They handled each customer with care. They didn't rush me. I know i took too long to decide. After finishing my order I kept adding to it. I had to hurry and leave tge building before I added even more to the order. I ended up with 4 delicious cupcakes and a gooey butter cake. Everything was so good. The gold rush was the last cake that I purchased. I had completed my order. But got back in line to get it. 2 ladies told me that I can go ahead of them. I told them I already ordered and I'm ordering again. I initially got 3 vanilla butter cream cupcakes. Then I saw the gooey butter cake. I asked the young lady to add that too.. My coworkers placed their orders. Their desserts are kind of pricey. At least they are on my opinion. But they are very good. Of course there's parking out front.

Yesterday, Sophia my little fur-baby had a vet appointment that was just a block away. Being a good dog dad, I made sure she arrived early. In fact, we were so early I had time to kill so I made a stop at, The Cup. To my delightful surprise, they had a special on two of my favorite flavors and they were combined into one cupcake. I love lemon & raspberry. The cupcake was called, Spring Fling. It was a lemon cake, with Raspberry cream cheese frosting and a raspberry filling. The cake was moist and soft. Most importantly, the frosting was not overly sweet and did not overly dominant the cake. It was just the perfect amount of topping. The lady working the counter was attentive and made friendly conversation. I was glad to see that they are part of the, Gift-A-Meal program and that they offered Student Discounts to those who attend SIUE. That's community supporting community.

Every tea I've ever had here has been off the charts. They have caffeine free options, too! The teapot for two is excellent. I am a sucker for a pick two because I like a lil diversity. The ceasar salad is great. Big fan of the teaspoon pesto sandwich. My partner raves about the chicken croissant and always gets a side salad with olive oil. The workers are nice. Its seat yourself with a number and they clear the table when you're finished. Easy place to bring kids. Plenty of options for seating! Personally love the booth option.

When ordering the ham they fail to mention it's 2 1/2 slices of deli ham. The only thing that tasted fresh were the eggs and the pancake. The bacon and sau was severely burnt and dry. However, the potatoes were the worst. They were dry, burnt, over seasoned and did not taste fresh at all. The meat and potatoes were cooked hours ago reheated when ordered. For being $12 it is not worth it and that money would be better spent at McDonalds. To make matters worse I heard a staff employee coughing in the kitchen. She should be home not making the food.

I went in with intentions of trying just about one of everything and I did. I think I got a lot for $23. I also like that every item has a price clearly shown. I was welcomed nicely and not rushed with my choices. Made small talk and came home to sample my stash. First, it all tastes like it's cooked with love and butter, but not overtly sugary! I love the lemon popovers and the cranberry cookies are fabulous and more hearty, not too sweet. Just what winter ordered. Also, shout out to the coconut cream pie... that crust is like layers from heaven. More to come...Keep this gem in Maryville! I will update more as I get through my "GET YOUR SWEET ON" buffet. It's going to take a while to eat. Note to self, I love cake, I love cream horns, and like Cookie Monster I love cookies from the Sweet Bakery Creation! Also I always ask what I'm getting before I buy. If it has several layers of buttercream, I'm going to know it's sweet, but I'm ok with that... they offer a lot of stuff not always common in everyday bakeries so explore your options like I did. They are a mix of pastries more so than a donut shop. Everyone deserves some pinafores and extra special goodies.

Pro tip: definitely check their hours before you go--and honestly, just plan your day around it because it's that good. I was expecting your typical little coffee-and-sandwich spot, but it completely exceeded my expectations. They have a couple of parking spaces behind the building, and if those are full, there's a free lot about 500 feet down the road. It was pretty busy at lunchtime. You order at the counter, and they bring everything to your table. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor seating in various sizes, and the decor is adorable. I especially loved the maps--they make great conversation starters. I noticed several tables pointing out places they'd visited and swapping travel stories. The menu has a nice variety. I ordered the chicken salad on ciabatta with a side salad. The chicken salad had a strong dill flavor that I really enjoyed, and the ciabatta was perfectly fresh--not too tough. Next time, I'll probably pick a different side since the salad was basically just lettuce. If there was any dressing, it was super light, so I ended up adding some of the lettuce into my sandwich. The surprise standout, though, was the lavender lemonade--a total sleeper hit. It was scorching hot that day, and I wanted something refreshing, so I ordered it on a whim. Honestly, it was the best lemonade I've ever had. I don't usually find myself making a special trip to a café just for lemonade, but here I am. I'm not sure if it's seasonal, but I really hope it sticks around.

The Good: The pretzels are reasonably priced, especially the combos. For $4, you can get 3 pretzels or a dozen pretzel "nuggets" (some places call them pretzel bites.) Add another $2 and you get a choice of 3 dipping sauces and a 16 oz. drink. So, for $6 plus tax and tip, you will have enough for a meal. They also have mini pigs in a blanket (cocktail weeniest inside a pretzel) and cinnamon versions. The pretzels were fresh and hot and PLENTY for my appetite. Not so Good: The place was very smokey- not sure if they had burned something or perhaps they need commercial vents? It's carry out so I wasn't in there that long. The parking lot is hard to get in and out of due to the location at two very busy roads. Nothing they can do about that. IMO comments: I didn't care for the cheddar cheese sauce - it reminds me of the canned stuff they give you with nachos at the ball park. Lastly, the pretzels had a "sheen" on them but I like mine buttered - the way they are offered at other pretzel places. All in all, decent pretzels and fair prices!
