My boyfriend and I's first time in Washington. We were bar hopping and stumbled upon this club, looking for a restroom for me to use. We arrived at 930 pm, then were charged a $24 entry fee which we did not mind... but only for him to be told by staff that it was a "lesbian night club" and that he needed to leave As we were leaving, the front desk as well as security told him "I don't know why staff would kick you out, lesbian night is only till 10pm" while they proceeded to do NOTHING about it. So it was 30 minutes till it was over, and my man was kicked out after already being charged.. I think the approach was rude, the front desk as well as floor staff should have better communication with each other as to who is allowed in, and whether or not they should be charged. read more

Me and my friends went to this nightclub on a Sunday night. For a Sunday - it was really busy. We went for latin night and it was a great experience. The music was really good, and there was a drag show as well. The cover was $15. Only complaint was that the floor was a little sticky. I didn't get any drinks but I heard they were good. Overall, this was a pretty great club. Nice open floor for dancing, great music & welcoming environment. I'd definitely go again read more

We came to check out this place after hanging out at Wildrose. The bartender was cool and drinks were good with decent prices. The go-go dancers were cool too. Music was decent, the dance floor was still somewhat empty around midnight. The scene is much different from LA/SD gay clubs, but we still had fun here. The only annoying thing that happened during our visit here was a straight guy attempted to hit on my girlfriend, but I can't blame him... she's hot! read more

Falling apart Dangerous for pedestrians. They block the sidewalk at nigt with lots of loud underage teens making noise waiting to get in buying drugs right outside. The music is so loud that the floors of residents nesrby-8 flights up can watch the ripples in their coffeecips like in Jurasic Park. The music stays on intil 4am. read more

My friends and I arrived at neighbours at around 1:40 Friday night, which at the time had a $10 cover. We pulled out our ID to enter and then the short bouncer told us the cover was now $20, despite it not being 1:50 yet (when prices go up). He also berated us, yelling at us and being incredibly rude to my friends, telling them to "get a life", "get a boyfriend" and that we were "incompetent". We decided not to go in and I am glad. I am astonished that this is allowed, especially when we were respectful. I have never had a good experience at this bar - between creepy people and rude security/management. Avoid at all costs. I know its open later than other bars but trust me this place is not worth your time. read more

I'm not from Seattle, I'm visiting & I had no idea about their liquor law and not serving after 2 am. It would have been nice to have a sign at the entrance maybe stating that there's no alcohol sales after 2 am. We paid $20 cover to go in and be disappointed with finding that out. All I'm saying is they should put a sign up somewhere that states no alcohol sales after 2 AT the entrance so it gives people a chance to decide if they want to enter or not knowing that information. My friends and I were about to take a shot. It is 1:55 AM. 5 Minutes before no drinks are allowed by law. The security literally snatched the shot WE PAID FOR, out of our MF HANDS. Bouncers will discriminate you based on the way you look and flag you based on your skin color before you even enter the club. I was in line to enter the club but the bouncer did not let me in because I was too drunk talking to people. I had zero beer during that time. Bouncer also threw my ID onto the ground. The great thing about neighbors is that is open later than most places. It also is very big and has a lot of open space for people to dance or sit. The downside to this place is the music is NOT anything I would ever want to dance or listen to. It seems a little bit dated to me. I want to twerk and get down on the dance floor. I don't want to sway to Dancing Queen and other ABBA songs. Just think like the gayest songs of the century that your dad and mom probably danced to when they were younger (yes, I'm a millennial). That's what I imagine when I hear these songs... but like actually, my 50-something year old dad legit comes here with his friends and likes it.... I feel like that says it all. I usually just find myself swaying around here either needing to drink more to dance to the music or wishing I was at R Place. read more

drinks are ok and decent prices. but bouncer is rude and very handsy with women. sure i get you have to pat people down but if we are in skin tight jeans and crop tops theres no reason we need to be aggressively patted down like that. not when our clothes are so tight you could see the stick of gum outline in my pocket. when i called him out he went on the defense so hard its obvious that he knew he was in the wrong. he was patting down the women like men it was gross. he almost didnt want to let me in and was like "i dont care if you come in or not" and i told him he could pat me down but he didnt need to grab me aggressively and as a result he was a lot less handsy with me because of it. insane that you actually need to call that out. this short little man clearly getting his rocks off feeling up on women. get bouncers that arent creeps. read more

