total of 7 sessions meaning the two that I had left from the special plus five more to use before December. I was not happy about this because my body was not taking well to the extreme exercise. Plus anything coming out of my bank account without my knowing is never a good thing. I have not been back to Pure Barre since last May or June.. I have been moving from a place that I lived in for 14 years and that is a total nightmare. I came across their leaflet so I called them again about getting my $69 back and the first girl I spoke to was new period. And said she would talk to the office manager Mary. Well Mary called me back later on with an attitude that I was some kind of a pest who had called her number of times. I do not recall calling more than once or twice when they took that money. She was rude and obnoxious and had no interest in helping the situation. But proceeded to lie and try to pass me off to their corporate headquarters regarding the situation. She spoke over me and then hung up on me!! I called back and left a message and no one has responded. I know she never spoke to the owner regarding the situation but she lied about it. If they are that greedy and nasty maybe they should change the name of their place from Pure Barre to raging bitches!

The members as well as the instructors are so awesome. This specific location is very special as it is located in Reynolda Village and has lots of windows and feels very homey inside. Pricing: pure barre is expensive but from what I've found is comparable in price to other boutique fitness classes (think Orangetheory, 9round, etc). There are multiple class packages to choose from so you can find ones that fit your budget. Classes: there are 3 kinds of primary classes: classic, pure empower and pure reform. They offer mostly the classic which does change every time you go so you aren't bored of doing the exact same movements every time you go. There are many instructors but they all are very knowledgeable and willing to help. Would recommend at least trying a free class if you are interested!

The biggest deterrent for me was the price. It is just really $$ per class, but I did hear how awesome the classes and results are so it seems they charge so much because it is a system that works. A friend (shout out to Natalie N) was interested in trying it out so I decided why not go for it. They have a $99 monthly unlimited offer for new clients so that seemed worth it. After all isn't the buddy system always the best way to try out something new?! The studio is really nice and has a decent sized area where they have workout cloths for sale. Just be advised they are all along the lines of lulu lemon pricing. They do have a great hair tie and headband section so if you forget yours you can always purchase one. The socks that you need to do the workout are sold there for about $12. The girl who mans the front desk is really friendly. Now on to the actual class. I wish when it was your first class they would give you a bit of extra instruction. I have no real idea what tuck and freeze even actually means. Let alone if I was doing it remotely correctly. They do have a breaking down the bar instruction class that is free so I am definitely taking the next one of those that comes up. I get that its hard to give people personalized attention when the class is so big but maybe requiring a breaking down the barre class before you actually head into a room with 20 ladies who already know exactly what they are doing would be helpful. Although I am no pro (and when they mentioned going into a full split if you like, I think I actually laughed out loud) and have to take many breaks during class the 55 minutes goes by surprisingly quickly and you certainly feel your muscles working. For the month of May they are doing a 20 classes in 30 days challenge. My friend and I decided we might as well go for it since we have the unlimited this month. I have been told the goodie bag prize at the end is pretty good and you get 20% off of a purchase which is helpful for the wallet.
