We brought a printer to their office. We left with a promise it would be completed in 3 days. Three weeks later they offered us an interim printer to use. It was a very cheap unit, probably $59 at a box store. It came used and without ink, so we had to buy the cartridges. The printer didn't work they directed us to other cartridges, we bought those the printer still did not work. Now we are in $79 for an initial fee and over $100 in ink cartridges. They said they would come to our house, no more than two blocks from their office. They cancelled at the last minute due to a forecast of rain??? They rescheduled, didn't show. They rescheduled again and didn't show. Now they no longer respond to email inquiries. I am planning, if no response to this complaint, to file one with the Better Business Bureau. read more

I would not take my computer back again ever. Very poor timeliness, communication, and capabilities. They never answer their phones (literally), never communicate via phonecalls, take days to respond via emails, and seem to only work a few hours a week. Initially contacted on June 28th. They said they could fix my problem, windows would be reinstalled and likely it was the harddrive that was crashing and a new harddrive would be needed. Estimated it would be ready in under a week and take 1-2 hours of labor. They were not available to meet until the following day despite being within business hours. I dropped my computer off on the 29th. They said they would send a confirmation email, never received. They said they would communicate when issue was diagnosed, never received. I called on the 2nd (open) and left a message. I called on the 5th and left a message. Received a call back that day. Needs a new harddrive as initially thought. Asks me to buy a harddrive on amazon and to bring it in. And if I want anything transferred off the old one to the new one I also need an external harddrive for them (I had asked for him to copy my music if possible off of it to preserve it as that wasn't backed up previously. I also mentioned if he any ability to get into my Photoshop to please deactivate my license, he says he cannot and I accept that). What type of computer shop doesn't have harddrives for short term storage purposes. Also, why couldn't they order the hard drive and save the extra trip I had to make via appointment to their shop. Also, it was impossible for them to do this job in 1 week if I was to have to buy a harddrive via amazon, wait for its arrival, and make a new appointment to drop it off with them. So why the 1 week quote? After the phone call on the 5th they emailed a recommendation of a SSD harddrive, expensive upgrade. No thanks. They recommended a bottom line HHD, big step down, no thanks. I asked for clarity via email and phone message regarding their recommendations and what I was anticipating buying and never received a response. On the 6th I made an executive decision and bought a harddrive that was equal to the previous harddrive. On the 7th I receive an email response also recommending me to buy a small SSD as a boot drive. I agree. Drive arrives on the 10th. I made an appointment to meet to drop off the harddrives at their shop on the 12th. He tells me that it should be ready on the 18th or 19th. I arrive with kids in tow 10 minutes early. Door is locked. I call, no answer. I wait outside in the heat, with a toddler and baby. Time arrives, no one there, door locked, I call... no answer. 5 minutes later, call, no answer. 5 minutes later, call... answer... turns out my guy is on vacation this week and he asked someone else to meet me and that person forgot. 45 minutes late the guy finally shows up. The 18th comes, I email asking for an update. No response until the 19th. Receive email stating. "30 hours of copying still left." 19th they ask via email what type of windows I had that I want reinstalled. They email the 20th and say they can't find drivers to my motherboard. I tell him I have the CD I can bring it to him... he says "great, no clue if that CD has what you need, you can pick the computer up." He also notifies me via email that he copied my entire old harddrive over to the new one. So now that brand new harddrive has a bunch of old installations of applications and even windows taking up space. "Maybe some of the apps will work still. Or delete whatever you want. Perhaps you can start the app from the previous install and deactivate your photoshop license, I don't know" (What?!?!) I am over this, so I pick it up on the 21st, 3.5 weeks after I initially dropped it off. He notifies me that he also left the old harddrive in the computer, just not plugged in. (Why?!). I get it home, notice that the case isn't descured right and he has bend the removable door a bit. I fix that. Notice that the SSD is in no way secured inside the tower, it is in fact rubbing against the motherboard fan. I fixed that. I installed the drivers, along with motherboard drivers and everything else that was required to get it operational again. As windows was not even logged into prior, it is clear he did no verification of his work's success. The kicker is, the harddrive they installed was done so incorrectly. I emailed and called the afternoon of the 21st and the 22nd. Just before closing on the 22nd I received an email saying their manager was having phone issues and couldn't call me right then, telling me to call in a one hour window the following day. No answer and as of the 27th, no return call nor return emails. I took my computer to techNav in Alcoa and they fixed it the same day. Turns out that Nerds incorrectly formatted the hard drive as MBR and unsuccessfully copied my data. All around fail on their part. read more

Have used Neighborhood Nerds for years and used them for many projects. Originally installed and set-up the house for direct wired internet and it works great. Upgraded our computer when the old one needed to be. Most recently helped install and set-up a new tv, speakers and other a/v equipment for a home remodel. Those are the big projects but they have been great on small things like even helping print-out labels to use to address Christmas cards. Too many small things to even remember them all! We always start here first and if they can't help us they point us in the right direction! read more

I was really disappointed with my experience with Neighborhood Nerds because they did not show up to the appointment I had scheduled with them. I called to inquire what happened and they stated that I wasn't a member so I wouldn't get an appointment. No one called to inform me they weren't coming and I was not told I had to be a member when the appointment was scheduled. We have had an appointment with Neighborhood Nerds before and have never run into this problem. read more