GETTING "IN VOGUE" WITH FRIENDLY "NEIGHBOURS!" THE SIT REP (Situation Report) On Saturday Night, "Neighbours" plays host to the wonderful DJ-Dance event VOGUE. Though NEIGHBORS is "traditionally" a gay bar during the week, on Saturday Night it is decidedly an "everyone is welcome" GOTHIC-INDUSTRIAL-EBM Dance Fest. THE SET-UP "VOGUE" @ NEIGHBOURS is a SUBTERRANEAN experience. I always have had GREAT VIBES at clubs where you "descend" into the ABYSS of darkness only to walk into the subdued light of the venue, as the aural pleasures of ethereal waifs, or the pounding symmetry of metal smashing against metal meets your ears. In this way, VOGUE reminds me a LOT of the very popular SF event "DEATH GUILD", but even more so "back in the day" when DJ Decay spun the tables and when it used to inhabit the MANHATTAN LOUNGE at 3rd & Market Streets in Downtown San Francisco. It also reminds me currently of the RETRO ROOM @ DAS BUNKER in Los Angeles where DJ AMANDA JONES reigns supreme, where there is a "descent" into the darker lair of the club venue from the Ballroom area above. "Back in the day" in Sacramento, we used to enjoy the Gothic-Industrial events "BIOMECH @ THE CATTLE CLUB, a local Gay & Lesbian club. There was also "SEVEN" put on by DJ Arnold @ FACES, the local Gay Dance Club. Today, we enjoy the Gothic-Industrial-EBM-Darkwave 80s event "REVERENCE" @ CLUB 21, the local Lesbian Dance Club. As an amateur Sociologist, I always find it interesting how such beneficial relationships have sprung up all over the West Coast between the Gay & Lesbian community-run establishments, and the Movers & Shakers in a somewhat more "mainstream" (if I can actually get away with using that term in this discussion) HETEROSEXUAL Gothic-Industrial-Steampunk--EBM-Darkwave 80s music communities. [Now there's an interesting doctorate subject awaiting someone out there to write a thesis paper on....] THE MASTER OF CEREMONIES DJ EVAN at VOGUE did an INCREDIBLE job of mixing several genres of songs together for a wonderful night of dancing. Wolfsheim, Dead Can Dance, Frontline Assembly, Siouxsie, The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Ayria, VNV Nation, Covenant, etc. etc., all had us dancing nonstop. And speaking of mixing, his actual mixing between songs was SEAMLESS. Often our party of dancers were left in awe as we suddenly realized we were already into the NEXT song when we didn't even realize the PREVIOUS song had ended. Now THAT is fun as a dancing-music fan! Also - it's always a GREAT SIGN when there are far more people dancing on the dance floor than people sitting along the perimeter thereof! Kudos to the DJ. FASHIONISTA VOGUE really has no "set" dress-code that is enforced. Most of us were dressed in Black anyways since that is the standard uniform for these music formats. You have your traditional industrial guys and swirly-goth gals. Then....there's ALWAYS that random guy in the tee-shirt and Bermuda shorts.....leaving you to scratch your head...ESPECIALLY on a freezing rain night like tonight in Seattle. Of special note, several people (usually couples) were really exquisitely dressed in Fetish wear. Then several young ladies truly exemplified the unique beauty of Cyber-Goths. THE LOWDOWN When in Seattle, for a great alternative experience for Saturday Night dancing, look to the event "VOGUE" @ NEIGHBOURS-DISCO. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! BARTENDERS ROB YOU aka 10 dollar cover for what.. we walked in.. i asked what capacity was .. security said it was 25% full. there were 10 ppl in a 1000 capacity nightclub. Got drinks all night was fine. When there was 30 min left we went to get one last . Bartender sold us the most expensive drink. And when we sat down for a minute the buser came and stole our FULL DRINKS AFTER TIPPING OVER 30% for the curtesy ... and said too bad.:: i tried to explain we were served and tipped and she essentially threatened to throw me outside. When i brought this to the attention of the bartender we tipped. HE STARTED YELLING LIKE I WAS ABOUT TO ROB A BANK... I have gone to neighbors several times now and have never been disappointed a large dance area very well stocked bar though the drinks are pricey 8 dollars for a beer 5 dollars for a bottle of water and not to mention the 10 dollar cover charge. First time going and the staff here is pretty rude. We had a horrible experience and will not be coming back. It was last call, we knew we had to finish them quick, so we stayed near the bar to finish our drink when an employee came and, without warning, grabbed one of our friend's drink from his hand and threw it away. When going around the room I let her know we just bought the drink and I was going to finish it. She went to grab it anyways from my hand not giving a F**. I told