It's a nice place with a dark, divey atmosphere. The entire bar is a lot more narrow than I expected, but lots of little corners to chat including a front bar, a back bar and outdoor patio, an upstairs floor with pool tables, and even a sling in the corner (not in use at the time!). Drinks and drink prices were decent and people seemed pretty friendly. It was just a Wednesday night and mostly empty, but people were still having a good old time. So what to say about this place. As someone visiting and looking for something familiar of course you would go to the Eagle thinking it had roots to others one had been too. Well not the case. With that being said I was in town for 4 nights and went each night. The space is small and the aesthetic dated. But as a gay man in his late 30's it offers some resemblance to the bars in my youth. The first night I kinda just walked around but didn't take long and quickly asked the bartender where else to go. (Brix) the bartender was Very helpful. Supper disappointed, lost my bag there with my ID so I got a replacement at the DMV and the guy at the dmv gave me a temporary one and said no place can deny me so I went to get drinks with that and the guy at the counter with a beard started to yell at me and I told him the guy at the dmv told me I can't get denied and he said I would have to have my ID with the paper I had but if I lost it how would I show him that? As I'm walking away he's continuing to yell. Tbh I'll never go back there I lost my bag with 400$ cash there like be serious you see me all the time so the attitude and the aggression in the voice was so uncalled for. Hello there, This e-mail is to the management or who is may concern if the management is different than the ownership. I came in at 11:55 pm. I waited in line and presented my ID. When I presented my Debit card for payment I was turned away. The person in line behind me informed me there was an on-site at the moment. The gentlemen who carded me ever so politely failed to mention any such service. Instead chose to quickly dismiss the 30 year old customer in front of them. With out a possible solution to my problem. He stated cash was required; to which i promptly replied, why is not there a sign staying this? (As i had waited in a line through the door way onto the curb; in the cold, And followed with, My bank does jot have an ATM anywhere near by(while showing I bank with a credit union; BECU). He chose to state, "Do you need everything explicitly stated in writing? Most bars only accept cash." Which I chose to reply (as someone who is a military brat and lived all over the world) "most bars in Seattle, only accept cash." I feel it was ridiculously unprofessional for him to not tell me the solution was on sight, which led to people in line behind me to should quips of judgement. As a recent transplant, how am I supposed to know about an on-site ATM without mention by the staff? Especially the doorman whom I presented my issue to in hope for a solution? Instead I was belittled, insulted and rudely bullied by an unprofessional staff member! Please be aware of this staff members choice to be unprofessional and insulting to customers who were looking forward to enjoying the establishment. PSA: NOT ALL ARE WELCOME HERE. We had the most shockingly rude and uncomfortable experience here last night. My friend brought us here because she has been here before and said this was a really fun gay bar. When my group walked into the bar and walked further in to check out the vibe of the bar in the back, the bartender at the bar in the front angrily shouted at us that we didn't show him our IDs when we first came in. When we said sorry and walked back up to the front bar, the group of guys chilling at the bar with the bartender stared all of us down and started saying things like "you know this is a gay bar right?", "there are other places you could go", "why are you guys here?" all while bartender was angrily repeating that we didn't show him our IDs earlier. We were in shock at how they were treating us and knew that we were clearly not welcome here, so right after showing him our IDs we decided to leave and wished them a good night. I've never been to a bar with such a mean, unwelcoming group of staff and regulars before. This shouldn't matter at all, but some of our group are lgbtq. I realize I'm not exactly the target patron for the Eagle, but I can't help but be annoyed by this place. I came here on a Saturday evening a few weeks ago and was charged $5 cover at the door to listen to some guy's iPod while I drank a $6 Heineken. So there you have it, $11+tip to sit in an empty shithole of a car and drink a bottle of beer. Some of the events here are fun (Bearacuda, Fringe) but coming on a regular night is a downright tragic experience. This is the WORST "gay" bar n Seattle! Me and my husband went there last night to watch a drag show featuring Jinkx Monsoon, It was supposed to start around 9-10,well needless to say 12:15 am rolls around and finally a drag queen comes out on stage does one number then here comes Jinkx Monsoon. she dances to one song and then sings one live song. sad to say we enjoyed Angle better than JInkx , It could have been because the stage was not a stage at all i was a tiny lil cage for Gogo boys to dance in and not enough for a good show. I can say that the drinks were good and the one bartender was nice . I personally think that if the Eagle wants to host drag shows they need to rethink the location of the bar it is to small for the crowds a show brings there is no stage and no room to move around. then the people, It was clear that i was there with my husband we ordered a drink and i headed to the bathroom i left my husband standing outside the restroom and this creepy old man follows us from the bar and then follows me into the restroom pulls out his penis and flashes me. knowing that i am there with someone then the whole night my crotch was grouped by men passing by me in the crowded bar . not a good feeling when you are married! I can't believe this bar has only 2 stars! I go here often and always have a good time. I enjoy the NICE bartenders, the CHEAP beer specials and the FREE pool. I talk with the friendly regulars and meet interesting people from all over the world. The bar has gone threw a few changes lately. Some good and some bad but thats the way it is. I'm a big fan of the Eagle! It's one of my go-to spots in Capitol Hill (I'm here right now actually haha). Yay for late night Yelping!! The drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is great. I like a place where I can where my favorites ripped up jeans or jorts and still feel like I'm dressed appropriately. There's a cover on the weekends usually, which is almost always worth it. So the queer scene in Seattle is interesting; you have to know when to go places. For instance, if you're a mid-twenties, genderqueer, female bodied individual, Shade will probably be right up alley. If you're a gay mid-thirties otter you'll probably feel right at home at 2181. It's all about finding your groove, who you want to be around, and respecting the space of those who are different than yourself. So make sure to check out the Events calendar on their website to see what event is going on that night and what the crowd will be like. Also, they have a freaking SWEET back patio! I'm a sucker for places with some kind of outdoor area where you can catch your breath (or a quick smoke) between dancing your heart out to awesome jams. This has to be one the Nastiest Places I've ever been. Where the bar owner Keith allows people to give oral sex and more. I brought friends from out of town and they were completely disgusted. It smelled like an dirty lockeroom as well as we slipped on semen that was on the floor. The regulars there are drunks and harrassed every new person they saw. Definitely wouldn't recommend going here at all. I'd have to say, the only good thing about the place was the bartender Keon. He gave great recommendations on places to go in the City.