her no! and she went to grab the body guard who then proceeded to tell the group that I could be charged with assault and handcuffed when she was the one coming aggresively unto me. The event happened before 2am. If they are so hardcore about cutoff then they should train their bartenders to not sell anymore alcohol. I was viciously assaulted by a Neighbors employee. It was last call, and I was told to step off the dance floor and "go pound my beer" by one employee. I did as I was told, drinking my beer, when a tall 6' man approached me, and angrily demanded my drink. I was finishing my drink, and he told me "THAT'S IT, YOU'RE OUT OF HERE." He then viciously grabbed my arm, spilling my beer all over me and dragging me towards the back exit to throw me INTO THE ALLEY. I am a small, 5,5" woman and this area of Seattle is terrifying. He wasn't going to let me notify my friends!! Fortunately, my girl friend came over, seeing me sobbing and asking the man to let me go. I came here with a friend. I paid his entry of $10, gave the door a $20. 2 seconds later my friend said he paid so I asked for one entry fee back. They denied "forgot" that I paid it and got real antagonistic. They called for security and the hag brigade came to bounce me. No surprise. How dare I ask for my money back! I should have let it go as a donation? The guy in the right hand corner of the pic was all too happy to make me leave. I think my guilt was being a straight white woman. I have been here several times, and most recently was the worst. While they have moved their entrance from the sketchy alley to Broadway and made some interior upgrades in the past few years, it's still terrible when compared to the other bars in the area. Gay bars often pour heavy, and the drinks here were weak. Barring theme nights, drag queens often perform medium to high energy or nostalgic songs to maintain a vibe, and tonight was slow, boring, and unregonizable songs. The upstairs areas were apparently reserved for queens, but there was no one to say so at the base of the stairs nor any signs--just someone to yell at us when we tried to find a place to sit down. When we finally found a place to sit on the main level, a drag queen came up 30 seconds later to claim it was hers, despite not leaving any sign that the table was hers. Admittedly there was some sort of pageant tonight but it wasn't mentioned by anyone at the front, and it seemed poorly organized as the hostess' mic had issues and the queens needed to be constantly directed on where to go. Maybe other nights are worth the $10 cover, but I'm not willing to risk it. Want strong drinks? Go to CC Attles, Diesel, or literally any other gay bar. Want a good drag show? Go to Queer Bar, Unicorn, or Julia's. Want to meet other gays? Go to Union, Cuff, or Pony. Neighbours has always been, and seems as if it will only ever be, terrible. So we went in as a last minute decision, me and my friend got two shots and she went to the bathroom it was 1:55 at the time which I understand the alcohol cut off time. This lady came up and said you have two minutes before I throw away your shots and literally not even two seconds later another guy comes up and throws my $22 shots in the garbage. This is totally ridiculous considering we had just bought them and there was still 6 minutes left until there was no longer alcohol being served. I will never go here again. Neither I'm going to the wrong club or there must've been a change in security/management because what I've read and what I've seen are complete opposites. Neighbor's is the premier stop in Cap Hill for Latin Night. I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff nor patrons here compared to the other clubs I've gone to in Seattle. You would have to do a lot or create a scene to be noticed by the security here, or.. maybe these reviewers are just plain sensitive and hiding a bigger story to their night... The security here tend to leave you alone and just do their job, heck some of them vibe to the music as they do their job, what's that called? Multitasking! And others actually even know the regular's! The bartenders: they're quick, pour heavy, and have noticed that they're able to keep cool regardless of the crowd, just like the security they know the regulars down to the drink! As for clean up, they post it all around that they pull drinks for the safety of the club and patrons, I assume to reduce the chances of "spiking," and the times I've seen them about to pull my drink, they've ALWAYS asked prior to pulling them, on multiple occasions they've left it alone, which is quite inconsistent to other reviews I've read..hmmm.. They also make it clear on last calls, as well as "shots only" calls on the monitors more than enough time ahead for people to notice and they do!
